"Mm...." She looked at him, "Hey...i asked first....." She pouted, "We're okay by me....I mean....I'm not upset or anything.....I just....want to make sure, you're not mad at me or something....I don't want to lose your friendship." They were still in the first stage of friendship, so it was still on rather shaky terms. Trying to figure the other person out.

Boniface almost laughed, but instead just smiled one of him small, reassuring smiles. "I'm not going to be mad at you over something like that, when you didn't even know. I don't think I'd be mad if you did know. The eye poke thing might have made it seem more horrible. Think of it as more of a ticklish spot." Boniface knew a lot of foxes weren't fond of tickling, so maybe this new analagy would help.

Embry relaxed, "Ohhhhh...." She smiled. The ticklish spot did make her feel better about nipping at his ear, "As long as you're not mad at me I'm happy...." Her tail started to wag again. Walking over to a tree she put her paws on the trunk and scratched it until a piece of bark fell off. Then she lapped it up with her tongue and sucked on it. "Mmm....." She smiled as the sweetness teased her tongue, "You were right about the winter making it sweet."

Boniface nodded. "And winter isn't even truely here yet. Close, but not quite here. It can get a little bit sweeter still." Though he had to admit with the freshly exposed bark the sweet smell in the air was already quite strong. "There are also a could nut trees around here. They're nowhere near as common as the maples, but I still manage to run across them every now and then. They're already lost most of their leaves, I believe, and a lot of the nuts have fallen to the ground."

Embry smiled at him softly, "I love walnuts....they are my favorite....they're the really big one, probably about the size of your paw...." She looked down at her paw to measure and it was about right, maybe a little smaller. "I wonder if you have any walnut trees here...." She looked around, now that was one of the trees she could distinguish from others, "Oh and you must have fruit trees....I wouldn't mind finding some raspberries...."

"Hmmm. Well it's the wrong time for berries. From what I understand they all grow on vines or bushes, and the ground plants have been picked over by now." He knew a couple berry bush clumps that always grew back in the spring, if only to avoid stepping on them. They had some nasty thorns!
"I think we might have walnuts, I'm not sure. I know there are at least three kinds I have come across, if I'm feeling the differences in the shells correctly." Boniface sat for a moment, getting his bears, then stood and began walking. "I'm sure one must be nearby. Let's see if we can find it."
((The three kinds of nut trees in the forest are almonds, pecans, and walnuts. I'll let you choose which kind of tree they eventually come upon.))

"Oh I keep forgetting that winter is coming..." Embry laughed at herself, "Of course the berries would be long gone by now." She looked over and saw him get up, "Oh okay...." She beamed and skipped after him until they were walking side by side. She really made a conscious effort to remain mostly quiet so that he could listen to the forest. She didn't want him walking more blind then he already was, she knew that he needed his ears to get his bearings.

Boniface could hear the effort Embry was making to walk silently, and smiled. It didn't bother him so much by way of directions since he knew the area well. Sound just helped him learn in anything new was in the area. His own steps were quite silent, but that was something he'd learned to do with a ton of practice.
"Let me know if you spot anything. I'm pretty sure I can lead us right up to the tree, but I've been known to hit a snag here or there."

"A snag?" She looked over at him, cocking her head to the side wondering what that meant. Did he run into something, or just end up lost for a minute. Either one didn't sound particularly fun so she figured she's drop it.
"There it is!" She beamed and ran over to the tree, using her muzzle to push leaves out of the way and get to the nuts. She stepped on the shell of one and crushed it open, then started to lap up the nut inside, "Mmm...." She grinned, "Still good to eat." She smiled at Boni, "Did you want one Boni?"

Boniface shook his head, sitting down on the ground. "I'm not too fond of nuts. Not sure why, might be all the work it took me trying to get into them the first time I came across them. Since then I find that I'd rather try for other sources of food before I resort to eating nuts." Boniface actually had that memory swimming behind his sightless eyes. He wasn't sure what kind of nut he'd found that first time, but it had certainly given him a run for his money!

"Oh...alright...." She smiled and ate the rest of the nut, "Well...are you hungry at all....we could go find something else....We could go hunting for a little rabbit if you like?" She sat and looked at him, "Orrrr we could.....Um..." She tilted her head up and tried to think of something else they could go find.

"If you would like to hunt we can," Boniface said. "I actually ate something yesterday. I should be good for a day or two. Not that I wouldn't say no to another meal," he added, chuckling a bit.

Embry smiled, "Then i will catch you something to eat.....somehow...." She added as an afterthought. As she said before, she was a horrible hunter. And was a little anxious about the thought of having to hunt in front of someone, even if he couldn't see how bad she was. "Alright....." She looked around the forest, "Well....I could....catch you some fish...." She looked back to the river they had just left behind.
"Or i could go and try to find a rabbit...." She looked deep into the forest, "Though they are fast little buggers...Hmmmm...." She started walking, thinking as she did on which direction to go, left to the river, or right into the forest.

"I don't know if I've ever had fish before. What do they taste like?" Boniface knew he himself never caught a fish, having never gone further into the water than to stick his face in for a drink. He was almost sure his father had caught fish for them before, but he had been so young he couldn't remember.

"Well....it depends on the fish....but if you've ever had chicken....some people say it tastes a little like that...." She pivoted mid-step and headed back for the river, "I will catch you one and let you be the judge." She giggled and jumped into the river. Unlike most foxes, she knew and loved to swim. Though the river was swallow enough for her to stand in, so she stayed still and attempted to lure the fishes toward her.
