Zac pointed at the curry and stood there patiently till she tried some.
"... hmm I can teach you burgers too if you survive the curry." He observed watching and waiting to see if her reaction would be anything like his own.

She just gave him a droll stare for a moment. "Zaaac.... do i really..." She said with a sigh, clearly a war going on between her eyes. They gleamed for a moment, before dulling and turning around. Zac should know how stubborn beth could be sometimes...
"Alright alright. Ill take a single bite." She said scooting back towards the food... Poking at it with the spoon. Clearly not wanting to, she took a small spoonfull and put it in her mouth.
....
.....
Tears started to stream out of the corner of her eyes, as her face steadily turned red. CLEARLY the spice was too much for her!

Zac offered her the glass of milk like a sacrificial lamb, the smirk on his face would last for HOURS after to be sure. Peace achieved though bad cooking... who knew?
"Think you're going to make it?" He queried his voice lifted by the grin into an heavy tone of amusement.

"I-haaeetttt-uuu" It came out as a slushing mumble as she gulped down the milk, seeking relief from the evil burn and sting of the acid-curry.
"AAAAAAAAAAUUGGHH I felt like my face was going to melt off!" She cried out, still feeling the tingle and burn.
...
She tossed a napkin at her brother for the smirk. Her face red from not just the spicy food.

He raised a hand but otherwise let the napkin hit him and laughed, it felt so good and strange to do so again, his ribs ached slightly for it. It was kind of a sad ache that trailed off in a half happy half 'reality creeping in' sigh.
"So..." He said meaning they really did need to break down and talk.

It was a shock for her too to hear him laugh, but a welcomed one. Laughing was one thing Zac didnt often do... she more than filled that void usually. She smiled, still red eyed from the fire fight in her mouth... but she was glad to see him happy.
Really quick she moved past and dumped the curry into the trash. "Gooooooood riddance." She also put the milk and other items away. Something that she found herself doing more often...cleaning. She needed to grow up, no more mother to coddle.
"....Soo.." She said snapping her attention back. Where.. to start?

"... So he knew..." He filled the gap with the thing that bothered him most. "...about us." The man, vanished once more like a COWARD... knew for god only knew how long the dirty secret. How he knew was anyone's guess.. maybe just looks but... did it matter?
"... Did I ruin his marriage too?"
He glanced down at his shoes and then back up...he was so tired of hearing those words. "Ruined", how was it he had such power to ruin things, but so little power to save them.

"He knew..." She added in, her head sagging in tune with her face turning blank. "He knew and told neither of us...until that phonecall."
Beth fidgeted back and forth now, conversations like this made her nervous. At the question she gave a shrug. "My mother seemed happy, and they never divorced. He just... was never around. He would send letters and such and he paid the bills."
She paused choosing the next words carefully. "I never really knew him so i cant really say for certain what kind of person he was."
"But....I am sorry he didn't call you... have the decency to tell you himself. He has no backbone."

"He probably didn't tell you BECAUSE he didn't want to break up the marriage." he said after a moments careful thought. "...can't blame him for that one. He probably... you're probably the one he considers 'his'... he may be an a** but, thats about my most immediate thought on the matter. Face it... my Father was right when he left my Mom...I couldn't be his. It's a miracle she didn't tell YOUR mom."

She bit her lip next, looking even more nervous.
"Well... to be honest. Im not... sure if my mother...didnt know."
Sighing she sat down in a chair, and ran a hand through her hair. "I caught them fighting once when i was young."

He gave a short quiet laugh. "... then She really is the good twin." He said and shook his head quietly and flipped his hair out of his face. "I'm amazed she let me keep coming over... I'm amazed she and my mom still TALKED if she knew."

"I remember them fighting for a while... we were young." She eyed Zac curiously, he usually kept his hair over his eye. "She honestly... from what i saw? She thought of you as her own child. She always talked well of you... mentioning sometimes well..."
"How she wished you were hers too."

Zac crinkled his nose and folded his arms. He wasn't sure if he should be thrilled at this revelation or let the prickling discomfort of everything he hadn't known keep creeping over him. Why COUDLN'T he just... things would have been so different, he would have been so different. Would he still be where he was now though? What if he had never known the mysteries of the negaverse, what if he'd never removed so many of the degenerates from the city...The senshi would never understand but as miserable as he had been it was a chance to fulfill a much needed service AND to serve something greater than himself...the queen. His eyes had drifted back to the floor as the thoughts tripped through his mind...conflict and a few paths of 'butterfly effect' logic were pushed aside and he glanced up at her.
"She had you... I think it's a generally understood fact I'm 'a handful'. He said putting a grin on.

Beth rolled her eyes at his dry humor, stood up and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I think your more than a 'hand full'" She said squeezing his arm, adding her own humor to it with a well intentioned smile.
"Honestly? My mother was not one really to judge. I wont deny i think she was angry at father in the begining... but she learned to accept it. She is human... and she did love you."

He sighed and rubbed his eyes like he hadn't slept in days, like just the thoughts that were weighing on his mind were wearing him down, thinner and thinner till there was nothing left but that oddly hard look that had appeared in his eyes. "Sometimes, I just don't know what to believe..." He sighed and then looked at her, intense, almost scary the way he looked at her. "But... I want you to know I'd do anything to protect you. I know that has to sound... stupid. But You are the one thing that keeps me sane...sometimes I think if it weren't for you I'd have snapped a long time ago."
