Faiza stiffened a little, like she was expecting a blow when Anila's wings came to rest down on her. Her body set didn't relax, and some of the strain could be heard in her voice.

"There father is normal and Phim children in such a union are rare. They will not blame you, but they may pester you to take them flying." Faiza hadn't been like that, but then her situation was different.

Anila pulled her wings back when Faiza had remained tense. Ah I’m sorry. I just… Well you looked so… I’m sorry. Anila was embarrassed and didn’t know what to say but knew she would probably end up doing it again if a similar situation arose. Her face looked pained when Faiza mentioned the kits asking her to take them flying. Well the little ones might be in for a disappointment, unless Mr. Morin can teach me to fly before the kits are born. She tried to laugh but it sounded hollow.

Faiza recognized that name, but didn't say anything. Could have been someone else. "It is mind over matter, I am sure you will learn if you keep trying," she said. This one would have been an outcast like her, if she couldn't fly. But she would have been raised differently and known, so the point just seemed moot. What could Faiza say, anyway? The wings on her back were fake.

Thank you for your confidence as misplaced as it is. Anila looked about. Ah I-I’m sorry here you have been helping me this whole time and I’ve been keeping you form whatever it is you were doing. I’m sorry. Can I help you to make up for it? Anila didn’t think she would be much help but still it was worth a try. After all Faiza had been so kind to her this entire time.

Faiza lightly shrugged. "I was simply exploring. I enjoy the plains, the terrain is quite agreeable to me. It has its challenges like every other place I have been, but I will figure out the best ways to live. I may have to make a trip to the forest at some point for water unless there are spring of any kind around here." After all this place had the feel of a desert without sand. It stood to reason there had to be an oasis somewhere of some kind.

Mmmm I can you look for a spring or river. Anila wished she could fly so that she would be able to be more useful. As things stood she felt quite useless. I might not fly but I am good at climbing and digging. Anila flexed her paw glad that she could at least do something. If nothing else at least she could provide some conversation for Faiza.

Faiza shrugged, though she was mildly amused. "The land is quite flat, not very good for climbing or digging. I was thinking merely of walking and seeing what I come across." It would help her learn the land too. The trees around here were scarce, and provided excellent landmarks as well as the occasional bit of shade. Thus far Faiza had come across few rocks of any kind, which surprised her a little. She'd thought rocks were everywhere, but without rivers or mountains there probably wasn't much of a source for them.

Still at least it’s something. Anila shrugged. It was true that there didn’t seem to be many trees in the area, but there were some. As long as you don’t mind my tagging along you lead and I’ll follow. Anila waited patiently for an answer. Her stomach was knotted up fearing rejection. My leg muscles are still sore for my exercises, I can’t fly, and the only talents I do have are useless here. I’ve been nothing but a burden so far so why she would want me along would be beyond me. Perhaps I shouldn’t have even asked. I just wanted to be nice and helpful for once. I should go. It's pointless for me to be here. Faiza is obviously more adept to surviving on her own then I am. I would do nothing but slow her down.

Faiza shrugged lightly. "If you wish to follow me that is your choice. I do not mind." She began to continue forward, moving with the graceful long strides she usually did. She tried to slow down just a little though, so as not to undo all the work she'd done trying to relax Anila's muscles.

Anila kept up as best she could thankful to not be rejected.. It was mildly painful to follow Faiza but Anila kept up. She kept her eyes open on the surroundings while enjoying the heat. She tried to think about where water would be in a place like this. I should keep watch for thickets of plants or animals. That would mean water.

Faiza didn't give much of an indication she heard Anila besides a small flick of her tail, which was currently resting on her back to keep from being dragged through the grass.

The pair wandered for about half an hour, with little to show for it. They'd see a few trees and a couple small burrowing animals, but nothing to indicate water yet. Faiza wasn't worried though, she was sure they were getting closer. She looked back to see how Anila was fairing.

Anila was keeping up but she was obviously in pain. No complaint came from her lips though. She was suffering in silence. Noticing Faiza looking back at her she smiled. She swallowed even though her throat was dry. I need to get some water soon. I have been exercising and walking and I haven't eaten or had anything to drink in quite some time. When we find water I will need to take a drink.

Anila couldn't fool Faiza. Her trained eye had both the touch of a warrior and a healer, and both sides honed in on the signs. She could see the way Anila was carrying her body showed she was favoring muscles, and there was a shadow of a pained grimace on her face that the smile couldn't entirely erase. Her breathing appeared to have gotten more strained, and she was willing to bet after all the walking and exercise previously done that Anila was thirsty.

"Perhaps you should wait here and rest while I look. If I feel I am getting too far I can simply circle rather than continue putting out more distance." It would be faster that way too. Faiza wasn't sure how she'd get water back to the Phim, but as long as there was a source close enough by them Anila should be able to walk it. Even better this was a spot with one of the few trees in the area, about fifty feet to their right. Faiza would have no trouble finding the Phim again, and the tree could provide some shade.

The look on Faiza face and her words were enough to convince Anila that she had been caught. “Yes. That would be for the best. As it stands I’m only slowing you down.” Anila looked at the clump of trees nearby. “I’ll be in the shade of a tree. I don’t think I’d like waiting out here in the sun. I’m sorry being being such a bother to you Miss Faiza.” Anila started to head to the clump of trees figuring that Faiza would continue on her travels and leave Anila behind. I’ll dig out a pit and place leaves in it. In the morning there will be plenty of dew on the leaves for me to get a sip of water. Yes that should do. And it will give me a chance to rest.

Faiza nodded. "I shall return before the sun sets if I can not find water before then." The sun was high overhead, indicating that day was only halfway through so far. She watched Anila start to wander towards the tree, then faced forward and began to move again. Slowly her pace began to increase until Faiza was running in a smooth and easy lope.
