Traumatized Dollie Honestly, every anti-anime Christian I've met is xenophobic to some extent. It's a cartoon. A drawing. The only purpose for it is entertainment. Next thing you know, they'll be saying that Captain Underpants is of the devi- too late.Exactly, how else does the devil attack people like you? with entertainment, this will keep us from reading the bible, even praying.

tabashino [-Erik-] I'm not saying this for being an atheist, I am saying this because I, like every other person who enjoys logic in an argument, can dismiss without proof what has been asserted without proof. The pastor's testimony, for instance. BETTER YET! I will dismiss it with proof. I used to watch pokemon, digimon and all that super evil stuff aired on TV. I never rebeled against my parents. Sure, I did some nasty stuff like every other children, but nothing too serious. I am one peace loving muthafacka who enjoyed watching anime for kids. And I am an atheist. Well, in both pokemon and yu-gi-oh there are dragons. A dragon is the symbol of the devil himself and in the bible it mentions satan and being the dragon. Who does not know this? [angry]Look, I know your faith may be weak or that you can be easily influenced by such things like cartoons with dragons in them, but that alone doesn't explain anything but you being easily influenced by dumb things and stupid preachers.[/angry] The bible also mentions satan being a wolf and a snake. Did you know there are many other cartoons where many characters are wolves and snakes? What are your thoughts on that?

I'm sorry, did you just imply that entertainment is of the devil? sounds like everything fun is of the devil.. As Leonard Ravenhill said "Entertainment is the devils substitute for joy" it's not like we shouldn't be entertained but too much of it keeps us from Christ who is all we need, people have spent hours in prayer and didn't even realize it because Christ is truly beutiful and AWESOME, he provides true joy. And now may I ask you Tsukasa Wave and Traumatized Dollie, why are you making fun of tabashino? I thought as Christians and followers of Christ we are supposed to be loving? If you want to disagree with him then do it lovingly without going along with Erick who was making fun of tabashino Tsukasa Wave. I suggest you all apologize to tabashino and repent of it and all other things like this. As for you tabashino thanks for sticking up the truth and God who is truth and I for one would like to say sorry for all this. I actually agree with what you say biggrin I suggest all of you who are for anime watch the these videos; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elKQ1PknxC0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpto5i7A-IU You can't just ignore God's word all true Christians tremble at it and obey. As Christians we are to turn our backs on the world and pursue light, not darkness. How does anime glorify God?

starry night-163 Traumatized Dollie, why are you making fun of tabashino? Um, please point out to me where I "made fun of him." neutral Also, not everything we do MUST glorify God. It's pretty much impossible for everything we do to glorify God and we remain sane.

This debate is similar to our old Halloween thread - you should check it out if you want to compare the similarities.
If something causes you to sin or stray - keep away from it.
If anime, in this case, causes one to become easily mailable and influenced by certain ideas, then the individual should abstain from it.
I concede that there is a plethora of violence, abhorrent sexuality, language, etc. in anime. I watch enough anime like most others and that point is obvious. It is best to watch anything in general with discretion. As believers we should try to avoid anything that could damage us spiritually.
No one should scoff at anyone here for what makes them uncomfortable spiritually.
Strangely enough, it was after watching The End of Evangelion that I seriously looked into Christianity in my early teenage years... as much of a contradiction as that sounds. whee
That's all I have to say about that. 3nodding
