Keela nearly cringed as an all too familiar voice called out her name. Shard it, not him. "B'nas," she replied dryly, smoothly removing his hand from her back without drawing attention to them. "Has it been a while? Can't say that I really noticed. Also I've no idea what you're talking about." There were some times when the brownrider could be entertaining, but at the moment she wasn't in the mood to deal with his overt flirtatiousness. She didn't want to do anything to risk setting her green off sooner than necessary if Taith really insisted on waiting till they returned to the Weyr. Sure, they could go now to be safe, but that would also mean there would only be blues back at home (and knowing her proud green, she'd rather take the risk here where there were higher Benden colors present than be denied her choice).

Isn't that Milnth's rider? Taith asked, glancing about for the brown in question. He was surely nearby-- Ah! There he was! Was he flirting with a runt? Ugh, disgusting. (Nevermind the fact that said 'runt' was way bigger than her. It was still a runt in her mind.) Well, she'd have to fix that. Milnth! It has been a while, she called out to him, heading over the brown's way with chest puffed out and head held high. You're looking quite well. I've heard you were a rather close contender in that queen flight. Yes, she would right this wrong and distract him entirely from the other female. Her current 'condition' would likely help that along very readily.

B'nas expected nothing less from Keela and laughed a little with her "I'm shocked" he puts a hand to his chest in mock horror "you don't remember?" he laughed. However he sensed an underlying current to her attitude but at the moment he couldn't quite put his finger on what that was. "want a drink Keela? they actually have Benden white here" he said. "at least THAT is free from the taint of the ancients" he grumbled, betraying his annoyance at the decision made.

Milnth was about to 'brush' against the crimson again when a shining Green adressed him. "Taith!" he exclaimed, eyeing her color His mind shutting out the Crimson for the moment. "Taith, you're in excellent colour today" he replied to her, Impressed by how tall and radiant she seemed. "i would have caught her too!" he said proudly "If Galvanth hadn't taken those swipes at me" he got up and moved closer to the green, his tail lashing around as he eyed the other males, especially any NOT from Benden.

The greenrider rolled her eyes. "Again, it would help if I knew what you were talking about," she replied wryly. She had to smirk a bit though at his remark on the ancients though. "I take it you're not pleased with the decision then either?" Keela remarked, heading for the drinks. She didn't bother looking back to see if he followed-- she knew he would. "Unfortunately there's not much we can do at this point. The choice has been made and we can only hope for the sake of our dragons that it works."

Next time you'll just have to swipe back then, she replied, eyes whirling with mischief. Can't play nice during a Flight you know. It's all or nothing.

"I haven't even discussed weather or not she wants to chew firestone." S'kagi admitted. They'd been concentrating too hard on the complicated lessons involved with riding a crimson, which meant lessons that would help her if she decided to clutch, as well as if they decided to fight.

If all males are this stupid I will NEVER let any of them fly me!! Luvith snarled, annoyed at loosing her spotlight to, of all things, a proddy Benden Green. Males were clearly impossible.

S'kagi flinched at the volume of her mental voice, becoming aware that she'd lost the attention of her questionable brown suitor.

"OK I admit I've been kind of trying not to think about it." And riders like B'nas were a major reason -why- he was trying not to think about it.

"Food would be ok." He admitted. "Sorry, Luvith's mad. She just lost her suitor. One of Benden's greens is proddy." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, resisting the urge to follow up on Luviths raging mood, which was prompting him to wander back toward B'nas and kick him in the rear end on Luvith's behalf. "Maybe some Klah."

S'kor was mingling slowly. Not really talking with anyone, but more listening a little as he passed groups. Like he expected some were pleased about the choice and others were undoubtedly annoyed. Only time would tell if they had made the right choices.

Scarath, I'm going for a quick chat with the Weyrleaders. Shout if you need anything. S'kor turned his footsteps towards the group of leaders. It didn't seem like many had approached them yet. He looked for one that was currently unoccupied.

A soft rumble came from his chest. 'That is good Mine. There are many interesting actions.' He was watching the interplays between dragons as his rider observed their riders.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wykla hung along the outside. How had she gotten involved in this? She wasn't sure her name had been pulled randomly from some group. With all these extra riders not from Melvren, the young girl was doing her best to stay out of trouble.
B'nas chuckled "your memory for a bed mate is shockingly bad Keela" he smirked, taking a long swallow of the Benden white in his hand. "Hmmmm, it failed once, and look where it got us" he practically snarled under his breath "who knows, maybe it was all that meddling that caused the Atypes in the first place" he mumbled, not meaning the words to be spoken out loud. He instantly clamped his mouth shut the moment they were out of it.
"injuring another is not my style, not even to catch a queen" he said frostily, knowing that the speed they had been flying, if that swipe had caught in the wrong place, it would have been a long while before he'd been chasing even greens again "Benden will show it's colors here, we won out on the gold in the end, and i will catch you" he replied amused. He could tell she would rise soon, but only SHE knew exactly when. In the mean time he would be on the lookout for likely competitors, and he would defend his right to at least lay beside her most of the time. he would be ready... Benden would triumph yet again.
"Don't look so cheerful." Kazvar grunted, holding out a small, cheerfully chirping green flit at arms length, as though he were somewhat hoping someone would come along and relieve him of it's presence.
Being an stubborn lurker himself, he'd noticed pretty quickly when he wasn't the only one glowering around the edges of the gathering.
"That's my job."
Zeren probably would have mockingly fallen over, or some such similar gesture, since Kazvar hadn't exactly made a habit of making jokes.
Wykla blinked as she heard a voice. Slowly she turned to locate the source and spotted a man with a green flit. She eyed him warily, "I didn't think I was. Who says you're the only one who can do that?" It was a bit bold of her. Somehow Wykla seemed to sense he was similar to her.
A bronze flit came to land on the girl's shoulder. He gave a trill to the green.
The little green chittered with even greater excitement at the sight of the brown, trying to wiggle out of Kazvar's grip to go investigate, as Kazvar quirked an smile that looked more like someone holding the corner of his mouth under some kind of threat.
"Seems to be the common consensus." He shrugged. "Unhappy with the company, or the decision?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 20, 2010 6:44 pm
Wykla arched a brow. "Common consensus," she snorted. "Look where its gotten us." At the mention of company she looked around at all the people mingling and dragons watching from the sidelines. "Its more the decision." She moved a little closer to talk and watch the people without being too close. "I don't understand how they can trust him or what he offers. Why choose now to reveal himself?"
She glanced over at him. "I'm Wykla. This boy's Boreal. Who's your green?"
Boreal crooned back as his green eyes whirled happily.
She rolled her eyes yet again. "Please, I'm a greenrider. I've had quite a host of 'bed mates' as you put it over the past eight years, so excuse me if I don't remember you more than any other specifically." Yes, she remembered that Milnth had flown Taith before, but it didn't particularly matter to her (nor did it give her any further clue as to what he had been talking about before). At his comment on Atypes, she quirked a brow. "I don't quite think this is the place for any such remarks."
I didn't say injure, just swipe at, she replied, not brought down by his frosty tone. Close enough to make him back off, but not enough to actually injure. But whatever, what's done is done. All I'm saying is that if you hope to catch me, you're going to have to work for it. She sauntered by him, tail brushing teasingly against his side as she scouted out the area for other possible males. From her Weyr anyway (though she was reluctant to admit a few of the other ones looked rather fine as well, and she definitely wouldn't say no to a bronze if he tried).
I am still unsure of this, Mine.
I know. S'ren pat his dragon comfortingly. They could have spoken up with the rest when the speeches were being done, but in all honestly they hadn't been sure which side to choose. Both had entirely valid points to be made. In the end they had voted for the Ancient crafting, but even then there were not 100% on the matter. At this point however it doesn't make any difference. We have made our decision and we must stand by it.
True enough. The brown looked about the gathering semi-curiously. Why don't you go and mingle some, Mine? It is not often that all of the Weyrs are gathered like this. It was certainly a rare opportunity for interaction.
Only if you do too, he replied jokingly, smiling up at his dragon briefly before going to get something to drink. And harpers don't count. You need to expand your own social circle.
Tereth let out an amused rumble, though he tried to feign disappointment in his reply. Very well then... Although perhaps it wasn't entirely feigned. He did love the harpers.
Once-Harper-now-Riders didn't count, right? Akaya seized on the familiar brown sight like a someone dying of thirst and presented with water. "Tereth!" As one of the out-Weyr greenriders drawn for the lottery, the young woman had felt incredibly out of place amongst all the higher ranked (not to mention many older riders with far more experience). And then there'd been the queen flight--as if she wasn't nervous enough about Sleeth's reaching adult size. She knew it would be far less of an event for her own green's Rising, but it didn't stop her from worrying about it... But who cared about all of that when there were dragons who loved music to talk to?
And Sleeth felt the same, of course. Tereth! Isn't all of this exciting? So many people! And dragons! I am bigger now but they are all still so much bigger! The striped green happily chattered away.
Akaya, Sleeth, the brown greeted warmly, happy to see the two familiar faces. Yes, there is quite a bit going on here. And you have grown up quite lovely, Sleeth, he complemented. Of course, still not as lovely as a certain other green of his liking, but she would likely still have quite a selection of suitors in her first flight. Have you both been well?
S'ren meanwhile had reached the drink table and was not currently paying much attention to his brown's conversation. He was still thinking over the matters that had just transpired.
Rikki wasn't sure what to do with the mingling. She preferred being in the water with Phro, but she figured it would be idea to visit the rest. The young woman looked at everyone and felt out of place.
Thank you! Akayamine and I have been well, though mostly we have been keeping busy. There was training and then here and here has been so full of different things... Sleeth's wings flared out slightly in excitement, and had to tuck them back in, eyes whirling green. And the Harpers here! They have sea-songs!
"Sleeth has been very excited to hear new material," Akaya added, amused. Of course with draconic memory, "new" was a bit of a misnomer. "And now that we are starting to have free time again, we can work on practicing together more." It had come in handy, scales and the like, for working on their mental bond, so they'd never truly not practiced music of some kind or another. But, as rider with an adult dragon, the pair ought to have a little more time for frivolous endeavors like dragon choirs. Well, unless even utilizing Ancientcraft as a solution required them all to spend days searching for plants again.
