Asu actually had nothing to do with Sonnet wanting to have a Christmas party over at the house. It just seemed fair, seeing as their house was the biggest, and really, her family and Deskri's family was practically one big family anyway, right? So after her own pokings and pleadings with Deskri, she was able to get him to agree to have it here, and she of course was thrilled.
Each family was to bring something to eat, but Sonnet was handling the main course and one side dish. The main course, was of course, roasted chicken. Two of them to be presice. She wanted to make sure that Deskri actually ate, which meant ham was out, and she didn't want to tempt her luck with turkey. They were in the oven right now, almost ready.
The side dish was of course macaroni and cheese. Deskri abhored mashed potatoes, so if the others wanted any, they would have to bring it. She was sure her mother commenting on bringing some sort of potato, so it all should be good.
"I'm sorry I took up so much oven space..." she apologized for like the 10th time since the cooking had started. He had to bake his brownies one pan at a time, which Sonnet could only imagine as being a bit on the long side.

"It's fine, your food is actually good food rather than y'know.. s**t." Deskri shook his head with a hint of a smile in one corner of his mouth. He really didn't care, baking brownies one tray at a time at least kept the smell in the air, which in his opinion, was better than any air freshener in the world.
"They should be here soon. I hope Asu remembered to bring her folding table and chairs..." he glanced to the small square table he had which could only comfortably sit four people. As soon as he finished speaking, the doorbell rang. "Annnd that would be them." He rolled his eyes, though still had that tiny hint of a smile and wandered off to go answer the door.
Hayden was of course the one standing immediately on the other side of the door. This earned him a classic glare from Deskri, which he of course, ignored. "Smells like brownies in there, surely you made more than that?" Hayden started into the house, moving past Deskri. He was followed by Asu, and then Sono.
"Hello to you too, and no, I didn't make anything else. Sonnet is making chicken." Deskri moved away from the door once everyone was inside and headed back to the kitchen. "Set up whatever you want, I have brownies to watch."

"Hello!" Sonnet called from inside the kitchen, a bright smile on her face just because she was so happy with how everything was turning out.
"My side of the family said they might be running just a bit late," she said. "They should be arriving in a few minutes."
She looked at Deskri when he came back in. "I just realized I never asked if anyone in your family is a vegetarian....are they?"

"Uhhh..." Deskri looked out at his siblings with a mildly curious expression on his face.
"I eat chicken on a rare occasion. Like, holidays. So you're in luck." Hayden replied with a shrug. He was trying out the vegetarian thing, so far it was going fairly well.
"Oh joy." Deskri rolled his eyes again and looked back at Sonnet. "Hayden says he'll eat the chicken anyway. He's probably just being difficult because he can." He folded his arms across his chest.
Sono peeked into the kitchen and offered Sonnet a wave. "It's been awhile since I've seen you, how are you doing?" A grin spread over his face. He hadn't really changed much at all, save for the lack of hat which was replaced by a terrible case of bedhead.

Sonnet was about to have a mild freakout about Hayden being a sort of vegetarian and her not preparing vegetables, but Sono distracted her with his cheery grin.
"Hey there Sono! It has been much too long. I am so glad you could make it!" she chimed, giving him a wave before setting to the task of getting out the two roasting chickens from the oven.
As she was doing so, the doorbell rang. Sonnet looked to Deskri and then outwards to the public in general. "That should be my side. Could someone get that please? My hands are kind of full..."

"Indeed it has. I'm glad I could too. Work was understandable enough to let me off for a few days." He laughed a bit, which of course sounded like the bell he'd been given ages ago.
Since no one jumped for the opportunity to let Sonnet's family in, Deskri returned to the door and opened it up, just hoping that the other menace in his life wasn't on the other side of the door. He'd picked up on Cedric's... distaste for him. Granted, it was earned, but he wasn't exactly sure of the TRUE reason for why it was earned.
"Anyways, I'm gonna set up that table." Hayden grabbed the table Asu had been holding and hauled it into the little dining area next to the kitchen. "Are we all gonna fit in here?" He looked around as he started to set the extra table up.

Sadly for Deskri, the front runner of the Taji horde was indeed Cedric. As a teen at a whopping 6'5", he towered over Deskri, and as soon as he caught sight of the short purple adult, he placed on his typical scowl.
"Deskri..." he said blankly, inverted eyes seeming to twinkle with something...mischevious down deep inside himself. Tonight would be the begginning of the end of Cedric's hate for Deskri, if everything he and Hayden had planned went off without a hitch. He didn't expect them to just come out confessing, no. It would probably happen when they left, and either Deskri would come to his senses.
Or he'd be dead by New Years.
He caught sight of Hayden and the scowl disappated as he walked past Deskri towards him.
"Hayden," he called, giving the fellow teen a wave. "You and I should really move into our dorm room soon. I'm getting rather tired of sharing a room with..."
As if on cue, Kyle came barraling into the house, probably through Deskri's legs.
"HI EVERYBODY! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!" she cheered, waving to everyone.
Mizu sighed and gave Deskri an apologetic look. "Hi there..."

Deskri immediately regretted opening the door. When did Cedric get so damn tall?! He didn't even remember seeing him at the Secret Santa exchange... then again he had been rather paranoid about being attacked when he wasn't looking or something. He didn't even have the will power to glare back, something about Cedric just made all of his attitude and spark crumble into nothingness. "Cedric." He managed to blurt out before easily moving aside for the taller Meta to walk by. The sight of Kyle burned his eyes, ohhhh GOD all of those colors... he couldn't help but look away, but managed to resist shielding his ears from her rather loud greeting. "Hello Mizu... counter's free if you need to set that stuff down." Still wincing, he pointed to the barely visible counter in the kitchen. (blocked due to the doorway)
Hayden looked up from the table and lit up in a sort of half grin, half smirk. He'd been waiting for this very moment. Sooner or later, the preparations would be snuck into place and then the real party would begin. "Oh sure, I'm already half packed. I can start moving in tomorrow if you want." He flipped the table into place and then leaned on it. "Oh, I can't possibly imagine why you'd be tired of sharing a room with your dear sister Kyle." The half-grin, half-smirk turned into a full-on smirk. He couldn't help but tease even the people he liked every so often.

Mizu smiled and gave a motherly smooch on Deskri's forehead. "Thank you sweetie~" she cooed before heading off to the kitchen for some needed catch up time with her oldest (but still a teen) daughter.
Cedric gave a bitter sarcastic laugh. "Oh, I know it is hard to imagine, but even her sweetness is beginning to grate on my nerves...Sort of like how I KNOW you miss your dear brother Deskri living with you at your house." Ah sarcasm. That made him feel better.
Kyle tilted her head, confused. "I thought you said I was a bright annoying brat? Since when am I a sweetie?" She humphed. She'd start being purpousfly annoying right now if Mizu hadn't made her promise to behave.

Deskri couldn't help but make a bit of a face. By now Mizu was sure to understand his behavior problems, so he didn't really feel guilty. There was just something utterly humiliating about being kissed on the forehead like that. He was an adult now, wasn't he too old for that crap? He wandered back over to Sonnet and checked the oven. Brownies were almost done.
"Who wouldn't miss having their own personal emo kid to mess with?" Hayden shrugged his shoulders, though the annoyance showed in his eyes. "It's sarcasm Kyle, you should learn it. It really pisses people off." He snickered, he'd probably regret letting her in on that later, but still...
"Hayden... you said you'd behave." Sono cast a rather disapproving look at his youngest sibling. Hayden shrugged it off, there wasn't really anything Sono could actually do to him. At least, nothing he'd experienced. Son had been holding back any time he used his powers on his brother. No need to freak the kid out, really... "Anyway, I'm going to set the table." He then grabbed whatever dishes Asu had brought from her house and started to set them up.

The rest of the time was spent with idle chit chat as things were set up and brought out to the dining room of sorts. Foods were placed on the counter space as to have enough room on the tables for people to sit and eat. The mothers seemed to congregate together for the most part during this time, while Kyle was left to amuse herself because Hayden and Cedric kept huddling together and talking quietly and whenever she tried to listen in she was shooed away.
Now, people were sitting and food was on everyones plates, and was time to eat.

Deskri had taken at least a bite's worth of everything, since Asu would lecture him until the end of the world if he didn't at least try it all. He of course got the bad stuff down first, or what he considered to be bad stuff, and was left with some chicken, mac 'n' cheese, and a few slices of his brownies. Ahhh, that was a dinner for sure. He ate fast, eating in a big group was a little too out of his comfort zone.
Sometime between arriving and sitting down to eat, Hayden had placed the last device for their plan. He was surprisingly good at acting like nothing suspicious was about to happen, or at least, would happen in the very near future. He took a bit of the chicken, but primarily stuck to the vegetarian dishes. Upon noticing that Deskri seemed like he was in a hurry to get away from the table, he opted to eat a little faster than normal as well. No way in hell was the main target going to get away. No. Way.

Everyone seemed to be pleased with the food. That made Sonnet happy. She was slightly worried though. Every now and then she caught Cedric glacing over ay Deskri before continuing to talk to Hayden, usually about music that Hayden recommended for certain instances. She was pretty sure she caught the words 'for a funeral' in there somewhere...
Still the food was good and everyone seemed to be happy. She busied herself with taking up the plates once everyone was done and started doing dishes,
To which Cedric quickly got up from the table to assist her with, but not before giving Hayden a silent command to watch the target and to make sure it didn't see the package. Cedric knew Deskri would avoid it at all costs if he saw it.
Soon. Soon everything would fall into place.

Deskri found it slightly unnerving that both Hayden and Cedric kept giving him glances over the course of the meal. It really freaked him out, already his paranoid thought process was going through the details of how the two were going to drag him out back and kill him. Just for the hell of it. By the time he was finished eating, he'd freaked himself out so much that when Cedric got him he noticeably stiffened up.
For a split second, Hayden broke his calm facade and gained a smirk. He could tell Deskri was freaking himself out already and that was amusing beyond words for him. "So Des, you have a bathroom?" He pushed his chair back and stood up while cracking his knuckles.
"Down the hall, last room on the left." Deskri replied perhaps a little too quickly.
"Awesome." Hayden sauntered off, but had no intention of going to the bathroom. One surefire way to keep Deskri distracted long enough was to go snooping through his things. Mainly his art room. He hadn't seen it, but Asu had mentioned it once and so he was about to go see it for himself.
Deskri of course, noticed the unusual amount of time Hayden was spending out there and opted to get up and go check on him. Since he had such a one-track mind, he didn't even notice the newest addition to his living room ceiling. Once he was halfway down the hall, he stopped. The door to his art room was open just a crack. He'd shut it all the way before anyone had come over. He pushed it open the rest of the way. "Hayden what the ******** are you doing in here?!"
To the rest of the DeLaplaine family, this was not something unusual and so Asu and Sono continued to chatter with Mizu at the table, despite hearing Deskri's rather angry outburst.

As the dishes were nearing completion, Sonnet finally looked over at her brother, a bemused smile on her face.
"So are you going to explain the mistletoe?" she asked him.
Cedric stiffened before laughing meekly.
"W...what mistletoe?"
Sonnet placed her hands on her hips and faced her brother, glaring at him. He gulped and took a few steps back.
"It's part of a Christmas gift!" he explained, and Sonnet looked him up and down before sighing.
"I swear, if you and Hayden planned something stupid..."
Cedric was about to ask how she was so sure Hayden was in on it, but stopped himself. This was Sonnet he was talking to. She was twice as observant as he was, and he was pretty damn observant.
"Just trust me. I'm sure you'll like it," he said finally once everything was done, his confidence back as he ushered her to the place where the plant in question dangled.
Sonnet gave him a questioning look, to which he smiled.
"Now we just wait for the other half."
