Lily grinned working happily with both hand, pushing in pin after pin, for several minutes. It was amusing how her design was reminding her of the ocean and was much to the effect of a wave splashed across a pumpkin.
Pushing in the last pin, Lily leaned back and admired her work. Her wave pumpkin was too cute and she hoped that she would be able to take it home at the end of the night.

Serenade had passed by the pumpkin booth yesterday and thought it would be fun to try. Plus, she swore she had seen Bo there but hadn't the time to say hi because she was busy. She had been helping Eve to carve pumpkins for their booth too, which seemed difficult at first, but once you got down to it, it was really quite fun. So far, she thought as she approached the booth with a smile, this didn't seem like carving? It seemed as though more people were drawing on the pumpkins instead, which was a pretty interesting idea!
Serenade stood there, staring at the pumpkin, wondering what to draw. Images of the Negaverse came into her mind, the zombies from Barren Pines even, but she shook her head.
Even though she was a piano player and therefore deemed as an artsy person, she thought sometimes she just wasn't creative enough. She had absolutely no inkling of what she should draw.

As the reigning champion of pumpkin decorating, Bo was more than pleased to come back for a round two of awesome. He was mostly just there for Serenade's moral support though. Spotting the seafoam haired teen sliding up to one of the tables, Bo trailed along behind her, grin plastered on his face. He plopped down beside her without warning, rattling the bench beneath the two of them.
ADD though he might be, Bo never had a problem paying attention to Serenade. "Hey there, Sere," he said, poking at her side playfully. "I see you are preparing to win the pumpkin decorating contest." His faith in her was unflappable.

"Bo!" Serenade exclaimed with a jump; she had been staring at the pumpkin so intently that she hadn't noticed him making his way over at all. The poke elicited a laugh as she glanced up at the tall teen. "I don't even know what to do though." She confessed, blinking up at him. "I heard you won yesterday though, Mr Champion of Pumpkins!" She was proud of him! The unicorn pumpkin had certainly looked pretty!

Bo puffed his chest out. He liked when Serenade was happy, even more when it was him causing that happiness. "Ah, it was nothing. They showed The Last Unicorn on TV this weekend so I had them on the brain." He tapped at the side of his head as if to shake them out.
"What are you thinking about doing?" he asked, picking up a bottle of green glitter glue and holding it up to the light.

Serenade perked up. "I saw that movie! It was so sad though... especially at the end." Poor poor unicorn. It was so hard to go through all those troubles and then lose your love, and the girl could sympathize, even though others may think that someone her age wouldn't comprehend how hard it was.
"I dunno." She said, eying the glitter glue he held. "Eve said I should go as this cute pokemon for Halloween; it's um, green and white and has a pink flower, so I guess I could draw that?" She was better at carving though, she decided, and once she was done, she grinned up at Bo sheepishly. "Well, at least that was fun?"

While Serenade worked, Bo mostly just played with the glitter glue and Sharpies, stopping every so often to tell her what a wonderful job she was doing. He meant it when he said it, even if he was full of compliments for everyone. Her pumpkin looked great and he said as much, holding it up to show to a few people who passed by.
"I don't want to jinx it," he said, crossing two fingers, "but I think you've got a real shot at winning this thing!"
Truth be told, Bo hadn't looked at any other pumpkins. He just always believed in Serenade -- and why not? She was a pretty steadfast person. With the day's competition winding down, Bo gave Serenade a hug, offered to walk her home, and then disappeared off away from the booth.

"Good evening, Mother. How was work today?" Once again the teal-haired lad nodded his head to the brunette as she entered the booth.
The woman smiled at her son's question while making her way to the displayed pumpkins. "It was a long day, but that was mostly due to how many meetings I had with my publicist today." Anastasia's teal eyes moved from pumpkin to pumpkin.
"It would seem that many of the participants are sneaking their own tools in for this contest, aren't they?"
"Very astute observation, Mother."
The woman stopped in front of a pumpkin with round pushpins decorating the orange shell. "This one is rather unique. I will contact the winner in the morning." She was not going to make the same mistake twice about gender assumption.
The lad hurried to clean up before his mother drove him back to his school. Once again, after school was over, the teal-haired fellow was back in the booth.

Istas was back again. Looking at the new pumpkin winner. She sighed, not her again. It seemed she was having very bad luck with the pumpkin art contest.
She settled back down onto one of the chairs with another pumpkin and stared at it for a little while. She wasn't sure what she was going to do. She wanted to try to win, she was happy that Bo won. She didn't know the other winner, but she was wondering if she just wasn't good enough to win.
She took up a paint brush and dabbed it back in the black glitter paint she'd found the day before and started painting. She'd seen a squirrel outside earlier at the base of a tree. So she started working on what she could remember of how that squirrel looked. It took her a while to finish as she was trying to be careful and not get any stray marks or dripping paint.
She'd picked another tall pumpkin on propose. She just wanted to know what the prize was, was that so bad?
When she finished she pushed herself away from the table and looked at her work. Wondering if she maybe should've went back to the felt and made something different. She shook her head, since she was already done this one would have to do for today.

Ariel was looking amazed at the winning pumpkin. So lovely she thought. She decided to do her best once again. Taking a pumpkin and a knife on the table she started preparing a new one.
She finished it, put a candle, lighted it and looked at the result. Not bad she thought.

Another day, another pumpkin needed to be decorated ! Such were things, really. Xavier had arrived on rather early, and then dedicated himself to his task, forgetting about the world around him. Good thing no one had tried to sneak on him, or those present at the booth would probably have been very amazed indeed.
He hadn't bothered to try to sneak carving tools, and instead just used what at the stand. He'd found this weird little pumpkin, kind of... butt shaped, and that was the reason why he chose it - before someone could do something too immature with it. There were kids around, after all.
He didn't feel like being complicated today, so he just painted it - one half looked a little bit like a night sky. It was kind of pretty, really.

Tallulah had known what she wanted to do with her pumpkin since she'd spotted its squat, skinny shape in the patch. Normally she was rather polite to vegetables, but this one she was carving with a vengeance. It would be a ghost, but not too scary - oh, perfect! She rocked back on her heels and admired her work. It was a little sloppy, especially the dots, which weren't quite round enough, but the point was clear enough. "Behold!" she giggled. "Pac-pumpkin!"

Aitana was trying just about everything that she could manage at the festival. She’d eaten just about enough to want to vomit, she’d thrown balls at targets, shot monsters on the hayride, tried to get rings around glasses, she’d even tried the booth were some stranger was able to guess her weight within five pounds. Spirits high and wallet starting to get light she paused as she neared a booth smelling heavily of paint. Staring at the sign for awhile she deciphered the purpose, to paint a pumpkin and it was free too! Sliding in she waved at the man dressed as musketeer to let him know that she was going to try and headed over to find a pumpkin.
A tall one, a couple short ones, even a couple nice looking white ones, she finally settled on a fat orange one, taking it to a table before sitting to work on it. Markers, paint, glitter, glue, Aitana stared at the display of supplies for a long moment thinking before she finally picked up a brush. Slowly light green circles appeared, one larger than the other, whether by accident or on purpose.
The brush was dipped in pink and a swath of paint was put onto the bottom. Black came next and slowly but surely a face appeared on the gourd looking atleast slightly perturbed. She leaned back to inspect it, adding eyebrows with two quick motions.
It was an okay looking pumpkin. Not terrifying but not cutesy either.. a little bit on the plain side actually… Aitana looked over the supplies again thoughtfully. Markers… maybe. Glitter, definitely not. But then she spotted it. The popsicle sticks used to apply the glitter if one didn’t want to use their hands. A mischevious grin touched her tanned face.
Swiping the stick she grasped it low in her hand, positioning the stick so that only an inch or so stuck out from below her fist. And then.. much to the startled surprise of the person sitting next to her, she attacked the poor pumpkin.
Jab jab jab, the little wooden stick dented and chipped at the orange skin of the pumpkin, her fist coming down again and again. And for a good five minutes the girl was in the zone, her eyes focused, tip of the tongue stuck out of the edge of her lips. If the musketeer had come over to try and stop her she’d not noticed, only stopping when the pumpkin had a gaping hole large enough to stick her hand down into.
The popsicle stick was painted brown and silver and then driven into the pumpkin until it stood on it’s own. Aitana used the brush to splatter red paint around the hole and down the side, grinning while she painted her hand with the same red, leaving a ‘bloodly’ hand streak down the back of the poor pumpkin. In a final act of desicration she stuck her hand inside, enjoying the pleasant squish of the seeds and flesh before pulling pumpkin ‘brains’ out to dangle from the hole.
Beautiful!!! Just like a scary movie! Spooky and creative! She admired her work for a few long moments before collecting the whole thing and walking it over to Howl. Her smile was wide and proud as she offered it towards him and the display table.- “I use sparkle stick for knife. Scary, yes?” –She may have even still had a little red and pumpkin slime smeared across her cheek as she bid him farewell and shuffled off to clean her hands.

Aitana was proud, but… no normal person would blame Howl if he decided to try and hide her pumpkin in the back. –

The next day, Eve was dragged to the pumpkin contest by Serenade. The latter didn't seem too fussed by the fact that she hadn't won; she had gone through much worse let downs before. Instead, she talked about how Bo had won with his picture of a unicorn and urged her other handmaiden to try too!
Eve sighed and acquiesced to her princess' request (although she privately wondered why Imogen wasn't the one dragged here), getting to work at carving. It was along the lines of a floral design (how predictable!) and quite pretty, if she said so herself!
