He'd gotten her attention. However, the reason Shehk suddenly sat up just a little bit straighter was very different from the reasons that other students may have suddenly perked up to pay attention; He was a vampire. He was one of her own (sort of. If a vampire would let a lower-subclass sort-of-vampire claim them as one of their own)... and she still couldn't smell him. This was something that if she'd been able to praise it, she would have.

But that would have been a really strange introductory statement.

'Hello, I am Shehk and I can't smell you, what detergent do you use so I can make my boyfriend stalker start using it? Oh, and where did you buy your fantastic vest? I just can never seem to find a good pinstriped jacket without it getting ripped....'

Knowing her luck, the answer to the second question was that he'd collected them well in his youth and she was just SoL. Sob.

Either way, it probably wasn't hard to see that Shehk didn't regret her choice in sitting up front of the classroom (given she'd just tucked her tails under her legs to keep from wagging it and making a huge amount of noise). Though she did look away from Professor Darcy to watch Coralie as she answered his question, seeming to mull over this train of thought.

Get in trouble with it, hmm? She could think of a few more basic things she could do with it...

Onibi settled himself with watching watching Sin fool about the classroom, brow raised as the snap of her wrist revealed a coffin-shaped wardrobe behind heavy drapes. Running the pad of a finger down the shadow creature that'd taken up residency in his lantern, Onibi was left wondering exactly what kind of person this Professor Darcy must be to place a wardrobe inside a classroom. Certainly no one of any stature. His hope for a professor that wasn't as much a joke as the last (a unicorn for jacks sake!), along with his expectations were quickly dwindling.

Ignoring the growing chatter, Onibi leaned back, arms crossed. His other brow soon joined the first at his hairline as the stealth professor revealed himself. A vampire. Well, that was certainly a step up.

Lucien had only been slightly surprised to see their professor come out from the front of the room, from a chair this ghost hadn't even noticed was there. At least he hadn't been in the coffin right? That would have been so obvious for a vampire... a vampire. This was his first time seeing one, his eyes lingering on Professor Darcy for awhile, nearly forgetting just what he was looking at. It continued like that until the vampire spoke, promptly snapping Lucien back to the classroom. The spirit found his seat as the professor said, it was below his rump, even if his rump refused to sit on that horribly uncomfortable chair.

Lingering, Lucien's icy blue eyes circled around the classroom. He hadn't noticed how all the girls in the class were suddenly more behaved, or flush faced. As his eyes reached the far edge of the room he promptly took notice of a lantern and shortly after that the creature who accompanied it, reminding him of his own nostalgically. After briefly looking at his classmates, and the notable extra who had no desk to sit at, he casually held his paper out to the... cat, as he watched it linger near Tybalt. It was strange no? A cat lingering near a dog... His eyes gazed to Tybalt curiously. Hm, was all he directed at Tybalt.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2010 1:02 pm

Tybalt snorted as all the girls, or most anyways, immediately stopped to gawk at the teacher. All of them suddenly very obedient. It was kind of funny to see. Funny... But gross!

However, his attention was not on the teacher, but back on the cat. It was on the move again; stopping at each desk to collect the papers before it moved onto the next and eventually stopping at his.

".........."

Was that Jack damned feline lingering..? ...It was! He realized in horror; leaning as far back as his seat allowed him. At least, this time he gathered enough will power to keep himself from jumping back with a yell. Though he couldn't keep himself from baring his teeth and emitting a low growl. Kind of a funny sight, considering he was still vibrating out of fear of the golden eyed creature.

Thankfully, it didn't tarry long. More like a few seconds, before it finally returned to the front desk; depositing it's burden before it's master. Hopefully where it will stay! It was bad enough that he was stuck in class, but if he was going to be bothered by cats as well--he was going to go crazy!

Unlike many of the female students who seemd to be in a state of instant swoon over this attractive new teacher Chuppi was actually. . . . suspicious. He'd come out of no where and was talking to them liked he'd been there all along, something that set the chupacabra into a state of unease, and she reached for the Thermos that was at her side for a reassurance sip. One sip turned to several sips as she slowly made her way to a seat, though she took one near Tybalt (and still to the front of the room) to use as her desk. She certainly didn't remember where she'd been sitting in the first place, not that it mattered because someone was going to be odd-desk-out for a while with thirteen students and twelve seats. . . though if push came to shove Chuppi could easily be made to give up her seat. There wasn't much in her that demanded her to fight, after all.

" . . . . . "

Chuppi supposed she should have felt something like 'kinship' with this teacher because he was a vampire - and were Chupacabras not that as well? Vampires, from what she understood, drank the blood of humans. Chupacabras drank from goats (Chuppi wasn't so picky as to only want goats - anything animal was just fine for her). Both were bloodsuckers that depended on the warm red fluid for much of their energy and sustance, though the little monster assumed her teacher could survive much longer without it than she. Vampires could eat human food too, right? Or was that something she'd just made up in her mind?

Either way she shook her head and sipped from her Thermos again, hoping the teacher wouldn't notice her eating in class. Maybe if he did notice after all he'd give her a pass since it was blood and she'd possibly share it with him? Would that seem like she was trying to bribe the teacher? Chuppi didn't really want to be known as a teacher's pet monster either. . . but that was when she noticed the discomfort Tybalt was having with the cat. It moved before the Chupacabra had time to react and help shoo it away, she was going to shriek at it and drive it off, and the little monster turned her head and whispered to her companion.

"Estas bien, Tybalt? A ti no te gusta gatos?"

Of course he probably didn't understand Spanish. Well done!

She nearly tripped from jumping backwards so quickly. He wasn't there a moment ago! She always had superb eyesight! How.. what just happened? She was grateful that she didn't land flat on her a**.

She was disappointed to learn that he was undead. He lost a few cool points there. At least he wasn't one of those rotting, stinking zombies! At least the rumors were true. He was good looking, even for an undead. Any retort died on her lips and she found herself walking to the nearest empty seat. One thing was for certain. This guy had stealth down all right. Would he be able to teach them to do that? Imagine the prank possibilities if she could hide so quickly and readily.

She didn't even notice that she still kept Mimic hugged tightly to her chest. She was more shaken by the sudden appearance of the teacher than she dare admit to.

Professor Darcy's eyebrow stayed quirked as Morrigan stumbled back from his desk while keeping an eye on the rest of the class. This was bound to be an interesting mix of students, no doubt.

"That is," he said to Coralie once she'd finished speaking, "assuredly not the worst answer I've ever heard." He paused briefly, then resumed speaking. "Avoiding detection is one of the cornerstones of stealth, to be sure. Another is that there is always a place to take cover." He leaned forward to stare at the class somewhat intently.

"With that in mind, I'm sure each of you can think of at least three places on the way to this class that would make excellent hiding spots. Be prepared to share with the class." The professor's smile was not exactly reassuring, as it looked like something that belonged on a shark.

Three places on the way to class she could have hidden? It depended entirely on what she was hiding from, however, Shehk took a moment to ponder on this. Well, starting from....well, she'd start from the beginning of the day when she'd walked into the school as 'to this class' in her mind. How many rooms had she passed by? Quite a few.. there wasss.. the main office (NEVERRRRR AGAIN. NEVER

EVER. She'd cry.)

It was actually sort of strange, but suddenly Shehk really couldn't recall too much detail of the earlier events in the day. So she'd narrow down her thoughts to the rooms between her last class and this one. That was a good hall or two. If she avoided obvious places; Lockers, bathrooms, then where was there to hide at a moment's notice? Ventilation was out of her ability; too high and unless she was in canine form she wouldn't fit in there without getting stuck.

Being 'above' anybody in hiding was only for people who didn't have a pulse and could hold very still for long periods of time. She wasn't very good at that second one.

Thus...

Trash-bins, give or take how clean they were inside, were an option if one got a relatively EMPTY one and put the trash bag between themselves and anybody peeking in (then again, that would only be if someone wasn't LOOKING for you)...

and then there was..

well, if she was allowed to duck in on another class, she could use that, but people tended to react when one did that with some frowning and surprise to be had. So that wasn't quite an option either. Hnngh. Dammit, why was she suffering with this so much now?

Or... she could..
....
......

Hmmm. That was a possibility which Shehk seemed to content herself on, seeming to have suddenly been struck with a thought. There was always 'hide in plain sight'. The less suspicious she acted wherever she went, the less attention she would draw to herself. But inside the building in an empty hallway that wasn't really an option either, hmm.
..
....
Wait.

Was he going to actually want REAL ANSWERS with this? Ahh!

Three places? List only three? Chuppi could easily name ten of them and that was on this side of the school building alone. Get her outside? She could name dozens more, all because the chupacabra was used to hiding when the bullies (and most third years) decided it was time to play. Lately she hadn't been having much trouble now that the classes had started and everyone was busy trying to either graduate or just make it through the lessons. Chuppi wasn't complaining though since it let her walk to and from classes without too much problem. All she really had to worry about was getting lost or tripping or running into demons. Demons were never nice. Well, most of them anyway.

Chuppi was good at jumping which let her get to high places, an excellent spot to hide in when people were only looking on the ground. Her small size gave her area access that most were unable to even squeeze in, creating yet another good advantage. She wasn't very fast at running though on two legs and she was always carrying books or her Thermos with her, limiting how often she could drop to four limbs and get a good sprint in. Chuppi preferred her gallop jump anyway, which was a mixture of running and jumping all at once to get her from point A to point B.

Hopefully though the teacher wouldn't ask them to tell their hiding places. Sharing was not always good, because then it meant she had to look for another place to hide!

This was something Rain liked!

There were shadows in the corners of every ceiling and a lot of the corners. The school was relatively a dark place and she blended in well in the shadows.

She could easily hide on a wall or dangle on the ceiling and no one would notice. She was fairly quiet when she wanted to creep along unnoticed. There's also the lockers, closets, holes in the floors, behind the long drapes of the big windows in the hall. Surely there were even more hiding places! She couldn't wait for class to end so that she could look at the school from a whole new perspective. Perhaps she'd notice even more hiding spots!

She wasn't sure she wanted to share them though. Then everyone would know where she'd hide! Maybe she should just mention the lockers, closets and drapes and keep the ceilings and walls to herself. Would the teacher know she wasn't being entirely truthful? He seemed.. peculiar to say the least. At least he was undead. That was so refreshing to her. Heck, she nearly clapped when he admitted he was a vampire. Thank goodness she was in the back of the class.

Tybalt gave Chuppi a blank stare. He had no idea what she was saying. He only knew one language--and it wasn't Spanish. Though judging by the look on her face, she had picked up on his fear of cats. Well... Kind of hard not to after seeing him freak out the way he did. That really was a dead give away.

Ahhh wait what? What was this about hiding?

He was so absorbed in trying to decipher the Chupacabra's words, that he had almost missed what the teacher was saying. Something about places to hide on the way to class? Errr...

If he really thought about it, the black dog could think of several. But being as slow minded as he was in these particular situations, could only think of a few off of the top of his head. For example; phasing through into the lockers. Yes that was an excellent spot! Too many to check all of them as well. True, but... That only really helped his kind. It did nothing for the more 'solid' students. So what else was there? Oh oh! There was always just vanishing from sight and just hiding away in a corner or something--but then again... Not everyone had that same ability as him... Ugh...

This was actually tougher than he thought. Thinking of places to hide in something as limited as hallways. Or wait... Were they including other places like the outdoors? He wasn't sure, but he wasn't going to bother asking the teacher either. Well, at least he could think of one decent hiding spot and it was something any of them could do. Well okay, maybe not any of them. Someone like G for example wouldn't be able to. But if there was one place that all--or most of them could hide, it was to hide in a group of students. Seriously, what better place to hide a tree, other than a forest? Not that it always worked, sure. But sometimes people just didn't think about looking for something that was in plain view and staring you in the face.

Three places to hide? Mai wondered, her faintly glowing eyes watching the teacher as she thought the idea over. Well, in her case... everywhere was a potential place to hide. If she simply stopped actively trying to hold herself together, the ghost's form would fade out and become indistinct and partially transparent enough that most people didn't notice her if she was still. No outside assistance or hidey-places required.

There were some giveaways, of course. She wasn't *completely* invisible after all. If someone were paying attention, or actively searching for her, it's possible that they'd discover her if she were in the open. She was even more visible in low light, since her kind had a tendency to glow softly. Also, if an individual were to pass near enough to her while she was partially incorporeal, there was always that tangible chill and creepycrawly tingle that ran up your spine when encountering one of her kind. Most people were able to identify the unsettling sensation immediately. It wasn't all that difficult to move out of the way if you really didn't want someone running into you, but movement always made her more susceptible to detection.

Then there was her natural form. Mai was wisp. In fact, her human form was a complete fabrication. She loved maintaining this facade though, since it afforded her the assets she needed to lure in the warm-blooded for some 'snuggle time'. When she wasn't masquerading in this shape (which was most of the time), she was little more than small blue and white mass of ghost fire. She liked to take the shape of a small white cat while in her wisp-state, since cats were just about her favorite animal ever. As a cat, she could get into the tiniest of places, so she imagined that trying to hide while in that form would probably be pretty simple.

Her immediate answer seemed disappointingly easy, so she guessed she was probably being too simple. Mai waited to see if anyone had anything enlightening to reveal.

Hiding places, Sin had never really given them much thought, after all what did she have to hide for? Now that she was thinking about it however she was certain there were plenty of nooks and crannies one could turn into a suitable hiding place. The sky seemed to be the limit...literally if one had wings. The darkness was probably the best alliance one could have, unless you were luminous of course. She glanced at her shadow and thought of how fluidly some shadows moved. If one could control their shadows then hiding and misdirection would be a possibility. Corners, behind drapes, under beds, in closets, behind doors. A hundred different places to hide, but of course not all were equally good hiding spots...unless you were very talented.

The professor was obviously very talented, because he had hid in plain sight, which if you could manage it was probably the best hiding place of all. She eyed him again and had to keep from running her tongue over her lips. He's a vampire, she reminded herself, but she wasn't exactly the demon snob she pretended and she couldn't deny the professor was drop dead gorgeous. She pulled herself away from silly reveries and refocused, no doubt he would demand attention.

Hiding places? Valentino hated trying to find a hiding place. Being tall, unable to jump high, and wearing a white coat made him very conspicuous. Besides, he found that running very fast was far more beneficial. Angry mobs usually tended to dissipate after a mile or so. The first place he could think of hiding was behind the monster G, who could be bribed with fish. After the though crossed his mind however, he realized that it would be impossible to keep it up for too long.

The fist place Valentino thought of that he could hide on his way to class was the graveyard. There was always a casket or two he could snuggle up in. The next best place he could think of was the lockers, however he had no desire to be locked in one. Debating, he realized that one of the best places to hide was an abandoned room, one with multiple exits. There he could use his white coat as a red herring as escaped through the back.

Gigging to himself, Valentino wondered how much fun he could have if he doubled back and started stalking his pursuer... the best place to hide, was right behind your stalker.

Lucien hadn't ever really worried about being seen much in his life, but being at the academy and actually close to the land was something different. If he remembered to hide, he could probably find a decent spot but he was so easily distracted! He thought, tilting his weight to the right, and then to the left.

Thinking about spots on the way to class he had a little bit of a hard time thinking of places to hide since he was in another world of thought when he walked to class. Well! He could float up and hide on the ceiling. No one really tended to look up when they were looking for people! There was a ceiling, right? Lucien wasn't sure. He would be able to hide that way in many places, but what if they were looking specifically for him? What if that was the first place they looked! There must be other places out there he could hide. He thought hard.

There was the possibility of... no, that wasn't there was it?

How about... no... that wouldn't work.

How about between the... no.

Perhaps using someone bigger than you...

There were probably several things like lockers to hide behind, corners of walls...

Lucien really had wished he had paid a little more attention to his surroundings when he walked here but he just couldn't remember!

Lucien imagined if you were quiet enough you could successfully hide behind the creature seeking, almost as their shadow. When they would turn, you would turn, keeping out of their sight. Step for step for step.
