"Well that's good. I doubt we will see each other again after this. I plan to retire with Suzy and just live out the twilight of my life in a large mansion on the most backwater planet I can find. Being the kingpin of several mercenary and pirate organizations has proven to be an excellent way to bring the bread home."
They reached the end of the corridor and the last of the mausoleum collapsed behind them.
Romulus turned and surveyed the ruins. "Hrm. I probably should have picked a place with a stronger foundation."
Fay opened her eyes and blinked in a confused way.

Fay blinked again and rubbed her eyes. Romulus gently set her down on her feet.
"Yeah...yeah I can hear you, Winnie." she replied a little groggily.
Rom was silent.

In a strange and rare show of affection, Winnie embraced her longtime rival. "Are you alright?"
Hrothbert remained silent as well, regarding Romulus with a mixture of disdain, close scrutiny, and the gleam in a scholar's eye when he is faced with a problem to solve.

Fay accepted the hug and for a moment, her arms were wrapped around Winnie. Then Fay remembered her reputation. Fay reached up and pushed Winnie away. It should be noted that Fay "accidentally" fondled Winnie in the process.
"Get off me! I'm fine! The Great Betrayer has nothing on me!" and when Fay turned to face her uncle, Rom had simply faded away.

"You could have been killed, you silly little girl, a fact which is far more important than your accursed pride!" Winnie cried, stepping away and glaring daggers at Fay, ignoring the fact that her father had faded away as well.

"Hmmph. Being dead is a much more desirable fate than being left alive by an inferior opponent." Fay replied, crossing her arms. In the back of her head, Fay knew Rom could have easily destroyed her without even blinking. But she refused to admit it. Even to herself.
But then Fay realized something even more terrifying. What would Dad do when he noticed that none of the legionaries she brought with her came back?
