Cicely's posture relaxed slightly. She knew rage, and believed the male was truly angry about this. The terror and rage were still close to the surface though, along with another emotion that she just couldn't identify. She knew she didn't have time to just stand around and do introspection like a moron, but it was going to bug her until she could put a name to it.
Cicely looked at the male. Her posture hadn't changed, though the snarl had dropped away. "Maybe you're right," she said. She wasn't talking about the fire. "Maybe you are just a distraction. Me and Celia, we're two halves of one person. All we had was each other, and all we needed was each other." Cicely leveled her stormy eyes at the male. They weren't angry or aggressive. If anything they were filled with a deep pain. "I knew I shouldn't have let in an outsider."
With that she turned and fled. Her mind was filled with thoughts along the lines of what she had just said to the male. It was true, the twins had grown up knowing only each other. They rarely met other foxes, and the aggressive Cicely usually made them run off. But they had survived. From kits to adults, the twins had survived. They'd faced down a lot together, and always managed to pull through. Why should that change now? Why should she let some bat-winged unicorn fox save her? She could do it herself.
Ah. So that's what it was. What Cicely felt, that confusing emotion. Pride. The male had injured her pride.

Tsuna recognized the quick flash of emotion behind the vixens eyes and let out a rather derogatory curse not to be repeated to children. She of course just had to run off in the direction of the fire. Sure being a daeva he was well used to the smell of charcoal and ash in the air but now the fire seemed to be spreading widely. From the heat he was starting to feel it was definitely close and the vixen had run off on some foolish notion of pride. Luckily he could quickly catch up to her speed on land by flying in the air. The tree's where just close enough to help catch the other on fire but not to clumped he couldnt build up decent speed. "Stupid vixen, why is it that all females I just have to have an inkling to like have to be like my stupid older sister... shouldnt I be looking for females like my mom." he cussed under his breath and quickly descended into the air to go after the stupid prideful vixen. If she thought she could out run a phim/daeva combination she had another thing coming.

Cicely ran, her legs easing into a long stride and her breathing settling into a pattern. She had a good wind, though her specialty was agility. The red vixen was still too young to be good for long distance running.
She was trying to decide what to do next. She had not idea which way the fire was, but it didn't matter. Soon enough all she would have been able to smell was heat and smoke, and no matter where she ran there wouldn't be a stretch of mountain or plains that she could reach in time.
Her survival instincts told her to go back and accept the help to escape, but her pride wouldn't let her. So Cicely was going for plan two, water. The Davea had mentioned it earlier, about dumping her on a deserted island. For something so far away as to be that inconvient it would have to be far in the ocean. And she doubted the Daeva could carry a squirming, angry thing like her over a long stretch of forest and ocean.
There had to be an ocean somewhere, or at least a lake. Any body of water. She could hide in it until the flames passed over her. 'Celia always said I was too stubborn to die,' Cicely thought, a grim smile on her face.

Tsuna winced as another branch caught on fire. Finding a bright red vixen in the middle of a raging inferno should have been easy. He supposed she could have thought to make it for the ocean he had talked about, but that in its self was a disaster. The forest ended in a sheer drop off about 50 ft high into the ocean. There was no beach. Well he supposed he should start his search there. After all where he was searching wasnt helping in the least and the heat was getting nearly unbearable. Suddenly the wind shifted and he was able to pick out the vixen's scent. He frowned wondering how she had gotten so far away from him.

Cicely was sweating from the combined effect of the exercise and heat of the flames. She had found the ocean. The strong breeze that whipped the wind to life seemed to be originating from the vast body of water, carrying it's briney smell with it. She was stuck.
The trees came right up to the edge of the cliff, which was a straight drop the whole way down. Cicely doubted she'd survive it. Nothing by the edge of the cliff was on fire, since the wind blew it away, but the fire had grown strong and slowly inched it's way forward. Even if it never touched her the heat might still be enough to kill her.
Cicely was peering over the edge of the cliff now. Staying up here would be waiting for death. The only way was to try to reach the ocean. The rock face was not smooth, and her claws were sharp. She could probably clamber far enough down to a drop that wouldn't kill her. She wasn't sure how she'd make it back up though. Still, it was her only option.

"found you, you annoying prideful little vixen" Tsuna growled managing to finally catch up with her. he winced hiding the rather large wound to his wing. He had almost caught up with her earlier but a large flaming branch had struck his wing and caused him to have to burn it off him. It was no problem to his flying as long as he didnt look at the wound. With out waiting to see if she would object again he swiftly picked her up from the ground and tested flying with her a few nano seconds before diving off the cliff face. He was aiming for the thermal that was only a few inches away from the cliff face and then he would probably drop them on the island to wait until it was safe to come back to the forest.

Cicely made a rather undignified squawking noise. She'd been backwards, about to edge off the cliff when the Davea had appeared out of nowhere and grabbed her. Still backwards, mind you.
"What the hell," she yelled, turning her head to the side a bit so her voice wasn't completely lost in the wind. From her view she could see the flames rising. Soon the cliffs would be a baking zone, whether they caught on fire or not. She supposed she owed the male her life.
That only made her grumpier.

"Oh dont what the hell me" Tsuna growled. "You are the most stubborn prideful vixen I have ever met and that is saying some thing, like I am going to let you die when I have no idea what you have me feeling" Tsuna said glad he was speaking into the wind and Cecily only probably heard every other word. His wing suddenly buckled and he went into a bit of a roll but luckily managed to crash right into the thermal at the right time allowing him to go soaring into the sky. Getting to the island from here was going to be no problem.

Unfortunately for Tsuna, Cicely heard everything he said. Maybe had she been facing forward, with the wind in her face and roaring in her ears, it would have been a different story. Facing backwards though, the wind was pulling all his words to her and slapped only the back of her ears.
Cicely shook her head, growling a little. "I didn't need your help! I was doing fine on my own!" True enough in the case of the fire. She probably would have drowned in the ocean though. Not that she would ever admit it.

Tsuna rolled his eyes not that she could see it "Oh yes and climbing down a sheer cliff wall was your idea of under control. I would hate to see how not in control looked like" he stated. "geez do you have to be soo heavy? a deer probably weighs less than you do" he griped. In all actuality if he had been fine she probably would have been rather easy to carry.

Cicely snorted. She had seen the injured wing when she looked back towards Tsuna's front. "Not my fault you went and got your wing injured, silly unicorn." She had the feeling the injury was partly her fault. She wasn't sure she liked that stirring of guilt.

"well if you weren't some pretty princess with pride issues I could have just carried us out to safe land but no I had to go through the burning forest to go find you." Tsuna groaned. "and will you stop calling me a unicorn. Geez I hope you never meet my sister. I should have been a phim. Actually I should have been full daeva and left you to burn" he muttered. They finally came to the island and he lightly let her drop about two feet on the ground before crash landing himself.

Cicely shook her ahead, then wiggled her body to dislodge as much of the sand as she could. "And you say I have issues. I'm perfectly at peace with my own species at least."
Relenting, she walked over and nosed the downed Daeva. "Thanks, I guess. Need help standing?"

"Hmph if you ever wake up some day and become a daeva dont go off and mate with a phim. The children get tons of issues." Tsuna stated shaking his head and looking up at the sky. Maybe thats why his father had always said not to go around phims. He knew even since they where little his children where all going to grow up to be phims. "no, its fine."

Cicely chuckled. "If I wake up to find I've become a Daeva, I'll laugh. Laugh and laugh and laugh. I might even be able to stop laughing before someone conks me over the head in an act of kindness because they believe I've gone mad."
Cicely's body still gave the occasional convulsion at the thought. It was just her turning into a Daeva that would be funny. There was another reason, and it threatened to bring her to the edge of the hilarity she had just hinted about.
