Natural selection at its finest, Pitre mused. The others were stronger, swifter, and would survive longer in the wild. For the Beldum who had been too caught up in the moment to realize when to escape and for its comrade who been unable to shake off the effects of the Sleep Powder quickly enough, it was only proper that they be forcibly stolen from their tribe. The words were uttered mainly for Pitre's own benefit, but it would do no harm if it gave heart to Nero as well.

Nero merely stared at his friend with an unblinking eye. Maybe it was true that their brethren had gotten away for the better. A natural selection of sorts. He hovered slightly lower, circling Logan and analyzing him. He drifted back to Pitre. Maybe being captured by this kid wasn't all that bad.

Logan smirked at Nero as he floated about him. "I think Nero likes what he sees." Slip of tongue, "I mean, I think he accepts me as his trainer." He ruffled his hair with his free hand and returned Nero's pokeball to his side. Another great addition to the team. He hoped.

Pitre processed Nero's words thoughtfully, turning its crimson gaze on its own human. She was a fair bit smaller than the other man, smaller even than the average female specimen as it appeared against the species as a whole. Pitre scrutinized the girl fiercely, even as Nero concluded his evaluation.

Aila, of course, heard little more than "beldum bel" and could only raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Hard to say how Pitre feels," she concluded with a brief shrug. "I suppose it will get used to things, though. It has little other choice."

Logan smirked. Assertive... I like that. His gaze fixed on the girl for a moment, before looking over Pitre, then Nero. The hovering pokemon had drawn closer to Armon to identify his new teammate.

A crimson eye scanned the flying type carefully. He muttered. His dismissed the pokemon completely and returned to Pitre.

Armon gave a shocked flutter, raising his wings in a show of anger. He dismissed the new pokemon as well, deciding it was more useful to preen himself.

"They already look like a handful." Logan chuckled, eyeing the pokemon cautiously.

Aila returned the scrutinizing gaze unwaveringly, turning her attention back to Pitre when contact was broken. The Beldum was occupied with Fleur now, though it seemed the Venusaur had been content to watch the two steel types' banter as a non-participant. She shrank back slightly under the unblinking, single-eyed glare but held her ground nonetheless. She had forced the thing's allies to retreat moments earlier; what had she to fear?

Pitre pushed just a little closer, red eye narrowing as it rifled through various vocabulary in search of a phrase to properly embody its feelings. is this thing?> It was large and fleshy, like an animal yet with characteristics of a plant. Pitre had never seen a Venusaur. Perhaps the reason the Beldum swarm had failed to assimilate the creature was because they were unfamiliar with its species. Or perhaps Pitre was the only one of the bunch who was so uninformed.

Nero joined his associate, his unblinking crimson eye scanning the pokemon as well. He was sure what to make of it. It was like a mobile garden... That attacked... That walking plant was the reason for his capture. His new partner hadn't done much to help.

Logan smirked at the girl's bold nature. "So do you live around here?" Small conversation was best to get to know someone, "And what's up with this ghost town?" That did strike him as odd. He gazed around, back toward the town where people were scarce.

Pitre circled around and glared at the Venusaur as the two attempted to analyze the creature. Brow furrowed, she gave a little "saur, saur" and a flick of her vines to try and shoo them away.

"No," Aila replied with a brief shake of her head, "I live further to the south, in Jinko City. This is, however, where I acquired my Misdreavus not too long ago, and I visit from time to time for her benefit." Well, that was the reason she had come to Ambergris for today, at any rate. On Cal's suggestion that the two go places and see thing together as a means of strengthening their bond, she felt she would return to the gloomy city and see how the ghost responded. Her cause had been derailed, however, when the Misdreavus darted off into the town and left Aila on her own.

"I'm not certain exactly what's happened here. Rumors abound, but it does not seem as though anyone has pinpointed the exact cause as of yet. All I know is that it declined suddenly and swiftly." The 'bad neighbors' theory seemed to be most popular, but the little Rocket decided to leave that part out.

Nero floated out of reach of the walking plant's vines and returned to his trainer's side. His crimson eye glistened in the sunlight, still analyzing the Venusaur.

"Jinko City?" Logan thought for a moment, "Nice place. I guess you get your calm atmosphere from the plains around there." Aside from the storms, the plains were a nice place to relax. And the Great Library wasn't so bad either. Logan had extended his planned 3 day stay to 10 just to get more acquainted to with the books. He wished to stay longer, but running low on food and money was cause enough for him to move on. Besides, he was looking for his friend.

Logan patted Nero, getting a deadly crimson glare back, "Would you like to go and explore the town with me? There might me some neat things we can discover." He motioned for Armon to join him, the bird pokemon looked him and Nero over before fluttering to them.

"Venaaahh..." Fleur's earnest plea to be left alone was ignored by her new teammate, and she moved towards her human, hoping the girl would reprimand the Beldum or act as a living shield or something.

"What is it?" Aila muttered, noticing the tension between the two. She frowned and raised a pokeball in each hand, calling back their occupants, and returned her attention to Logan. "I'll go," she volunteered at mention of entering Ambergris. "I should find my Misdreavus." In honesty she was worried that the ghost would cause an unnecessary ruckus if she noticed a stranger entering the city. She wasn't the best fighter, and Aila felt it would behoove her to avoid conflict.

Logan recalled his pokemon as well, joining the girl and looked at the town. He was rearing to go; ready to explore and help this little miss find her lost pokemon. It was so cute, as if she was a little girl who needed a strong hero. In his mind, he was that guy.

He took in a deep breath and sighed, content for the moment. "Well then, what are we waiting for?" He seemed a bit too eager to help her find the ghost.

Aila raised a dubious eyebrow at the man. What was he so excited about? "Let's proceed," she murmured, starting forward into Ambergris's quiet streets. "Revenant!" she cupped her hands at the sides of her mouth to increase the volume of her voice. "It's time to go back!"

A dark form flitted in the city's shadows. Someone wasn't ready to go back yet.

Logan put his hands in his pockets as the girl yelled for her pokemon. He would join in, but her really didn't see a point. There weren't any people on the street he could ask about there whereabouts of her missing ghost friend. He kept his eyes peeled for any signs of life. People or pokemon.

"Where do you suppose your, Revenant was? Where do you suppose the little ghost would go?" There seemed to be plenty of places for the little one to hide.

"I cannot say for certain," she replied as she lowered her hands. "When I first encountered her here, she concealed herself in shadow." There was an awful lot of shadow, though, considering the sheer number of buildings and alleyways, it would be impossible to search every single dark spot.

A little dark-haired girl and some stranger wandering through Ambergris. It was a scene that struck Revenant as incredibly familiar, and she delighted at the opportunity to have fun once more. She sneaked around to a place behind the two, watching them carefully for a chance to act.

"Hm..." Logan check his surroundings. There where too many dark places and shadows that her pokemon could hide in. To top it off, there were no people around that they could ask. "Maybe we should go to the place were you caught her?" As the two walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being followed, but he ignored that feeling to help his new friend. He carefully scanned the places around them with no sign of the ghost.

"Perhaps." She started in that direction, albeit slowly. Aila also had the feeling that they were being pursued, and she was fairly certain she knew who the culprit was.

Revenant masked her visibility, though the daytime sun betrayed the faint outline of her shadow on the ground. She advanced quietly and found a place just behind Logan's shoulder, blowing a small puff of air onto his neck.
