The office. That had been the only thing Jae could recall at the moment as she fully came to her senses. Where was she and how did she get here were two big questions she had swimming around in that fuzzy mind of hers. She had to tell the Hokage about Ayaki's death. It was important, or so she believed it was. The scent of antiseptics and the busy hands that probed her, eliciting a few grunts from her when probed in uncomfortable ways, Jae figured she was at the hospital. Sitting on the edge of the bed they had steered her to, Jae didn't so much as flinch as they lifted her shirt up to uncover the dark bruises that spread out from her back, ribs and stomach. Her attending physician scolded her for waiting so long to get tended to. The nurse lightly brushed her fingers against her rib cadge, that overly familiar chakra engulfing her hand as she began to diagnose her. A series of questions were pelted at her then, not from the nurse but from someone standing on the side lines across the room. Jae's hard gaze flitted over to the owner of said voice, Jae displeased with being brought here even though she had been strongly opposed to it. At first, she simply stared at him, over the shoulder of those who were working on her, already they had given her a numbing shot. "Haku...the guy from the office..." Her tone was clipped as she said this, putting two and two together. She must have blanked out. Her stubborn nature had kept her standing even though her body couldn't cope with it. "I fell. Off a very, very, very, tall tree." Jae responded, flinching when the nurse started pressing her hand up against her rib cage on either side. "Sir. You need to leave now. We need to undress her now." The nurse said, looking over her shoulder to speak to Haku. Jae didn't care if he stood there or not, she still felt too emotionally numb to care about something as trivial as that.

Someone ushered Haku out of the room, an old nurse walking in as he was forced to exit. "Well if it isn't the little princess. Did you finally break your ribs now Jae?" The older nurses harsh voice was amplified as the door shut on Haku and enclosed the nurse in the room with the medical nin already helping her to pull her shirt off. The older lady handed over Jae's past papers and reason for admittance. "Five broken ribs, one bruised lunge, slight internal bleeding and a fractured ulna. Just what in the world were you up to?" The nurse said once the healing procedure had been administered. The medical nin that had worked on her gave her one last looking over before pulling the blankets over her. "Same old. Training." Jae answered, the process of breathing felt a lot less painful now. The nurse shook her head, writing down the excuse on the paper work and turning to leave. She opened the door and leered at Haku for one moment, not at all pleased. "Go easy on the training sessions." She grumbled, walking past him without even waiting to hear his retort. "Old hag..."Jae muttered, looking at the open door.

His own careless look countered the evil look she had given him. Atleast what he thought to be an evil look. The commotion in the room was enough to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Especially someone who was far from liking to be the center of attention. Not like anyone had ever given him the satisfaction. His eyes lit up as he held in a laugh when the woman gave him an explanation. Several things were wrong about that. One being no one in Konoha would allow themselves to fall out of a tree and not brace themselves for the impact to come. Second, even if she did hit the ground, the likeliness of her only hitting her abdomen was near impossible. No. Haku didn't fall for the crap he was being told. Before he could question the answer he was given, the Gennin was forced out of the room by an elderly lady. Her strength being remarkable for her age.

As the moments passed, he found himself more and more worried about what had happened to this woman. Maybe she had been training. But who was so reckless that they would allow themselves to harm a sparring partner. Nothing was right about this situation. Nothing at all. As the time continued to fly, the gaze of the Taijutsu Specialist scanned over the lobby. Only seconds later was this pass time interupted by the same nurse who had pushed him out of the room the first time. Haku attempted to speak up about her training comment but he was far too late. She disappeared out of his view within seconds and he found himself in the room, yet again. His deep blue eyes glared at the Kunoichi. "Fell out of a really high tree? I love your sense of humor." The words trailed off as the Shinobi attempted to small talk his way out of an odd situation. "Now please tell me how this happened. You were in a bad shape and I figured I would be yelled at for bringing you here. Regardless, how did this happen? Who did this to you? If it's any of my business." No matter the response, the boy wouldn't take 'no' for an answer and would get his information before the end of the day.

Jae watched as Haku entered the room, her face blank for the first couple of seconds before she rolled her eyes at his demands. He sure is a pushy one... Using whatever strength she had left and banking off of the numbing agent that was given to her, Jae sat up, propped up against her pillows. "Like you said. 'If'. Which it is most certainly not." Jae remarked, cutting him short. This was not his problem and it was not his business to know what was going on. Ayaki's face popped into her mind, Jae freezing for a moment. She felt queasy again. Had all of that really happened? Had the girl, her friend, really died. Died trying to stop Shigeru and herself from making fatal mistakes. Jae felt colder than she ever had at the thought of it all. It was surreal and still felt like some nightmare. "Look. Thanks for bringing me here. I am not as ungrateful a person as to not give out thanks when it's due but it really is none of your business when, where and how I acquire my injuries." She said, trying to be a little less curt and a little more grateful. She could have passed out before the Hokage again. Wouldn't that have been a sight to behold.

Haku's arms extended, as if he were saying 'I'm sorry. Don't kill me.' "I understand. But can I atleast stay here? I'm not really in the mood for training and my body couldn't handle it, anyway." His body fell back into a chair and his eyes once again found themselves scanning the room for anything. Due to his small size, to anyone who didn't know he was fourteen it would appear as if he was barely a teenager. Let alone his age. "Well, since I have no right to know what happened to you and I don't really have anything else to talk to you about, can I atleast know your name? It's kinda hard to think of you as 'pink - haired girl' inside of my head." A light chuckle escaped the Gennin's parted lips as his eyes changed to a curious look. He was partially interested in this woman but more interested in what had happened to her. But she clearly wasn't going to tell him. Like he had said, it was none of his business. But it didn't stop his mind from drifting off into thought.

Jae just listened to his chatter, the words messing together and making no sense at one fraction of his small form of conversation. Closing her eyes and letting her upper body sink into the pillows that held her propped up, Jae resigned herself to simply listen. His personality was a complete contrast to hers, his laughter was something Jae didn't think she could wholeheartedly conjure up ever again. He was more alive by simply talking and sitting there than she felt at the moment. It hurt to breath, it hurt to sit there and go on like nothing had happened. She didn't deserve to be alive. There was no meaning for her to be laying here while Ayaki turned into a rotting corpse. "It's Jae..." She muttered, turning on her side and facing away from him, her back to him. Curling into herself, despite the obvious pain it was going to cause her once the pain medication worse off, Jae felt resigned to simply stare at a spot on the wall. She felt numb and shattered, as if nothing she could do would ever pull her out of this lifeless person she was becoming. She couldn't even cry, the emotion lost to her along with the others. Her senses were shot as well, Haku's presence barely registered in her mind at all. "You really should just leave." Jae said, still looking away from him. There was nothing she could say to him, nothing she wanted to say to him. All she wanted to do was just sleep and pray she wouldn't wake up again and by some miraculous feat Ayaki did. It was her own personal pity party and she didn't want to drag an outsider into it.

"Cool... I think. One letter less than mine." What was that? Who says something like that? It made no sense. He was quite detached. No matter how much he tried to make small talk there was nothinig he could do. What had happened? Why was she so shattered? Then it struck the young teenager. Someone had died, apparently. That was the only thing that could shake the mind of a Shinobi or a Kunoichi. But who was it? He hadn't heard of any deaths. Then again, no Gennin were told about anything. "I-..." Haku's brain then suddenly collapsed. Not in a physical way. More like a mental thing. Nothing was right. He normally had something to say about everything. Whether it was a witty comeback or if it was an intelligent guess. Haku always had something to say. "I'm so sorry... I don't know what to do." Rai clutched his forehead. Clueless. That was the only word to describe what was happening in his mind. Everything was scattered. Nothing fit right. The Shinobi wasn't trying to make this "Jae" feel bad about anything. He was attempting to make her feel better. But there was nothing he could do, in his eyes, atleast. "For once I have no idea what to say. This whole thing has nothing to do with me, and yet I'm attempting to make someone happy. Someone that I just met today. I guess I'll go train." Haku was baffled. A mindless look appeared on his face as he stumbled towards the door of the hospital room.

Today begins the start...

The sound of fast scurrying feet echoed around the desolate hospital walls. The closer Rai moved towards the door, the louder the sound got. Soon, even a slight panting could be heard. One moment it fell deathly silent, the next, a loud crash and the door he was near burst open. most likely knocking the kid right over.
"Pretty laaady!!!!~" A sharp wail flew like daggers around the room. The figure who came crashing in shifted slowly closer to the hospital bed. From under her hood, her eyes glimmered in a response to the negative energy that drifted around Jae.
"Dont die~nyah," Shade whimpered and slowly started to mount the hospital bed, unaware that when someone got injured, it hurt them when they were touched. She always was an ignorant child. The cat ears on top of her hood flattened back and the long tail protruding from her tan coat swayed slowly; almost in a melancholy way.

Extending his hand to yank open the door, the sounds that were making their way down the hallway were easily ignored by the teenager. The scowl still fresh on his face. Before he could escape the death - like aura fogging up the room, the door slammed open. At first, shock was the only thing that found its way into his head. But before he could cancel out this shock, Haku was steamrolled by an unknown girl in a hood. His eyes opened completely, something he was far from used to, and his legs flew from underneath his body. It appeared as if the entire world had switched to slow motion. His head was the first to fall backwards. Followed by his abdoment, thighs and, not long after, his feet. "Gah!" The Gennin let out a yelp as his head slammed into the ground, immediately giving him a headache. Rolling over, Rai clutched his forehead. "Can you atleast tell someone when you're about to ram into the door they're behind?" The Shinobi stood up, only to find that he was being ignored by this girl who had ran him over, but she looked no bigger than him. "Ow! My head!"

Today begins the start...

Turning her head, Shade locked eyes with the fallen male. Her ears perked up and she withdrew her pawed sleeves up to her chest.
"Ohooh, Sorry~nyah! I got excited!" she chirped and the brunette tail behind her lifted and curled in an apathetic way. It was hard to tell what she was really feeling since her face was always hidden in the shadow of her hood- except for her emerald eyes and mouth; which was curled in a Cheshire grin. The long tan coat she wore covered everything but her legs, which were attempting to now mount the laying Jae.
"Pretty Lady needs love neow! so i tracked her down by her yummy scent~nyah! and then... then i got excited!" Shade spoke quickly and seemed to trip over her words like her tongue had a life of its own.

"Cool... I think. One letter less than mine." His attempt at small talk was wasted at this point. Patiently, Jae waited for him to take the hint and just leave. She had already thanked him, given him her name and been more than cordial about everything thus far. There was nothing else to say. "I-..." He said, followed by another long pause on his behalf. She listened, the only thing she could do at the moment."I'm so sorry... I don't know what to do." An apology. This stirred her up slightly. Why was someone apologizing to her? There was no reason for him to apologize to her. Still. She remained silent. "For once I have no idea what to say. This whole thing has nothing to do with me, and yet I'm attempting to make someone happy. Someone that I just met today. I guess I'll go train." Finally. He took the hint. Jae wanted to be alone and now she was going to get just that....well, at least she thought so.

Upon finally feeling that relief that she would be given a moment of respite she heard the door bang open and a familiar voice accompany it. Jae's eyes widened and she turned, quickly, sitting up somewhat. Shade wasted no time in joining her where she was laying, the hybrid girl straddling her. The pain of her sudden movement, Shade's presence where she was laying and her added surprise was enough to cause her to wince but she was glad the girl was here. Despite the fact that Haku had almost received a concussion from Shade's sudden entrance and was clearly still present in the room Jae moved, practically flinging herself into the other girls body. Jae clinged onto Shade, burying her face in the girls chest. Shade was the only other person in the field that had bore witness to what had happened. She was the only person on the entire planet who Jae could breakdown in front of. Shade was the only other person who knew of Ayaki's death. "I couldn't tell him! I couldn't do it Shade! " Jae broke down then, her sobs muffled against the girls body. Since coming here this was the third time in Jae's entire existence that she was reduced to tears. Third time was a charm, as the saying goes. Shade's warmth was all Jae had to hang onto for the moment and she hung on for dear life.

Nothing but bad luck seemed to follow Jae. First losing her home in Yuki. Then losing the trust she had in her friendship. Then losing a friend altogether. Things just continued to go from bad to worse. There was no telling what would happen next and sadly she found herself inclined to pick up and leave this village as well.

Saku moved into the hospital as he looked around and checked up with the medical ninja on duty. He shrugged as the medical ninja said that no new ninja have needed medical help yet. Nodding Saku then moved out and continued on checking the area.

The Gennin released his grasp on his head and stood back up. "It's fine... Probably just a minor headache. I'll be going now, I guess." As he prepared to leave, his eye took one last glance at the pair. Before his final step was out the door, a loud cry could be heard. Within moments his curiosity had gotten the best of him. His head poked back into the hospital room. Could he have been that 'he' she spoke of? Haku hoped she was crying for a different reason than that. Then it would be related to him, meaning he had caused some of her pain. It was quite upsetting, but -- due to the fact that he had faced no real problems in his own life -- he had no idea what this gi-... Jae, could be feeling. Regardless of who it was, however, the pain of others gave Rai a bad feeling. For some reason, he wanted to get back at whoever had done this. But he knew he couldn't. Atleast not yet. He wasn't nearly as strong as he needed to be, for one. But maybe he could get answers from this 'Shade'. "Uh... Shade? Can you tell me what happened? I mean, I hope Jae would find it okay but... I'd atleast like to know."

Jae was crying but she wasn't deaf to the world. She heard his inquiries, the very same questions he had been asking her he was not asking Shade. Tightening her grip on her friends clothes, Jae glared past Shade's body to stare at Haku through teary and blurry vision. "Why can't you just drop it! It's none of your business. I'll kill you myself if you press this any further." She was practically growling at Haku then, angrier than ever. Jae had never paused to think that Shade would disclose what had happened in the fields to anyone else and had hoped that Shade would not spill this to anyone else. Jae would take the blame if it came back to bite them in the asses later on but she couldn't tell the Hokage just yet. She was afraid of what would happen to Shade afterward. If Jae got punished for what happened that was fine but if anyone tried to punish Shade for doing nothing but being a witness, she would never forgive herself. "Get out! Leave now!"She yelled, her voice braking in some parts.

For a moment, the teen could barely handle being yelled at that way. It had never happened to him before and it was quite surprising. But, within moments, a second personality kicked in. He had never been angry before, however, this personality seemed to make this emotion ever so known. "Listen, girl! Life as a Shinobi or Kunoichi sucks, but you have to learn to deal with it. I may not be a master at peoples' emotions, nor am I a master at how to act in the case of someone's death, but I do know you don't mope around about it for the rest of your life and speak mean towards people who try to help you. No matter what. If you act like that everytime something bad happens to you, you won't end up being a good Shinobi, will you? Regardless of what me, you or others have done, you can't go around acting like that towards people. It may be human nature but that doesn't make it right. I don't care if you're in the hospital, you need to hear this. I'm going to leave but remember: what you say affects others and how they feel about things. Words can actually hurt people, whatever the situation. I don't like being snapped at, and neither does anyone else! So do it again and I swear you'll end up in the hospital a lot more than you planned on!" With a deep sigh and a return to his personality, the boy exited, slamming the door that had remained open.
