"He's a beautiful monster"

His eyes darted off to the side at the quiet comment, his blush increasing slightly before he took a breath to try and calm it, not wanting to draw even more attention to himself, which he felt like he was doing a lot of in his new top. Instead, he returned his focus to Dendera, only giving a brief and short nod at his words, following after him silently on their way to wherever the man intended to have them stay.

He kept his words and thoughts to himself once more as they walked, his eyes darting around, alert as ever in his new surroundings. Silas stayed near Dendera, close enough that one could tell they were walking together, but far enough to give the man at least some space that he could call his own. He looked at everyone else with a suspicious and wary gaze, the people they passed on the sidewalk, crossing the streets, inside shops, entering and exiting stores, even people on the other side of the street and in their cars. He left no one but the Umbreon free of his sight, listening in as much as possible to anything that my cause him alarm. His new state of dress put him on edge, more so than usual, and he found it impossible to even think about trying to relax. The slight change in amount of skin he was showing increased his paranoia, some of it undoubtedly holding traces of fear because he was in a new and unknown place. He was in a place where he knew nothing of the streets, nothing of the buildings, had no contacts but his one companion. If he were to separate from the man at any time, he would be on his own. Not that Silas wasn't used to being on his own, at least before. He'd grown used to being around the man so frequently, increasingly so since they'd met.

When the two did finally reach a hotel, Silas wasn't quite as alert as he had been outside, but still kept his guard up. He waited, silently still, as the man checked them into their room, eyes following passing strangers as their eyes did the same, his breath a light pant from the walk in the heat. He hadn't actually stopped to really pay attention to the hotel itself until they were alone in the elevator, the earth tones and gold a calming color choice, yet still held that almost stiff hotel feel that all hotels seemed to have. Soon the doors to the elevator slid open, and both stepped out.

They walked down the long hall, sliding the key card in the door lock of their chosen room before stepping inside. It was only once they were within the seclusion of the room and when the door was shut did Silas finally take a free breath, letting his guard drop to its more 'normal' level before throwing his bag down in front of one of the beds. The Vaporeon arched his back a bit as he stretched out, raising his arms above his head briefly while his body quickly readjusted to the cooler, air conditioned temperature of the room. He moved over and sat down on the edge of the bed with his bag in front of it, wasting no time in sliding his boots off.

Dendera spent the remaining time of their walk silently taking in the changes that had happened in the city, and really it wasn't that many changes. He still saw many shops from his memories, and normally seeing it all would have made him happy. Nostalgia generally had a good effect on the Egyptian but right now it just made him want the foreign hotel room even more, wanting to sink into one thing that didn't come out of his past. He had a few phone calls to make, he didn't really want to deal with the funeral, didn't really want to see Amasis put to rest, but he knew that it was something that he couldn't avoid dealing with.

When they reached the Cairo Semiramis it didn't take very long to get checked in, especially since you could reserve a room at this hotel while getting your airline ticket. It was also a good thing that they had a car rental desk, it was something that the umbreon hadn't dealt with earlier and they would likely need one to get around. The building of the hotel was big and invasive in appearance from the outside, like all hotels it was this big hulking thing that tried to look welcoming but never did look as much like a home as just a simple house did. But it was nice. Once they reached the inside there were black desks, lobby room furniture and walls being a safe mix of earthen tones and many details in golden shades. It was nice.

It was not only a very nice hotel, but it was also a lot cheaper than the ones you would find in America (and every suite boasted a view of the Nile River from your balcony, something that in Dendera's opinion, none of the American hotels had anything to match). In fact, he had spent more than he had to on the room just because of how cheap it really was, so he had put them in one of the 'deluxe Nile' rooms. Up the elevator they went and upon entering the room they were welcomed by two queen sized beds, a white blanket with a bed skirt of different shades of blue, a small cover over the white blanket that had white and pale blue designs, and pillows to match the small cover. On the head boards there were even tiny golden pharaoh heads. And before reaching the balcony would be a set up of a small blue love seat and two matching chairs all facing towards where a large flat screen television was. There was a couple of doors in the room which Dendera knew to lead to the small kitchenette and the bathroom.

But really what the Egyptians eyes were on was the balcony, hidden behind a large window like door, and just past it lay the Nile River and across more of the city scape of Cairo. He stared at it for a long few moments while Silas made himself at home in the room (as at home as Silas gets). It was far more breathtaking when you didn't see it every single day. After he caught himself staring though, he pulled himself out of it and walked over to the stand the television was on. On the stand next to the television was a small pamphlet with a list of 'luxuries' that the hotel offered to those staying in one of their deluxe suites. As he stared down the long list every item just seemed to remind him of the reason that people usually would stay in these rooms, for a nice enjoyable vacation in a historical city that some people only ever got to see once in their lives.

This brought his attention back to the 'guest' that he had brought with him. He looked to him now to see that Silas was just sitting on the edge of what would be his bed for the time that they were here. He approached him, sitting down beside him, disregarding the personal space issues that the vaporeon had, "I'm sorry," he said softly. It was an apology for the way that he had been carrying himself which he could only imagine to be ruining whatever enjoyment Silas could possibly get out of this trip, "I hope you enjoy it..It's a beautiful city." he was speaking softly still, but trying to make it look more like a vacation and less like a trip that he had to take. "If you want anything you can just ask you know?" he leaned forward now, just enough to look at his friend's face, wearing a small smile for him.

After taking his boots off, he took a moment to get a better look at the room, practically ignoring the details again when he'd first walked in, and taking note of his companion's staring briefly. It was large, and luxurious, far more so than any room he'd ever been in before. He almost got up off the bed because he felt like he was ruining it somehow, but restrained himself and rationalized that this was the room they'd be staying in, and that he usually treated most buildings or houses like they were just that, buildings, rooms, not something to be treated sacred. His time with the Umbreon had changed how he felt about such things though, at least Dendera's house. It held some meaning for him, enough for him to treat it both with more respect and more like his own than any other place, almost more than his own house, which he never really felt like it was his, at least everywhere but the rooms he regularly used.

Silas almost jumped when the man sat down next to him, leaning away a little from the sudden proximity, still not really accustomed to it. But, he listened, regardless, still unsure of how to handle his companion or what to even say, really.
'How am I supposed to deal with him like this? He's so..unusually..mellow and..down? And apologizing,' he thought to himself, his brow drawing together, expression turning a little confused. "I don't need much," he started, glancing to the side uncertainly, "just.." he got up after a moment, grabbing Dendera by the wrist, as the man usually did to him, and pulling him through the room to the glass door, pausing and letting go to open it before walking around and raising his hands, pushing the man out onto the balcony. "If you're going to look at it look at it," he said a little quietly, glancing to the side awkwardly, "just stop being so..not you." He paused again to look at the river for himself, speaking a little quieter, still awkward. "It..it's pretty," he mumbled, turning after a moment and going back into the room.

The Vaporeon raised a hand to his face, rubbing it once before letting out a quiet sigh, scrunching his face a little briefly at his own words and actions.
'What the hell am I doing? I don't care if he's depressed. I don't,' he thought to himself, taking a seat back on the edge of his temporary bed, letting out another quiet sigh, '..who am I kidding.' He glanced over at the man briefly before darting his eyes away, blushing faintly. '..great, now we're both idiots,' he thought again, flopping backwards onto the now less neatly made bed, staring up at the ceiling and trying to let his mind wander elsewhere.

'Why did I come along again anyway? 'To make sure he doesn't do anything stupid'? He can do what he wants,' he thought to himself, glaring a little at the ceiling for a moment before closing his eyes, '..but I won't tolerate him doing something stupid. He promised. ..What do I care-?!' He rolled onto his side after a moment, opening his eyes again and glaring at the mound of pillows before his eyes softened a little, his hair covering some of his face, '..But I do? Damn it. Idiot,' he finished, closing his eyes again.

Dendera found the beds to be as comfortable as they looked, sitting beside Silas, but his mind wasn't on the comfort or the luxuries of the hotel. He didn't really know how to treat this trip, he knew that there was no way that he could expect the vaporeon to understand why he had to be here and what the man had meant to Dendera. It was hard for the umbreon to treat it like the vacation that it must have looked like though.

When he was dragged over to the balcony he didn't make any protest and didn't try to pull his wrist away, just letting Silas drag him as he often did to the other. Though, he didn't really understand why he was being led to the balcony, until he heard the vaporeon speak. He didn't know what to say and now his eyes just stayed on the steadily flowing river that was easily seen from where he stood, the water looked clean and almost clear and brought back memories of the hot summers of his childhood when he would spend the evening in the water. He pulled his arms up around himself, just holding his hands over his own arms. He felt like he would cry, but he really didn't want to and he was just trying his hardest to keep his emotions in check.

Then he heard Silas's voice bringing him back down again, "Not me?" he asked quietly, but he didn't need the answer. He was acting so differently, doing things he normally wouldn't do - one of which being actually considering the President's request. That was probably why the vaporeon had come along. Dendera knew that even though Silas tried to deny it to himself, he really cared about the umbreon and it had been foolish for the umbreon to not realize that it probably hurt Silas to see the request and realize that Dendera was actually considering it. "Sorry.." he apologized again, still standing on the balcony, facing towards the water, but speaking loud enough to be heard despite the bit of distance between them.

When he thought about it, if this had been just a trip home he would have been excited to show Silas the city, all the sights of Cairo, and just to generally spoil him. But instead he'd been treating it all like he'd been sentenced to the worst thing ever, trudging along and barely speaking to the vaporeon who usually held his attention over anything else around him. He was acting very different, lost in his own thoughts and memories instead of sharing what could have been a nice trip with his companion.

After bidding the view of the river farewell, he entered the room again, sliding the glass door behind him closed. Upon re-entering the room he found Silas to be laying on his side in the bed that he'd chosen, it put a small smile on his face, just to realize how much the vaporeon was willing to do for him - the least that he could do in return was act like himself. With a small laugh he thought to himself, 'I'm sure he'll regret that request..or at least act like it'. The darker male approached the bed now, sitting down on it lightly before leaning down to steal up one of the vaporeon's wrists. He tugged it towards him, forcing Silas to turn back over onto his back. "Thank you for coming with me." he said softly, red eyes staring down at the pale boy before Dendera took the liberty of laying over Silas's abdomen, light enough that it would only really cause minimal discomfort except for the fact that any physical contact from the Egyptian seemed to send Silas into a tantrum. He also took this opportunity to release the vaporeon's wrist only to slid his hand up into the other's hand, lacing his fingers with Silas's. "I have a question though..if you like me acting the way that I do, then why do you make such a fuss about it?"

He'd heard the apology, as well as the glass door closing, but kept his eyes closed and tried to think about other things, not that his mind was complying too well. It kept going back to the same person, trying to make sense of his companion's behavior, trying to somehow relate to it so that he could understand things even a little bit. He was trying to think about it logically, like school work, but his emotions kept interfering and he couldn't think about it objectively, at least not very well. He even tried thinking about it using emotions he'd felt when he was still in the gang, but digging so far back just made him uncomfortable and a little unstable. It'd been years since that time, and one would figure he'd be over it by now, but all he did was find some middle ground to attempt standing on, pushing it aside and trying to focus on things at hand. He'd grieved, he'd hated, he tried to make some sort of peace with it, but the pain was still there, though he was still slowly trying to get over that.

Silas felt the surface of the bed shift as a new weight was set on it, and it didn't surprise him when he felt the hand on his wrist, deciding to comply in rolling back onto his back. But, his blush found its way back to his cheeks as the man spoke, getting increasingly worse as the Umbreon laid over his abdomen. His eyes went a little wide briefly before glancing off to the side, only having the time to shift slightly before fingers were laced with his own. The Vaporeon's body went a little stiff, rigid, more so when he heard the question. He almost froze, like he'd been caught doing something he didn't want to be seen doing, or saying something he'd never say. But, he'd brought it upon himself, and he should have expected that Dendera would catch it, even if he himself hadn't until it was far too late.

His fingers twitched slightly against his companion's, turning his face away a little, the deep blush obvious. Silas's mind was racing, trying to understand it himself, and at the same time figure out how to answer the man's question.
'..why do I..Do I even know? Should I try to be honest or lie? Not that lying ever seems to get me very far..' he thought to himself, brow drawing together again, his expression both confused and frustrated, trying to figure his own thoughts out. His mouth opened a little and closed a few times, trying to speak but finding himself unable to, unable to think of anything logical to say, the pressure building up in his chest again. Before he could think much more to himself his mouth decided to work on its own. "I.." he started, but paused, biting the inside of his lip slightly for a moment, "..if you were literally stabbed in the back by the person closest to you, and you'd spent roughly five years working on closing your whole self off to everyone, would you be able to just openly accept someone tearing it all down." He moved his free hand back behind himself after a moment, shifting briefly to pull out his dagger, tossing it up on the bed lightly. "That's all I'd ever known," he said a little quieter, resting his free arm on the bed and pointing up at the dagger, "before you."

'..an embarrassing confession? That's what you decide to tell him? I really am an idiot,' he thought to himself, his heart beat picked up a little at his own words. "But I don't..think it's terrible?" he repeated from before, turning his head a little more to the side to try and hide half of his face in the blankets, his hair doing the rest to cover some of his red face, eyes closing a little. He was trying to focus but he was flustered, embarrassed, nervous, shy even that his mouth and voice decided to be so honest, maybe too honest. He didn't know what to do with himself, he almost felt at the Umbreon's mercy, judging words that he found he really meant. 'Why am I saying these things. They don't really matter..do they?' he thought again, part of him wishing his mouth had decided to stay quiet, the other just glad that it was out. The pressure was still there, but now the weight wasn't from lack of saying anything, but from possibly saying too much for himself to stand.

Dendera watched as the vaporeon's slowly became a tomato, his blush getting worse with each little action from the umbreon. He could feel the male beneath him tensing up, as he often did when Dendera passed his threshold for personal space invasion, but it was something that the Egyptian was becoming used to and just hoped that eventually Silas would become more comfortable with him and with him popping his bubble.

When Silas looked away from him, an obvious attempt at hiding that blush and evading the taller male's gaze which for some reason had some strong effect on him, Dendera reached out with his free hand to brush away the hair that had fallen over Silas's face, revealing his blushing cheeks. Then he heard the response to his idle question, and then some. He listened quietly, watching as the vaporeon took out the knife that was his reason for turning down the umbreon's offer of a hand-made weapon by him.

For a few moments, he just stared at Silas, unsure of what to say. It was surprising, the shorter male rarely really spoke openly about anything that he felt, or about his past. Though really, Dendera hadn't spoken openly about his past either, it was just easier to ignore it when the umbreon didn't wear it on his face, never really having seen his past as anything tragic just that it was how life was. Finally when he did speak, he was unsure of what he was saying and maybe it didn't even matter but that kind of statement deserved some kind of response at least, "Most people..hate being alone. I mean..I was never one of those people, but most people don't like it." he started, beginning to find it difficult to remain staring at those pretty blue eyes, "I hope that either way, you're glad to have me around. I don't expect you to change who you are, I just keep myself hoping that who you are will become more comfortable with me the way that I am."

These were things that he kept to himself usually, not because they were embarrassing but because he didn't know how Silas would react to knowing them. "I don't mean to be invasive, I'm just accustomed to doing whatever I feel like doing and no one telling me that I can't." he admitted, realizing that it probably sounded like a very childish way to live but he had never put a reason to his own actions before, never having to talk about himself before.

Then the umbreon decided to lighten up what was becoming a very serious conversation, and honestly he already knew that this trip would be filled with people that wanted a serious conversation with him, so even just for a brief bit something lighter would be nice, "Besides," he began with a small smile, bringing the hand that he held up to his lips, placing a soft kiss on the back of the vaporeon's hand, "It is just too cute when you blush like that." he finished, still content to lay over the vaporeon, actually rather liking the position.

Silas listened quietly, glancing at the Umbreon now and then as he spoke, going over the things he was told in his mind, his blush as deep as ever as he felt the fingers brush away his hair. He was a little surprised at what he heard, but thought them over carefully nonetheless, as he did with most things in his life. He glanced at the mound of pillows on the bed one final time before finally turning his face back to his companion, for once doing it of his own accord.
"..idiot," he said quietly, glancing to the side after a moment, "I'm not..used to it, but if I didn't want you around I wouldn't visit you, or even insist on coming with you on this trip." He glanced back at the man a little awkwardly, briefly, before closing his eyes a little once more, trying, for once, to push aside the side of him that was attempting to recoil at himself. "I..I thought I was fine with being alone," he started, hesitantly closing his fingers down to hold the Umbreon's hand in return, "..but I'm not anymore..So don't leave me alone." His eyes found their way back to red ones, staring at them firmly, yet vulnerably.

"I already knew," he replied back to the man's next words, raising his eyebrow slightly, "you invade my space constantly." He glanced to the side after a moment, eying the blankets a little stubbornly, "..but I never knock when I come over," he half mumbled. It was the Vaporeon's way of trying to say they were even, at least as best as he could. As much time as the two spent together, Silas still wasn't nearly as social as most other people. He'd learned, gradually, how to open himself up to Dendera, at least much more than he did to anyone else, but he still had difficulties with so many things, especially expressing himself. Part of him still didn't like it, still trying to become used to it, but now the larger part of him had grown into it, and was becoming tired of him holding himself back.

His blush remained at the compliment, as well as the soft kiss placed on his hand. He took a moment to try and relax himself more, as difficult as doing that was for him. Silas took a few quiet breaths, closing his eyes as he did before opening them again, looking back up to the red eyes that always managed to work best at calming him down. He got lost in those eyes, his breathing gradually slowing, his heart now beating at a steady pace, his mind calmed and no longer spiraling and running in circles. The weight on his abdomen was still slightly uncomfortable, but he found that he didn't completely mind it, part of him enjoying the closeness and warmth against his skin. The Vaporeon reached up slowly with his free hand after a moment, taking hold of the back of Dendera's head hesitantly, gently, pulling it down carefully as he lifted his own head up off of the blankets, meeting it half way to leave a light kiss on the man's forehead.

Silas let his hand move back down to rest on his chest after a moment, setting his head back down onto the blankets and turning it a little to the side, eyes darting away from his companion, his blush still deep.
'..I can't believe..I just did that,' he thought to himself, his expression slightly embarrassed. But, he tried to keep his body and breathing calm, trying to become more comfortable with such actions, though it would still take time getting used to. His eyes darted back to the Umbreon briefly before returning to the side, his mouth parting slightly. "I.." he tried, but closed his mouth soon after, letting out a small, awkward sigh. ''I' what? How the hell should I know. I don't know what I'm doing,' he thought, inwardly kicking himself.

Dendera just gave a soft laugh as he was called an idiot yet again, and for the same thing as he had been before. It was for Silas assuming that his words meant that he thought he didn't want him around. The umbreon knew and understood that Silas wanted him in his life, that much was at least obvious by now, the umbreon was just sharing a little peek into his own head which he understood to be hard to read sometimes. And he rarely shared very much information with the vaporeon as he was beginning to realize thanks to this surprise trip back home.

The next thing to leave Silas's lips both surprised the umbreon and put a pleasant smile on his lips. He reached out with both hands just to lightly run them through the vaporeon's hair, brushing it out of his face in the process, just a tender action that was filled with loving intent. "I'm not going anywhere." he assured the man that lay beneath him. But just as content as he was with that answer and this moment, he was reminded of the request that had been made along with the news of Amasis's death. It hurt him terribly to know how accepting that offer would affect Silas, he knew how hard it was for his companion to trust anything and it did worry him that serving for his country again would break what trust he'd gotten from the male.

If he did serve, it wouldn't be easy to leave Silas behind, really it would be terrible but it felt like it was what he should do. It felt so wrong to just go back to the States and live his life knowing the request for aid that he had received and the man that had died answering that same request years ago. Silas continued to speak, and he'd heard him but his mind was more in his own thoughts at this point, becoming very distressed with the decision that he was faced with. But suddenly, there was a hand at the back of his head and then lips softly pressed to his forehead. It had brought him out of whatever thoughts had been circling about in his mind, bringing him into a much more settled state as he stared down at two blushing cheeks.

A warm smile somehow found its way to his lips, as he let thoughts of the military slip away, vanquished by the simple kiss from Silas. "Hm?" was his response as the vaporeon seemed to attempt to speak again but had stopped. But before he could attempt to speak again, Dendera pushed himself further up on to the bed, sliding over his companion to lay on the other side of him, his long hair cascading over his body from the large movement. He stared at the vaporeon with curious red eyes as he began to offer random musings aloud, "You know..you used to hate for me to even barely touch you," he spoke in a playful tone, rather pleased with how things were turning out between them though he was unsure of what exactly it all meant - he would still enjoy it.

He reached out an arm now to let it rest across Silas's shoulder, dropping his hand into the man's soft blue hair, tenderly petting it as he spoke. "I don't think.. I honestly ever imagined you would become comfortable enough to kiss me." the words seemed so foreign to the umbreon's lips, normally he never talked about things like this. But normally, he never got close enough to someone that a conversation like this would even take place anyway. He had a feeling though, that his words would prompt Silas to snap at him, turn red, and pull away, but still at least it was cute when he was so stubborn - Dendera assured himself, having let all thoughts of the military slip away, at least for a few moments of peace and enjoyment.

Those same words again. Reassurance that he wouldn't be left alone, that the man would be there, would stay. They were words he was really starting to believe, until he had that letter translated, anyway. They were the only thing that circled his mind then, the reason they were even in the country unwillingly brought back to him. Maybe it was those words that compelled him to come, that and as much as he'd..started to trust Dendera, he couldn't assure himself that he wouldn't go off, wouldn't leave him behind. He would have been fine with it before, would have probably encouraged the man to leave so that he could be alone, have his privacy, 'be rid of an annoying and persistent man.' But that was before, that was before his walls came down, before he started to constantly visit the Umbreon, before the feelings had developed as they did. Silas wasn't so sure anymore, wasn't really sure of anything except the fact that he didn't want Dendera to leave, as much as he tried to avoid facing that fact himself, that he wanted him around. What scared him most was that he didn't know what he'd do if he really was left alone, dropped in the middle of something he'd never been in before, but found that he honestly liked.

Before he could try saying anything, before his mind could delve further into itself and the thoughts that he found he wanted to avoid, he felt the shift, and his attention was brought back to the room they were in. His eyes went a little wide, briefly at the man's words, the realization, but soon glanced down to the blankets, still trying to avoid those red eyes.
'..I did, didn't I..' he thought to himself, shooting a stubborn, small glare at the man's tone, cheeks still red. The Vaporeon couldn't think, not of anything to say. Half of him was paying attention to everything, the other half kept sinking back into his own thoughts, struggling to stay afloat.

His eyes went wide again at the man's last words, more so than they had previously, his face turning as red as ever. That brought him back, enough to at least focus on their current conversation. The hand in his hair was oddly soothing, but he sat up after a moment anyway, reaching over with a hand to slide a few fingers along some of Dendera's long hair, before grabbing it and pulling it a bit suddenly for a moment.
"Shut up," he snapped back stubbornly, sending another glare clouded by blush before his eyes darted off to the side again. He wanted to get up, he wanted to storm off somewhere and find something to occupy himself with, make himself at least look like he was too busy doing something to bother, but he couldn't bring himself to do any of it. He didn't want to leave the proximity, the warmth, the small amounts of contact that he'd started growing used to, his hand still gripping some of the man's hair, but no longer pulling on it.

'Why am I acting so weird? I don't care what he does, it's not my business, I don't..' he trailed off to himself, his mind sinking back into the thoughts he was trying to avoid. Silas gave a frustrated sigh before pushing himself up off of the bed, finally releasing his grip on the Umbreon's hair. "Don't you have things to take care of," he half mumbled, walking around to the end of the bed before bending down, deciding to rummage through his bag idly, trying to focus on something other than everything else that was starting to clutter his mind. It might've sounded a little cold, but, really, he couldn't stop thinking about it all, not now, and couldn't even focus enough to make his tone of voice anything but void and distracted. The whole situation, the letter, it all worried him, as much as he wouldn't admit it.

Dendera just watched as his blushing companion tried to avoid his gaze. He still didn't understand just what it was the Silas was seeing when he looked into his red eyes, but it was obvious that it had some sort of strong effect on the vaporeon, that much he had learned with the time they'd spent together and during every serious conversation. Honestly, the umbreon didn't understand much of what went on in Silas's head, he just knew that he had found himself a place in his life and that he was happy there. And really, that was all that he needed to know, curiosity would find it's way to any other answers that he sought.

"Silas.." he said in a soft tone as his hair was tugged and he was told to 'shut up', he wore a tender smile on his lips, as he attempted to soothe whatever it was that made the vaporeon snap at him like he often did. He reached out to run a hand through Silas's hair again, but soon after the boy had pulled himself up off the bed, busying himself with something that obviously wasn't important but was only an excuse not to pay much attention to Dendera as he reminded him of the things that he needed to do here.

Then suddenly, Dendera did remember something very urgent that he needed to tend to as soon as possible. "Oh..I..yeah I actually do.." he raised a hand to his own lip as he felt his heart gripping his chest tightly. 'The body..I have to..I have to see the body..God..' he felt like he would cry, but he couldn't - wouldn't let Silas see him like that again. He didn't want to but he had to go to wash the body, it was tradition and had been taught to him from a very young age and though he was an atheist now - it was still something that he knew he had to do, at the very least out of respect for the dead, and his soldier. "I..I'll be back soon." he finally said, beginning to take on a more firm tone in hopes to hide the fact that he was actually rather shaken. "You can't come. You can come to the funeral but for this I want to go alone." he said without giving many details, and honestly hoped that Silas wouldn't ask for any.

Then he got up from the bed himself and headed towards the door to leave it at that. But as he reached for the door knob, he felt that pang of guilt in his chest. He shouldn't just rush out like that so harshly, Silas had done nothing wrong, it wasn't his fault that things were the way that they were. He took a moment to mentally collect himself, standing frozen at the door before turning back around. "But tonight when I get back, let me take you down the Nile, if you still want to swim in it then I want to take you to the clean water." he gave a small smile, an attempt to make it all better though he had a feeling that nothing could make this trip seem like a good thing for either man.

After mentioning swimming though he was reminded again of the clothing he had bought for Silas and the swim trunks that were still in his bag. "Oh!" he rushed over to his bag and pulled out the shopping bag, tossing it on the bed in front of the vaporeon, "They're for you. They won't fit me and I can't get a refund." and then he placed a short and soft kiss on his companions cheek, and before the vaporeon could object, he headed for the door "I'll be back soon, I promise." he assured him and then he was gone, off to clean the body of Amasis, his caretaker for so many years.

He'd heard his name in a familiar, though not commonly used tune, but before he could let it affect him too much he received the answer to his idle inquiry, that was more used as a distraction if anything. His eyes glanced to his companion briefly, but long enough to tell that what he'd brought up had quite a bit more gravity to it than he thought it would. He felt a small unnameable twinge in his chest as things moved from there, the Umbreon's words, actions. Silas really wasn't much for standing out, purposefully getting noticed, but being pushed aside by Dendera seemed to affect him more than he wanted to face. He kept his eyes on his bag, though his hands had stopped, and listened, trying to keep his face as expressionless as possible, as it usually was.

Before he had time to do anything, the offer of the Nile trip was brought up again and the shopping bag from earlier was tossed onto the bed in front of him, and after the lips were briefly on his cheek and a promise was said the man was out the door, and Silas was left to his own company, which was both comforting and strangely uncomfortable. His mouth parted briefly before closing again, his cheeks red as he turned his face and attention back to his bag.
"..I want to," he answered lately to no one in particular, a little quiet, his expression a little confused as he stared at his bag. '..I didn't even open it..' he thought to himself after a moment, letting out a breath he didn't think he was holding in and reaching up with a hand to rub his face once.

The room was quiet, the only sounds he could hear was the shuffling of his own clothes as he stood up straight, and the faint, muffled sounds of the city outside of the hotel room. He just stood there, unmoving, for what felt like forever. It made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
"..What the hell!" he finally yelled at nothing in particular, venting some of his frustration and taking in a deep breath before letting it out shortly after. The Vaporeon walked back around to the side of the bed, staring at his dagger briefly before reaching behind himself and pulling out it's holder, picking up the dagger itself and tucking it securely back inside before hopping onto the bed.

He wasn't much for tv, by far. Silas rarely watched it, usually ending up too bored with most things to pay attention for very long. But, he'd managed to find one of the movies he made an exception for on the large flat screen tv, in English as well to suit the tastes of the tourists, not that English was all he knew, but it was his most fluent language. He'd propped himself up against the mound of pillows, legs loosely brought up near his chest and hands folded comfortably in his lap, a half finished off tray of room service's sushi next to the bed. Silas wasn't really for eating much either, but when he had to he had to. He felt relaxed, at least as much as he could be, absorbed into Finding Nemo, even smiling and chuckling quietly on occasion, things he rarely did even when he was alone. But, the movie was one of his guilty pleasures, something that always seemed to lighten his mood and thoughts when it started to become too much. At some point, though, the door to the room suddenly came open, and he scrambled to quickly turn off the tv, eyes a little wide with surprise at the entry that he should have heard, but was too caught up in the movie to pay attention to.

As was customary in most Arabic countries, the body of the dead was washed and wrapped by the closest living relative, which in this case was Dendera. The one thing that made it just ever so slightly easier on him was that the body had been damaged and aged enough that it was already wrapped when he arrived and he only had to go through the tradition of washing it, without ever having to lay eyes on the rotting face of his loved one. He had wept, quietly as was all that was allowed, and spoken to the body as though it still held the man he had known and it could offer him some answers. But of course no answers to his questions came, and he would be forced to make his decisions for himself. And he had the heavy decision on his shoulders between his sense of duty towards his country and Amasis, and going back to the States and continuing his life with Silas.

It took a bit longer than he had wanted it to, he had wanted to just finish it and go back to his hotel room where the one that he loved would be waiting and he could pretend nothing had happened. But of course he didn't get his way because his emotions had gotten the better of him and he had spent hours there just mourning his loss and the decisions that he was incapable of making.

After he had left, he made his way straight to the Semiramis, in the car that he'd rented before leaving the hotel. Every step seemed heavy as he approached the door, but he knew that he couldn't be like this in front of the vaporeon, he couldn't let him know how bothered he was by all of this, he didn't want to upset him. So before turning the knob he took in a deep breathe and put on a small smile, assuring himself that seeing his companion would help his mood return to normal, and he could forget holding the body in his arms. Just then though, he heard such a foreign sound, at least for Silas, laughter. Not loud or boisterous laughter by any means, but it was still definitely a laugh!

He turned the knob and opened the door only to be greeted with the television quickly clicking off, Silas having scrambled to make sure it'd been switched off. "Wha..?" Dendera stared curiously at the vaporeon, surprised and unsure of what had just happened. And then he thought that maybe the other thought that he wasn't supposed to be watching the television and so the umbreon assured him, "I don't mind if you use anything in the room.." and then he approached the television and turned it back on, the screen changing to a colorful cartoon! Finding Nemo to beat it all! Silas wasn't worried about Dendera not wanting him watching television! He was embarrassed about watching the cute children's cartoon. "Aw..you're so cuuute." he had the widest grin on his face as he watched the television for a second, almost in awe of what had just taken place, before turning back towards the vaporeon to just admire what he found to be the most adorable thing that he could have come home to. And he was right, the vaporeon had helped his mood a lot, and he was able to disregard the earlier happenings.

There it was, that grin, that tone, those words, they all sent his face's complexion into it's usual deep shade of red as he just stared a little wide-eyed at the man, unsure of what to do or even say. He felt caught, almost like he'd been doing something terrible that was a long kept secret, and suddenly he'd been seen doing it by the one person he didn't want to see him doing it. He was frozen on the bed, on his hands and knees gripping the tv's remote controller tightly in a hand, his knuckles almost white. His mind had gone blank, almost matching previous times where he couldn't come up with anything, even a logical reaction to what had just happened. Instead, he only stared at the man for what seemed like forever, the movie turned back on but no longer holding his attention or making him feel relaxed in the slightest. His face was hot and his vision half focused yet not seeing anything, that was about all he could put together in his mind.

After the brief pause, and before he really even knew it himself, he quickly jumped to his feet and ran, leaping off of the bed and tackling the Umbreon to the floor, straddling him and bringing the remote to hold up to the man's neck the way he usually held his dagger.
"You didn't see anything," he finally managed in as threatening a tone as he could muster with his face shot red and voice unbearably shaky with embarrassment. After a few moments of just staring at the man he blinked a few times, eyes glancing at the remote before his expression turned confused and he tossed it to the side, letting it land on the bed. 'The hell did I think I was going to do with that?' he thought to himself, raising an eyebrow at his own actions.

It took too long for him to realize it, his position and who he was on top of, but after he did his blush managed to somehow get deeper and he quickly got up off of the man, moving over to stand near his bag after shutting the tv off quickly with a half hit of his palm on the tv's power button. The Vaporeon's eyes darted off to the side, his heartbeat flooding his ears but trying to take a few breaths to get himself more composed than he currently was. He hadn't been taken by surprise quite like that in the longest time, it was an unusual sensation for him.
"..Nile?" he finally asked, glancing at Dendera briefly before his eyes glanced off again, trying to change the subject somehow and sooth his own awkwardness.

It seemed that no time had passed between the moment when Dendera was just grinning at the blushing vaporeon, and the moment when he was pounced by the usually physically shy paler male. He just smiled up at his companion as he implied a threat that, as serious as Silas might have been he just didn't have the brute force to follow through on. That is, even if he wanted to. "You are so cute." the umbreon repeated in almost a daring tone but apparently the vaporeon had realized how silly the remote was and the fact that he was now seated on top of the Egyptian.

Dendera let out light warm laughter as his companion retreated, then quickly attempting a change of subject. The umbreon peeled himself off the floor, feeling the tinge of pain from where his a** had made impact - but it was easily ignorable and one of the much lesser pains he'd been through in his life. Before the vaporeon had much time to react, Dendera had grabbed hold of his wrist again and brought it up to his lips, kissing the bare spot above his own fingers on the wrist that he held. "Why do you hate for me to think that you're cute?" he asked, completely ignoring the reminder about his suggestion of a trip down the Nile when he got back.

Then after a moment, he grabbed hold of the man's other wrist, pulling him by his wrists to face him before slipping his hands into lighter ones. "Is it.. too childish?" a small grin was beginning to make its way back onto his lips as he dipped closer to his companion's face, "Would you rather I call you something more adult? Sexy maybe?" he suggested with that grin only widening as he knew that this would certainly be pushing those barriers that the vaporeon insisted upon. "That suits you as well..it's just that sometimes you have these.." he paused to glance at the television that was now off for a moment before returning his gaze to pretty blue eyes, "..overwhelmingly adorable moments." the glance to the television had obviously been a reminder to Silas of the moment that had just happened. And now he didn't expect this one to last for much longer.

He felt his wrist snatched up, but before he could try and pull it away he felt lips on it, making him freeze where he awkwardly stood.
"Would you-" he started, but his voice got caught in his throat when he heard the rest of what the Umbreon had to say, his blush once again as deep as it had been earlier before the man left the room hours ago. His eyes went a little wide again at what he heard, his body going a bit rigid. Silas was too caught up in the whole situation to even protest to hands holding his own. It wasn't that he hadn't heard the words before, in fact he'd heard them all before, and then some, but he'd never thought of associating them with himself in the slightest.

His mouth opened and closed somewhat a few times before he finally shot a stubborn glare at the man.
"Dendera-!" he protested through slightly gritted teeth, trying to pull his hands free of his companions'. It felt strange, the whole situation somehow felt strange, or maybe his mind just finally opened itself up to the possibility of looking at the man in a different way, one that he hadn't considered before. But, he stopped himself short of saying anything, stopped trying to pull his hands away. Silas glanced off to the side for a moment as he thought to himself, eyes finally returning to red ones after a bit. '..He wouldn't use me..would he? A distraction from all this? This trip?' he thought to himself, his expression a little conflicted and confused, 'He hasn't before, but this hasn't happened before..this..'death of someone you're close to.' I don't know how it works, I don't understand it, I don't understand people when it happens, I've never experienced it myself. What if..'

The Vaporeon closed his eyes and shook his head briefly after a moment, as if the action would make the thoughts disappear. But his lips were moving on their own, though he couldn't really look at the man as he spoke.
"I'm not..I'm not just some distraction for you, am I?" he finally asked a little quiet, unsure of his own words but somehow unsure of Dendera's actions as well. From what he'd seen before when those around him had lost someone, no one could act like his companion was, and if they did it wasn't honest words or actions. And, Silas's trust was still shaky, still not completely sure, though that uncertainty had been caused by the letter he'd had translated before coming to the foreign country. There was the possibility that Dendera would leave, though Silas would protest to it, and that possibility shook everything that he was now standing on.
