Bug shook her head. Only weirdo people think up silly things like that. Just a few more turns and...
Bug stopped, "A.... cat. She was a little stunned that her friend would get something like that. Quaking a bit while remembering the time she was almost eaten by one when she was with that stupid Nutbar. Cats were scary and Vance would have to do some major convincing to make her change her opinion.

Vance stopped as Bug did, looking at her with an innocent smile. "Yup! A cat! He's got big pointy ears, a scar over his eye and he loves it when I give him tuna. Dad gets mad, cause it's his tuna. And he likes to sit with me when I do stuff, and follows me around. He's so cute!" Vance didn't seem to think Bug minded. She must be envious, that's all~. That's why she got quiet.
"I found him in a box all alone. He was really hungry! No one was taking care of him. But I saved him! Hey, do you have a pet, Bug?" Vance asked, still smiling ear to ear.

Now Bug was horrified, and truly hoped she'd never have to meet said Boxer. Pointy ears? And a scar?! He had to be tough and more than happy to eat a bird if he was happy to eat a tuna fish.
Closing her gaping mouth Bug was able to quickly answer the boy and started to make way towards the fort again."Wei and I have a land snail. Wei says it's actually a god." More than just any god it was a creator of life, but it was still small and could only just support a sapling.

A snail? That's an awesome idea for a pet! "Wow! I didn't know snails could do that." He learned something new! Maybe he should bow the next time he saw a snail? He would probably do just that.
"Wait.. is a land snail different from a normal snail? I thought all snails are on land." Vance tilted his head with a thoughtful look on his face. There was more than one type of snail? "So what's its name?" All pets had names! A snail was no different.

"He's.... special. He came from Wei's home world. And they have trees and and have water and Wei says that the really big ones even have animals in them, and the biggest one of all is her home world it's self." Bug couldn't say it was the truth or not, but their pet did seem to support much of what she said in a smaller scale.
"Hi's name's Speedy" because he was just so darn fast. Not!

All this other word stuff was over the dense boy's head, but the name of the snail made him laugh. "Hahaha! That's a strange name for a snail." But also clever, he supposed. Oh.. or maybe he was fast! Like a super snail. Vance stopped laughing and looked deep in thought, imagining that this Snail God might have heard him. Will he be slimed for his crime?!... hee hee that ryhmed~.
"See anything interesting yet?" Vance asked as they headed far from where they were.
Oops.. he forgot his bag. Oh no!! Mr. Bear was in that bag! He hoped his beloved bear would be okay... Vance suddenly looked mildly panicked.

"Yeah we're just abou....What's wrong Vance?"Bug stared at Vance he didn't look a pleased as he normally did something was off something was... Oh, his bag, where was that? It wasn't over his shoulder or anything.
Bug tilted to the side she couldn't see the pond from where they were, it had to have been left back there. "It's okay Vance we can go back for your bag." though she wasn't really sure why he was so worried about it, it was just a bag.

Vance shook his head. "No, it's nothing." He couldn't let Bug know he carried his bear with him. How uncool would that be? He smiled for Bug, chuckling. "I'm sure it's safe." Vance pulled Bug along, even though he didn't know where they were going. His bag would be fine.. most people generally didn't go to to the pond anyway... he hoped.
As if his drawn on yellow backpack was of any value to strangers. Never mind the fact he completely forgot he captured some poor tadpoles in a cramped jar.
"Is there something special over here? I don't think I ever got this far into the park." Bug must know lots of cool places.

"Oh, well only if you're sure." Bug didn't quite believe Vance was okay with leaving his bag behind but he didn't want to go back. So what was she to do?
While being pulled amazingly enough in the right direction, "Yup! Bug stopped and pointed upwards. They were there, and the tree fort was empty, all there's for the taking.
It had both a step ladder nailed into the tree it's self and a rope ladder although the last people that played in it didn't leave it down. Three of the tree's thickest branches had platforms and one even had a little roof to it.
Bug waited to see Vance's reaction to it before making her way up the ladder.

Vance loosened the grip on Bug's hand as he approached the destination. He looked up, his mouth agape at the wondrous site in the tree. It was a house! In a tree! It was a big fantasy brought into existence by some unknown power. Vance's eyes lit up like lights as he gazed up.
It was Kid-Topia! "This is awesome!" Vance ran forward toward the tree, looking eagerly at the ladder. Without any hesitation, Vance climbed up the ladder and into the tree fort to explore. "Woooow!" The green haired boy leaned over the edge to look down. Gosh, he'd never been up high up! Everything seemed so small.

Bug giggled, this is what type of reaction she was hoping for. Casually she meandered up after him. Once up to the top Bug giggled some more.
"It is pretty amazing ain't it?" she smiled and admired the view. Soon she'd be able to get this high without the help of trees, soon...
Bug turned from the observation area and moved over to the sheltered area where she sat down comfortably letting her legs hang off it's edge. Bug let out a happy little sigh before flopping onto her back and closed her eyes so she could simply listen to the wind blow through the leaves. It was just so nice to be up so high.

Vance looked over his domain, leaning his elbows on the railing as he watched. Bug seemed to be making herself comfortable elsewhere. Vance stood straight and jogged to the other side of the tree house, leaning over another railing. This continued until the red eyed boy seemed to be tired of exerting his energy so uselessly, and he joined Bug where she was, laying down with a sigh.
"Hey, Bug?" He asked suddenly, "Do you and Wei not have a family? How come you live in a hideout?"

"Yeah?" she responded to his sudden start. Oh he wanted to know about that? Bug went quiet for a moment trying to gather her thoughts just right for him.
"Wei had a family, but she said they all died years ago." she paused. That explained about Wei but not Bug. Bug shifted a bit in her place and started softly kicking her legs.
"I don't have one, I never did. And I guess we live at the boat house because we've got no where else to go." Not having a family bothered her. Some people would ask her about it like now, others just clued in or simply, as some, just didn't think it was possible she wouldn't have one.

They have no family? They had no house? Vance's face fell. He didn't realize things like that could happen. He was so happy to have a daddy. Why couldn't Bug have a family too? Vance was a bit upset. He didn't know how to help. "I didn't know.. I thought your hideout was just a secret club..." He said after a bit of silence.
"Then.. how do you get fed? Do you have a bed?" This was starting to worry him. He had no idea what a hideout was like. He could only picture it like a tree house. He knew they didn't have much to them.

Bug couldn't see Vance's facial expression to know he was upset, but figured he had some thing to add based on his silence. Smiling a bit, as it was always nice to feel a good friend worry over you a bit. Continuing to kick her legs she casually started to mention things.
"Oh we eat lots, like how we visited your house that one time, it was to eat. Theres many other houses that have tons of food just sitting around. And got a bed, well Wei says it's more like a nest." because it really was a pile of clothes and blankets they had stolen and usually would curl up in the centre of it just like a bird would.
"It does seem to be getting colder as of late, but that's what more blankets and fire wood is for. she said confidently.
Bug sat up and stared at Vance with intent. "If you want you can come see and know for sure how good our house is." no one had ever been there outside of Wei and herself, it'd be fun to give someone 'the grand tour.'
