Baiken no Kusari
Chain of the Lowest House
User Image

___Description:
___More than a hundred years ago there was a peculiar house of nobles within the ruling structure of Kusagakure no Sato. It was easily the most despicable and least respected of all the noble families, suffering from constant infighting and a poisonous lust for power. As the main family’s properties slowly fell into disrepair, side families started pushing for more prominent roles. The eventual result was that the family almost descended into a civil war, prevented only by an unknown assailant who slaughtered every last member of the family in the middle of the night. This murderer—known only as “Baikengoroshi”, or “Murderer of the Lower House”—was known only from the testimony of one witness to have used a kusarigama. It was said his prowess with the weapon surpassed any other, and his name became legend.
___Half a century ago, a man claiming to be Baikengoroshi appeared in Sasagi City and pawned the scrolls he had used to learn his fighting style. Too old and drunk to do so, he lamented his inability to take on an apprentice, and so he issued a challenge to the Shinobi Nations as well as the Samurai, with the reward being the honor and bounty gained from killing him. In battle, his movements were unparalleled in speed and power, but he was ultimately felled by a wandering vagabond he encountered in the forests of Kusagakure on the way to the challenge grounds. An anonymous figure then purchased the scrolls of the man’s art and disseminated them to the world at large, so that all may learn his craft. The style was praised for its alternating use of wide, arcing strikes and quick, precise slashes, and quickly gained popularity among Shinobi.
___Relevant Training: Kusarigama, flying guillotine.
___Notes:
• Grants a Slight increase to Strength for every other stage mastered starting at the first stage. Additionally, gives a Slight increase to Reflex for every other stage mastered starting at two. (Strength is granted at stages 1/3/5. Reflex is granted at stages 2/4/6.)

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Saisho no Kamae [ Initial Stance ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The most basic of stances, taught mostly to those without any prior training. The practitioner stands with their feet about shoulder-width apart, the sickle end of the kusari-gama in the dominant hand and the weighted end in the off-hand. While in this stance, the practitioner treats an opponent’s complex and spiritual techniques below this technique’s rank as though they were simple and complex, respectively. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every second post.

Kakutou [ Scuffling ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A reinforcement of the limbs for the duration of two swings of the blade. This technique is used to enhance the speed of the swings, but leaves the user open for a counterattack afterward. Launches two attacks nearly simultaneously at this technique's rank. Both attacks are treated as simple when interacting with defenses, and up to one of them may be substituted for a simple offensive technique using the kusarigama without consuming an extra activation. Only consumes one activation, but renders the user incapable of attacking with the kusarigama for one post.

Keri [ Kick ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user kicks an enemy, sending them back a meter per rank. Causes damage of a rank higher if the target is bound or otherwise immobilized.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Saishuu no Kamae [ Final Stance ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The second and last stance shown in the scrolls pawned by Baikengoroshi. The practitioner stands with their dominant leg bent and supporting most of their weight close to their body while the non-dominant foot is placed toward the opponent. The user holds either the weighted end or the bladed end of the chain in their forward hand while rapidly spinning the other end using their dominant hand. If the blade end is being spun, all offensive techniques within this Style have their speed set at the highest trained rank of either the user’s kusari-gama Formless Style or flying guillotine Formless Style, up to this stance’s rank; if the weighted end is being spun, an enemy’s defensive techniques up to this stance’s rank suffer a slight decrease in Fortitude per this technique’s rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Gekitai [ Repulse ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user spins the weighted end of the chain and uses the spinning motion to launch the weight at an opponent with tremendous force. Reduces the durability of any physical defensive technique of its rank by one rank per hit, to a minimum of E-Rank durability by causing cracks to appear in it. Consumes two activations if the user is not in Saishuu no Kamae [ Final Stance] of at least this technique’s rank. If used against an unanchored opponent who is not defending, this technique loses all descriptive bonuses to strength and then takes a supreme penalty to it, and the target is launched away two meters per this technique’s rank.

Karite [ Reaper ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user swings the bladed end of the weapon toward the enemy in a short arc, pulling the blade back as soon as it leaves the enemy’s threat range. Can be used up to three times per post.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Busoukaijo [ Disarmament ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A swing with either end of the weapon that is designed to wrap around an opponent’s weapon. Following a successful wrap, the user yanks back on the chain, recalling their weapon and the enemy’s at the same time.

Kusarihebi [ Viper ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: An arcing strike with the blade end of the weapon. Upon hitting an opponent, the blade will dig in and the Chakra will disperse around the wound, creating bloody lacerations around the point of impact. Causes bleeding damage each post at two ranks less than this technique’s rank. Treatment with a medical technique of at least this technique’s rank stops the bleeding, but additional treatment is necessary to heal the wound completely.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Kusari Kyouka [ Chain Reinforcement ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: A flooding of the chain with Chakra, enhancing its durability greatly. The chain becomes immune to damage from unenhanced weapons entirely and resists damage of its rank or lower.

Ruisetsu [ Bound Imprisonment ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user swings out with the weighted end of the weapon, charging it with Chakra as they do so. Upon impact with another Chakra source, the Chakra in the weight pulls it around the target and stiffens the joints between the chain links, binding the target in place. Lasts for two posts and cannot be ended early without using Kaiki [ Recovery ].

Yuuou [ Spirited Advance ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A swift forward movement accompanied by a swing of the weapon. At higher ranks, the speed of the strike is enough to create minor shockwaves, stretching out up to one meter per rank above C-Rank. Gains a slight speed bonus per rank.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Daigyakuten [ Great Reversal ]
Rank: A :: Simple
Description: An instantaneous switching of the chain’s orientation in the hands. Used to change the effects of Saishuu no Kamae [ Final Stance ] without having to reinitiate the stance. Costs one rank less for each time it was used in the last three posts.

Oomi no Kama [ Long Blade Sickle ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: A honing of the blade edge of the sickle that extends the range of attacks by half a meter per rank and negates any descriptive bonuses to enemy defenses. Lasts for five posts.

Baiken no Sesshou [ Killing of the Lowest House ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A technique similar in effect to the Fuuton technique Kuchiyose: Kirikiri no Mai [ Summoning: Blade Dance ]. The user throws the blade end of the weapon and uses Chakra to fine-tune its path and let it dance between many different targets. Inflicts damage as a rank lower than it’s used at, but can strike up to thrice per rank within the weapon’s range. Consumes all activations for the post if used above C-Rank; if used at or below C-Rank, it only consumes two activations.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Kaiki [ Recovery ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A general term given to a cluster of movements designed to overcome the weaknesses of other techniques in this Style. If used alongside a technique at that technique’s rank, any negative effects of the technique are negated. Cannot be used with stances. If used during a post when the user has not used a technique with a written drawback, the user may use an additional Bukijutsu technique of up to this technique’s rank without consuming an activation. Can only be used once per post.

Baikengoroshi no Dantoudai [ Baikengoroshi’s Guillotine ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user throws the blade end of the weapon outward, then yanks back while discharging Chakra through the weapon. This causes the blade to rocket back to the user and extends any blade enhancements along the blade’s path in both directions by 10 meters. Effective even against gaseous attacks.

Butsuzou
Statue of the Enlightened One
User Image

___Description:
___Statues of deities are very common in many religions, and have long been made in various sizes. In one particular sect of a particular religion, a high priest had the idea to punish sinners by forcing them to meditate while supporting the weight of one of these statues. This idea, originating in one of the Fire Country's temples, was initially thought to be very harsh and cruel, but it seemed to yield fantastic results: after several sessions of meditating under the weight of the statues--which were made of brass, and thus called "brass men"--the sinners began to repent en masse. As the punishment continued, their bodies hardened under the holy weight, and their strength and endurance rose to monstrous levels.
___As word of the effects of the punishment spread, many religions began adopting it as a training method for the devout. As a consequence, a combat Style arose from this training that caught the eye of the Shinobi world. Such is this Style.
___Relevant Training: Brass man, Hard Physical.

___Notes:
• Meditation techniques in this Style take twice the regular number of posts to learn, but consume no Chakra or Stamina to activate outside battle.
• When learning meditation techniques, a heavy weight must be placed either on the practitioner’s legs or in their arms. This weight must weigh at least as much as the practitioner does.
• The weapon known as the “Brass Man” is a brass statue, typically of a Buddha. To wield the Brass Man effectively in battle, the practitioner must have at least one rank trained in the Hard Physical Formless Style for every 50 lbs. (23 kg) of weight the statue has.
• Meditation techniques in this Style can be learned in order as Formless Techniques by anyone who has performed at least 30 jobs for a religion.
• Gains a slight increase to strength with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Mokusou [ Silent Meditation ]
Rank: E :: Simple :: Stance
Description: By sitting and performing quiet introspection, the user ferrets out thoughts that aren’t their own by thinking about nothing at all and letting the intruding thoughts float to the surface. For every post the user remains meditating this way, they are treated one rank higher when it comes to noticing Genjutsu. After reaching S+Rank this way, additional posts will let the user be treated as someone of the Genjutsu class when using Kai starting at E-Rank and increasing by one rank max per post of meditation. This bonus persists for two posts after meditation ends. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Ouda [ Strike ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A simple clubbing of someone with the statue. If the user’s highest trained rank in the Hard Physical Formless Style is at least two ranks higher than the rank this technique is used at, this technique gains a mild bonus to Strength per rank.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Shikan [ Calm Meditation ]
Rank: D :: Simple :: Stance
Description: By sitting and letting thoughts rise and float away without attachment, the user gains quadrupled Stamina recovery during the course of the meditation. Additionally, any enhancements to Chakra regeneration apply to Stamina during this period. Cannot be used while in active combat. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Kakou [ Drop ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user imparts some of their Chakra to the statue, then lets the statue fall. Anything in the statue’s path takes damage as a result of the statue’s weight and also due to this technique. If the statue comes to rest on soft ground, it throws up a cloud of dust that impairs sight within a radius of one meter per rank for two posts.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Shikantaza [ Meditation without Enlightenment ]
Rank: C :: Simple :: Stance
Description: By sitting with the statue’s weight fully on the lap and breathing deeply and slowly, the user can halt the progression of techniques, poisons, and other afflictions that have an effect that increases or changes per post within the user. No other techniques may be used while this one is active, but they may be maintained. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Fugyoutenchi [ Looking from Heaven to Earth ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A simple interception of an incoming strike with the statue. Negates any bonuses to heavy weapons if they are blocked this way and deflects any effects that are triggered on impact to the ground around the user. Must be at least the rank of the blocked attack. Deflection only occurs if this technique is used at or below the user’s highest trained rank in the Hard Physical Formless Style.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Sansei [ Frequent Meditation ]
Rank: B :: Training
Description: A state of calm entered whenever multiple meditation techniques are used in succession. If the user has used at least three other meditation techniques in the past 24 hours, the user gains doubled Chakra regeneration while resting and any Chakra regeneration techniques have their effects doubled. Effects begin with the third meditation’s beginning and end one hour after it ends.

Konki [ Persistence ]
Rank: B :: Complex
Description: By charging the body with the user’s strength of will, the user reinforces the muscles they use most for a period of four posts. During this time, any physical technique the user employs gains a mild strength bonus for every time that technique has been used since this technique was activated. All Formless techniques of the same type count as the same technique for these purposes. Can only be used once per encounter.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Kyougyou [ Meditation while Walking ]
Rank: A :: Training
Description: The user trains by holding the statue in their arms while walking. After completing this training, all other meditation techniques can be used while walking or standing, so long as the statue is held in the arms. Additionally, due to the user's extensive training using the statue, the user's techniques made to resist disarm attempts while wielding the statue are treated as complex. Additionally, the user gains a moderate increase to fortitude per rank of the technique used if they are resisting being disarmed by a technique that would injure them.

Kawatake [ Bamboo by the River ]
Rank: A :: Complex
Description: A focused burn of the user’s Chakra to convert raw strength to flexibility. Allows the user to use the Hard Physical Formless Style in place of the Soft Physical Formless Style to perform mobility-related techniques. Lasts for five posts.

Koushi no Seishi [ Meditation through Exercise ]
Rank: A :: Complex
Description: By miming the movements of other fighting styles, the user becomes able to convert their learned ranks in the Hard Physical Formless Style temporarily into ranks in one of the Mental Formless Styles, at a rate of one rank per post. This function lasts for one entire encounter, or until the user wills it away (if outside of battle). If used in battle, allows the user to channel any Taijutsu techniques related to the Hard Physical Formless Style through the statue for four posts.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Zen [ Profound Meditation ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: A state of mind found through accepting anything and everything in the world. For six posts, all of the user’s techniques gain one descriptive rank in strength, speed, reflex, or fortitude per job title the user has. Can only be used once per battle; can be used at will outside of combat, if used to complete jobs. Effects gain double the bonuses provided by Sage Mode and last for twice as long while in Sage Mode. Cannot be used again for 4 posts after being used, starting after this technique ends.

Taigo no Doku [ Poison of Spiritual Enlightenment ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The user charges the statue with Chakra, filling it with the weight of their convictions. For six posts, anything the user strikes has its weight increased by one rank per title the user has reached in the Religion [Job]. Increased weight lasts for six posts.

Nigirikobushi no Shintou
Impact of the Clenched Fist
User Image

___Description:
___A form of combat with origins closer to street fighting than formalized martial arts, Nigirikobushi no Shintou [ Impact of the Clenched Fist ] places great emphasis on nullifying the opponent's defenses and bringing them down (or up) to the practitioner's level. A favorite for those who want a good, clean fist fight. As the primary weapon of the Style is the cestus, it is very easy for Taijutsu users to pick it up, and is also compatible with armored gloves and other, similar instruments. While use of the Style is frowned upon in certain circles for its lack of refinement, there is no denying its effectiveness.
___Relevant Training: Cestus, armored glove, Hard Physical.

___Notes:
• This Style can be learned as either Bukijutsu or Taijutsu. It counts as both when interacting with techniques that affect certain categories of techniques (i.e. If a technique gives a boost to Taijutsu, this Style gets that boost; if it gives a boost to Bukijutsu, it gets that boost; if it boosts both, then techniques of this Style are boosted twice).
• Gains a slight increase to strength with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Shindoutaisei [ Impact Resistance ]
Rank: E :: Training
Description: The user acclimates to using the cestus in a battle setting by pounding away at a training dummy with the cestus. By analyzing the feedback of different forms of strikes, the user finds a way to minimize any damage they may take from their own strikes. Upon completing this training, the user suffers no recoil damage from techniques from any non-Rigorous Taijutsu or Bukijutsu Style up to either the highest trained rank in this Style or the highest trained rank in the Hard Physical Formless Style, whichever is lower, and does not suffer damage from striking anything harder than their fists.

Sokyaku Ouda [ Rejection Strike ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A strike of excellent form, employing the user's whole body to destroy whatever is being struck. Anything hit by this strike is treated as having the base durability of a typical sample of its material (i.e. Hyouton ice is treated as normal ice, any attributes that naturally increase the durability of something are negated, etc.). Any Chakra-based reinforcements still apply. Damage caused to the object struck is determined by this technique's rank.

Kenka no Kamae [ Scuffle Stance ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: A simple stance wherein the user keeps on the balls of their feet and raises their fists to between chest and eye level. Increases the limit for Speed descriptive increases slightly per rank. The user can choose to sacrifice any Strength descriptive increases that a fist-based attacking technique would grant and gain half as many descriptive increases to Speed instead. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Hanchou [ Recoil ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A technique best used against a strong defense. Those struck by this technique are sent flying backward one meter per rank of this technique. Additionally, any stances up to this technique's rank are disrupted upon impact, and defensive techniques with a duration lose one post per this technique's rank of their remaining duration when struck.

Jiten Atemi [ Spinning Blow ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A technique designed purely as a reaction to an opponent's movement. Should an initial strike miss, the user pivots and redirects the strike to a different target without losing any of the initial force. The speed of the spin is determined entirely by the rank of this technique.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Shouten [ Focal Point ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The user meditates through combat, taking time to narrow their focus to their Chakra pathways. In so doing, they become innately aware of when they are being observed in combat, and can pinpoint the locations of anyone below their rank observing them within one meter.

Hyouji [ Marking ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: The user injects some of his or her Chakra into the opponent through a touch. Mark lasts for two posts per rank and is compatible with any techniques that require the user know where a target is, though it does not impart any locational knowledge to the user. This can be used with the auto-grapple rule. Marks can be removed with a rank-appropriate Kai [ Release ].

Hyouryuu [ Drift ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A technique that automatically activates given the following conditions are met: the opponent is marked, the user is attacking, and the opponent uses a technique to create distance. When the opponent is attacking a marked opponent and that opponent flees, the user can have this technique automatically activate to follow the target without consuming any activations. The rank of this technique is the rank of whatever technique the opponent used to flee. Using this technique, the distance between the user and the enemy remains constant.

Hibiware [ Fissure ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A strike that shatters whatever it touches. When used on the ground, naturally occurring structures, or buildings, it causes large fissures to appear in a 2 meter radius per rank around the point of impact; if used against armor or defensive techniques, it does normal damage as though it were one rank higher, but only affects the area within half a meter of the impact point, allowing the user to create holes in otherwise sturdy defenses. Destroys unreinforced weapons.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Renzoku Mouda [ Repeated Heavy Blows ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A series of three sharp blows. Should all three land against an unarmored opponent, the opponent's Stamina recovery rate is quartered until they receive medical treatment for their injuries.

Kenka no Mouda [ Heavy Blows of the Brawl ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A Chakra-infused punch meant to force the opponent into a brawl. Knocks the Chakra out of a technique the enemy has prepared, in addition to doing regular damage. If the target is marked with the user's Chakra, the next Ninjutsu or Genjutsu technique they activate consumes one more activation than normal. Does not work if the punch lands on medium armor or heavier (B-Rank or higher, for armor techniques).

Gyounen no Kamae [ Stance of Concentration ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user shifts between standing on the balls of their feet and planting their feet to maximize both the impact and swiftness of their movements. Increases the limit for Strength and Speed descriptive increases slightly per rank. If used while someone is marked with Hyouji [ Marking ], the user can instead choose to raise the limits of Fortitude and Reflex. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Reiki no Mouda [ Heavy Blows of the Aura ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A Chakra-infused punch. The main power of the punch is not located in the fist, but around it; should the punch not make contact, a wave of Chakra will carry the full force of the technique outward and deliver it to the target as an invisible blast of force. Damage is one rank lower if the punch makes a direct hit. The wave of energy flies in a straight line if no target is marked with the user's Chakra, and flies straight for the nearest Chakra marking the user has laid down otherwise.

Konsen [ Free-for-All ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A punch with little force behind it, meant to antagonize an opponent. When used against an opponent of this technique's rank or lower, this technique negates any descriptive increases the opponent has and suppresses any Ninjutsu- or Genjutsu-related bonuses for three posts.

Toushi [ Will to Fight ]
Rank: A :: Spiritual
Description: Shares any bonuses to Taijutsu and Bukijutsu the user has with a marked target. At the same time, the user gains any bonuses they have. Lasts for four posts.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Zenmenhitei [ Complete Denial ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The epitome of the Style's philosophy: the strike that negates armor. While it deals damage as a technique a rank lower than its own, it also destroys any armor of its rank or lower and reduces the duration of any armor reinforcement techniques lower than its rank by three posts. If the target is marked with the user's Chakra, their armor takes damage even if it has been reinforced with a technique, in addition to the technique's duration being lessened.

Sousoushin [ Belligerence ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: A suffusion of the user's body with their fighting spirit, flooding their muscles with Chakra. Increases the strength of Taijutsu and Bukijutsu techniques mildly per their rank, as well as the user's fortitude. Any enemies who are marked with the user's Chakra also gain this bonus to Taijutsu and Bukijutsu strength, but allies do not. If no enemies are marked, Formless Techniques are treated as complex for interacting with other techniques for this technique's duration. Lasts for seven posts.

Hirahira no Uchiwa
Fluttering Fan
User Image

___Description:
___From its origins as an accessory or a decoration, the paper fan has risen to the status of a powerful weapon in recent years due to the desire for an easily disguised weapon. One school in particular became very popular not just among trained assassins, but also among nobles and royals as well, who viewed the fan as a weapon that would not detract from their beauty. Hirahira no Uchiwa [ Fluttering Fan ] is not that Style; employing harsh movements designed with functionality in mind rather than form, it is considered too crude for high society. It is not uncommon for practitioners of this Style to curse other schools of physical techniques for emphasizing form too much over function, and for this reason, this Style is considered an arrogant one.
___Relevant Training: Any fan.
___N o t e s:
• Gains a slight increase to speed with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Danretsu [ Snapping Apart ]
Rank: E :: Simple
Description: The user snaps open the fan with great force, creating a loud sound that briefly startles opponents. During their next post, the opponent loses one supplementary activation. Only effective against opponents lower than the user's rank. Effective three times per battle.

Kouzanchou [ Alpine Butterfly ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user holds the fan in their dominant hand about three-quarters of the way open and resting by their stomach on the opposite side of the body from the hand holding it. Their non-dominant hand is kept open and near their ear on the opposite side of their body; if there is a fan in this hand, it is also kept three-quarters of the way open. Increases the limit for Speed and Reflex descriptive increases slightly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Pokitto Shimari [ Closing with a Snap ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user closes the fan with a sharp snap, disrupting the concentration of onlookers. Users of the Mental Formless Styles lose a post of concentration per this technique's rank and cannot gain them for one post per rank afterward. Effective three times per battle, regardless of rank.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Dekopin [ Poke to the Forehead ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A thrust using the closed fan. If the opponent would take damage from this technique at the rank it is used at and is maintaining a technique, that technique consumes an extra post's worth of Chakra and/or Stamina on the target's next post. Only affects one technique at a time, and only up to the rank of this technique.

Pinta [ Slap in the Face ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A forceful slap with the side of the closed fan, intended to daze the opponent. After being struck with this, the target's next action loses any descriptive bonuses to speed. Causes a loud smacking sound.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Kirikata [ Way of Slicing ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: Creates blades of Chakra along the fan's edge, lasting up to 1 post per rank. Blades immediately disappear if used for a technique above their rank.

Juudan [ Slicing Across ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A slice with the edge of the fan. Leaves behind wounds that continue to bleed until treated by a medic. In addition to the effects of blood loss, wounds cause the target to lose Stamina as though using a simple Taijutsu or Bukijutsu technique two ranks lower than this technique's rank for three posts or until the bleeding is stopped, whichever comes sooner. This technique is considered to be a rank lower if the fan used is not bladed.

Tsume [ Claw ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A slashing strike with the fan, moving perpendicular to the fan's edge to claw at the opponent with the blades. Removes one post per rank from the target's accumulated concentration for the Mental Formless Styles; if none are present, acts as a Kai [ Release ] of the technique's rank as performed by a member of the Genjutsu class. Does not work if the fan is not bladed.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Mi Me Yori Kokoro [ Substance over Form ]
Rank: B :: Training
Description: The user practices pumping as much Chakra as possible through their fan, then draws back to find the sweet spot where the amount of Chakra used yields maximum benefits. Reduces Chakra costs for fan-based techniques by five, to a minimum of five Chakra.

Tosshutsu [ Projection ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: By imbuing an open fan with Chakra, the user is able to launch techniques in this Style through the air, up to this technique's rank. Has a range of one meter per rank and a duration of one post per rank above D; at E-Rank, it lasts for exactly one technique and consumes no activations.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Honbou [ Club ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A fierce smack with a closed, Chakra-infused fan. Causes any held Chakra or techniques in the struck area to fall to the ground and be dispersed harmlessly. Causes no harm to the area struck and only affects techniques up to its rank.

Hitoare [ Squall ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A forceful opening of a Chakra-infused fan that sends out a shockwave. Disrupts projectile techniques up to its rank and causes any sustained techniques in its range to consume an additional post's worth of Chakra and/or Stamina. Has a range of one meter per rank.

Sundan [ Cut to Pieces ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user spins the fan rapidly in hand, striking with each spin. Consumes only one activation, but attacks once at each rank up to the rank it's used at, with each attack being considered a separate technique when interacting with defenses. The user cannot activate physical techniques above B-Rank for a full post after using this technique.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Aporo Usubashiro Chou [ Parnassian Butterfly ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user stands with their legs apart, with the dominant leg in back and their weight squarely on their forward foot. The fan in their dominant hand is kept fully open and lowered to run parallel to their rear leg. Their other hand is held palm-outward by their dominant shoulder; if there is a fan in this hand, it is kept closed. Increases the limit for Speed descriptive increases slightly per rank. One action involving the fan(s) per post is treated as spiritual, so long as the fan(s) ends the post closed (if it started the post open) or open (if it started the post closed). Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Mutsugiri [ Break into Six Pieces ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A weapon-shattering defense. The user catches an incoming attack with the fan, then slams the fan shut on the weapon. If unreinforced, the captured weapon immediately shatters; if reinforced, any ongoing techniques affecting the captured weapon have their durations reduced by one post per rank. An unreinforced weapon requires C-Rank force to shatter.

Reiyou Sokyaku [ Rejection of the Beautiful Form ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The ultimate rejection of beauty as defined by the practitioners of the Style. After pumping Chakra into every pore of their body to the point of bursting, the user becomes covered in their Chakra manifestation (which appears black if the color is not normally visible). For the duration of this technique, the user's fan-based attacks become a full rank stronger and they gain an extra activation per post, but cannot use techniques unrelated to the fan. Lasts for six posts.

Hashi no Heisei
Serenity of the Chopsticks
User Image

___Description:
___A style of fighting that dates back an unknown amount of time, defined by playful youngsters and honed by old people with an abundance of both time and inner turmoil. Over time, the playful, lightly aggressive use of chopsticks as a weapon grew into something more, something dangerous: as grudges between the elderly deepened, their fights with chopsticks grew more earnest, and their attacks more bold. In time, though, the wicked strikes of the aged grew weak, and soon the angry elders found themselves incapable of fighting with a newer, more tranquil school of chopsticks use. In the end, the hyper-aggressive old school was supplanted by a new, calm school that incorporated basic Chakra control and advanced weapons training into its curriculum. This was the birth of the military chopstick.
___Relevant Training: Chopsticks, Soft Physical, Soft Mental, Hard Mental.

___Notes:
• Any character over 80 years old who has learned another Bukijutsu or Taijutsu Style can learn the techniques in this Style, in order, as Formless Techniques.
• Characters who have performed at least 10 missions in the employ of a restaurant (or similar) or as a Ryourinin (Shinobi Chef) gain a 1 post reduction for learning all techniques in this Style. This bonus increases by one for every 10 missions thereafter.
• Grants a Slight Increase to speed for every other stage mastered starting at the first stage. Additionally, gives a slight increase to reflex for every other stage mastered starting at two. (Speed is granted at stages 1/3/5. Reflex is granted at stages 2/4/6.)

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Hashidzukai [ Chopstick Use ]
Rank: E :: Training
Description: The user acclimates to using the chopsticks by eating with them. Following completion of this extremely rigorous training, all techniques involving chopsticks cost 5 Stamina less, to a minimum of 5 Stamina. Does not consume a slot if learned as a Formless Technique.

Waribashi [ Splittable Chopsticks ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The act of defending oneself with the nearest pair of chopsticks. The user blocks an incoming strike by grabbing it with the chopsticks, stopping it in its tracks. Gains a moderate bonus to speed per rank, but suffers a mild loss in strength per rank against non-Bukijutsu attacks.

Sugibashi [ Cedar Chopsticks ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The act of brushing away an attack like one would brush away a fly. The user employs the sides of the chopsticks to redirect an incoming attack just enough so that they aren't injured by it. Ignores any Strength descriptive modifiers on the opponent's attack.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Saibashi [ Serving Chopsticks ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A technique designed to fend off those who would sully good food with their filthy hands. The user first deflects an incoming strike slightly to the side, then smacks the nearest of the foe's body parts. Gains a mild bonus to speed and a mild detriment to strength per rank. If used above the rank of an incoming weapon strike, this technique will dislodge that weapon from the foe's grip.

Iwaibashi [ Festive Chopsticks ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A technique born at tables where there is much fighting over food. The user charges their chopsticks with Chakra, then leans in and takes something of the opponent's in one fell swoop. This can be used to disarm the opponent, steal things, or pluck out things like eyeballs, but cannot take anything that is fastened in place, such as armor. Gains a mild bonus to speed per rank.

Kyuukeishitsu [ Break Room ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user sits down to catch their breath. Defensive techniques employing the chopsticks executed from this position are treated as spiritual. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every time an offensive technique is used.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Hashi no Kokoroyari [ Thoughtfulness of the Chopsticks ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The user practices passing food using the chopsticks. Then, the user charges their chopsticks with Chakra and passes food. This forms the basis for further utilitarian study into the chopstick. Techniques involving the usage of chopsticks cost 5 Chakra less, to a minimum of 5 Chakra. Additionally, the user becomes able to consume liquid using chopsticks charged with Chakra.

Nuribashi [ Lacquered Chopsticks ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: By utilizing advanced food-passing skills in conjunction with their Chakra, the user plucks a technique affecting a target's body, armor, or weapon and passes it to another target. If the technique is not immediately passed on, it returns with one post less in duration. Only affects techniques at or below its own rank.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Hashi no Seihitsu [ Peacefulness of the Chopsticks ]
Rank: B :: Training/Complex
Description: The user trains by eating food quickly with the chopsticks. This grants them the ability to find inner peace while eating, doubling their rate of Chakra and Stamina regeneration while eating with chopsticks. Additionally, if the user is able to feed themselves daily while recovering from injury, recovery time is halved. Can be retrained as a complex technique to allow the user to feed others and grant them the same bonuses, even if they are unable to feed themselves. If learned as a Formless Technique, this technique only takes up one slot even if retrained.

Manabashi [ Long Preparatory Chopsticks ]
Rank: B :: Spiritual
Description: The user relaxes and sends Chakra through the chopsticks, pushing outward as much as possible to create an extension of the chopsticks. The range of any chopstick-related technique is doubled while this is active. Lasts for five posts.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Kodzukukoto [ Poking ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A quick jab with the chopsticks. Gains a heavy bonus to speed per rank, but cannot deal lethal damage.

Hippatakukoto [ Slapping ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A hard slap with the side of the chopsticks. Causes a loud slapping sound that disrupts auditory Jutsu of its rank or lower for one post and causes the opponent to flinch, lowering the number of activations they have in their next post by one. The reduction in the number of activations does not stack.

Kyousurukoto [ Serving a Meal ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user holds their chopsticks together in front of themselves as if they were about to serve a dish. Increases the limit for Speed and Reflex descriptive increases slightly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Hashibukuro [ Chopsticks Container ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A technique originally developed to pry open clams or separate a pair of competing chopsticks. The user inserts their chopsticks into a gap or hole in something, then opens the chopsticks, either forcing the gap or hole open further or tearing it open.

Oshouban [ Sharing a Meal ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: The user relaxes and lets their Chakra waft into the area around them. Their speed with chopstick-based techniques is increased by one rank for the duration of this state. During the same time, anyone eating a meal within five meters of the user gains double the bonuses provided by that meal, including natural recovery bonuses for Chakra and Stamina. If the meal is loud and boisterous, those within the range have any pain (physical, mental, or emotional) alleviated. Lasts for seven posts.

___Description:
___Not everyone is a "good kid". Not everyone fights "fair". Not everyone follows those things called "rules". These people are delinquents. Some of these delinquents are dropouts of Shinobi Academies across the world, and some of that set of delinquents specialize in street fighting. To clarify: "street fighting" means inflicting hilarious amounts of damage with bats and clubs. Go figure.

• Characters who have performed at least 10 missions in the employ of a shady organization or as a thug gain a 1 post reduction for learning all techniques in this Style. This bonus increases by one for every 10 missions thereafter.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Koukou [ Taking the Field First ]
Rank: E :: Training
Description: The user acclimates to using their weapon as a baseball bat, at least as much as they can stand to do so. Projectile techniques lose all descriptive bonuses against the user, and techniques involving a bat or club used to defend against projectile techniques are considered a rank stronger. Only effective against techniques up to the highest trained rank in this Style.

Hinda [ Poor Hitting ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A one-handed smack with the bat or club. Loses two descriptive ranks in strength per rank, but causes two meters of knockback per rank.

Isshigo [ After an Out ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user holds their weapon over their shoulder nonchalantly, as if inviting the enemy to attack. Increases the limit for Fortitude descriptive increases slightly per rank. For the post after taking a hit from an enemy, the user gains a mild increase to Strength per rank of the hit taken. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Netsukyuu [ Smoking Pitch ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user swings their club or bat like a baseball bat with all their might, inflicting severe damage on whatever they hit and sending it flying backward. Causes two meters of knockback at E-Rank, increasing by one meter for every rank thereafter. If the target of the strike is airborne, causes four meters of knockback per rank.

Kyuui no Aru Toukyuu [ Powerful Delivery ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The physical manifestation of overwhelming fighting spirit. The user's club or bat is engulfed in Chakra, doubling any knockback effects and preventing any struck enemies from performing techniques in response to being struck. Only affects techniques up to its rank. Lasts for one post per rank.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Shigaisen [ Street Fighting ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The user hones their strength and endurance by beating people up and getting beaten up. After completing this training, the user gains one descriptive rank in strength and incoming physical attacks lose one descriptive rank in strength against the user per learned stage in this Style.

Uramachi Kenka [ Back-Alley Brawl ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: Any time the user is struck with a physical technique and/or damaged physically, this technique can be activated. So long as the user has at least one functioning arm, can stand somehow, and has not fully bled out, the user can function as normal in the fight through sheer force of will. The rank of this technique is equivalent to the amount of damage taken, and is drained at the beginning of each post. Stacks separately for every bit of damage received, but only if the damage is taken in a new area or is significantly worse than previously.

Shikyuushiki [ Season-Opening Ceremony ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user stands with their weapon hanging loosely down at their side, their back straight to bring them up to their full height. Increases the limit for Strength descriptive increases mildly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Zanshin [ Follow-Through ]
Rank: B :: Training
Description: The user trains by beating people into the ground with their club or bat. Following completion of this training, should an enemy come into contact with a solid surface after suffering knockback from one of the user's techniques, they take one rank's worth of damage for every two meters of remaining knockback distance. (Ex.: They got knocked backward 6 meters, but struck a wall after only 2 meters. They take a D-Rank amount of damage, one rank for every two remaining meters.)

Haraise [ Retaliation ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user swings the club or bat downward. Causes damage as a rank higher against defensive Taijutsu and non-defending people. If used after the club or bat has been knocked upward, gains an additional rank in speed.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Okaeshi [ Returned Favor ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: After defending against a physical attack with the club or bat, the user immediately swings back at the attacker. This reprisal gains any descriptive bonuses that the opponent's attack had, as well as the effects of any strength- or speed-enhancing techniques affecting that attack. Bonuses do not persist after the attack.

Ryuuketsuzata [ Bloodshed ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A powerful Chakra-infused strike. The user allows the Chakra to diffuse slightly before impact, lowering the overall damage caused by one rank but causing the affected area to start bleeding. Considered a rank higher against Genjutsu, and can be used on oneself even if the user is otherwise immobilized by one. The user is treated as a member of the Genjutsu class if using this to disperse a Genjutsu.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Chigatana [ Bloody Blade ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: A method of reinforcing the club or bat with Chakra that makes even defending against the user's strikes difficult. For the duration of this technique, any time the user strikes an opponent's physical defenses, that opponent takes damage to whatever part of their body was involved in the defense (the hands for most Bukijutsu Styles) at two ranks lower than the user's attack. Lasts for five posts.

Chimamire no Tsuppari [ Bloodstained Delinquent ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: This technique can only be activated if the user has been bloodied by combat. As adrenaline surges through the user's body, Chakra surges with it, simultaneously nullifying almost all of the pain they feel from their wounds and bolstering their strength to overcome whatever obstacle lies ahead. The user's attacks gain a rank in power, and for the duration of this technique, if an opponent's defensive technique would be treated as greater than S-Rank, it is instead treated as S-Rank. Additionally, all of the user's attacks with the club or bat gain a knockback effect of one meter per rank, stacking with any they already have. Lasts for six posts.

Seinaru Oodachi
Sacred Greatsword
User Image

___Description:
___In the Five Great Shinobi Nations, the thought of someone carrying a greatsword isn't too far-fetched, especially during times of war. However, in some of the lands to the west where samurai dominate in the place of Shinobi, carrying such an overly large blade is seen as an affront to the shogunate's authority, and as such possessing one is considered to be in poor taste at best and illegal at worst. This sentiment clashed with many of the beliefs held by older samurai in those regions, who did not want to part with the blades and skills they had honed over the years just because of some political insecurity. Instead, they turned to religion: given the prevalence of samurai in the west, religious sects that incorporated blades and other weaponry had already begun to crop up; so, when a school of training in the greatsword cropped up that claimed it was training people for religious reasons, the shogunate could hardly object without drawing the attention of religious groups across the land.
___The shogunate was not one to give up without a fight, though. For a while, members of this new church would find themselves being visited frequently by government officials, and spies were planted inside every branch of the school that popped up. It was soon decided that, for the sake of the sword skills they had honed, the samurai had to make their new religious sect as real as possible. Each school adopted a separate religion and began carrying out the religious rituals thereof, integrating the greatsword as much as possible. In large cities, it was not uncommon for a single school to service multiple religions, so the training halls were converted into large houses of worship. Over time, the schools integrated more wholly with their religious wings and the smokescreen became a reality. The collection of the different religious teachings on the greatsword make up the body of thought behind the Seinaru Oodachi [ Sacred Greatsword ] school, which has gradually made its way into the Shinobi nations from the land of the samurai.
___Relevant Training: Any large, two-handed sword.

___Notes:
• Samurai who have completed at least 30 jobs for a religion can learn the techniques in this Style, in order, as Formless Techniques, provided they are an active member of that religion.
• Characters who have not reached at least the level of "Follower of Xx" in the Religion [ Job ] suffer a post requirement increase of 5 posts to learn any techniques in this Style. This means that learning any technique in this Style takes an additional five posts.
• Gains a slight increase to strength with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Reisei [ Diligence ]
Rank: E :: Training
Description: The user practices taking care of their blade, maintaining it as if it were an important religious tool. As a result, the blade maintains its edge against even the most powerful foes, not chipping or dulling during even the fiercest conflict. Any effects that would reduce or negate descriptive bonuses have no effect on the user's blade.

Ha [ Blade Edge ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A simple slash backed by the user's religious fervor. This technique's strength is slightly increased per rank.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Seigan [ Blade Aimed for the Eye ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A quick strike that takes advantage of the length of the blade to make it disappear due to speed. Users of Doujutsu and sensory techniques up to this technique's rank gain no bonuses to detecting this attack. Any descriptive ranks applied to reflexes or speed are similarly inapplicable when defending against this attack.

Nadegiri [ Clean Sweep ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A lateral chop designed to cut through more than one person. Should it encounter defenses more than one rank below its own, this strike will cut cleanly through the primary target and keep traveling in an arc until either the user stops it or it encounters a defense strong enough to stop it. The strength of this technique diminishes by one rank for each target hit.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Gitou [ Ceremonial Sword ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The user integrates the sword fully with one of their religious ceremonies, all the while infusing it with Chakra. This must be completed three times to gain the benefits of this training. Following the completion of this training, the user gains the ability to negate two descriptive ranks of any stat affecting their blade to gain one of the following effects, based on their religion, any time they use a technique from this Style (deductions may be made multiple times):
• Ninshuu: Raises the ability of everyone connected to the user's Chakra pool to use Kai [ Release ] by one rank, but only for one post.
• Jashinism: Extends the duration of the user's immortality by one day per kill. If the user is not currently under the effects of Jujutsu • Shijihyouketsu [ Sorcery • Death Controller Possessing Blood ], has no effect.
• Evergreen: Shares one active enhancement to the user's physical skills with his or her allies, but only for one action and only as long as they remain within five meters of the user.
• Shinto: The user's blade is treated as one rank higher for the duration of one attack, but only when clashing with another technique. Consumes one post's worth of post reduction coupons earned from Shinto jobs.
• Buddhism: The user's blade is treated as one rank higher for the duration of one technique, but deals only nonlethal damage. If all of the user's strikes for a conflict are nonlethal, there is no penalty to the A.C. earned as a result of the fight.
• Other: Consult with a crew member to determine the effect!

Shiraha [ Naked Sword ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: An attack specializing in its adaptability, at the cost of stability. When swinging the blade, the user prioritizes one stat (strength, speed, fortitude, etc.) above all others; for the duration of this strike, that stat has any descriptive bonuses to it tripled, but all others are nullified. Consumes two activations. If the stat chosen has no descriptive ranks attached to it, it gains a number of descriptive ranks equal to 1 per the user's body rank; if the user has only one stat with any descriptive ranks, all other stats are reduced by a full rank until the end of the next post.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Hawatari [ Walking on the Edge of a Sword ]
Rank: B :: Complex
Description: The absence of any official stances brought about a technique for movement centered around the sword. By charging the connection between their hands and the sword hilt with Chakra, the user becomes able to reposition themselves once per post without consuming an activation, so long as the movement is followed by a technique involving their greatsword, nodachi, etc. The speed of this reposition is the user's highest learned rank in any related Formless Style. Repositioning can be almost any movement within three meters of the user's location at the beginning of the post. Lasts for four posts.

Tenbatsu [ Heavenly Justice ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A strike that hums with Chakra. A moment after the initial attack, a wave of Chakra leaps from the blade, slashing along the path of the strike from the hilt of the sword up to two meters out. This second strike is treated as a rank higher when disrupting the stances of opponents who cannot easily perceive Chakra.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Tsurugi [ Double-Edged Sword ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user swings specifically to strike a foe's weapon. Should contact occur, any active enhancements to the opponent's weapon are transferred to the user's blade for the remainder of their duration. The Chakra of any techniques taken this way is treated as the user's, not the original caster's. This technique's rank is one higher than the highest-ranked technique affecting the opponent's weapon, if there are multiple; if there is only one, this technique's rank must be at least the rank of the one affecting the opponent's weapon.

Warerukoto [ Cleaving ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: A downward slash with the blade, infused with the teachings of the practitioner's religion. This strike can only be used once every three posts and gains the following bonus(es) based on the user's religious affiliation:
• Ninshuu: Damage caused to the opponent causes a reverberation in the user's Chakra, serving as fuel for a Kai [ Release ] affecting the user's shared Chakra pool. If no Genjutsu is affecting the Chakra pool, all affected parties regenerate Chakra at half their standard regeneration rate while relaxing, in addition to any regeneration they undergo naturally.
• Jashinism: Extends the duration of the user's immortality by one day per serious wound inflicted. Additionally, any damage caused to the self with this technique while under the effects of Jujutsu • Shijihyouketsu [ Sorcery • Death Controller Possessing Blood ] is three times as severe for the target of that Jutsu. While under the effects of the aforementioned technique, this technique can be used with any type of blade attack, not just a downward slash.
• Evergreen: Upon making contact with the opponent, the amount of Natural Chakra the user and the target have is balanced between them. Additionally, any Natural Chakra the user gains through this strike is also granted to their nearby allies, but without the normal risk of petrifaction.
• Shinto: A "one post reduction" coupon (as specified in the religion's description) is awarded for each rank of this technique upon a successful hit. Striking a creature or monster with this technique allows the user to learn one fact about the creature, as determined by the crew. Any Fuuinjutsu [ Sealing Techniques ] struck suffer a 4 post reduction in their remaining duration.
• Buddhism: All damage as a result of this technique is nonlethal. Additionally, even the slightest graze by the blade is considered a full hit, and causes damage as such. Defensive techniques are considered two ranks lower when interacting with this technique.
• Other: Consult with a crew member to determine the effect!

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Shinseishi [ Deification ]
Rank: S :: Training
Description: Can only be performed once the practitioner has reached the highest level in their religious sect. The practitioner incorporates the blade into a ritual designed to turn it into a sacred tool. Thereafter, the blade becomes synonymous with a minor holy artifact in the practitioner's mind, and wielding it grants them a sense of religious fervor. Should the practitioner's religion change following this process, the blade shatters. Grants one of the following passive effects, based on the practitioner's religious affiliation:
• Ninshuu: Any person trained in Korabo Ninjutsu [ Collaboration Ninjutsu ] with the practitioner is considered part of the practitioner's Chakra network while within two meters, at the practitioner's discretion. While this function is being used, the user's maximum number of activations per post is reduced by one. Clones cannot be used to extend this functionality.
• Jashinism: While under the effects of Jujutsu • Shijihyouketsu [ Sorcery • Death Controller Possessing Blood ], any pain the practitioner feels is amplified by ten times and shared with a marked target. Additionally, anyone within two meters of the same target feels the normal, un-amplified pain without suffering the wounds. Pain from a technique above someone's rank is considered enough to make them black out temporarily, reducing the number of activations they have on their next post by two.
• Evergreen: The practitioner may reduce their number of activations per post by one to share another one of their attributes with their allies or to regain one attribute when away from their allies for as long as they remain at that reduced number of activations. Does not function when not wielding the blade.
• Shinto: Allows the practitioner to count any mission completed with the sword as a Shinto-related mission. This exchanges any reward(s) the standard mission might have for the reward(s) of the same-ranked Shinto mission. A.C. gained from B-, A- or S-Ranked missions completed this way is halved, instead of being nullified entirely.
• Buddhism: The practitioner's blade deals only non-lethal damage. While in combat, the practitioner can gain posts of concentration toward one of the Mental Formless Styles without having to pause and consider the situation. Additionally, the practitioner can convert any Ryou rewards from missions into post reduction coupons for religious jobs, at a rate of a single "one post reduction" coupon per 200 Ryou converted.
• Other: Consult with a crew member to determine the effect!

Tenjin Chigi [ Gods of Heaven and Earth ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: Envelops the user and their blade in a cloak of Chakra for three posts. At the time of learning, the user picks one of the following attributes: strength, fortitude, speed. This technique can be retrained up to three times, picking a different attribute each time. Upon activation, the user selects one trained attribute; for the duration of this technique they gain the following ability, based on what attribute they chose:
• Strength: Offensive techniques with the sword are considered a rank higher in strength. Enemy defensive techniques lose all descriptive bonuses for two posts after being struck by the user's blade.
• Fortitude: Incoming attacks lose all descriptive bonuses for two posts after making contact with any part of the user. Any offense-enhancing (e.g. blade sharpening) techniques on the opponent's weapon are suppressed while fighting the user without having their durations reduced.
• Speed: The user's blade is treated as being twice as long and the user is treated as being under the effects of Hawatari [ Walking on the Edge of a Sword ] for the duration of this technique, with any repositions granted by this technique stacking with those granted by Hawatari [ Walking on the Edge of a Sword ].

Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi
One Thousand Furious Falling Stars
User Image

___Description:
___Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi is a style created by a small clan of females that branched off from the samurai of olden times. The style itself, created by a woman named Akarui a very long time ago focuses on precise and quick strikes, working to overwhelm the enemy with insane speed, agility, and accuracy. Users of this style use a Rapier; a thin and long sword used for trusting and piercing attacks and put not only speed but strength behind their attacks.
___Relevant Training: Rapiers.

___Notes:
• Users of this style often have lithe bodies.
• Cannot be used by those unable to use elemental Chakra.
• Chakra elements' effects are as such:
- Raiton: Shock, numbness, and stiffness
- Katon: Burns and localized dehydration
- Fuuton: Conical chakra apparition around weapon, causes tons of small cuts upon impact
- Suiton: Larger cuts, contusions
- Doton: Causes bludgeoning damage.
• Gains a slight increase to speed with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Thrust
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The basis of most attacks. The user thrusts their rapier forward with one hand, moving their dominant foot in front of them to keep balance. A rapier technique done following this technique gains one descriptive rank in speed per this technique’s rank.

Backwards Thrust
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: Taking a step back with the dominant foot, the user uses both hands to thrust the rapier backwards into a foe approaching from behind. Gains a mild bonus to strength per rank when interacting with armor and armor techniques.

Fly Swatter
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: In a quick movement with one hand, the user brings up the blunt point of the rapier in an arc like motion. This technique will not cut, but will sting like hell upon contact, causing the afflicted to lose a prepared action at or below this technique’s rank.

Sideward Parry
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: Taking a small step to the side and bringing up the dull side of the rapier, the user lets the opponent's weapon slide along the blunt side of the sword. If used at or above the rank of the opponent’s attack, the opponent continues forward and falls flat on their face.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Elemental Charge
Rank: D :: Training
Description: The user channels one of their Chakra elements into their rapier for stronger and more interesting attacks. These channeled elements are clearly visible, forming an aura around the rapier's blade. Once this technique is learned, the user can charge and discharge their weapon as easily as breathing. Only one element can be used at a time, and once an element is applied to a weapon, all of the techniques used become complex. The strength of the effects are considered to be the rank of the accompanying technique.

Lunging Stance
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user shifts most of their weight to their back foot and points the tip of their rapier at the top of the opponent’s head, keeping their guard raised at all times. Increases the limit for Speed and Reflex descriptive increases slightly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Dual Pierce
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user quickly thrusts forward twice, putting their weight behind the strikes. The thrusts are so fast that they leave the opponent next to no time to react. However this opens the user for balance issues, as most of their weight is focused on one foot. This attack is considered one rank higher in speed, but until their next post the user is considered one body rank lower when targeted by a technique that affects balance.

"i" Strike
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user rushes forward and thrusts towards the enemy. If the thrust is successful, the user quickly pulls out the weapon, then brings the Rapier's sharp edge up, slashing the enemy to add insult to injury. The blade will cut fairly deep, and the resulting wound will look like a lowercase I. If the first strike hits, so does the second one. Loses one rank in strength if used against an armored foe. Causes severe bleeding, resulting in the removal of two descriptive ranks in strength from all of the opponent’s physical techniques up to this technique’s rank. This effect stacks. Loss of descriptives lasts 1 post per rank.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Deflection
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: Bringing up the Rapier, the user deflects a projectile heading towards them with the blunt side of the blade. This technique gains a moderate boost to speed per rank, unless the projectile is small (coin-sized), hard to see, or if the user does not know the location of the person who launched it.

First Falling Star
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user first channels Chakra into their legs, then launches themselves a good distance into the air. Then, as they fall, they channel Chakra in to their Rapier, bringing about a bright glow to the weapon. It's said that this technique's appearance can be likened to that of a shooting star. Before impact with the enemy, the user thrusts forward, sending out a Chakra shockwave before the thrust lands. Any elemental effects on the blade affect targets up to two meters out in the line of the strike.

Charged Star's Fury
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: Much like Dual Strike, the user rushes forward, thrusting forward twice. However these thrusts are much faster thanks to charging the weapon with Chakra, and all that can be seen from these strikes are glowing spears of light; an aftershadow. Treated as two separate attacks when interacting with enemy defenses, with the second attack being a rank lower in strength but a rank higher in speed.

Star's Exploding Anger
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges up their Chakra, then quickly pierces the ground with their rapier. Upon impact with the ground, the rapier discharges its element in to the ground, creating a circular tsunami of Chakra. The effect area is 5 meters in diameter and the effects of this technique depend on what Chakra is used. Depletes any Chakra stored in the rapier, removing the effects of the charge from the user’s rapier for the remainder of the post.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Unwavering Balance
Rank: B :: Training
Description: After getting used to throwing their body around in many different directions and learning how their body twists and turns, a user can train this technique by perfecting their balance. This passive makes the user almost impossible to knock over: any techniques below the user’s body rank that attempt to do so fails to cause knock over.

Star's Overwhelming Fury
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: Like Charged Star's Fury, the user rushes the opponent. Then begins to stab forward with a Chakra-charged blade at amazing speeds. The only thing visible from these fast strikes are the glowing white spears of light that are left as an after-image. There are no pauses in between these thrusts and they can quickly overwhelm the opponent if not stopped. Consumes two activations, but affords an additional strike per this technique’s rank. Each attack gains a slight bonus to strength per rank.

Guard Breaker
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: Standing in a stance with their feet at shoulder's width apart and the dominant foot slightly forward, the user holds their rapier slightly back about elbow high. Concentrating for [1] whole post, and then lunging forward, the user can pierce through nearly any non-chakra reinforced armor and shatter it to pieces. When used on an opponent not wearing armor, it's not unlikely that the rapier will go straight through the enemy's body. Considered one descriptive rank higher in strength, but loses two descriptive ranks in speed per rank. The “per rank” strength increase is doubled if used against an unarmored foe.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Dual Elemental Charge
Rank: A :: Training
Description: An advanced version of the technique Elemental Charge. Instead of only being able to imbue their rapier and techniques with one element at a time, the use is now able to channel two Chakra natures in to their weapon. The user is able to charge and discharge their weapon at will, but adding a second element to it consumes 10 Chakra.

Stance of Engagement
Rank: X :: Complex :: Stance
Description: The user leans forward so their weight is primarily on their forward foot and holds their rapier in their forward hand, keeping it pointed squarely at the center of the foe’s chest. Increases the limit for Speed descriptive increases mildly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Meteor Shower
Rank: A :: Spiritual
Description: The user charges their rapier with Chakra, then points it up in to the air and discharges it, sending a beam of light high in to the sky. After one whole post, the light returns to the ground in shards. These shards rain down around the user for 7 meters in any direction, impaling everything that they come in contact with.

Rage of the Exploding Star
Rank: A :: Complex
Description: The user rushes the enemy with a charged rapier, and then once they are close enough they quickly thrust the rapier forward, causing an explosion of Chakra upon impact. The explosion manifests itself as smoke and has a range of 6 meters, damaging everything but the user that is caught in it and applying the effects of any element the blade was charged with.

Second Falling Star
Rank: A :: Complex
Description: The user will charge their legs with Chakra and launch themselves in to the air and charge their rapier as they fall. Then as they fall they will thrust their rapier many times in to the air, sending a barrage of spears of light hurdling towards the ground at frightening speeds. These spears look like the after image of other techniques but are actually discharges of Chakra off the blade and are more than solid. Launches two spears per rank. Spears can only fly four meters before disappearing.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
One Thousand Furious Flying Stars
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: The user thrusts in to the air after charging up their weapon for 1 post (no other techniques used), and instead of launching spears of light, the spears of light float in the air as the user thrusts. Once the user has exactly a thousand floating spears of light, they slash in an arc with their weapon, sending the shards flying towards the opponent. Once these shards make contact, they explode in to huge Chakra explosions that have a diameter of 5 meters each, and the spears can fly for 15 meters. The effect of these explosions depend on what type of Chakra is being used in the attack. Consumes three activations (a full post’s worth).

One Thousand Furious Falling Stars
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The user charges up their weapon and their entire body for an entirety of [3] posts, not using any other techniques. Once the charging is complete, the user launches themselves high in to the air, and then begins thrusting thousands upon thousands of times in to the air, sending huge spears of light hurdling to the ground below. The spears are bright enough that viewing them with the naked eye causes 2 posts of temporary blindness. The targeted area can be anywhere in a 25 meter radius around the user, and each spear is each treated as a full rank higher in speed.

Kishitou Yoroi
Knight's Blade, the Armor
User Image

___Description:
___Armor is frowned upon by the Shinobi world. There are certainly those Shinobi who still wear armors, but these defenses are typically light, since stealth plays a great role in many of the missions that they run. Outside of the samurai traditions, any sort of medium or heavy armor is frowned upon or ignored completely, since it's unwieldy, loud, does a poor job of protecting against Ninjutsu, and a questionable job of protecting against a skilled weapons user. Put quite frankly, the widespread sentiment at the time of this Style's founding was that armor had no place on a Shinobi.
___The founders of the Kishitou Yoroi [ Knight's Blade, the Armor ] school took exception to this train of thought, arguing that Shinobi were just too weak and foolhardy to learn how to use armor properly. Over the course of a decade, they honed their arts in secret, searching for the most effective way to cover the flaws in their armors. The school has since opened to the public, boasting that the masters of its teachings would never know harm. Time will tell how truthful this statement is.
___Relevant Training: Any armors, Hard Physical.

___Notes:
• All Simple techniques in this Style are treated as Spiritual when interacting with other techniques.
• This Style can be learned as either Bukijutsu or Taijutsu.
• For interacting with physical techniques, light armor is treated as granting C-Rank defense, medium armor B-Rank defense, and heavy armor A-Rank defense.
• While wearing armor, the user is capable of using all Taijutsu techniques they know as normal. However, any techniques involving or related to the Soft Physical Formless Style have their effects reduced by one rank if the user is wearing medium armor or two ranks if the user is wearing heavy armor.
• Gains a slight increase to Fortitude with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Junka [ Acclimation ]
Rank: E :: Training
Description: The user acclimates to moving in their armor by wearing it during normal daily activities. After completing this training, the user can move in any armor as though it were properly fitted for them personally. This provides one descriptive rank in strength and fortitude to techniques using the armor per stage learned in this Style.

Gamankurabe [ Endurance Contest ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A very basic endurance technique. When faced with an incoming physical attack, the user plants their feet and leans in to the attack. Incoming complex techniques are treated as simple when interacting with this technique. Gains a mild bonus to fortitude per rank.

Tokkumukoto [ Tackling ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user lowers their head and tackles the opponent, causing damage and upsetting the opponent's balance. Gains a slight bonus to strength and fortitude per rank.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Kabe [ Wall ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user brings their arms up to cover their face and upper torso. Any physical attack that lands on this defense loses all descriptive rank increases and is treated as simple.

Touha [ Crushing Underfoot ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A powerful stomp that takes advantage of the defensive properties of the user's armor. Gains a mild bonus to strength per rank if the user is wearing medium armor or a moderate bonus per rank if the user is wearing heavy armor. The user can gain the bonus of wearing heavier armor, but in return their leg takes half the damage caused.

Kabuto Washitsukami [ Beetle Grabbing Hold ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A grab that was designed after observing beetles. The user swings their arms at the opponent in a pincer motion, intending to strike and immediately grab. After taking damage from this technique, the opponent is considered grappled and must break the user's grip to escape. The user's grip is considered to be the rank of this technique for the first post, plus one rank if the user is wearing medium armor or two ranks if the user is wearing heavy armor. The user can maintain this technique to continue grappling the opponent, but loses any bonuses due to armor after the first post.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Tenshin [ Shifting Position ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The user practices their art by moving across a shifting surface--such as sand or mud--with their armor. Following the completion of this training, the user becomes significantly harder to topple while armored; all incoming techniques that would move the user are treated as one rank lower in strength when determining of how far the user is moved, and the user can no longer be toppled by techniques lower in rank than their armor.

Tonkachi [ Hammer ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user clenches their fists together and swings them at something. If this technique hits flesh, it causes damage as a technique of one rank lower, but if it meets anything else, it damages as a technique one rank higher.

Rikusentai [ Landing Force ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user jumps high in the air, then comes down hard. Causes damage in a one meter radius per rank around the user. Jump height is one meter per rank.

Keinari [ Promotion to a Knight ]
Rank: X :: Complex :: Stance
Description: The user plants their feet and coats the bottom of their feet, their hands, and their core muscles in Chakra to better handle incoming blows. Physical defensive techniques count as armor techniques from this style while in this stance. Increases the limit for Fortitude descriptive increases slightly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Akuto [ Heel ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges the armor around their foot with Chakra, then plants the heel of their foot in whatever they want. This technique damages as a simple technique, but disperses any techniques lower than its rank that it comes into contact with.

Tsunokabuto [ Spiked Helmet ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: The user exerts themselves and covers their armor in spikes made of Chakra. Any incoming Taijutsu attacks that strike the armor cause the attacker to take damage at this technique's rank. Additionally, Ninjutsu attacks damage the spikes as if the spikes were a defensive technique a rank lower, and do not harm the user at all unless the spikes are destroyed. Lasts for one post per rank.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Anaume [ Filling Gaps ]
Rank: A :: Spiritual
Description: The user lets their Chakra seep into the cracks in their armor, bolstering its defensive properties but making it more difficult to move in. For the duration of this technique, the armor is treated as one class higher (e.g. light is treated is medium, medium as heavy), simple physical attacks lose any descriptive bonuses against this technique, and complex techniques are treated as simple. Lasts for five posts.

Kakuheki [ Barrier Wall ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user brings their limbs in to form a perfect guard, adding a buffer of Chakra in front of themselves to reinforce their defenses. Any incoming techniques are deflected around the user's armor, leaving a cone behind them that is unaffected by the technique at all. Can protect against Ninjutsu. Gains a mild fortitude bonus per rank against simple and complex techniques.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Kishitou [ Knight's Blade ]
Rank: S :: Training
Description: The user studies and acquaints themselves with the many different types of defensive armaments, from shields to armor to defensive items like the forehead protectors that Shinobi Villages use. In the process, they become able to apply any armor techniques to protective armaments and vice-versa.

Ooyure [ Turbulence ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The user stomps the ground, exerting Chakra as they do so. The stomp cracks the ground in a five meter radius, and moments later the user's Chakra starts to disperse upward from the cracks. For the duration of this technique, techniques that would bypass the user's armor (i.e. sound, gas, etc.) instead have no effect on the user as long as they remain in this area. Lasts for six posts.

Kishi no Yoroi [ Knight’s Armor ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user plants their feet and raises their guard, becoming a stalwart barrier against all attacks. Increases the limit for Fortitude descriptive increases slightly per rank. This stance can be exited by using an activation to move between an ally and an incoming attack. For 1 post after this stance is left, the limit for Strength descriptive increases is increased slightly per this technique’s rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Ja no Muchi
Snake Whip
User Image

___Description:
___A method of discipline known for its brutality and speed, the Ja no Muchi [ Snake Whip ] school finds its origins in the oppressive wardens of a prison in the Grass Country. Using the long reach of the whip, they would lash out from watchtowers at any prisoner who showed even the barest hints of defiance. The pain inflicted by their whips was like poison, spreading through the body and making the blood run cold. Eventually the practice was banned, but the formalized teachings remained in hidden documents, documents recently uncovered by an enterprising Grass soldier who leaked them to the world to showcase the old crimes of his country. Anyone who is to walk down the same path should do so knowing the bloody history of these techniques.
___Relevant Training: Whips.
___Notes:
• Grants a Slight Increase to reflex for every other stage mastered starting at the first stage. Additionally, gives a slight increase to strength for every other stage mastered starting at two. (Reflex is granted at stages 1/3/5. Strength is granted at stages 2/4/6.)

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Shimeagerukoto [ Constriction ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user lashes out with the whip, but does not crack it. Upon coming into contact with something, the whip wraps around it as much as possible and holds it. The strength of this technique determines the force required to break free.

Putsun [ Snap ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A defensive maneuver executed at close range. When being attacked, the user grabs their whip at two points and throws a loop around the attacking limb or weapon, then snaps the loop shut to grab it with great force. Can break bones and poorly constructed weapons.

Nishikihebi [ Python ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user wraps their whip around their arm, often with some slack to facilitate releasing it later. Defensive techniques executed with that arm are treated as complex. Using an attacking technique from this style will cause the whip to unfurl, granting it a slight increase to Strength for the rest of the post. Consumes an activation to assume the stance, but leaving it by activating an attack from this style does not consume any activations. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Soshaku [ Bite ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: When something is wrapped by the whip, the user yanks back with great force. Typically used for disarming purposes at a long distance, this technique is treated as a rank higher when attempting to disarm an opponent.

Kamitsuke [ Snap ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user lashes out, cracking the whip as they do so. Should the tip of the whip hit something fully, it causes bludgeoning damage to the target with an effected area 10 centimeters across. Should the tip of the whip graze something, it causes cutting damage. Gains a mild bonus to speed per rank.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Muchiutsukoto [ Lashing ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user snaps their whip at an opponent underhand, sending the tip on a line running straight between the user and the opponent. If the tip strikes the opponent, it does severe bludgeoning damage to the area struck and knocks the target back half a meter per rank.

Orochi [ Large Snake ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user snaps their whip hard, bringing it down with enough force to shatter the ground. Gains a moderate strength boost per rank against armor and anything immobile.

Chouda [ Long Snake ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user lashes out at an opponent with the whip and runs Chakra along its length. Should the whip come within half a meter of the target, the Chakra will pull it toward the enemy and cause it to coil around them. This technique holds the opponent for one post per rank, or until the opponent breaks free using a technique at this technique's rank or higher.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Hebitsukai [ Snake Charmer ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user raises their arm overhead and begins to spin their whip so the tip makes circles around their position. So long as the user maintains this technique, no one may come within three meters of the user without being struck by the whip and taking damage at this technique's rank.

Shaa [ Hiss ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user snaps the whip as loudly as they can, intending to make any enemies flinch. Anyone who can hear the snap (excluding the user) with a body rank lower than this technique's rank loses two posts of concentration toward the Mental Formless Styles and any techniques they are maintaining lose one rank in strength for one post. An opponent who is struck directly cannot gain posts toward the Mental Formless Styles for three posts afterward and cannot activate any techniques that require concentration for the same amount of time. Has a two post cooldown. Effects do not stack, so until the effects of one strike end, any further uses of this technique are treated as simple attacks.

Toguro [ Coil ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user flicks their wrist, causing the whip to spin radially outward in the direction of the movement. Damages as a technique one rank lower, but knocks back any person struck one meter per rank. Can be used around the user instead of away from them.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Shinja [ Sacred Snake ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user flicks their wrist, causing the whip to spiral outward, then snaps it at an opponent. This maneuver can be used to disperse any large Ninjutsu at or below the technique's rank that get caught in the spiral. Any damage caused is at a rank lower than this technique's rank.

Jadoku [ Snake Venom ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges the tip of their whip with Chakra. Should it come into contact with an opponent, the Chakra will disperse, causing a severe pain all throughout the target's body. Pain is considered two ranks higher when dispersing Genjutsu, but lingers for three posts regardless or until dispersed by an exertion of Chakra or Stamina at this technique's rank.

Momeke [ Shed Skin ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: When the business end of the whip lies beyond an opponent, the user snaps it back forcefully. The tip comes speeding back toward the opponent, but should it miss, the user can then immediately snap it back around to strike again. In the latter case, the follow-up strike gains a mild bonus to strength and speed per rank.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Dokuja [ Venomous Snake ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The user lets the business end of their whip fall to the ground at their feet, but subtly charges it with Chakra. For six posts, the whip lashes out at anyone who moves within two meters of the user up to two times per post, inflicting an A-Rank amount of damage per strike and causing a debilitating amount of pain to rush through their body. Those struck by the whip in this manner lose any maintained techniques below A-Rank.

Orochigami [ Great Snake God ]
Rank: S+ :: Spiritual
Description: The user exerts a surge of Chakra and uses it to form duplicates of their whip, all branching off of the main whip's handle. Creates seven whips, each of which gets one activation per post. Lasts for eight posts. Any techniques used with the duplicate whips drain the user as normal.

Karamitsukuno [ Coiling Around ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The user raises their whip hand into the air above their head and, with gentle, rhythmic swaying, sets it swinging about themselves. After a moment, they stiffen their arm to tighten the radius of the motion. Increases the limit for Fortitude and Speed descriptive increases slightly per rank. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Suzu no Tsue
Staff of Tin
User Image

___Description:
___The Shakujou has a long, rich history as both a weapon and a tool for religious ceremony, but in recent years its use in the former category has dwindled due to the rise of using Shinobi and Samurai as bodyguards. Recently, a strange new foe arose that the military powers were not expecting: the monsters that seemed to crop up out of nowhere. Traditionally, the Shakujou has been used to great effect when dealing with evil spirits of all types, and it would seem that many of the teachings regarding that old tool are just as effective against other beasts. Thus, the Shakujou returns to the Shinobi world as a weapon once more, with temples opening their doors to teach those who are willing to learn the arts.
___Relevant Training: Shakujou.

___Notes:
• This Style can be learned by those who have devoted themselves to a faith, even if they are not otherwise capable of learning a Taijutsu or Bukijutsu Style. In this case, the techniques from this Style can be learned as Formless Techniques from any religious center, shrine, etc. Not all techniques must be learned in a Stage to progress to the next one this way, but at least one technique from a Stage must be learned before learning one from a higher Stage. (Ex. To learn something in Stage Three, you need to have learned at least one thing from both Stage One and Stage Two.) To gain this benefit, one must have completed at least 20 missions for a religion.
• For every 10 religious missions above the minimum completed, each Formless Slot can contain one more technique from this Style. (2 techniques per Formless Slot at 30 missions, 3 at 40, 4 at 50, etc.)
• The Shakujou is a traditional priest's staff with a metal loop or ornament on one end, typically with several hoops hanging from that loop or ornament. Typically there are four or six hoops on a Shakujou, but the most that this Style can handle is a twelve-hooped Shakujou. Only four hoops may be utilized to start out, with an additional usable hoop gained every five religious missions performed above 20. It is helpful to list the number of religious missions completed on the profile.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Bachi [ Divine Punishment ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The primary stance for offensive practitioners of this Style. The user stands with their non-dominant foot forward and the ring end of the Shakujou up by their head, with the other end pointed along a line running parallel to their forward leg. While in this stance, any simple techniques employing the Shakujou up to this technique’s rank are treated as complex when interacting with other techniques. The upkeep cost for this stance is paid once every two posts.

Oharai [ Exorcism ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A technique derived from the practices of many an exorcist. The user swings the looped end of the Shakujou toward an opponent. Upon colliding with the target or otherwise stopping suddenly, the metal rings clang together, causing an enormous racket. The clanging scares creatures with threat ratings at its rank or lower and people at two body ranks below its rank or lower.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Byakko [ White Tiger of the West ]
Rank: D :: Training
Description: The user practices walking as gently as possible, so as not to jeopardize even the smallest life unnecessarily. Following the completion of this training, the user gains the ability to walk without leaving a noticeable physical trail and spot trails left by others at or below the user's body rank.

Teni [ Providence ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user raises the Shakujou, then brings the looped end down hard. A target struck by this suffers temporary deafness for one post per rank. Each of the metal rings also strike the target, causing damage at two ranks lower.

Yorishiro [ Holy Effigy ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user slams the unadorned end of the Shakujou into a target, embedding it therein. Removing the Shakujou forcibly requires a technique of a rank higher than this one. If used to anchor defensive techniques, this technique confers a full rank boost to the fortitude of those defensive techniques.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Kamiwaza [ Divine Work ]
Rank: X :: Complex :: Stance
Description: The primary stance for defensive practitioners of this Style. The user stands straight with the ringed end of the Shakujou on the non-dominant side of their head, with the other end pointed toward the ground on the opposite side of the user's body. The rings on the head of the Shakujou are charged with Chakra, allowing them to catch even the slightest change in the breeze. While in this stance, the user gains passive awareness of the position of all non-living objects within two meters of their person and gains a slight bonus to Reflex per rank when responding to attacks made from outside that range. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Kamigakari [ Fanatic ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: When faced with an incoming physical attack, the user swings the looped end of the Shakujou toward the attack. The user can choose to either catch the weapon being used (be it a sword, fist, etc.) or strike it from the side. This technique's rank must be at least the rank of the incoming attack to successfully defend. If used to strike, the metal rings each strike as well, causing damage at two ranks lower.

Genbu [ Black Turtle of the North ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: The user forms a wall of Chakra around the Shakujou that redirects physical and Ninjutsu attacks at or below its rank around itself, creating a safe zone behind the Shakujou. Can be maintained. Created shield is three meters across, regardless of rank. Attacks launched by monsters and strange beasts lose a mild descriptive in every aspect when interacting with this shield.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Shakujou no Hansei [ Reflection on the Shakujou ]
Rank: B :: Training
Description: The user meditates on the usage of the Shakujou and its role in combating the creatures and monsters of the world. After this training is complete, the user is treated as one body rank higher when interacting nonviolently with monsters and strange creatures, and gains 50% more AC and Ryou from any missions involving them.

Shu no Tsubasa [ Vermillion Wing ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user points the ringed end of the Shakujou at an incoming technique, then spins their weapon along its length so that the metal rings splay outward. Any Chakra in the incoming technique, up to this technique's rank, is dispersed through the metal rings harmlessly.

Suzaku [ Vermillion Bird of the South ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: When faced with an incoming projectile Ninjutsu attack, the user spins their Shakujou to create a wall between themselves and the attack. The Chakra from any part of the attack that hits the Shakujou is drained and stored in the rings. This Chakra can then be launched back at a target or used to either Charge the Shakujou with an element or reinforce it (in the case of Maruton Chakra). Can only store up to one rank of Chakra per hoop on the Shakujou.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Yakuyoke [ Warding off Evil ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A method of walking that utilizes the jangling of the rings to scare off potential predators. Monsters and strange creatures with a threat rating at or below this technique's rank flee from the user's path while they are walking, and those with a lower rank are completely cowed and cannot attack the user at all. Lasts for one post per rank and ends whenever the user stops walking or uses the Shakujou in combat.

Bajakenshou [ Warding Evil, Spreading Truth ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges the hoops on the end of their Shakujou with Chakra, then slams the other end into the ground, causing the hoops to clang together with great force. The Chakra is dispersed with the clanging, disrupting sound-based techniques in the area below this technique's rank and disrupting abnormal modes of sensing by characters, monsters, or strange creatures below this technique's rank.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Seiryuu [ Azure Dragon of the East ]
Rank: S :: Complex :: Stance
Description: The ultimate stance in the Style. The user, from a normal standing position, holds the Shakujou vertically in front of them on their dominant side. While in this stance, the user can choose to pay only the Stamina or Chakra portions of complex techniques involving the Shakujou. Additionally, all techniques using the Shakujou are treated as two ranks higher against monsters and other strange creatures. After initially entering this stance, the user does not have to start paying upkeep costs for one post per twenty religious missions completed. After that, upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Kenshou [ Revealing the Truth ]
Rank: X :: Spiritual
Description: The user plants their feet and disperses Chakra through the ringed end of the Shakujou. Any monsters or strange creatures with a threat rating at or below this technique's rank lose any damage resistances and immunities they have so long as the user maintains this technique. Affects all monsters and strange creatures within twenty meters of the user, and continues to affect them even if they leave this radius or entered it after the technique started. Upkeep cost is half this technique's cost, or quarter if the damage resistances and immunities of the affected are known. For all purposes, creatures and monsters with a threat level higher than S-Rank are treated as having an S+Rank threat level while this technique is active.

Kunst des Fechtens
The Art of Longsword Fencing
User Image

___Description:
___All arts have length and measure. Whatever you undertake, use deliberation. In earnest or in play, be of good cheer and vitality, so you may be attentive and with good courage ponder what action you should take, so that none may touch you, since good courage and strength make your enemies hesitate. Keep in mind to give no-one any advantage.
___The Kunst des Fechtens style was born of the writings of one man, Johannes Lichtenauer, far outside of the Shinobi Nations. While expanded upon by several generations of warrior-scholars, often known as Knights, the style holds itself to Eight core tenents or Principles. Unlike many other styles, Kunst des Fechtens focuses not only on swordplay, but on wrestling when in close range combat, as taking down armored opponents is not easily achieved with traditional slashing weapons.
___Relevant Training: Hard Physical, Medium Weapon: Longsword/Bastardsword (Requires European Style Crossguards), Large Weapon: Greatsword/Warsword (Requires European Style Crossguards)

___Notes:
• All Longsword Techniques in this Style Require a Two-Handed Grip on the Sword, until {Mastery Technique} is learned.
• Knightly Armaments: Kunst de Fechens, Kishitou Yoroi, Mori no Ichigeki, and Madoukishi each confer a +1 Reduction to the others, cumulatively, if the Practitioner has trained the style to at least Stage Four.
• This Style contains two Special categories: First, Stances
- It costs 5 Stamina, and an activation, to enter a Stance
- Certain Techniques have a Stance Requirement or preference to enter them.
-- Entering Required Stance techniques from any other Stance requires 5 more Stamina per rank of technique.
• Preferred Stance: If a technique is entered from its 'Preferred Stance' (Not required), then it doubles the Stance Bonus for the use of that technique. If it is entered from any other stance, it gains no bonus. (This is reiterated in each technique solely for ease of recall)
• Second Category Transitions:
-Transitions allow a technique to move into one of two stances free of charge.
- Entering an incompatible Stance costs an activation and an additional 5 Chakra (10 Chakra, not 5 to enter).
- Immediately after a technique hits the Transition Stage, within the same post, the follow up Stance must be declared. Failure to do so makes the user exit stances, and a new stance must be reapplied.
• Stances of this technique only give their bonuses while in that stance, or in an appropriate technique derived from that stance.
• Techniques in this style only affect Descriptives from within this style.
- I.E. If using a technique that doubles Speed Bonuses, it only doubles bonuses given from this style, coming from the appropriate stance.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Die Vier Haltungen [ The Four Stances ]

vom Tag ( From the Day/Roof )
Rank: E :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The Standard or Strong Stance, the most powerful blows tend to come from this stance, which is often followed up by the Kron or Hengetort Transitions. The wielder stands with his sword held either on the right shoulder or above the head, at a nearly forty-five degree angle over themselves, in both hands. One hand beneath the Crossguard, the other upon the base or pommel.
- Entering this stance costs 5 Stamina
- This stance gives Techniques of this style or the Longsword Medium Weapon Formless a Slight Strength increase, per Stage of this Style Learned.
-- To garner this bonus, you have to enter this stance and strike from it. Changing Stances, outside of shifting from Transitions, can only occur once per post.

Kron ( Crown )
Rank: Null :: Transition
Description: Following a strike, the wielder ends with the sword held at head height, with their blade upwards. This technique lends quickly to return to the vom Tag Stance or lowered into the Pflug Stance, with little to no effort.
- Techniques ending in this stance may transition into either the vom Tag Stance or the Pflug stance as part of their next activation, with no stamina cost.
- Entering this stance resets the descriptives of said stance to it's base ( See Stance ), if following a Preferred Stance Technique. ( Descriptive Bonuses End at Transition Phase )

Pflug ( Plough )
Rank: E :: Simple :: Stance
Description: The Plough, the position of Reflex. Positioning the sword to either side of the body, keeping your pommel near your back hip and the point of your blade aimed for the face or chest of your opponent. When this guard is held on the right side of the body, the short edge (Edge that faces your wrist) should face up, while on the left, the short should be faced down.
- Entering this stance costs 5 Stamina
- This stance gives Techniques of this style or the Longsword Medium Weapon Formless a Slight Reflex increase, per Stage of this Style Learned.
-- To garner this bonus, you have to enter this stance and strike from it. Changing Stances, outside of shifting from Transitions, can only occur once per post.

Longort ( Longpoint )
Rank: Null :: Transition
Description: A transitional stance in which the blade is extended, pointed at the opponent. Many strikes transition through to this stage as it is the natural ending point of a thrust. By drawing the blade back towards the sides, one may transition from Longort into Pflug, or by relaxing the arms and lowering the blade, may enter the stance of Alber.
- Techniques ending in this stance may transition into either the Pflug Stance or the Alber stance as part of their next activation, with no stamina cost.
- Entering this stance resets the descriptives of said stance to it's base ( See Stance ), if following a Preferred Stance Technique. ( Descriptive Bonuses End at Transition Phase )

Alber ( Fool )
Rank: E :: Stance
Description: The "Fool's Guard", the fastest of the Guards, Alber, is a stance in which the point of the sword is lowered towards, but not touching the ground. This 'foolishly' exposes one's upper body, while guarding the lower body with ease. From this guard, attacks or parries can be thrown, using the short edge of the sword, or tossing techniques that lead into Hengetort [ The Hanging Point ] transition.
- Entering this stance costs 5 Stamina
- This stance gives Techniques of this style or the Longsword Medium Weapon Formless a Slight Speed increase, per Stage of this Style Learned.
-- To garner this bonus, you have to enter this stance and strike from it. Changing Stances, outside of shifting from Transitions, can only occur once per post.

Hengetort ( Hanging Point )
Rank: Null :: Transition
Description: The Hengetort, or Hanging Point, is a transitional guard that mirrors the Kron, Crown, transition. With the hilt held at head height, the blade is pointed downwards, instead of skywards. With a twisting motion of the wrists and relaxing of the forearms, the blade may easily transition into the Alber Stance, or by tightening the elbows and remaining at head height, this transitions into the Ochs, or Oxen, Stance.
- Techniques ending in this stance may transition into either the Alber Stance or the Ochs stance as part of their next activation, with no stamina cost.
- Entering this stance resets the descriptives of said stance to its base ( See Stance ), if following a Preferred Stance Technique. ( Descriptive Bonuses End at Transition Phase )

Ochs ( Oxen )
Rank: E :: Stance
Description: The Stance of Fortitude, standing in a slight crouch, with the hilt of the blade on either side of the head and their blade pointed towards the opponent's face, as if the horn of an Oxen. This stance is one of the easier stances to recover to, and provides the most stability for defense.
- Entering this stance costs 5 Stamina
- This stance gives Techniques of this style or the Longsword Medium Weapon Formless a Slight Fortitude increase, per Stage of this Style Learned.
-- To garner this bonus, you have to enter this stance and strike from it. Changing Stances, outside of shifting from Transitions, can only occur once per post.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Die Meisterhäue [ The Master-cuts ]

Zornhau [ Wrath Hew ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description:
Requires: vom Tag Stance
A powerful diagonal hewing stroke dealt from the vom Tag guard that ends in the Longtort Transition. This strike is normally thrown to the opponent's upper opening.
Transition: Longtort

Krumphau [ Crooked Hew ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description:
Requires: vom Tag or Ochs Stance
A vertical hew from above that reaches across the direct line to the opponent, traveling left from a right position and vice versa. The user transitions force by pushing or pulling on their pommel to strike downwards from above.
Transition: Hengetort

Zwerchau [ Thwart-Hew ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description:
Requires: Ochs
A high horizontal hew, with the 'short' (backhand) edge when thrown from the right side and with the 'long' edge when thrown from the left side. If blocked with an oncoming Bukijutsu technique, the user may use a second Zwerchau in response, without consuming an activation.
Transition: None; Ends in Opposite side Ochs.

Schielhau [ Squinting Hew ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description:
Requires: vom Tag
A short edge (backand) hew dealt from the vom Tag guard that ends in an upper hanger on the opposite side and usually targets the head or the right shoulder. As the user strikes out, offensively, they twist the blade to either bind their opponents or to deliver a backhand blow to the shoulders of their opponent. If used defensively, the blow strikes the opponent's weapon and drives it downwards.
Transition:
Offensive: Kron
Defensive Longort

Scheitelhau [ Part-Hew ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description:
Requires: vom Tag
A vertical descending hew that ends in the transitional Longort. This hew is dealt to the opponent's upper openings, most often to the opponent's head. The draw of the technique is that depending on the choice of follow through, it lends to the motions of Pflug or a high Alber. Attacks ending high return to a raised Alber, while low attacks tend to curve the body back into the Pflug.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Die Ersten Lehren [ The First Teachings ]
• Techniques of this stage, unless otherwise written, may be entered from any Stance, but gain a bonus if entered from a Preferred Stance.

Winden [ Winding ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: vom Tag
Shifting your stance so that the base of your blade is against the last quarter of your opponents blade, you bring your point to bear facing into your opponents openings. If entered from vom Tag Stance, the strength descriptives from that stance are doubled in regards to this counter.
Transition: Longort

Nachreisen [ After-traveling ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Alber
Taking advantage of your opponent's speed or perhaps after they missed an assault, you press in on your opponent. When your opponent is preparing or recovering from an assault, you travel your blade into the opening as an interrupt. If entered from Alber, you double the Speed bonus of that stance for this assault.
- This technique is considered an Interrupt, in that your opponent must react to this technique, refunding any chakra or stamina to your opponent from techniques that may have followed the interrupted.
- Your opponent gains an amount of activations equal to the remainder of the interrupted post in their next action.
- You cannot interrupt techniques that are defending against techniques of your last post.
Transition: Hengeort

Händedrücken [ Pressing of Hands ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Pflug
Thrusting your sword to bind an opponents, you make a quick thrust and pull motion while riding the opponent's sword on your crossguard. If your opponent is unable to separate themselves from your binding and defend or withdraw, your assault may very well lead to injuries upon your opponents wrists, causing them to attack slower. If you enter this technique from Pflug it doubles the reflex bonus of that stance in this counter.
- A successful strike with this technique results in the Reflex Descriptives of your opponent to be halved.
-- This injury must be treated with an equivalent ranked medical technique.
- Leather or non-metallic gauntlets, cestus, or wrist guards reduces reflex damage one-quarter damage instead, and can be healed for half cost.
- Wearing Metal Gauntlets, Cestus, or wrist guards prevents the reflex damage.
Transition: Longort

Überlaufen [Overrunning ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Ochs
In response to a strike coming from below the guard of your blade, you strike downwards and make a retreating step, while relying on your superior reach to deflect the enemy strike downwards and without a proper grip may disarm the opponent. This technique treats any physical technique aimed at the lower body as one rank lower. Entering this strike from the Ochs Stance doubles the descriptives of that stance for this attack.
- If the opponents technique is 2 or more effective ranks beneath this attack, it counts as a disarming technique, forcing the opponents weapon to the ground.
- Against Simple Taijutsu techniques the effect changes to a stagger, resulting in a loss of one activation in their next round.
- An opponent who would be disarmed may sacrifice an activation to retain grip of their weapon, or else spend an activation to retrieve it from the threatened range.
Transition: Hengetort

Duplieren [ Doubling ]
Rank: X (Cost of technique Doubled) :: Supplementary
Description:
Preferred Stance: None
When forced outside of a technique, you immediately reapply the technique with more force. By re-applying the technique you force your blade back into the assault, you use your skill and surprise to force the enemy into the defensive.
- This technique is considered a counter-counter. It can only be applied to the last technique of your last post, and acts as an interrupt by increasing the rank of the technique by one.
- If the Opponent's guard technique was a Rank higher than your own, then the techniques are considered neutralizing. If your opponent matched your last technique, they must now respond to the increased rank with a new defense.
Transition: Same as Doubled technique.

Hängen [ Hanging ]
Rank: Null :: Stance
Description: A non-traditional stance, used more often as a Guard during combat. The user may enter this stance at the cost of an activation from either Hengetort or Kron Transitions and follow up with techniques that require either vom Tag or Ochs stances without repercussion, but the technique will garner no descriptive bonuses from the descriptives of either stance.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Kampfringen [ Grappling ]
• Techniques in this Stage may be entered from any stance.
• Techniques beginning AFTER the Initial Grapple technique do not gain Stance bonuses.

Schieben Sie den Vorteil [ To Push the Advantage ]
Rank: Null ( Learned as B ) :: Supplementary
Description: The best knowledge of grappling is the knowledge of pressing the advantage. In learning this fundamental truth, you learn to act and seize upon simple grapples and binds. Not in a multitude of actions, but in a single action enacted as soon as you have bound your opponent.
- If you counter a technique that leads into a successful Grapple ( Counter/Grapple of 2 effective Ranks higher than the countered action ) you may sacrifice an Activation to confirm your grapple, and act with a single technique following that.
-- An opponent in a confirmed grapple, must first react to the follow up technique, before they can address breaking the grapple.
-- If a follow up technique states that it releases the grapple, or is a technique that does continue a grapple, they do not have to pay to break the grapple.

Griefen und Binden [ To Grip and Bind ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: Meeting your opponent's blade with the strong [ base ] of your own and forcing their blade to bind with yours upon the guard, you step in and grapple with your opponent, seeking to entangle their arm or to grip their armor. Contact with this technique forces your opponent to struggle to free their blade. If the technique is two effective ranks above that of your opponent, they are considered grappled.
- To break a grapple the opponent must pay the next highest rank in Stamina to break free.

Festzunageln [ To Pin ]
Rank: X :: Complex ( Grapple )
Description: In grappling the best result you can achieve, is to take your enemy to ground or force them into a corner and pin them. When in a confirmed Grapple, you exert your force to throw an enemy to the ground or to force them into a corner, gaining greater advantage over them in the grapple. This technique increases the requirement of breaking from from a grapple by one more rank, however, any Bukijutsu or Sword Based Techniques launched from this position incur a loss of one rank.
- Grapple Break Cost increases by One Rank, but you lose one rank to any Bukijutsu or Sword Based technique, excluding Grapple based techniques.
- I.E. After a successful Grapple and Pin the opponent must pay a total of +2 Ranks to break free.
- This technique cannot be stacked beyond a +2 Rank to escape, and is not compatible with any grapples of the Olympia or Jing Shen Jie Fang Grapples.

Werfen [ To Toss ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: When grappling or when grappled, the user makes a sweep of the leg to break the balance of their opponent, before attempting to overpower them and toss them aside. This technique is entirely based on creating distance between you and your opponent, and breaks any grapple you have maintained.
- Technique tosses an opponent 2 meters per Rank if they are wearing medium or lighter armor. 1 meter per rank if wearing Heavy Armor.
- Opponents tossed cannot be re-grappled in the same post.
- Tossing an opponent who is grappling, but has not pinned, requires the technique to be one effective rank higher than the initial grapple.

Entwaffnen [ To Disarm ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: Thrusting to meet your opponent's assault, you attempt to disarm your opponent and force them into a grapple. Alternatively, you may attempt to disarm an already grappled opponent, to end any immediate threat to your own life. By overpowering your opponent by a single rank in this counter, you may disarm them of their currently held weapon. By meeting their assault by Two ranks difference, you may discard their weapon and attempt to maintain a grapple upon them. However, weapons already within the grapple are much harder to remove.
- By using this technique as a counter and defeating your opponents technique by one rank, you may force them to discard their weapon.
-- The Opponent may sacrifice an Activation to maintain their grip.
- Defeating the technique by two effective ranks enters a confirmed grapple.
-- If your opponent chooses to sacrifice an activation, they may maintain their weapon into the grapple.
- Disarming DURING a grapple is much harder, and the opponent's attempt to defend versus being disarmed count as being 1 Ranks higher since the weapon is in a somewhat locked position already.

Brechen [ To Break ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Requirement: This technique must be trained as the last technique of Stage Four ( All techniques of Stage Four must be learned, not just three )
Description: In learning how to grapple, how to pin, how to lead into grapples, and how people react while within a grapple, you are able to break Grapple Techniques at Cost instead of at the heightened requirements. If under the effect of multiple Grapple or Pin Techniques, you are only required to pay the highest to break free of them all.

Also, when grappled, you may break the grapple prior to follow up assaults, but defenses versus follow up assaults are considered to be one rank lower, because you have placed yourself into a compromising position to break free.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Die fortgeschrittenen Lehren [ The Advanced Teachings ]

Durchlauffen [ Running Through ]:
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: vom Tag
Meeting your opponent's strike with one of your own, you charge forward, using the leverage of your blade to keep theirs from threatening you as you deliver a shoulder check into their abdomen. Contact with this technique is a knockback effect, with the range of knockback being 1 meter per Rank of the technique ( Paid Rank, not effective ), and if the technique is delivered at 2 effective ranks higher than the incoming technique, it acts as a knockdown, but not a pin or a grapple. Opponents 1 or more Body Ranks beneath the user are knocked onto the flat of their back. Entering this strike from vom Tag stance doubles the descriptives of that Stance for this strike.
Transition: Ends in Pflug Stance.

Durchwechseln [ Changing Through ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Pflug
Matching strikes with your opponent, to meet their assault at an even footing [ even effective rank ], and bind your blades at the strong [base]. From such a locked position, the wielder shifts the point and weight of their blade, driving it forward as a piercing strike for the opponent's lower body before returning back with their blade in a hanging guard. This secondary strike counts as one rank lower than the initial strike's effective rank, and gains no further bonuses from descriptives. Both parts of this strike are considered Simple, excluding bonuses from Disciplines. Entering this strike from the Pflug Stance doubles the Reflex Bonuses of that stance for this strike.
- i.e. X strikes at Y with a Simple A-ranked attack. Y responds with a C-ranked attack, but his descriptive modifiers make this effectively an A-ranked technique. The following stab is measured as a B-ranked assault, with no further modifiers.
Transition: Hengetort

Absetzen [ Off-Setting ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Alber
In attempt to break your opponent's striking or cutting pattern, you thrust your blade through their assault. In countering their attack, you muster up and thrust quite quicker, but with the same dedication. This technique must be used at rank (before descriptives) with the assault of your opponents [ effective strike ] in order to effectively defend yourself while still pushing your assault through. Entering this strike from Alber doubles the Speed Bonuses of that stance for this strike.
Transition: Longort

Versetzen [ Displacement ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description:
Preferred Stance: Ochs
Taking yourself into guard you seize the brief moment of opening in your opponent's assault and drive their weapon back with a well executed press, knowing to avoid a bind you clear your opponent's weapon back, staggering them. A keen eye may also discern incoming ninjutsu or projectile assaults and redirect them with this technique. While you cannot directly reverse the technique, you may send it to any other opponent, as one lower rank, within the vicinity. Entering this technique from the Ochs Stance doubles the Fortitude bonus of that stance for this strike.
- If this technique matches or bypasses an incoming physical (non-ranged) technique, the user of that technique will suffer a stagger (Loss of one activation in their next post)
- If this technique matches or bypasses an incoming ranged or ninjutsu attack, the user may designate a new target for the technique, and it is treated as one rank less in regard to that person.
Transition: Kron

Zucken [ Tugging ]
Rank: A :: Training
Description: A teaching of interactions between blades, traditionally used when two blades end up in a strong bind, the practitioner must learn when to draw their blade to a weaker leverage to disengage and return pressure. This teaching is fundamental in matching versus other techniques in general, mastering this teaching leads to Simple and Complex techniques defeating matching Physical or Formless techniques.

Mutieren [ Mutating ]
Rank: A :: Training
Description: Often in combat, one finds new styles of swordplay or new returns to classic teachings. In this we must often trade and exchange blows like those we have had taken against us. Understanding this technique, as well as having a mastery of other styles, allows the practitioner to learn a single technique of another school and apply it to their own general practices.
- In learning this technique, you may learn a single technique of another 'sword' based style, either that you know or are taught by one who does, and add it into your repetoir.
- Relearning that technique as a Technique of this style allows it to interact and receive benefits of the Stances in this style. It is treated as a standard technique, and thus does not receive the Preferred Stance bonuses.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Harnischfechten [ Armored Combat ]

Halbschwert [ Half Swording ]
Rank: S :: Simple :: Stance
Description: To fight an enemy clad in plate, one cannot hope to slash through the formed steel and maille worn beneath. Thus was the methodology of the Half-Sword devised. To grasp the blade in varying stances allowed a fighter to present more precise strikes and parries versus an enemy armor-clad. Half-swording techniques treat armor defenses, including armor techniques, as being of two ranks lower.
- Techniques utilizing armor for defense or assault are considered as two ranks lower versus techniques launched from the Halbschwert Stance.
- Stated Defense Values of Armor and Armor techniques are lowered by two Ranks versus techniques launched from the Halbschwert Stance.

Eindringen [ To Penetrate ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The foot is the basis of any and all swordplay and wrestling maneuvers. To disable the foot is to rend your opponent immobile, and thus easier to obliterate. From any stance or from within a grapple, the user thrusts the blade into the feet of his opponent. If the opponent is unable to ward off this assault, then they loose any and all Speed Descriptives they would gain, until such a time as their injuries are tended to.
- The effect of this technique requires use of an A-ranked Healing Jutsu or an S-ranked Medical Job to correct.
- This technique renders all Speed bonuses, both Applied and Technique Based, unusable until it is corrected.

Zerstören [ To Destroy ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: To rend your foe unable to fight, you must take away his strength. The shoulder prefaces the arm in the basis of strength, strike true and rend maille, pierce it thus, that your opponent may not raise sword against you. From within any stance, or within a grapple the user pressed with hand to pommel, in an endeavor to pierce the shoulder of their opponent. Should the opponent be unable to prevent this strike, they will find their Strength severely limited, losing any and all Strength Bonuses until such a wound is healed.
- The effect of this technique requires use of an A-ranked Healing Jutsu or an S-ranked Medical Job to correct.
- This technique renders all Strength bonuses, both Applied and Technique Based, unusable until it is corrected.

Mordhau [ Murder Strike ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description:
Required Stance: Halbschwert
Of your sword, the blade is not your only weapon. To transition to the Mordhau, both hands upon the blade, and swing the pommel and guard as though a warhammer. Such a blow can rend and concuss, not only those in armor, but those without. Such a powerful blow rends the opponent's reflexes, with the ringing in their head and the blurred vision, one cannot react in such a manner as a clear-headed combatant. A successful strike denies the opponent their clearer mind, and removes any and all Reflex bonuses they have until they are tended to, properly.
- The effect of this technique requires use of an A-ranked Healing Jutsu or an S-ranked Medical Job to correct.
- This technique renders all Reflexes bonuses, both Applied and Technique Based, unusable until it is corrected.

Entkräften [ to Enfeeble ]
Rank: S :: Complex
Description: The breast, the gut, the spine, to hew any of these vital points robs your opponent of his vitality and Fortitude. To do such to a man is to invalidate him on the field of battle, and places him in a position whereupon he must retreat, lest his life be forsaken. To wrench the gut of a man in armor is hard, but in our methods we teach, to pierce where armor is weak or non-existent and wrench the blade. For man unarmored, to parry is their only hope. This strike, delivered to the gut or sides of the opponent, is delivered in such a way that it robs them of their Fortitude, denying them any Fortitude bonus until their wounds are tended to.
- The effect of this technique requires use of an A-ranked Healing Jutsu or an S-ranked Medical Job to correct.
- This technique renders all Fortitude bonuses, both Applied and Technique Based, unusable until it is corrected.

Meisterschaft [ Mastery ]
Rank: S :: Training
Description: Achieving this level of technical mastery allows the wielder of the longsword to wield his blade in one hand, and to make his strike in conjunction with an offhand item, but when wielding in a single hand, Preferred Stance bonuses are not applied. This mastery also grants a passive +50 Chakra for each physical style Mastered (This bonus chakra does not stack with any other Per Mastery Chakra increases.

Hitsuki no Yaiba
Blades of the Sun and Moon
User Image

___Description:
___Sometimes strange weapons are born out of necessity or creativity. Several decades ago, this occurred with a set of weapons known as the Sun-Moon Tooth Sabers, which were two separate sets of semicircular blades held with a handle at the center of their straight, blunt backside. Each one is typically about half a meter across, making them difficult to conceal due to their size, even without their odd shape. The Moon Tooth Sabers were two halves of a smooth circular blade, whereas the Sun Tooth Sabers had long teeth along their edge.
___The Hitsuki no Yaiba school utilizes these blades to great effect. Founded in the snowy lands to the north of Kumogakure, practitioners are traditionally taught to endure the cold and strike so as to cut through the storms. The Moon Tooth Sabers were used to part the winds, while the Sun Tooth Sabers were used to strike at the clouds above, trying to bring day to the frigid snowfields through the perpetual snow. While the two sets of sabers are compatible in combat, they are rarely carried together, as most practitioners prefer to use two of one kind of saber.
___Relevant Training: Sun-Moon Tooth Sabers

___Notes:
• Certain techniques in this Style act differently based on which type of saber is used. For techniques that have a duration, only one type of saber is affected for the technique's duration.
• While it can be used with one Sun- or Moon-Tooth Saber, this Style is designed to be used with two sabers. If used with a single saber, techniques in this Style lose any descriptive bonuses and secondary effects, but keep any descriptive detriments.
• Anything applicable solely to one type of saber do not have to be learned if the practitioner exclusively uses the other type.
• Members of the Performer Class gain half of their Ninjutsu or Genjutsu learning reductions (whichever is lower, rounded up) as learning reductions for this Style. Additionally, they may learn the techniques of this Style as Formless techniques.

___S t a g e O n e [ E ]
Ichipandaiko [ Opening Drumbeat ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user grips their blade tightly and thrusts it toward the enemy as though punching. Suffers a slight detriment to strength per rank, but increases the strength of a follow-up saber attack by the same amount.

Hanagata [ Ornament ]
Rank: X :: Simple :: Stance
Description: An "active" stance--or rather, a set of movements--taught to beginners to help them protect themselves, and a stance designed to be visually appealing to onlookers. While striking, the user moves the non-striking saber to cover their weak points. While in this stance, the user's offensive moves also count as defensive. Has an upkeep cost that matches the cost of the most expensive offensive technique used each post. Requires two sabers to be used.

___S t a g e T w o [ D ]
Suigin [ Quicksilver ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: The user hunches down low and pushes forward with their feet, causing them to glide quickly over the ground. The speed of this movement is one rank lower than the user's body rank, while the range is half a meter per rank. Does not consume an activation, but can only be used once per post.

Ginrei [ Silver Bell ]
Rank: X :: Simple
Description: A slash across the body with one or both sabers, starting on the opposite side of the body. The user can choose to have their sabers brush against each other, creating a ringing sound that causes distortions in auditory Genjutsu being used in the area that alert those affected to the existence of the Genjutsu. If used alongside Suigin [ Quicksilver ], auditory Genjutsu in the area are also disrupted for one post if the prior effect is used. If used with only one saber, these effects can be achieved by glancing the saber off of a metal object prior to striking.

Hanamoyou [ Floral Pattern ]
Rank: D :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by balancing their Moon Tooth saber(s) on the backs of their hands while performing the defensive maneuvers in Hanagata [ Ornament ]. After completion, the upkeep cost for Hanagata [ Ornament ] is reduced by one rank, to a minimum of E-Rank. Only applies while using a Moon Tooth saber to block.

Kinrei [ Golden Bell ]
Rank: D :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by using their Sun Tooth saber(s) to reflect light at rapidly changing and very unpredictable angles while maintaining fluidity. Whenever the practitioner uses Ginrei [ Silver Bell ], instead of affecting sound-based Genjutsu, sound-based Ninjutsu is affected at the user's discretion. Only applies while using a Sun Tooth saber.

___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Kasuri [ Splash Pattern ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user brings both sabers together, charges them with Chakra, and swings them downward. The Chakra leaks out as the user swings, sending a slashing wave of Chakra a meter outward along the path of the strike. If used with Moon Tooth saber(s), this technique gains the ability to disperse particulate attacks (gas, dust, etc.) within its range as if they were complex Taijutsu; if used with Sun Tooth saber(s), the wave's range increases by a meter per rank.

Sode no Tsuyu [ Tears Falling on a Sleeve ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user spins a saber in one hand and uses it to redirect an attack away from them. Ignores descriptive increases to Taijutsu and Bukijutsu attacks it interacts with. If used with a Moon Tooth saber, spiritual enhancements to techniques have no effect when interacting with this technique; if used with a Sun Tooth saber, projectile Ninjutsu is treated as a complex physical technique. Can be used twice--that is, once with each weapon--simultaneously without consuming an extra activation.

Junpuu [ Favorable Wind ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by using their Moon Tooth saber(s) to disperse their own Chakra, gradually getting used to the feeling of doing so. Following completion of this task, the practitioner's complex attacks with Moon Tooth sabers become able to dissipate fine particulate Ninjutsu as though it were complex Taijutsu, and any techniques that already afford this ability disperse as though the particulate technique were simple Taijutsu. Only works if the practitioner is dual-wielding Moon Tooth sabers.

Chikyuushou [ Earth Shine ]
Rank: C :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by releasing Chakra from the teeth of their Sun Tooth saber(s), gradually getting used to the feeling of doing so. Following the completion of this task, the practitioner's complex attacks with Sun Tooth sabers ignore any descriptive increases to the fortitude of defensive techniques. Only works if the practitioner is dual-wielding Sun Tooth sabers.

___S t a g e F o u r [ B ]
Taiyoukou [ Rays of the Great Light ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges a saber and tosses it. Halfway along its path (or at a time specified by the user), the Chakra bursts out in a cutting wave, spiraling two meters outward. If used with a moon tooth saber, the wave emits a bright light that causes noticeable distortions in visual Genjutsu its rank or lower within five meters of the light; if used with a Sun Tooth saber, the wave will disperse Ninjutsu its rank or lower within two meters of it.

Kinran [ Gold Brocade ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user holds their saber(s) against their body with the side of the blade between them and an incoming attack. Just before the attack lands, the user projects a shield of Chakra around the blade, allowing it to deflect the energy behind the attack. Ninjutsu is treated as complex Bukijutsu when interacting with this technique.

Shimai [ Dance in Plain Clothes ]
Rank: B :: Simple
Description: A highly artistic stance that emphasizes flow between techniques. Any descriptive increases to the first physical technique used per post carry over to any subsequent physical techniques as though they were innate bonuses. Bonuses carried over reset at the beginning of each post. Upkeep of this technique’s rank is paid every post.

Monomane [ Mimicry ]
Rank: B :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by mimicking the movements of another Style they know with their saber(s). After completing this task, the saber(s) can be used with stances of that Style as though they were the appropriate weapon. The Style chosen cannot be changed in battle, and takes 5 posts to change out of battle.

___S t a g e F i v e [ A ]
Hachi [ Basin ]
Rank: A :: Complex
Description: The user swings their saber, releasing Chakra from its blade edge to create a rapidly swirling disc 3 meters across. This disc is functionally solid and remains fixed in space, though it can be moved using the saber that created it. Lasts for two posts or until struck with a stronger technique. The disc can be launched like a projectile using the saber that created it, in which case the user pays Stamina to throw it and it interacts with things that it hits as a Spiritual technique.

Enka [ Smoke and Mist ]
Rank: A :: Spiritual
Description: The user charges their saber(s) with Chakra but does not affix it to the weapon, instead allowing it to permeate the air like a fog. This fog obscures Doujutsu but does not affect regular eyesight. While in the fog, the range of Suigin [ Quicksilver ] and the size of Hachi [ Basin ] are doubled and simple techniques using the Sun-Moon Tooth Sabers are treated as complex. Fills a thread initially, but can be manipulated as though it were a fog by techniques B-Rank or higher, or C-Rank or higher by Fuuton techniques. Lasts four posts.

Chouryuu [ Tides ]
Rank: A :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by practicing restraint with their Moon Tooth saber(s). They practice any known Moon Tooth saber techniques, making sure to stop before fully following through. Following completion of this task, an attack made with the Moon Tooth saber can be made innately non-lethal once per post. Only works if the user is not wielding a Sun Tooth saber.

Jisei [ Self Control ]
Rank: A :: Training
Description: The practitioner trains by kneading Chakra into their Sun Tooth saber(s) without discharging it and rapidly swapping which hand is holding the saber(s). Following the completion of this task, all simple techniques used with Sun Tooth sabers are treated as complex and the user is treated as dual-wielding them even if only one is in use. Only works if the user is not wielding a Moon Tooth saber.

___S t a g e S i x [ S ]
Taiin no Hada [ Skin of the Great Darkness ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: The user forces Chakra through a Moon Tooth saber, straightening out any imperfections in its surface and forming a reflective sheen on its surface. Using this saber, the user can defend against optical and light-based techniques as though they were simple Bukijutsu and reflects those that are completely defended against. Additionally, while this technique is active, the range of any Moon Tooth saber effects is doubled while this technique is active. Lasts five posts.

Taiyou no Tsume [ Claw of the Great Light ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: The user kneads Chakra into the teeth of the Sun Tooth saber, bringing them into resonance with the user's Chakra network. Any complex techniques used with the Sun Tooth saber have their Chakra costs halved. Additionally, the range of any Sun Tooth saber effects is doubled while this technique is active. Lasts five posts.

Uchiwa no Sokyaku
Rejection of the Fan
User Image

___Description:
___The Gunbai is a solid fan used by nobles and military officers on the battlefield, typically as a defense against projectiles and the sun. For this reason, it is seen as a weapon made for the soft, even though there have been a few notable warriors who used them. Despite the scorn directed toward its use, the gunbai's use by the wealthy ensured that tomes of techniques were well-preserved, and recently several were collected and released to display the weapon's utility as a defensive and support tool. Time will tell if the gunbai's reputation recovers.
___Relevant Training: Gunbai.

___Notes:
• Gunbai are solid fans, typically made of metal and/or wood. This means they cannot fold, and as such are incompatible with any fan techniques that require or assume folding.
• Gains a slight increase to strength with every mastered stage for a total of a supreme increase upon mastery.

Gunbai no Enka [ Beacon of the War Fan ]
Rank: X :: Complex
Description: The user charges the gunbai with a Genjutsu, causing anyone who sees the gunbai to gain half the effects of whatever food the user last consumed, stacking with the benefits of the food the targets consumed. ___S t a g e T h r e e [ C ]
Gunbai no Hitei [ Denial of the War Fan ]

Kondaku [ Muddiness ]
Rank: A :: Spiritual
Description: The user charges their gunbai with Chakra, kneading it in such a way that it disperses light. Additionally, the gunbai can be used as a conduit for Kai [ Release ] for sufferers of visual Genjutsu up to five meters away. Lasts for three posts.

Oufuu [ Cross Wind ]

Gunrei [ Military Command ]
Rank: S :: Spiritual
Description: The ultimate tool in a commander's arsenal. The user releases Chakra from their gunbai, launching it toward an ally at A-Rank speed. This ball of Chakra is absorbed by the first creature to come into contact with it and grants them access to up to six of the user's descriptive ranks, chosen by them. These descriptive ranks do not count toward the normal limit and last for three posts. Has no effect if used more than once on the same person.
