Seth's brows furrowed a little more at the appearance of the other fire type. He had expected her other Pokemon to appear than the large fluffy dog. This would make things harder for certain considering they were the same type.

He watched as the Extremespeed clipped Pele, causing her to stumble backward and shake her head. Not the most powerful move, just a glorified quick attack really.

"Sunny Day!" The elite called to his oldest Pokemon, who lifted her head to glance sidelong at her trainer.

The room was then flooded with an intense light and the temperature rose several degrees.

As the room brightened, the sandstorm summoned by Seth's Tyranitar died - a good thing for both of the fire types, who had no resistance to the scouring winds. Moloch shot past Pele and rounded on her again, ready and eager for his next command.

"Hmm," mused Nadja, narrowing her eyes in the harsh light. From the looks of things this was going to take a while. Time to speed it up a bit.

"Toxic."

Moloch paused and shuffled back on his paws, massive jaws working with little 'aur' noises. Then with a furious shake of his head he sent a thick glob of slobber flying toward the Volcano Pokemon.

Squinting against the light, Seth weighed his options as his Typhlosion befell the same problem as Nadja's Kingdra. At this point, he knew he was going to lose... it just depended on how badly.

Pele was covered in the purple toxic goo which burned and caused her to feel sick. Not to mention it smelled like dog.

"Eruption!"

Despite the Arcanine's resistance to fire, the Sunny Day would power it up and Pele still had the majority of her HP left. Again the Typhlosion released a burst of flame and rocks with a mighty roar.

Once it was done, she slumped over slightly as the poison started to take its toll.

Nadja waited for the rocks and flame to stop raining down. The latter did little to Moloch; in fact, the giant canine whurfed at the falling embers. They were pretty.

Then a large rock hit him on the head, followed by three more in quick succession.

The Arcanine stumbled with a little yip of pain, splaying his paws to stay upright under the onslaught. Even with his natural affinity for fire, he wasn't meant to stand in the heart of the inferno, and his ears slicked back with discomfort.

The redhead waited until the rumbling ceased and her Pokemon was no longer a shimmering mirage in the heat to call out. "Morning Sun."

Moloch's ears perked. She'd just given the best command. He willingly pointed his nose into the bright light that flooded the arena from above and was still for a few moments.. then barked and waved his feathery tail like a pennant, fully rejuvenated.

Yet another surprise as the Arcanine used a rather obscure breeding move which caused Seth to frown. Although really, he wasn't all that surprised. Nadja was pulling out moves like that as if they were common place.

"Solar Beam."

Seth told the Typhlosion, seemingly just grasping for straws at this point considering the situation was not in his favor.

With the intense rays shining down on her, Pele instantly shot a dazzling beam of light from her maw and towards the Arcanine. Then again she grimaced as the poison decreased her health even further.

When the light cleared Moloch was there, blinking away afterimages and looking rather confused by the ineffectual attack. Nadja frowned faintly. What was he doing? As strategies went, this wasn't one. His expression was like a thunder cloud, but sulking..?

Her eyes were on the man across the arena now, calculating and guarded; the Pokemon were blurred images in her peripheral vision.

"Extremespeed," she called, watching for his reaction.

Moloch launched himself at Pele readily, cannoning toward her on huge, tufted paws.

Seth's expression was tense, but otherwise unreadable. He simply watched the Arcanine repeat its move from before. While the Solar Beam didn't do significant damage to the Arcanine, it did some, and that's what mattered.

Pele cried out, the damage from the extremespeed and the Toxic knocking down her health significantly. The fire type wavering from weakness and closing her eyes against the pain.

"Reversal!"

The elite then called, causing Pele's eyes to snap open again. The Typhlosion clenched a paw into a fist, then rushed at the Arcanine and swung.

It was a gamble, what she'd done, relying on confidence in her Pokemon's ability to take a hit. Moloch was a large, bulky dog, and under normal circumstances the two attacks would have brought his health into the amber zone. Or should have.

Pele's fist connected with a sensitive spot where joints met in a critical hit, lifting the Arcanine off his paws with a startled yelp. The massive fire type skidded across the arena, now a mess of jagged rocks, broken ground and melting, sandy snow draining into the gutters installed for just such a purpose, and was still.

Nadja smiled a dry, rueful smile. Of course. Red light called the fallen dog back and she lofted her last ball into the air, releasing a huge, bulbous ghost.

"Finish it, Keres. Thunder Punch."

The eerie static that filled the room with the Dusknoir's arrival intensified into visible lightning as she clenched her thick fists and plummeted towards Pele, red eye wide and unblinking.

The vicious hit seemed to do the trick, but Pele stumbled and was barely standing as the poison slowly sapped her strength. The victory over the Arcanine was rather short lived as the Dusknoir appeared and made a quick strike.

The thunderpunch struck the Typhlosion in the jaw. With a cry, the large fire type fell forward and hit the ground with a thud, ending the battle.

Seth closed his eyes for a moment and sighed, while returning Pele to her ball. After a moment or so, he snorted. "Pathetic," he muttered, although it wasn't exactly clear what he was referring to.

Keres hovered there a moment awaiting her next opponent. As she faded to red light and was pulled back into her ball, she looked vaguely disappointed.

Nadja minimized the sphere, clipped it back on her belt, and began to pick her way around the jumbled mess of rocks and ice. "You fight well." It was plainly stated, and she was slightly smiling.

Nyx finally reached the door all of the commotion had been coming from. But now it sounded like things were dying down... Although, she had thought she heard Miss Nadja's voice. "Hmm..." Nyx thought a moment, and then put her ear close to the door to try and hear what was going on.

Blue eyes followed her as Nadja came closer.

As a teenager he would have taken a loss much harder, but he was mostly past that. Still, it seemed to bother him.

"Not well enough," he stated matter-of-factly. There were clearly flaws in his strategy, perhaps even in the Pokemon he was using. He would have to evaluate this. While it had worked before, it clearly wasn't now, but things did change and he would have to make changes also.

Folding his arms across his chest, Seth's expression changed little as he looked at the woman. "Your strategy is admirable. Perhaps I've gotten too use to thrashing grunts."

"H'm," Nadja mused, looking away to watch her footing on a particularly treacherous point of ground with her arms out slightly for balance. She didn't directly acknowledge Seth's compliment, but she sounded pleased. "It's true, they're not much of a challenge."

The redhead stepped lightly down from an upthrust slab of rock and met his gaze as she approached him. "Mind you, that was the best match I've had in some time. I'd be happy to discuss approaches with you."

In most cases, Seth would come back with some sort of snide remark, but he held back on this for some reason. Instead he paused and looked at Nadja with a lifted brow. In all honesty, it was the best match he'd had in some time also. She was certainly a worthy opponent.

"Hm. That may be worth my time." Was his reply to her offer. A faint smirk finally reappearing on his features. "I will want a rematch eventually." And no, he hadn't forgotten that he now owed her a favor.

May? Nadja gave him a look - raised brows, a slight headtilt, and a knowing smirk, all adding up to an unspoken 'You're not fooling anyone.'

"We'll see," she told him with a brief smile that promised absolutely nothing. Up until that point she looked as if she would walk right up to the other elite, but now she angled slightly as if to head for the exit instead.
