Hers was being addressed by Toulonth's... Acceptable. "Toulonth." She acknowledged the other green only with her name, but her tones were as amiable as they ever got; she was satisfied with the pairing up, and she liked what little she knew of the other green's rider. Precise. Deliberate.
K'ro smiled down at the much smaller, rather younger rider and nodded. "That's right; I'd be happy to pair with you." He didn't know F'ren very well, but he did know that he liked things to be... precise. Viridith would approve of that, and it was a trait that he didn't mind... So long as F'ren didn't want something precisely the way he didn't want it: bonding to stubborn Viridith had highlighted his own stubbornness to him. Still, he couldn't see there being any issues; following instructions wasn't likely to lead to contentious situations.

I don't know about this... Linnaeth protested the order to separate, though he (reluctantly) stayed in the marked circle. Out of his clutch, it probably wasn't surprising to see the little browns reluctance, since he'd spent much of his time since he'd hatched clinging, often literally, to S'in, who gave him a reasuring pat before moving away to look for a partner. You'll be fine.He assured. I'm not that far away.
Linnaeth's snort was fairly indicative that he didn't, however, have to -like- it, although the nearby Crimson, Luvith, seemed almost amused by his sulky behavior, sitting primly and self confidently as her partner, S'kagi, walked away to search for a partner himself.
All else failing, he could partner with S'in, per the instructions, but both boys were looking anyway.

F'ren was surprised to find himself looking up at the older rider, *it's not often i'm looking up* he thought Smiling slightly at K'ro that is because you are nearly always looking at me replied Toulonth, moving towards Linnaeth who seemed slightly distressed by the separation it will be alright Linnaeth, yours will be alright, you will be alright, you can stay near me if it helps? but Ours need to learn so that we can fly with them and don't get hurt she said convinced that she was right.

Lerath habitually gave a rumble as Dynith sidled near him. He never really understood just why the green was so nervous sometimes, but he didn’t mind her being close if it helped. I think so. Now he was starting to wonder. Dynith wasn’t the only disturbed dragon around him. Their fidgeting wings and whirling eyes began to bother him. Caught in the middle of the circle and being a blue, Lerath could not see His through some of the larger dragons huddling near the edge of the circle. The blue reared up on his hind feet suddenly, his neck stretching until spotting his dark haired boy. His wings, which always seemed to awkwardly hover half-open, stretched wide and gave him a sudden, uncanny balance. Mine. What is wrong? Are you alright? What are we doing?
V’al started to fall into line, but a barrage of questions stopped him and he turned back, focusing on his dragon to close the mental distance between him. He’d expected this. He and Lerath made a confident pair, but the little blue sometimes riled himself from wondering about the ‘why’ of everything. There’s nothing wrong, he answered solemnly. We’re both fine. The others are just nervous because they don’t spend any time apart. You explore by yourself sometimes though, right?
And when it bothers me I come back. It was a practiced phrase.
Yes, you do. And I call you back when I want you. Are you bothered now? Lerath gave a negative response. See? We’re stronger for not doubting. Now be calm and wait. Help the others if you can. He sent an affectionate thought through their bond and fell into line by G’brel, smiling ever-so-faintly.
Lerath snapped his wings closed and dropped to all fours and looked over Dynith with a blue-green eye. There is nothing to worry about. This will not last long, and then I will be with Mine, and you with Yours. Think of scratches.

S'kor frowned. He hadn't thought it'd be this hard to find a partner. What was the other bronze rider's name? 'D'lin Mine.' Ah, yes D'lin. He looked around for the other.
Scarath swiveled his head. 'Toulonth! How are you and Yours doing?' He gave an amused snort when His couldn't immediantly recall the other's name. 'D'lin Mine.' With that settled, he turned his attention back to the other dragons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Optheli tried not to bounce as she waited. "I know what you mean. I'm glad Dynith detached herself so easily." She made a face. "Though I bet when this is over she wont let me three feet away from her for the rest of the day. You do think she'll grow out of it don't you?" Not that she minded her dragon following her everywhere; it could just become problematic when the green got bigger.
Dynith watched the blue rear up to check on His. Her tail twitched nervously. Was Hers alright too? She craned her neck to peer around dragon bodies. Her's was standing next to another girl.
When Lerath relaxed back down, she returned his look solemnly. 'Alright, if you think so.' Obediently she half closed her eyes and began to think of the scratches she'd get for being good after this lesson. It helped some.

Plexith didn't have any trouble heading off with the other Dragon's, D'lin wasn't at all surprised by this a the Bronze was an independent little felllow. D'lin on the other hand was left scratching his head slightly a he looked about the mass of weyrling hunting to and fro for suitable partners, he didn't much see the point of making the chaos worse by joining in so he stood at the edge and waited until he spotted the other bronze rider. Was that him? It looked like him. Putting up a hand he waved it about to draw the others attention "S'kor! Over here"

S'kor might have the height, but right now it wasn't helping in the least. There seemed to be twice the number of weyrlings surging to and fro. His name called above the general noise and a waving hand drew his attention. Finally, he had found the other. His arm raises in a return wave, so D'lin knows he was spotted. S'kor worked his way through the crowd of people to the other bronze rider with relief. That was thankfully over. "Hey D'lin. Don't mind if we partner up?" He was fairly sure he wouldn't mind.

Ofelia had been somewhat loathe to let go of Grawareth's leg when she was prompted to do so by the great brown's rider, but a mental reassurance from Serinth that there could be more hugs later (probably an outright lie) sent the red-head skipping over into the group of people. Serinth basically did the same thing towards the dragonets, her steps odd and bouncy as she made the dragon equivalent of laughter.
Serinth slid herself into the thick of the group, using her growing bulk to muscle past all the greens and blues to get near where the browns and bronzes where. They were more or less her type of dragon, what with how one day she'd ride in their wings and not with those who couldn't go whole entire flights. Ofelia had made mention once or twice in their two months together (thus far) that she'd like to see Serinth get up there in the ranks. What exactly she may have meant by that was up for debate.
Hey there Plexith, Linnaeth, Scarath. How are the three of you doing on this wonderful day? You too Luvith, smile! We're outside and it's awesome!
If Serinth was having separation issues, she certainly wasn't showing it. Ofelia could feel it though and she cast a worried glance over at the dragonet circle before she moved towards S'in. She knew he was a Brownrider (she kept tabs on those who rode her favorite color in the whole of Pern) so it would be okay to partner with him, right?
"O' S'in! Yer gonna be mah partner, 'kay? Let's go on over an' get wit' the rest o' the group before they start up."
Ofelia grabbed the younger boy's hands as she bound up to him, shaking them energetically. There was a massive grin on her face, most likely because she was glad to not be the odd man out.

F'ren smiled slightly as K'ro "soo.... how's it been for you recently then? lessons going alright?" he asked lamely trying to make conversation, not something he was good at unless he was flirting but he figured that wasn't a good idea at the moment.
Toulonth moved aside for the crimson who seemed intent on barging her way rudely through the lesser colours, Linnaeth? are you alright? Yours will be alright you know she said.

"Uh, what? Uh, ok..." S'in blinked as he was seized by the very memorable... and apparently very clingy, Ophelia. He'd been looking for a partner, he just wasn't entirely sure he wanted one that brought this much attention. "...Hi."
S'in? Linnaeth perked up a touch uncertainly, a distinct flicker of jealously underlining his tone.
It's just training Linnaeth. S'in assured.
---
It's nice out, but I'll smile more when S'kagi does. Luvith noted, somewhat impatiently eyeing her partner, who was looking to the Weyrlingmaster uncertainly as Odd man out. He needs to worry less. He always worries too much.

Ah! Relief S'kor had spotted him and in goodly time too as some of the others were still running about, He was rather glad he hadn't needed to enter the mob to find his partner. D'lin didn't mind crowds but he did prefer a less hectic one when given the choice, order and organization was far more his cup of klah.
Nodding his head slightly to S'kor as he came over D'lin offered his hand in greeting "Course not, Plexith is determined we bronze riders put on a good showing of it" He told the other with a laugh. That was Plexith for you - always wanting to be the best, but that was a bronze for you. Surely S'kor if anyone would understand.
Plexith meanwhile had take up a patient spot along side his fellow bronze, his gaze roving over some of his more worried clutch mates with a reassuring look. Surely once they saw how confident and relaxed he was they would follow his example and calm as well. Everyone knew bronzes were good role models for such things. He was in the middle of these thoughts when Serinth bounced through the mass of greens and blues to insinuate herself in 'his' group. The crimson was certainly growing and Plexith would of course expect her to put an excellent foot forward - if she, like the browns wanted to run with the big boys (bronzes obviously) then she would have to put some effort into it right? 'Greetings Serinth, I for one am looking forward to this lesson - it looked so very interesting when we walked up!' And was certainly far more interesting then delivering boxes to the kitchens!

Once free of the crush, S'kor took D'lin proffered hand firmly but not crushing. He turned to look back over the crowd. "Well, I hope not to disappoint him then. Though I'd say we have it pretty easy on partner picking." He sounded amused about the bronze's attitude. "Any idea why we pair up with like colors?"
Scarath had nodded welcoming as the other bronze joined him. They were certainly large enough to see easily over the others. He had a good view of His and the field. 'Greetings Plexith. Mine and Yours should do well.'
The crimson came pushing her way through the other colors to join himself and Plexith; the bronze watched disapprovingly. While he wouldn't exactly say anything, his feelings were plain. Finally he answered. 'I do well, Serinth. Yours is doing well I hope?'
When the crimson came crushing through the little green pulled back in a cringe. That was one she certainly wanted to stay out of notice of. Luckily she'd mostly been surrounded by other blues and greens.

When it looked as though most Candidates had more or less paired up, D'can took the hand of the remaining Crimsonrider who'd been left out ( S'kagi, he'd heard Grawareth prompt him based on speaking the the dragonets ) and marched him over in front of the marked out pattern.
"Since S'kagi here is the odd one out, we're going to be working together on this pattern. Everyone pay attention since your dragonets will be walking this after you complete it; this is one of the most basic drills I can cover to start with. When you're ready S'kagi, just follow my lead."
Take a step forward into the marked area, D'can made sure that his partner was able to keep up with him as they followed the twisting and turning route of arrows and other signs. The drill was easy enough to understand and the path was very clearly marked, allowing for a fast pace that would likely only get faster as the Weyrlings and their lifemates learned it down by heart and were able to complete it flawlessly on the ground - and then finally in the air.
"Now you're probably wondering why I've grouped you all with like colors - for the time being it's because your dragonets are going to be flying together in similar fashion. It's important that each greenrider know how another Greenrider will react in a pattern, just as it is for blues and blacks and so on. Every person here is looking at someone who may potentially fly one day at your side, and it's good to know the person atop that dragon."
D'can paused in his talking (he'd been talking while moving the pattern) and slowly pushed S'kagi towards another mark, the young man possibly stepping the wrong way somehow. It was an easy mistake even on such a short marked drill, and the man didn't begrudge him it. For a first timer the Crimsonrider was doing wonderful.
"For the time being you're with another of your dragonet's color, but soon we'll switch out and you'll have to partner with someone who holds a dragon of another color. There are no ranks in my lessons when it comes to preparing for flight, and no ranks when it comes time to learn to fight thread. I'll let your Wingleaders teach you all of that, but for now let's focus on what's ahead of us."
At the edge of the pattern the man turned around and started walking it in reverse, indicating that each pair would have to do it at least twice. It was important that they pay attention since their dragonets would be going right behind them, and D'can didn't want to see any accidents or arguements. When he and S'kagi reached the beginning again he motioned with his hand for the teams to draw closer, ready.
"The pattern system is set that you all can run it at once, though in order of one behind the other. Instead of going in reverse like I did though just walk back around to the beginning and go again. The goal here is not to work it quickly, it's all about memorization. On my mark, begin."
With a word of thanks to his partner and a motion that he could either walk it again by himself or go join his dragonet, the Weyrlingmaster raised his hand into the air.
"Go."
( I leave how you run this up to your imaginations! Make me laugh, make me smile. Remember though that D'can is watching everyone for their progess )

See. We're going first. This worked out well. People should pay attention to us.... Luvith sounded pleased as S'kagi was partnered with the Weyrlingmaster, her head bobbing as she looked between her partner and the older brown rider. By the way, turning red isn't making you hide any better. She noted, which made S'kagi stumble again shooting her an look and resisting the urge to try and tug on his bangs like usual, as he took the opportunity to practice on his own for a second run, instead of just joining Luvith. This was clearly important, he could use the practice.
Luvith, I'm trying to concentrate here...
You're also trying to hide. Stop it. With me you'll never need to hide.
...Reminds me of trying to memorize a weaving pattern He changed the subject as he made his way through the path.
This will be easier. Unless you can make a knot out of dirt.
Luvith joked, having prodded S'kagi for stories about the hold he'd left behind. The tiny patterns in weaving were fascinating to her, as was the idea that patterns as complex as her wings could be made from tiny threads.

G'brel paid close attention as the Weyrlingmaster and S'kagi began walking the course, trying to memorize what she could of the pattern herself before their turn came up. She had to feel a bit bad for the crimsonrider though; she didn't think he'd like the current attention from everyone, and his red face seemed to prove as much.
The teen was eager when their turn was up, although she tried to mostly keep it to herself. "Let's get started then," she said brightly to her partner before stepping on to the marked pattern.
Memorize it well, Mine. We will likely be doing this pattern our whole life, he mused. He used 'life' instead of 'lives', as one often did not live without the other.
Yes, yes, I know. Shut up and do some memorizing yourself.
You made a wrong turn.
What? Oh Shards. The young bluerider flushed slightly and quickly corrected her mistake. You distracted me.
You're not supposed to get so easily distracted when fighting thread. The blue's mental voice sounded entirely too amused by this conversation. He wasn't normally much of a talker, but on occasion he found some amusement in harassing his rider a bit. For the better, of course.
Oh shut up. You're supposed to be helping me, not poke fun at me.
Very well then. In that case, you might want to start turning left.
Huh? Oh, right. It really was a pretty simple course, but it was difficult to concentrate while bespeaking one's dragon at the same time. She'd need to work on that.
