Azzo walked beside of Melody. "I Know I've been wanting a dragon. Maybe Chinese, to replace the one that got lost."
He hummed, as he walked. "Maybe we'll have time for a bite of lunch or something while we're here?" He asked tilting his head.

"A dragon?" There was no doubt in her mind that they would have some sort of dragon puppet for Azzo, since a lot of Chinese decorations were based around dragons. And lion-dog like creatures, and phoenixes- She cut off her train of thought, knowing her mind was getting away from her though why she wasn't sure.
"I'm almost positive they'll have some sort of dragon puppet, though it might be mostly Chinese dragons, as opposed to the more Western and European based dragons."

Azzo nodded, as he walked, "Yeah."
When she mentioned it probably would be mostly Chinese dragons "Ah well, I didn't know if there might be other eastern styles as well." He said softly pondering.
"You'll help me pick one out?" He said tilting his head as it seemed some of the shops were starting to fade into the Oriental style.

"The only real difference between Eastern and Western dragons are that Eastern tend to be more serpentine," she replied with a nod. "They've got longer, more snake like bodies and their legs aren't as close together."
Back in middle school she'd done a report for English class about the difference between the two types, focusing more on the Eastern as that was what her dad had known more about. There was nothing wrong with Eastern dragons, she'd admit if ever asked. She just liked Western dragons more.
"Though called Eastern dragons they are often called Chinese dragons due to the heavy influence of dragons designs in ancient China." Though not in all of China, if she remembered correctly. A thoughtful frown crossed her face. "Though... I could be wrong, now that I think about it. I'm spouting out old information from middle school."
A soft blush of embarrassment. "Sorry, I'll stop babbling now."

Azzo blinked when Melody started off on a, rather interesting 'babble'. He seemed to lapse into a thoughtfulness as she spoke.
When she fell quite with the blush he paused, "Honestly, it's all very interesting." He said after a second taking a moment to glance into the window of a shop near by.
"The fact of the matter though, I think, is that considering what we have to look at. Pete the Dragon for example, long neck, fat body... he's not quite as pretty in a puppet form as perhaps a Chinese dragon would be?"
He wasn't really sure either, just the few American dragons he'd seen he hadn't really liked their looks. "I'm hoping at least, that Chinese dragons are prettier in puppet form than American dragons so to speak." He chuckled.

"But it may or may not be entirely truthful," she countered, fingers toying with a lock of hair. "It's old information I could possibly be remembering wrong."
And wrong information was bad, not truthful, and could possibly start a debate or some such later in life. A mental shake of her head followed that thought, suddenly wondering what could be wrong with her. It wasn't like her mind to wonder like that.
"But Pete the dragon is a fictional cartoon dragon made to look like he does. And that's the difference between him and actual Western dragons." Another counter, fingers still playing with her hair. "And using a cartoon dragon as an example doesn't really play fair, you know? An insult to Western dragons every where."
Not that there really were Western dragons in the world... "But I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. I bet we'll find lots of pretty dragon puppets."

Azzo paused and lofted a brow, "How is it an insult when I say they're prettier?" He asked curiously.
"Besides most fictional Dragons in kids books that are from here all have similar traits. Fat body, long necks, breath fire." He paused. Shook his head it was useless to argue about something when you were trying to make the point of something looking creepy. Though coming from Azzo, who's room was a meat locker saying something was creepy, it probably was.
However, he kept forgetting Mel hadn't actually seen his room. The amount of puppets in it, it was a surprise anyone could walk into without feeling watched.

"Noo, you misunderstood!" she huffed, and came to a stop. "I said using Pete as an example of most Western dragons was an insult. He's a cartoon character designed from Western dragons, but he's no where near as gorgeous as actual Western dragons."
Ugh, why was this turning into a debate? Had she missed something or was it purely too different ways of thinking crossing paths? Boy, what a mess this was turning into.
"And of course most fictional dragons in kids books look like that, it's to make it so they aren't scared. It's like turning mice into Mickey Mouse so he's more kid friendly."

Azzo paused looking puzzled. What had he missed? He blinked, "Either way... they don't make for very good puppets." He said after a second and a frown.
He scratched the back of his neck thinking before something in a shop window caught his eye, "Well yeah, it might be like turning something into mickey mouse, but what I'm trying to get at what's cute in drawings isn't cute made into wood."
He grabbed her hand for a second and tugged her into the shop, "Hey look at this." He wasn't really changing the subject but he'd found something he thought she might ought to see.
He at least thought it looked cute. Picking up the little hand painted box when they reached what he'd seen in the window.

"Which is why I said I'd help you find a pretty dragon puppet," she sighed in exasperation. She loved him dearly but it didn't seem like he had been paying much attention to what she had said at all.
Then, before she could even dwell on the rest of what had been said, she was pulled into the shop she had stopped by. Brown eyes blinked, and she tried not to blush, at the feel of his hand against hers. God she was utterly hopeless...
Watching him picking up the box, Melody blinked and tilted her head. It was kinda cute from what she could see of it. "What is it?"

Azzo shurged as he was investigating it. "Iunno." He said obviously if he'd look at the bottom there was probably a tag that said what it was. However he was too busy looking at the designs on the white box to notice the price tag just yet.
"I mean after all you like cherry blossoms right?" He turned it so she could see the cherry tree and little fake lock that had caught his eye. Before looking under it for a possible price. It wasn't too much bigger than his hand.
"Hm... might be a jewelry box type thing?" He said as he lifted the lid, "You could store something in it anyways right?" He chuckled, offering it to her.

Taking it from him to investigate it, she found the designs adorable. It was small though, she didn't know what she might put in it. After all at home she had a large jewelery box at home...
Looking it over, she wasn't sure what to say or if it was even something she could do anything with. Which was sad, it really was cute. Gently she set it down and smiled at him.
"I'll think about it. But first, let's see if we can find you a puppet here."

Azzo tilted his head and pondered, before nodding. Even if she didn't get it... it was pretty. "Alright." He said with a bob of his head.
He looked around before eyes slipping to a corner, it probably didn't have puppets in it. However, it looked like a likely suspect. As he looked making sure to keep tabs on Mel he seemed to think, "Did I miss song bird's birthday?" He asked curiously as his hand stopped at another little trinket.

She had moved to meander around the small shop, hoping for signs of a puppet for her pup, when he asked his question. Blinking, she turned to look at him with her head tilted as if she hadn't quite heard the whole thing and needed to process it. Seconds later her cheeks went bright, her heart racing at the his nickname for her, and she turned to study something.
"... Yea, though to be honest it wasn't like much happened anyway." Most of the city had been in their sleeping comas, devastation and worry having made it so there wasn't really a birthday for her. Not that she minded, having counted her family and Azzo waking up alive as her gift.
Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, a stray piece that had fallen from one of her twin ponytails, she glanced at him briefly. "It was the nineteenth of July." For his future reference.

Azzo would have to try to commit that to memory. He was working on it as he looked around, "Huh... that must've sucked." He said thinking, dude having my parents hang around sucked enough but everyone to be asleep on your birthday.
He wrinkled his nose as he paused and lifted a sleeve of... something. "Mel... what's this?" He asked curiously looking over at her as he investigated it. He found the colors interesting, and if he could just figure out what it was, it almost looked like it was suppose to have a bow or something...
Okay so puppet hunting was only part of what he wanted to do today.
