You know I can't slow down...

Sires was a complete and utter failure. Lance had little to no clue as to what happened after he got knocked over before the battle even started, but he knew one thing, that he didn't get a hold of that tome.

All that knowledge, yet again outside his grasp.

And now he was in this trial.

Lance had been to his share of courthouses. A lot of times, the 'justice' was just a cover for whoever that was in charge to decide who to punish and who not to. Justice is blind, but not deaf to the implorements of Her superior.

Lance had been sitting quietly as their charges was being read, then listened some more as Blossom made her sorry attempt at a defense (while feeling a bit bad, had he or Khalid briefed her properly, she could've been more ready for the news). He watched in silence as the commotion rose when that bonzo made a fool of himself. He was just about to plead his case, when that idiot stood up. Lance prayed he wouldn't say anything idiotic, anything that could implicate them...

And yet he did. Lance shouldn't have been surprised, naïvety was that boy's middle name. But had he waited just a little while, Lance could've made a pretty good attempt at punching holes in their accusation. How had they been placed at the scene of the crime? How did it become evident that the Estarcian soldiers fell by friendly fire? How come the last member of that squad, Khalid, did not get brought up? It smelled fishy from the beginning. But now they had no chance of getting out of it, as the idiot lordling just placed all of them at the scene of the crime. Lance had trouble containing a snicker as the judge clearly questioned the Lord's intellect.

Lance still could've raised an objection, but the judge seemed steadfast in his beliefs, and spoke in such a coordinated manner that he had been planning on issuing that verdict, no matter what was brought up. Proper bollocks, in other words.

As they were bound, Lance started thinking about an escape plan. Not for some way to talk their way out of the verdict over at the Asylum, just to get away. He knew nothing would change.

He lashed under his breath at Blossom as she snarled at the judge. "Blossom. Be quiet. Don't make it worse."

As they were lead out, he calmed his voice, speaking in a kinder manner. "Don't worry Blossy. It's a bogus trial. I dunno what their objective is, but listen how he quickly he decides on verdicts, as well as getting on with the next trial? We're just following the lead of something much bigger, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're getting rounded up at the Asylum for some other reason. But dun worry. I'll get us out of this." he said in an attempt to reassure her.

Clara was just about to yell at Derrin for what he did and maybe try to figure things out, but that wasn't to be. He was grabbed and put on this trial.

The myrmidon knew Derrin wasn't going to break down and cry. She knew he was going to say he was guilty. She even knew he was going to do something to make things worse. Even with all the knowledge of what was going on, she still ended up crying when she saw her boyfriend get taken away.

"How could they do this to him!?" She thought. "How can any of this be justified!? Some of these crimes are so petty why bother to put them on trial. Derrin made an honest mistake and they took him away from me!" All while this thought process was going on, Clara's head was down and she had a strong grip on the seat of her chair. If one looked close enough, they could see her arms shaking. Derrin may had said all those things to her, but she still loved him.

Clara lifted her head. There were tears going down her cheeks. She was gritting her teeth. Her eyes were filled with hatred. Hatred for Rogvald, hatred for the nobles, and most of all hatred for King James. If he was never found, none of this would have happened. Clara would still be having a happy relationship with Derrin. To put it simply this normally cheerful girl, was very mad.

She quickly stood up. Clara's eyes never faltered away from Rogvald. She wasn't scared about what was going to happen to her. She knew what she was about to do was going to get her thrown in jail. She yelled just one question out loud.

"IS THIS JUSTICE OR IS THIS POWER BEING ABUSED!?"

Honestly, Rei was filled with apathy and disgust. As it stood, he'd read pretty much every book, become proficient in many spells, and was in no way challenged by even the most difficult of concepts pertaining to Elder Magic. His pursuit of knowledge seemed to have been coming to a halt, if only due to lack of further resources. While he would have taken a pilgrimage to find the Elibean Archdruid, the Druid was sadly demanded to be present at some odd function at the Manor. Of course, he was quite skeptical, as any and all parties occurred either at the Host Club Mansion or at the Castle itself. And considering how Rei seemed to be the only member of the Host Club who still lived in the manor, he would have been informed of a party.

So, when he walked into the room seeing a court to be in session, he was likely less surprised than some. Rei knew little about the recent political goings-on, save that some foolish boy was crowned King and that he had an old man as his adviser, because clearly he was too incompetent to do anything himself. The Druid had more than a few years on the King, definitely, but even when he was that age, he actually did something. Rei practiced Dark Magic and fought in a war when he was only a year older than the child King is now, so why couldn't he be conducting this trial himself?

When he was referred to as "son of Nino", however, Rei had to restrain his negativity. The woman's mere mention made his blood boil, there was likely a list of reasons as to why he didn't care to be associated with her. But, on the other hand, if Learania was all of a sudden a monarchy, then the Druid figured he'd at least be in the running for that crown. After all, there were no forms or declarations that he knew of that said that if a bloodline failed to continue that it still held its claim to the throne centuries later. So, were they a monarchy, and were that the case, Rei was able to humor himself with the thought of being the King of Learania. He thought he was powerful enough for the role, surely, and he did have leadership experience...

But as interesting as that musing would be, the Druid had to shove it away in favor of defending himself in a trial. Wasn't there some kind of... statute of limitations or something? Wouldn't a year and a half of not being prosecuted through two leaders that actually had an idea of what they were doing carry more weight than an old man whose ego was too big for his diaper? Just the thought of something so insulting like that was more than enough to calm the Druid, shoving away any stress he had regarding the ordeal.

"This entire case just seems... off, Sir, I must admit." Rei said, simply smiling as he walked up towards the others, using his Mend staff as support. He didn't really need it at all, what with all the running-around he had to do in those battles and making various Host Club preparations, but it made him look cooler, he thought. Plus, these people had knacks for getting themselves hurt. "Do you even have any grasp on the events surrounding what you call 'conspiring'? If you don't, and for those observing, I'll give you the way things happened."

"As you stated, there was this... thing named Asami. What it would do was attack people by snatching them out of wherever they were, always alone, and attempt to fight them. Should she have injured you, an unavoidable feat once she brought you into this little world, your mind began to be effected, like a poison, an illness, or..." Rei paused, taking the Mend staff and holding it up for all to see. "Like the effects of a Staff. Some of may be familiar with the ones the magic users can wield, things like Sleep or Silence." Rei then pointed back towards Rhys, or some other staff-capable person in the room assuming he's not.

"But, the one her venom is closest to would be Berserk, as anyone involved can attest. It removed your fears, your doubts, your inhibitions, you felt confident enough to do anything and everything!" The Druid paused, looking towards Rogvald to let it sink in. Unlimited confidence, becoming fearless, it would be something all in the room could relate to. "However! The venom had the effect of making people extremely aggressive. Pair the thought that you can do anything you want with an explosive temper towards anyone and everything, and it's little wonder things happened like they did. Keep this in mind!" The Druid looked towards those alongside him: the swordsman Abel and the many members of the Watch that he'd barely seen more than once or twice. Competent melee combatants, the lot of them were.

"Now, I know exactly what the judge here is talking about, at his mention of a conspiracy. At the moment, I'll only speak for myself. As some may remember, the Castle was overtaken during those times, though many of us who you accuse of conspiring had no part in that assault. Or at least, I didn't." Rei glanced over towards Abel, a man looking extremely desperate compared to himself. And as long as he didn't have any overgeneralized outbursts, the Druid could dodge this bullet. "Everyone who was infected by this Asami woman found themselves in that castle after it fell. From there, all of us simply exchanged banter and then left. In my rage, I gave powerful threats to Asami, though I sadly did not act. Aside from that very brief encounter, I had no interactions with the wretch, so I don't see any claims of conspiring, at least from me."

The Druid took a step backwards, towards the crowd, shooting a few of his friends, namely Nils and Amelia, glances. "And unlike Abel or those of the Watch, I took no lives. All I did do was have it out with Amelia over there," he said, pointing his staff towards the General, "and spend some time with a certain Bard by the name of Nils."

Rei turned to face the crowd, smiling as he looked at Nils. He knew his friend, and they both likely knew this was coming well in advance. "Now, why wasn't there conflict there, you may wonder? Why didn't a powerful Druid like myself not remove the boy from this mortal plane?" Once more, the Druid paused, letting the people think. "Because he is as guilty as I am! Yes, that's right, one of the Crew should be up here on trial, but he isn't!"

The crowd was obviously taken by surprise, and Rei made sure to let them calm down before continuing. Shouting would make his throat hurt, after all! "Now then, with a chronicle of my involvement done, I'll say this: Nils, Amelia, you're both members of the Guild's 'Crew'. The people in charge, if you will, or at least quite high ranking in society. Now that I've brought you up, as bad as you may feel about it, please feel free to testify in my defense! Amelia, you were the only person ever in any danger from my actions during that event. And Nils, you and I were back to back almost the entire time, including whenever Amelia wasn't around! Surely the words of those around me, especially those in such high standing as these two are, carry at least some merit towards absolving me of the charges against me."

The Druid looked back towards Rogvald with a calm, emotionless expression. At the very least, he was getting the man's attention. Maybe he began to tune out the boy's defense. "And if that won't do, I'm sure that we can get a judge of character from almost anyone here! Were it not for my work, along with others of course, would we not still be under the control of Madriana and her Morphs? And if that were the case, we wouldn't have King James on the throne, now would we?"

The Druid finally fell silent, having finished speaking his piece regarding the matter. But, after a good second or so of silence, his face lit up, and he turned towards Rogvald once more. "Oh, I plead 'innocent', sir. I was not fully in control of my own actions, but I neither conspired with Asami or took a single life." With his stance on the subject finished for real, the Druid gave a slight bow and actually stopped talking.

"IT'S POWER BEING ABUSED!? OH EM GEE THE REVOLUTION IS UPON US! AAH, AAH, AAH, AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Screamed a lone deranged old man as he jumped out the back window in despair, making an excellent shattering noise as glass flew everywhere.

A hooded man had been quietly standing in the corner. He had come, not because he knew anyone, but because he wanted to know what was up. This man was an assassin and wanted to know who his future employers may be.

As he looked around, the knife-for-hire saw a familiar face: Rhys, a bishop. Knowing the healer could ruin his cover, the man tried to remain hidden, which shouldn't be that hard considering the chaos that was unfolding.

Suddenly for Volke, a long-haired man in a vest bumped into him, looking very frightened!

"I'm OUTTA here, maaaaaaan," Volke's new friend wailed. "That fat cat Rogvald's givin' me some negative vibes, maaaaaan! I gotta get out of here!" And he too jumped out the window, although in his case this was a somewhat safer move since there was far less glass.

"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

User ImageVaida watched in the audience, but made no reactions to the previous rulings. She didn't have any ground. She couldn't do anything. It wasn't as if bitching was working for anybody else. It only made things ******** worse! That stupid mage made everyone look horrible, Vaida was tempted to just jump up and knock him out. The only person who seemed to know how to handle their situation was that guy in the pony-tail.

Only when that geezer called Needles, one of HER captains, did the trial get a rise out of Vaida. She glared at the old man growled lowly to herself. That whole Asami thing happened before Vaida was promoted. She couldn't take responsibility for her captain's actions. The way the trial was going, Vaida knew she was probably going to lose a captain because of this. She could only imagine how Ghis would react. He had already lost one officer. Now he would probably loose four more.

Things were just going to s**t.

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words.
ogvald

xxxxxThe advisor stroked his chin as he listed to the... very... very mouthy boy. He had hardly listened to what the other boy had said. Rogvald was more interested in what the son of a beloved captain had to say for himself. The case was very strange and not even Rogvald was sure on how to handle it. He needed to hear what the accused to had to say, in this case.

The idea of being infected in such a way seemed too strange to be real, but the way the druid explained it, Rogvald could understand how it was possible. Unfortunately, there was no possible way of proving that they really had been infected. Only one who truly knew Asami's capabilities could attest to such. The two boys clearly did not know much about her- but that also hinted towards them not really being able to know much about her. Or in other words, there claim had ground. But one thing that bothered Rogvald was that the two boys described the infection differently. The nobody said that it was like they didn't know they were doing it, while the druid claimed they did. Being berserked makes a person act wildly in a way they would not act, but that person is still cognizant of what they are doing. The difference in explanation was very suspicious. It seemed like one was lying.

Another hint that it was perhaps the druid that was lying was a subtle expression on the nobody's face right after Rei claimed he did not have anything to do with the assault. Rogvald narrowed his eyes. Rei was acting very suspiciously.

And then Rei showed his malicious intent... Rogvald's eyes flared open. He rummaged through the papers, looking over all the details again. He banged the gabble several times until the room quieted. "Order! Order!" Rogvald looked down at the druid with rage in his eyes, as the boy finished yapping. "Unbelievable! Disgraceful! You attempt to throw this trial into chaos by accusing a crew member?! Inconceivable! There is no such information in the reports on the matter! I thought you were perhaps lying, but this tears it! You are no son of a captain, you are just a lying scoundrel! Your words do not fool me. If crew were involved, then this guild would be nothing but a sham! It would become unmade instantly!"

Rogvald shook his head. "This case is more atrociously complex and misleading than I thought... I will continue to investigate it! If there are witnesses, then I will speak with them myself, later. I have many cases still being investigated that I cannot bring up charges for yet, such as the events with Madrianna, something about Tura, and the return of Razevi." Yes, what he said was true. Rath must have done something, because no proof or incriminating evidence could be found on some cases. It was driving Rogvald mad. "In the meantime, I will declare a lenient sentence for the wrongdoings you all committed. I have testimony from you and proof from the reports here that you all either killed or attacked others. 'Berserked' or not, you still must be held responsible. Therefore, you are all hereby.. banished from Eyris! Officers of the Watch are stripped of their titles for the time being, as is Captain Needles. Since, technically, this manor is not within Eyris, I'm sure you are free to stay here. Once I learn more about this case, I may call you again. In the meantime, you are dismissed! Guards, help these people away."

There would certainly be some outbursts. Rogvald did not care. He could do as he pleased. Anything foul said could be dealt with by a much more strict punishment. Once more, whether it was seen as so or not, he had given them a gift. He turned a paper, now almost at the very last one, then banged the gabble. "I call forth the wyvern scout, Mihira!" He glanced about and then saw an orange haired girl tip-toe forward. Great, she was probably another silly girl just like that shorter one. Rogvald looked down at the charges, blinked, then back at the girl. He repeated. The room remained silent as Rogvald shook his head and raised his brows. "You... are Mihira? Unbelievable. Do you know why you were called up here, dear girl?" He had asked very kindly, but that was the last calm tone the girl would hear from him.

"Because you are utterly worthless!!" he suddenly shouted. "You are the one that flew into Sentria last autumn! You were sent to search, not to leave Learania's borders! Or were you?! Did your former ruler put you up to it?! My word, do you understand the ramifications of your actions in the least?! Sentria declared war because they say we invaded them! An army was sent to Sentria because of the report you gave! You flew into their land!! Mordache declared war because of what we did to Sentria!! YOU, STUPID GIRL, STARTED THIS WHOLE BLOODY WAR!! HOW DO YOU PLEAD?!"

I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Just like that, they received their sentence. The others hadn't even been able to speak yet. What Rei said had made rogvald pretty mad. But it was true. Nils and Tibarn had been involved. But the thought of the guild being disbanded because of their involvement was chilling. If asked, Abel would say Rei was lying. It was annoying that Rei had even tried to get Nils in trouble. Some friend he was!

But banished?! Really? At hearing this, Abel stood still, refusing to go. "But.... but there's a war going on!" he called out. "Nowhere is safe outside the walls of Eyris...! You can't do this!" A guard grabbed his arm and began to pull him out. "Bandits could have invaded everywhere by now, for all we know! You're sending us out to get killed!" He looked around frantically. "Please...!" The guard dragged him to the back of the room and pulled him through the doorway. "Alihi...!"

The paladin listened carefully to the pleads from Abel and Rei, giving their testifies to Rogvald. Although the Dame Knight wasn't sure when it had happened, she tried her best to understand what had happened during that event. So far, two people had given two different affects of what Asami did to them. It was quite complicated to understand how the affect worked. After all, she had never experienced the same way as the others did.

It was then that Rei starting to shout about Nils. This surprised the paladin as the Druid pointed out. What was Rei trying to do? Was he trying to get his friend into trouble while making himself looked as innocent as he could be? How dared he do that to his friend. A friend should try to help each other out, not tried to get each other into trouble.

But before Isadora could confront the Druid, Rogvald banged his gabble to get the court into order. Once the room was quiet, a wave of bewilderment flooded on her when she heard what the adviser said. What? There were no information about the crew being involved in the events that happened? Isadora thought shockingly.

How could it be? It was impossible. She thought for sure there were reports about Tibarn and Nils being involved in the Asami incident. How could it not be? Was it another one of Rath's work? The paladin was unsure, but she had to agree with what Rogvald had said. It was becoming more complex and misleading. There was something odd about these trials. Isadora knew well that the trials were injustice from the way he was giving out sentences to them. But to hear that the crew were not involved in this? It was an outraged.

When she heard that Rogvald was still investigating about the cases with Madriana, Razevi, and Tura, the paladin let out a relief sigh. Thanked Saint Elimine, it seemed Rath had managed to cover the cases up. She was afraid that he would call forth Renault or herself if the events had come, accusing them of what had happened in the certain events. How the nomad managed to do it? The paladin wasn't sure. It somehow felt like the nomad had foresee what was about to happen and tried to cover up the facts to make sure that the guild wouldn't be disband. Although the Dame Knight was glad that she wasn't going to be put on trial, it seemed that Rath was unable to keep the guild together. That old git had managed to find the loophole to disband them.

After the adviser gave the verdict to the people, which the paladin was outraged from what he did, Rogvald called forth his next victim. Isadora arched her eyebrow when she heard Mihira's name. Vaida's personal trainer? Why would Rogvald call her? The paladin knew that Mihira did an excellent job in the guild, including what happened recently. What could she had done to put herself in the stand? But when Rogvald explained why she was brought for, the paladin was in shock.

Rogvald was blaming Mihira for the war they were in all because she accidentally disobeyed an order? It's an outrage. The paladin knew Mihira didn't mean to disobey Vaida's order. However, if it wasn't for Mihira, they wouldn't know where Amara would be held up.

Fueled with anger, Isadora marched forth to Rogvald and leaned over. She then spoke in a low but vile tone to the adviser. "Adviser Rogvald, how dare you blame her about the war we're in. The girl didn't mean to cross over the border. But if it weren't for her, a mother of the kidnapped child would still be worried about her child's whereabout. Are you saying that the accidental disobedience is far worse than the concern of the child's welfare?"

The paladin would testify against Rogvald from what he was trying to do to Mihira, but she had to be careful with her choice of words. She couldn't inform him who kidnapped Amara. That would lead to the Razevi case that Rogvald was trying to investigate. If she told him about that certain case, all of Rath's work would be all but nothing. If she didn't want Mihira to get the worse verdict, then the Dame Knight had to be cautious from Rogvald's nosy investigation about the Razevi case.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.A slender finger raised to the mouth of worried looking girl. Mihira had been watching, but so much was going on, she couldn't really keep up with it all. She had hoped to find Heath at the coronation, but that didn't happen. Then she was given a letter that requested her to come to the manor. She had never gone to Fefga Manor before, but she heard the stories about how it was always used by the guild and soldiers as a place of refuge, or for parties, or if morphs took over, or if a dead king came back to life and nearly froze everyone to death... okay, you get it. So, when asked to come, albeit very forceful, Mihira thought it would be nice. She wanted some good memories from the manor, too. There would be people there... people that could maybe become her friends.

She did not expect it to be like it was. So many people were being thrown in jail... When that girl was accused of murder and was sent to prison, Mihira nearly lost control of her emotions. When people cried, it began to make her cry. She just couldn't help it.

The more the trial progressed, the more Mihira became scared. Why was she asked to come? Not everyone was... And then Captain Needles was called forward, which made Mihira gasp lightly. She was right to worry for Needles. Mihira felt so helpless. It wasn't fair. She had a lot of respect for the captain, like she did for... well, most of the others, anyway.

She watched the captain be led out and didn't hear at first when her own name was called. But when she realized that it had, Mihira suddenly felt lightheaded. A pulse ran through her head. Slowly, she got to her feet and took baby steps towards the advisor. He was so intimidating. She feared him. She held her arm tightly against her body like it would somehow make her feel more protected. But really, she didn't know what to do, where to stand, how to act, anything. So she stood still and tried not to move and maybe she wouldn't do anything wrong.

At the question of her identity, Mihira nodded. At the next question, the girl slowly shook her head as she looked up at the old man with big worried eyes. And then she was yelled at, so she cringed. The man kept yelling at her and yelling at her! She didn't shake. She was too frightened to shake! She tensed up and tried hard just to not pass out. She only stared at him like she had been stunned. When he finished, water began to well up in Mihira's eyes. She opened her mouth slightly and her lips shook uncontrollably. The words had hit her like a crashing building. "I-I.... ...I......" So many thoughts were running through the girl's head. Was he right? Did she really cause this war? She knew she had disobeyed orders when she flew into Sentria, but she did it so that a girl could be saved. By helping to save that little girl's life, did she really start the war? The way the man said it, it made perfect sense. She was guilty. She was guilty. She started the war. What she did led to so much death. It was all her fault. Mihira was not strong in any sense of the word. She really was worthless. "I.... I-I.... ....I.... th...... I....!" Tears began to slide down her cheek.

User Image"...That's ENOUGH!!" came a sudden shout from behind the girl accused. Vaida swiftly rose to her feet and scowled at the advisor. She could not sit back anymore. When he called Mihira forward and said that she started the war, that was something Vaida would not tolerate! This time, Vaida could do something to save one of her soldiers.

"I sent her! That's right, she was acting under my orders!" It was somewhat of a lie, but Vaida was good at lying. "As her commanding officer, I take full responsibility for her actions! Whatever punishment you had in mind for her, I will take it in her place!" What she said could get Mihira off the hook, but Vaida needed more. She knew the geezer would try to still punish the girl. "Furthermore, she was not just acting on my command... I threatened her to do what she did. I knew what could go wrong, but I forced her to, threatening that I would kill her if she didn't! I am guilty of this crime. No other. You will give the punishment to me!"

We're part of a story, part of a tale...
... Sometimes beautiful, sometimes insane...

♫ ◄NILS► ♫

He had been there the whole time, wearing the same shocked expression and keeping himself as hidden as he could, taking his height to his advantage. One by one, he watched people that he knew getting sent off for things that they had done but were receiving punishment that was far too harsh in his mind. The officer, stripped of his title . . . his nephew, Blossom, and another, sent off to prison . . . the mage, also sent off to prison . . . and then, there were those involved with the incident with Asami. As soon as he had heard the first few names, he had steeled his mind to walk up and face whatever he was given.

But his name was never read off. And neither was Tibarn's. Horror filled his face as he watched Rei, his best friend, alongside others, stand before Rogvald. The bard was excluded from the group, and there was only one reason he could think of for that.

It all came down to his title.

He was almost relieved when the druid called him out. And he was about to speak up when some rather harsh banging sounds filled the room, silencing any attempts before they could leave his throat.

And, just like that, the group that he should have been was exiled from Eyris in the middle of the war.

Guilt consumed the poor boy, but he bit his tongue. He couldn't speak up; he was part of the Crew . . . he was supposed to behave and accept what was going on. Rogvald and James were the new leaders, after all.

But then, Vaida spoke up, and he finally realized that he couldn't remain silent any longer. "HOLD ON!!" Naturally, attention focused on him, if only for a bit; his voice was certainly distinguishable, carrying itself like a child's but holding much more wisdom.

He forced himself forward and out, standing before Rogvald. His expression was rather calm, not showing an inkling of the nervousness he had inside. "First of, before I say anything else . . . I formally resign from the crew." A few seconds passed, most likely filled with voices, before he spoke again. "Secondly, I'd like to apologize for interrupting this trial with my words. I was always a bad crew-member here . . . probably the worst. But, in light of the accusation that Rei said, pointing me out to be as guilty as he is . . . well. He's correct. I cannot deny my guilt, and I will not allow you to overlook it." The bard exhaled quietly, catching his breath for a moment. He knew his husband was around; he had seen the dragon applaud as his nephew was escorted out. It wasn't easy for him to say these words with that in mind.

At the same time, he knew he had to. "So, as Vaida said . . . you will give the punishment to me as well."

(( This post exists due to Rei calling Nils out (which I gave him the okay to do) and then realizing that it would not be IC for the little bard to just stand around. Until further notice, this will be the only one I'll be making, unless Rogvald denies Nils' request. ))

... No one remembers how it began...

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words.

xxxxxWhen Isadora came over, Rogvald looked at her like she was crazed. He replied in the same low tone she had given him. "Maybe I wasn't clear, Lady Isadora, but this 'accident' is precisely what caused the war! So if you ask me if that is worse than one kidnapped child, then the answer shall be yes every time! Now scoot back and know your place!"

xxxxxA shout interrupted the quarrel and Rogvald looked out to Vaida, who had taken to her feet. What she said amazed him. He didn't really believe her, but then a fabulous little idea crept into his conniving head. He contained the snicker that wished to come out because of it.

xxxxxAs he was about to respond, another shout came out. Really? Did nobody understand what it meant to have order? Rogvald looked to see who shouted and saw the crew member, Nils, step forward. He listed to what the boy had to say. He had been clear of charges. He would not have received any punishment. But instead, he gave up everything. Truly, that bard... was stupid.

xxxxx"...Very well." Rogvald started. "Since you have come forward, Nils, you are also banished." He turned to the Dragon Lady. "As for you, Commander, I accept your request to take the punishment. You are now a criminal of war! ....And so I hereby sentenced you... to death!"

xxxxxThe gabble banged. "Guards, bind the former Commander and seize her weapons, then escort these three out." He watched as they were led away and covered his grin with his papers. He shifted through them and finally came to the last one. "Ah. Finally, we have reached the final case for today. I call forth the former captain, Rath! Guards, bring him!"

xxxxxAt long last, it was the final case. It was the main reason for the very trial. This was the one Rogvald had been waiting for. He waited for the man to be brought before him. The nomad was bound, naturally, for he was suspected to be dangerous. He was already a prisoner. Rogvald looked down with a contented gaze. "You... are charged with conspiring with Mordache, and the murder of Lady Nino. It is my belief that when you abandoned this country the first time, you went to Mordache and schemed. When you came back, Nino suddenly fell ill and, oh look, you're in charge. ...Strange. You have deceived everyone. And when asked what happened to Nino... you do not deny killing her. Could it be that if you did deny it, you would be lying? If I'm.. not mistaken, nomads are not supposed to lie. If you can truthfully say you did not kill her, then do so! Save yourself! I give you this one chance to do so! Tell me, nomad, how do you plead?"

I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

The assassin paid no heed to the crazy-hippy-man and instead watched as two apparently high-ranking people attempted to save their subordinates.. And fail.

"Hmf, what fools," Volke said quietly to himself. "It's obvious this man is out to get everyone.. I'm glad I'm new here." The enigmatic man continued to silently watch.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. As Rath was led through the room, he did not look at any of the people who had come. He stood straight and looked down the whole way. One of the guards kept pushing him onward, while the other was reluctant to even do his job. They were symbolic of how split the people were about Rath's guilt.

Once Rath was before Rogvald, he looked up at the man only to shut his eyes and look back away. The entire trial was meaningless. It was held so that the man could arrest all he could at once. All of it was Rath's fault. It was happening because of his lack of action.

Rogvald gave Rath the chance to, as he said, 'save himself', but there was no need. Rath would not talk. There was nothing he was able to say about that. But he did have a message for the guild. "...I have nothing to say about these accusations against me. All I have to say is for the members of the guild." He paused a moment. "...I am deserving of my punishment. These cases are all ones I did not act upon. Maybe if I had... you all would not have had to face such pain. I do not ask for forgiveness. I am not deserving of it. All I ask is that you be aware of what you represent. If you act in a way that is unbecoming, do not do so in the name of the guild." Maybe some would understand just what he really meant by that. He looked up at Rogvald. "I have nothing more to say. Do with me what you will."
