Xiaoshi laughed at his choice of wording about the spot they where relaxing in but none the less walked into the shaded spot of the forest. Even though she was from a sun tribe she often just liked wating in the shade. "well I'm sure she knows that, but its also what helps her be strong too. So dont make too much of it."

Esus smiled at the pretty female; he was really starting to like her laughter. And he was very glad that she seemed to be relaxing a little more, rather than stressing about everything in her tribe. He waited for her to choose her spot before laying his head on his paws; tilting his head so that he could still look at her.
"I'm sure it is. Although, sometimes I wish she'd let me help too. I don't like it when someone in my family is having troubles." Esus shrugged. "Still, I try not to pry." He grinned a little wickedly. "Piss her off so that she lets off some steam, absolutely. But pry? Never."

Xiaoshi blinked barely catching herself from blushing at Esus's smile and looked down to a patch of reeds over to the side. "I think that's the dilemma for all family members...except parents they have permission to pry, at least for a certain amount of time" Xiaoshi pointed out. "But I dont profess to be a subject on your sister but if she really does love you I think that when she really needs your help she'll come and ask for it. Then again I'm not your sister so who knows."

Xiaoshi suddenly became very interested in studying the ground and Esus wondered if he'd embarrassed her somehow. He hoped not, but if she was still talking to him so maybe he didn't.
"My delima is more: pry, help her, and have her mad at me. She gets scary when she's mad at me." He made a pained face, putting his ears down and looking all pitiful before smiling again. "There's no question that she loves me, just like I love her. Even if she does knock me around some."
"I think you're pretty spot on. Actually, I just think you're pretty." He said. He sucked in his breath and his eyes widened a little. Did he just say that? Out loud?

"ah well thats like most....." Xiaoshi trailed off and actually did blush this time looking over at Esus. Of course she went straight back to staring at her reeds. They had become very very interesting all of a sudden. ' I'm pretty... he thinks I'm pretty. Doesnt he get to see all those gorgeous girl phims... or guy phims. Well he called me pretty so maybe guy phims really wouldnt fit, but then again he could be... focus Xiaoshi. Focus!' She thought. "Uh well, um, thank you" she smiled finally deciding to just go with it.

Even though Esus was in a silent panic, he found the vixen's blush to be quite charming. He rather drawn out silence on the other hand, had him sitting on tenterhooks. What was probably only a few seconds was feeling like an eternity as he waited to see if she'd send him away for being too forward.
Xiaoshi seemed to shake herself before smiling and thanking him. He let out the breath he had been holding, glad she wasn't going to run after his little slip. "You're very welcome." He said softly. He was quiet, not knowing where to go from there, and besides, it was his turn to have a private freak out.
Esus was now in the unenviable position of all males when they're trying to figure out a female. Thank you was very...middle of the road. Did she think he was merely flattering her? Did she think he liked her? Did she like him back? How in the diety's name was he going to find out?

Xiaoshi went slightly silent again thinking obviously about the whole pretty business. he wondered exactly what Esus meant by that. Was it a 'i complement every girl I see' type of pretty or a 'I like you and think your pretty complement'. Xiaoshi was definitely confused. She didnt get people calling her pretty. Well she took that back that one young phim she had gone racing with had said she was pretty or something like that... except for she knew his was of the former type.

The silence was stretching and Esus was starting to get antsy, not knowing what to say. He felt heat suffuse his face, knowing it was his fault for blurting things out. He really, really couldn't take the silence anymore and jumped to his feet.
"Xiaoshi, would you like something to eat?" He asked, a little lamely. He was somehow thinking that a little wooing wouldn't hurt his case if he accidently blurted anything else out without thinking. He couldn't think of any reason for her to like him so quickly, but maybe if he could somehow show her that he liked her....

"Um eat... well" Xiaoshi started of course her stomach decided to answer for her and growled hungrily. "I guess eating wouldnt be so bad. Maybe some fish would be good since the river is still in view." She wasnt too surprised after all she had spent most of the day trying to get un lost.

Esus heard Xiaoshi's stomach growl hungrily and smiled gently, nudging her a little to help her up. "Fish it is, milady." He said, turning to head towards the river. "I haven't fished before, but how hard can it be?" He asked. He looked into the water and saw how quickly the fish darted about.
"Er...well, maybe you could teach me how to fish?" He asked, throwing a rather sheepish smile at his companion. He was of the idea that it was better to ask for help than look like an idiot.

Xiaoshi chuckled a bit and shook her head. "well I would think that phims probably have a different way of fishing. Probably something like what eagles and other birds do. Us poor land foxes hunt a bit like bears." Xiaoshi stated waiting until a fish jumped out of the water. She darted out with her jaws and caught the fish. After killing it and depositing it on the bank she turned back to the phim. "Of course thats at least how I learned was watching bears."

Esus watched the ease with which Xiaoshi caught the fish and turned to bat at the water, watching the fish dart around. "I've never fished before; flying or otherwise. I did see a mountain lion fishing once, but I didn't get close enough to learn from her."
A fish suddenly jumped in front of him and he snapped at it, mostly out of instinct. The bank crumbled a little and he ended up with his front paws in the river, blinking owlishly at his predicament. "Ha, oops." He said, having missed the fish as well. Perhaps I should try that while I'm actually paying attention."

"that would probably be wise. After all you where lucky this time. The bank could have given away and you could have gone barraling all the way into the river. You where very lucky it was just your paws" Xiaoshi explained.

"It's a good thing I can swim then." He said, smiling largly. "But it would be very uncomfortable being all wet again, now that our walk dried me off." He scooted back up the bank and licked the excess water off of his paws.
"Thanks for your concern, though, sweetheart." He said, giving Xiaoshi another wicked grin before turning back to lick his paws dry. "You should eat. I'll figure out how to catch one of these elusive creatures." He said cheerfully, staring back down into the water again.

Xiaoshi nodded before turning back to her own fish. Inwardly she was a little miffed. 'sweetheart....?' she thought wanting to shake her head. It was actually one of her pet peeves to be called that but esus had been nothing but nice so she guess she would let him get away with that this once. "good luck then"
