Solstice looked at her bother and sighed. "I will do my best to have a good time...you know I will. If for no other reason rather than to have Cassie have a father to grow up with.." She watched her daughter being spun in the air, it was so nice to see her girl happy. "I cannot believe how happy she is with you. You are so good to us, Polaris..."

He frowned down at his sister, then reached over to muss her hair. "Solstice, you have to cheer up. I realize it might be hard, but Cassie certainly won't have a father in her life if you spend all your time being gloomy and hiding here. So don't just do your best - however hard it is, make it happen." He bounced the child on his hip a bit, to keep her entertained.

Solstice blinked. "I am not overly depressed my brother. I am trying, really" She rose from her seat on the ground, stretching and shaking out her hair. "You name the time and place and I will be there and you can introduce me to anyone you want.." She laughed and looked to her daughter. "What do you think Cassie? Should mommy take a risk and see what sort of guy Uncle Polaris can dig up for her?"
Cassie giggled and looked at her uncle, then her mother. "I think Mommy needs to smile more, Uncle makes you smile...GO for it!!"

Polaris grinned. "Wonderful, sister! And it doesn't have to be a 'date', you need to make new friends as well. I actually already have a friend in mind, who hasn't been any luckier than you in finding his one and only. Even if there's no special spark, I'm sure the two of you will find common ground, and you'll have another fae to visit to get you out of the house." He hugged Cassie. "And I'll be happy to take your rugrat for the time. I'm sure the two of us can come up with things to entertain us." He kissed the top of his niece's head.

The female blinked and gave her brother a look. "Ok, fine...not a date...and you already have someone in mind? Really?" She laughed. "Alright, whatever you have planned i will try once, if it doesn't work out or if something goes terribly wrong I will just...I will just have to give up..." She sighed and looked at her daughter.
Cassie blinked and kissed her uncle's cheek. She giggling and hugging him tightly. "I think Mommy needs to go have fun, yes...it is will make her smile more."

He shook his head. "No, no 'just once', no giving up, no ultimatums. You won't find someone hiding in your little cottage, and the world isn't out to get you. Besides, you have to set a good example for your daughter, and how is she going to learn to deal with other faes if you never do? I know you're still hurting, but you'll heal faster if you give it a chance."

Solstice sighed, and lowered her head, nodding. "Ok..fine...a couple of times then. But if...if something like this last time happens, I do not know what I will do, Polaris..." She gave him serious eyes. She was a very easily mislead kat, she would fall and fall hard if given the chance and it was through that she she could get hurt, and very badly. "So....tell me about this friend of yours that you have in mind...is he nice?"

"And if any kat should hurt you like that again, I'll have his hide," he vowed, no doubt in his voice. "Anyway... the friend I'm thinking of, he's a baddie, but he's actually not a bad kat. He's a bit of a 'black sheep' to his family, doesn't get along with them because the rest of them are that nasty. A lot of people judge him by his race, and don't give him a chance. I think you'll like him, though, sis. He's a nice guy. Not much more luck with ladies than you've had with men, though." He gave her a crooked smile. "And he doesn't even have his kids to comfort him as you have Cassie, as they all take after the rest of his family."

The female listened as her brother described this male to her, he did sound like the interesting sort, if nothing else. "I am not discriminant...a baddie is the same as a pure in my opinion, though I do think a pure may be stretching my patience." She laughed and nodded to her brother. "He seem like he may be a good find, but who is to know till I see him face to face, yes?" She ran her paw through her hair. "How is it you know this baddie, Pol?"

Polaris gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Actually, because we were chasing the same piece of tail. She ended up picking him... and then dumping him after they'd gotten a pair of eggs. Afraid of commitment, or at least, that's the way he told it. Sounds like I got sort of lucky. He really is a nice guy, though, and I think you'll like him." He looked up, noticing the sun starting to lower over the trees. "And it looks like I should be heading home soon," he mentioned, regret in his voice. "How does this weekend sound, Sol? Which day would you prefer?"

Solstice looked to the setting sun, she sighing and looking to the small child in her brother's arms, Cassie having fallen asleep some time ago. "Yes...I suppose it is time to part, my brother. Yes...Yes this weekend does sound wonderful. I think, perhaps early in the weekend. He sounds like...an interesting sort. Though I am not certain I like the fact you called her a piece of tail, Polaris...females are more than just that to him I hope.." She reached out to him and took her daughter into her arms. "All you need do is call on me and I will be ready. Though I do not know what he and I shall do on this....date?" She laughed.

He somewhat reluctantly handed back his niece. "It's just a phrase, sister. And I never got to know her well enough to know if she was more than that." He shrugged. "And I'll leave it up to him to come up with something to do, he probably knows more things to do than you, given how little you get out." He gave her a bit of a crooked smile. "Anyway, I'll visit in a couple days and let you know when you should come down to the village. You can stop by my place to drop off Cassie, and then I'll give you directions to where you can meet Ishmael."
((Jumping forward to the weekend, if you don't mind?))
Polaris jumped up when he heard a knock on the door, grinning a bit to himself as he practically bounced over to open it. "Good to see you made it, sister!" He winked at his niece. "And you too, Cassie." He grinned at Solstice. "Ready for your big date?" he asked, his tone clearly teasing and his good humor evident.

Solstice had infact gone to see her brother that weekend, she having walked into town, Casseiopeia at her side, the little girl bouncing and gigglnig as they stood at the door. It was when it opened that the small child jumped into her uncle's arms. "Uncle Pol!!" She giggled and messed his hair before kissing his cheek. "I missed you, Mommy and I have been spending the days playing games and reading books." She nodded.
Solstice laughed and watched her child wtih the man. "Cassie, one would think you love your uncle more than me, the way you act." She looked to her brother. "I am as ready as I can ever be...made up, hair washed and brushed...what more is there?" She teased.

"Ooof!" Polaris took a couple steps backwards, pretending that his little niece had almost knocked him over. "Careful, Cassie, you're almost too big to do that!" he joked, settling the girl on his hip again. "And you're upsetting your mother, letting her know I'm your favorite."
He turned back to his sister. "You washed your hair? Then it must be a special occasion indeed!" he replied with a laugh. "Your date suggested a little café called 'Wholly Crepe' in the main part of town. Just follow this road back, and turn right onto the shopping street. When you get there, tell the staff you're looking for Ishmael." He gestured down the street with his free hand the direction she should head. "Now get going, you don't want to miss lunch," he finished with a laugh.Ishmael was sitting at an outdoor table at the café, waiting for his "blind date". He glanced at the clock, and had to suppress a rueful smile as only a few minutes had passed since the last time. In front of him sat a bouquet of flowers, a nice generic one because he hadn't actually met the woman before, so he didn't know what to expect. All he had from Polaris was her name - Solstice - that she was a faefox, and that she was his sister. So he was a little nervous, not sure what to expect.

Cassie smiled and kissed her uncle lightly before looking to her mother and leaning over to kiss her cheek as well. "Good luck mommy! Don't scare him away." She nodded and giggled before hugging her uncle again.
Solstice smiled and shook her head at her daughter. "I promise I will not scare him away on purpose, sweetie." She kissed her daughter and nodded. "Thanks Pol, I don't know what I can do for you in return, but this...this is kind..." She turned and followed his instructions to the cafe. She looked around, seeing man others sitting there, she having to go to the hostess and ask where her 'date' was. She could not help but be nervous, hers digits fumbling through her hair.
