Sin turned as he heard a nickname he only let one fox call him, spotting Ixen. He greeted the male with a nod, ears twitching as he smelled the scent of lavender as well, a scent that always made him think of a certain fox. He got up and approached the male that had called him father, Ixen.
"Yes?"
The second Yuki heard that voice he threw himself forward, practically falling over. The grew and purple fox padded straight up to Sin, a mistake for any other fox that few would make. Sin's eyes widened, and he took a step backwards, snarling at the fox. Yuki stopped his advance, horror rushing through his heart.
He had forgotten.
'That can't be him...' Sin couldn't believe his eyes as he stared at the small male, relaxing. He took a few steps closer, eyes narrowing.
"Yuki?" He questioned. Yuki leapt forward, nodding hastily and rubbing his muzzle against Sin's neck. Sin stared at Ixen, allowing the touch, something not even Ixen had gotten away with. "Where?" He was not attacking Yuki, not even showing distaste for such affection. This was not a Sin that the tribe knew.

Ixen felt a small pain in his heart when he watched Yuki nuzzle Sin. Sin would never have let Ixen do such a thing. Ixen felt jealous and happy for Yuki at the same time.
Ixen quickly looked down so that Sin or Yuki wouldn't see the hurt in his eyes. Yuki was at Celebrations Pond. He looked a little out of sorts so I.. uh helped him. Ixen internally flinched. Although he deeply cared for his adoptive father he couldn't help but imagine Sin punishing him for helping a strange fox and not forcing him to join the tribe. Ixen didn't mention all the care he put forward to Yuki. That would make it seem like Yuki was a pathetic fox who needed looking after, and that wasn't the image Ixen wanted Sin to have of Yuki after all this time. If Yuki wanted to tell Sin everything that happened that was up to him. No I didn't make him join the tribe, but since he was looking for you I think he might stick around for a while. At least Ixen hoped Yuki would stay. I doubt the other tribe members will object outright if you introduce him to them. Still I brought him to you out here in the woods rather then at he base, because I didn't want him getting hurt like he might have if I brought him in as a friend only.
Ixen still worried about reprisal from jealous members of the tribe who might want to supplant Sin by getting at his brother. Maybe Ixen should bring up his idea about introducing Yuki as his mate rather then Sin's half-brother to prevent that? After all Ixen having a mate now wouldn't attract much attention or envy, and Yuki would be protected because as far as everyone in the tribe knew Ixen was Sin's adoptive son. Not close enough to threaten Sin with a death threat of killing Yuki, but still close enough to get protection from others by Sin because of a relationship with Ixen. NO!! Ixen's mind screamed out that Sin would kill him if he brought up that stunt/joke and Sin found out what Ixen had done.
Ixen pushed his claws into the dirt just slightly in self annoyance.
(oo yay I got to post Ixen's though process up! looking back up at the post I make Ixen seem like a deep thinker in the intricacies of tribe politics.. at least that's what it seems like to me. maybe that just applies to Yuki's position though.. *ponders*)

(( Lol. This tribe is going to be very interesting. ))
Sin nodded at Ixen, backing up once Yuki was done with his joy filled fest he was having. Yuki had traveled a long way to be here, he could tell by how different he looked. He was small still, he had always been, but he could see the raw paws. He could also see how worn out the male looked, as if he had not slept proper in many seasons. Maybe he hadn't.
"Why were you here?" He wanted to celebrate, but that would show a weakness. Sin could not allow a weakness to show currently, not while the tribe was still feeling one another out. Not while the members had not bonded with one another yet. This tribe was full of mine fields that had not yet settled together, in due time it would. Right now, he needed to wait. But, Ixen was not a threat. He knew this. Ixen would never betray him, would he? Ixen was family as far as he was concerned, just like Yuki.
Yuki looked taken aback, frowning. Why? Wasn't it obvious? He had been searching for Sin, wasn't Sin aware of that? "I was looking for you." Yuki answered. Sin's face let out a brief smile, a rarer sight for him than Yuki. Hope fluttered across the younger brothers face. Sin hadn't forgotten, he hadn't thrown him aside. He was playing tough, that was it.
Sin frowned, realizing the same thing Ixen had. Yuki was in danger. He was weaker than the others, strong willed for sure, stubborn as a boulder too, but weaker. He glanced at Ixen, showing appreciation, another emotion he always hid. It was good Ixen had brought his brother here. Yuki would have been in danger if he had been brought to the camp.

(yes it will be.. and it'll give me head ache keeping up.. but it'll be worth it.) Ixen looked up in time to see Sin glance his way and show some appreciation in his features. Ixen nearly fell over. That was not something Ixen almost ever saw.
Taking a bit of heart Ixen decided to talk to Sin about perhaps passing Yuki off as something other then 'Sin's half-brother'. Father, you know introducing Yuki as your relative might cause some friction within the tribe as it is now? Perhaps you could introduce him as something else that would let him still remain close to you, but not be as vulnerable? Ixen was certainly hoping that Yuki was paying attention because what was said he would affect them both greatly. Ixen purposefully got up and walked next to Yuki. He then sat down and leaned over tapping Yuki in the shoulder with his head before straightening back up and looking at Sin meaningfully. Sin would understand the gesture far faster then any other fox would, he would also grasp the implications faster too. Ixen swallowed and tensed waiting to be annihilated by Sin for suggesting such a thing.

((Lol.))
Sin did catch it, eyes narrowing. Ixen had a point, it was risky enough for others to know that Ixen was his adopted son. The few things Ixen had protecting him was that he himself was strong and could most likely protect himself. Yuki though, Yuki was not a fighter. He did understand what he was implying, and in any other circumstance he would have destroyed anyone else. But this was Ixen. Ixen knew how Sin thought, and he was usually right, after all he was raised by Sin.
Yuki jumped when Ixen touched him, looking side to side at the two. What were they talking about? Why was Sin looking at Ixen like that?
Sin nodded, giving Ixen a look that said he was not pleased with this idea at all, but he accepted it. Everyone knew not to touch Ixen, unless they wanted their throats to be ripped out by Sin. If Ixen...
"Yuki. Do you want to stay with me?" He questioned the fox. Yuki stared at him in shock, nodding quickly. "That means you must join this tribe." He said to the fox.
Yuki wanted to be with Sin. Why else would he have traveled this far? But he felt if he said yes that something he would not be to pleased about would happen. Still, he nodded.

(Yay Ixen's alive and not broken into tiny pieces. sorry this is so long but the 2nd paragraph is nothing more then explaining what Ixen thought before.)
Ixen shivered at the look Sin gave him, but it was better then attacked; which is what Ixen had expected to happen.
Ixen looked to Yuki and tried to find words to explain the situation to the gray fox. Yuki, do you remember when I was joking with you before at the pond about passing off as my mate to other tribe members so that you wouldn't get hurt? Ixen didn't dare look at Sin when he mentioned teasing Yuki, although he felt that he might be hearing and possibly feeling a backlash later. He continued trying to explain without waiting for Yuki to answer. Well, we might actually have to do just that. As Sin's half-brother people who want to hurt Sin will attack you to get at him. Ixen hoped the idea of getting Sin hurt by this made Yuki understand and hopefully accept this. By passing you off to the others as my mate, you will still be close enough to Sin that spending time with him won't seem odd. You will be protected both by myself and you get protection from others by Sin because you are mated to me, at least that's what the others will think. The other members of the tribe know that I'm Sin's adoptive son so they won't hurt my mate to get at Sin, you would be safe. Ixen had butterflies in his stomach, and he wasn't sure if they were fear of Sin or joy that Yuki might be staying.
If anyone tried to hurt you they would be punished by both Sin and myself. For the first time in his entire life Ixen gave a cruel smile that reflected the fox that raised him. The tribe magician Odi had once noted that he thought Ixen could a monster if given the right circumstance, Odi was right. Ixen wasn't normally violent or mean but if something he cared about was at stake he would end the existence of the ones who threatened Ixen's loved ones. There were many plants that were paralytics in the forest and there were so many things you could do to a paralyzed fox, especially if they deserved it, knowing they felt every bit of it.
Moving his mind away from murderous thoughts, Ixen gave Yuki a much kinder smile. No need to scare Yuki. Although for this to work, we would have to get you to stop jumping every time I touch you. Ixen gave Yuki a poke in the shoulder with his paw. The poke was barely a tap after all Sin was right next to the two foxes, and Ixen didn't want to make Sin any madder then he figured his father already was.

((Tis okay. Actually, this is more like how I respond in roleplay's over PM. Lol.))
Oh, Sin was not pleased in the least. This was Yuki they were talking about, he being "mated" to anyone annoyed him beyond belief. However, this was a necessary game that needed to be played. Yuki would be in danger, and he could not always be there. If he wanted the fox he had worried over to be in the tribe, tactics had to be pulled until the tribe was an actual family.
Yuki jumped once more, you would think he was the younger one by his reactions. He scanned the two, frowning. He would so anything for Sin, even if it meant ending a life. But this was ridiculous! He had never even had a crush, and all of a sudden he was expected to pretend to have a mate? What would happened if he fell for someone?
Yet Ixen had a point. Sin's safety was important, and if he had to sacrifice himself to make sure he was safe, well then he would. Still, that didn't mean he wouldn't try and find a way around it. Anyways, when Ixen touched him he felt...odd. As if he was warm from the touch. "W-What happens if I find a someone I wish to mate with one day?"
"Would you risk their life as well as your own? Maybe when the tribe becomes loyal to one another, but not at this delicate stage."

((Ah I see I’m new enough at RPing that I am still developing a style. I usually just RP the way the other person is I think. Storm and Demon have long descriptive posts so I try to match it, I fail but I still try. Lisa post short and to the point, so I try to match that.))
Sin had raised Ixen to be strong and understand the intricacies that could happen in a developing tribe. After all if a developing tribe started encroaching on Cruor land it would just be easier to have the tribe self destruct then fight them in some cases. Ixen knew this is kind of political ploy would work and keep Yuki safe until the tribe steadied out. Part of him though liked the idea of spending more time with Yuki. Ixen felt happy around Yuki.
Ixen couldn’t help but feel a small twinge when Yuki mentioned finding his own mate. Ixen wasn’t sure why this bothered him, but it left a chill in the lower part of his spine. Well, if you find a mate then we could deal with it then. We could say that you and I are in a rough patch and you are seeing another fox, or something like that. All I’d have to do is act like a love-struck rejected fox and make sure that the fox you like knows about the situation and we could make it work. Ixen didn’t like this idea at all, but what could he do if Yuki truly fell in love? He didn’t want the grey fox to suffer alone if he fell in love. For now though you are going have to pretend to be my mate. Will you be ok with that?

((Same here usually. Sometimes though I let it all out with certain roleplays, usually ones I'm highly interested in. But, post as much as you want, as short or long. I don't mind. =3 ))
Yuki wanted to say no, he really did. He did not want this. He was a shy fox, strong willed and loyal, but shy in his own way. He could not imagine what this would result in. Would he expected to be affectionate? He wasn't ready for that, was he? He had never had someone he had even crushed on, he wasn't sure how a love-struck fox was supposed to act like.
Then again, this was Ixen. A fox he had barely met, but he felt odd when the fox spoke to him. Strange, a feeling different than the one he had for Sin. He couldn't pinpoint it, it was only faint right now. Only barely in existence, but he knew it was there.
He needed to do this if he wanted to be with Sin. Anyway, Ixen wasn't a bad person. He didn't mind, if it was Ixen that is. He didn't know why, but he had an unusual trust in the other. So fine, he would do this. For now.
"I-I guess."
Sin let out another smile that rarely was present on his face, nodding. Good, things were in place. He didn't feel that longing anymore, or the tugging inside him he had always felt inside the tribe, as if something was missing. Nothing was missing. He had Yuki now. He had his brother. He could protect Yuki like had had always wanted to, protect his brother from ever hurting again. The only two foxes he cared for in this way were with him now, Ixen and Yuki.
He couldn't take them back yet, they weren't prepared. Anyone could see through their disguise if they did right now. They needed to develop, to figure out how to act around one another. "You two need to polish the act then." He said, almost an order.

(I have been. I feel pretty comfortable with what I’ve been posting in this RP.)
Ixen felt his heart skip a beat. Yuki just agreed to be his mate! True it was only a façade to trick the other members of the tribe and keep Yuki save, still it meant Ixen would be able to spend more time with Yuki. Sin was right though, Yuki and Ixen needed to spend more time together and get a better feel for one another if they were going to pull this act off. Giving a quick nod to Sin to show he understood and would be taking this very seriously; Ixen then directed his attention solely on Yuki. Sin trusted him with the task of protecting Yuki, Ixen would do this to the best of his abilities. He would have shielded Yuki regardless if Sin had ordered it or not, but Sin’s order only made things more final for Ixen.
We have to stop you from flinching every time I touch you Yuki. That would be a major tip off that we aren’t really together. Ixen took a moment to think about all of Yuki’s actions he had seen up to that point. Yuki was quite, that could easily be ignored and wasn’t really indicative of anything other than just being a quite fox. Also you shouldn’t stare at me suspiciously or embarrassed like when I brought you food. While those things could be explained in a mate it really wasn’t something Ixen really wanted to deal with, only one other issue remained. I know you miss being around Sin, but you can’t just walk up to him and nuzzle him. As my mate would be accepted spending time around him. Physical contact would be out though. Ixen stared at Yuki steadily on this last comment. He knew it would be hard on Yuki, but nuzzling Sin when even Ixen would not might get them both into trouble. You are going to have to play it silent and distant when it comes to your brother until the tribe solidifies. I know this will be tough so I’ll do the best I can to get some alone time out here in the woods like this so you two can speak freely. Is there anything I can to make this easier for you Yuki? We’ll have to spend some time out here alone working on this before we head back to base. So even if you don’t have anything now it’s ok. Let me know though if I can do anything for you. Ixen’s ears laid back softly against his head and then flipped back up into an upright position as he was thinking of all of the implications a single flaw in the ploy could cause; for the tribe, for him, for Sin, for Yuki.

Sin jerked his head to look at the two. He would need to leave them here for a few days, come back when Yuki was acquainted with Ixen. He wanted to be with Yuki, but he knew that it would be suspicious if he returned with the scent of lavender on him. Just because he couldn't smell didn't mean the other's couldn't. He hesitated, frowning before sending Ixen a very specific look. The look was a clear: 'If he gets hurt on your watch, I will kill you three times over.'
"I want you two to be by the Silence Tree in three days. No one goes there unless it is for punishment, so you shall be safe. By then, if you cannot keep the act up Yuki, you cannot join." Strict as always, something he knew Yuki was used to. He seemed to be stuck between protecting the two foxes he cared for, or his tribe. He decided in the end to return.
"I must go. I... Ixen. If anything happens to Yuki..." He let out a low warning growl, clearly speaking what he wanted to say with that growl.
Yuki wanted to protest, again. No nuzzling? But Sin was his brother. He didn't understand the point behind this, than again he had never seen the tribe before. He also didn't see why in the name of deitys he had to play this game. But he would, if only to be with Sin again. He sent a blank stare at Ixen, pouting once more. Oh god, he had to do this.

Ixen almost flinched, only his stubbornness prevented it. He knew full well how Sin would react if Yuki got hurt during this. Ixen didn’t need the look to tell him that, and he certainly didn’t need the growl. He returned Sin’s look with one of equal strength. That was something Ixen didn’t do normally, and never with Sin. The look he gave back said that he would lay down his life to protect Yuki. Just for good measure he put his sentiments into verbal form as well. Yuki will be fine, I will see to it. You need to go clear some scent off of you. Yes this was a dangerous game they were playing, but Ixen would make sure that Yuki was safe from harm even if it cost Ixen everything.
Ixen focused once more on Yuki not waiting any longer to see if Sin would leave or not. Sin was his father and tribe leader. He would know what to do and didn’t need help or advice from Ixen, Yuki did. Alright Yuki, before we start do you have any questions? Ixen swept his tail out behind him and shifted to a relaxed laying position. Yuki probably had a million questions, anything from who would do the hunting to points that he would expect in a mate to mate relationship. Ixen didn’t really want to get sore sitting the entire time.

Sin almost thanked Ixen, catching himself in the process. He watched Yuki for a few final seconds, living the joy he wanted to feel silently. It would be time to celebrate one day, just not right now. He knew Ixen would protect Yuki, but not for the reasons most would assume. Ixen was his adopted son, he knew that Ixen would never betray him without good reason, and he would follow Sin loyally. He had little to worry about with Ixen, and more with the tribe. Luckily, Yuki had barely left any scent on him, he could go and take a dip in the lake.
He didn't say goodbye, heading off to where the Celebrations Pond was. He would find some kill as well and bring it back to his tribe.
Yuki had many questions for Ixen, most he would speak of in due time. Right now he was busy trying to wrap his brain around what was happening. In two days he had gone from a lonely life of searching for a fox he had spent a life with once, to being reunited to his brother and finding a (pretend) mate? He knew this was only a disguise, but still!
"What do mates do....exactly?" His parents had been a poor example of a couple in love, and Sin had never fallen for someone while he was around. He had heard of his half sister finding a mate recently, but that did not help. Somehow, the dread he had felt was lessening, and a new emotion was fluttering inside his chest. What was this? What was happening?

Think of a mate like a family member, they look after you when your sick, help hunt, and of course most mates raise their kits together. Now since we are both males I don't think kits will be an issue right away like it could be with some couples. Ixen had a basic concepts of what a mate should do but the some of the particulars did escape him, especially since he wasn't used to hearing about male mate pairings. Ixen had heard of some male mates ending up with kits, but he didn't know how that happened. Did they drink special water or eat a certain fruit? Since he didn't want to unsettle Yuki he didn't mention his vast ignorance in this area. Instead he moved on to part of the topic he knew a bit better.
As your mate if someone threatens you, they may as well be threatening me since mates are supposed to be close emotionally. This is why Sin is letting this ploy go forward. I can protect you from the violent members of the tribe and he can step in and act too since he is my adoptive father. Also with you being weak or tired from travel recently I can help you hunt and look after you without raising any questions as to who you are and why you are allowed on Crour land. Ixen gave Yuki a friendly lick on the cheek to check his reaction. As my mate you are treated and considered one of the tribe. Next question?

Yuki listened patiently, nodding. So, that was what Sin and Ixen were talking about. A mate was supposed to be like family? Was it similar to how he cared for Sin? His parents were broken. Yuki had been raised being told he was not a man, that he was to much of a girl to be something his father would love. His father had two families that neither knew about until both sets of kits were properly raised. His father had been a bad mate, and a bad father.
Ixen lick surprised him, sending down a warm rush down his spine. He didn't jump away, his tail did flick slightly at the contact though. His heart skipped one, then two beats. 'I have to be sick. That's it.'
"O-Okay. I have another. Does that mean I have to be affectionate?"
