Shaolin I usually do them for free. I really don't have that much gold. sweatdrop And if I deperately need gold for something, I will hold an auction where I usually do end up getting 5k per edit. luaghs eheheh 5k for a edit is worth it

I honestly prefer doing my edits facing to the left. But if the occasion calls for it I will change it up. The Avs I submitted to Joe's contest a while back were facing right though. I guess it mostly depends on what base I use. Also it would depend on what aspect of the character I am showing. For example If I were to do an edit of Cloud, I would probably do him facing right, because I am not that good at shading metal, so I would try and avoid showing all of his right shoulder.

Which is better to shade with: dodge/burn or paintbrush with lighter/darker colors?
Oh and, I dunno if this is just me, but does anyone else do the basic outline of the clothes on one layer and then color on a new? ninja I only do it cause I'm afraid of screwing up the lines. *has been using oekaki with a 18 undo limit and only two layers for too long*

I prefer painting on... mainly because I'm a traditionalist at heart. sweatdrop
It's also because I prefer level of control you get when you select EXACTLY which colours to use. Dodge and Burn are too harsh and unpredictable for my tastes
as for the outline thing, I don't think I've ever done it that way.. but I've often used a similar method, where I draw the shape, filled and all, in a medium colour, then highlight and darken on a higher layer. Lately, though, I've been trying to cut down my layer usage, so I'm only using one layer per item of clothing/feature.

Oh and, I dunno if this is just me, but does anyone else do the basic outline of the clothes on one layer and then color on a new? ninja I only do it cause I'm afraid of screwing up the lines. *has been using oekaki with a 18 undo limit and only two layers for too long* That's how I do mine. I outline the piece of clothing and then to two or three shades lighter and create a new layer under the outline layer and paint in the article of clothing.
I also do each piece of clothing as a new layer.
As for shading. I duplicate the layer, throw on dodge and burn and then lower the opacity so it blends in. Then in a new layer I use the airbrush tool and pure black to add shade. I then lower the opacity of that layer to about 10%. Lather, rinse and repeat with more layers of black and layers of white.

But most of the time I tend to draw the lines on one layer and use the same layer to color over when I need to. I'll just go over the lines again if I need to change anything or if I want to get a much smoother edge. 3nodding *proceeds to laugh at nekokoi*

I have an order for an avatar laying in a bed with the little Z's coming off and then a dream bubble comes up (it'll be a gif if you haven't figured that out yet) and shows the avatar in the bed kissing another avatar. I think I can manange to draw the 2 kissing, but I'm definately not good enough to redraw the one laying in a bed.
So, here's my question. Anyway to rotate the avatar into a sleeping postion without it looking too crappy? I have Photoshop 7 if that helps.
