One of these days I'll get the starter and properly invested in this. €100,- doesn't sound that bad after talking to some of the local players.

It take a hell of lot less to start and play a basic game as well, something warhammer has yet to compare against.

€100,-- for seventeen minis (with their cards), a wee rulebook, four dice, a useless tape measure, a free slimmed down copy of No Quarter magazine and two quick-start posters. Au comparison to some of the stuff other companies (Dust Tactics & Super Dungeon Explore to name but two) have released to date, it feels a bit underwhelming and overpriced. Oh well, c'est la vie mon cheri.

Gripes aside, the minis are nicely done in that resi-plast stuff that feels like plastic, but requires supah-glue to properly bond. I'm digging the Khador models most right now, the Menoth zealots suffer a bit too much from the pauldron-machine syndrome: Shoulder guards that are too large. Also, the Menoth Jack have comically tiny legs and look like robo-hunchbacks for some reason. Soooo, Khador it is for me, I've always been a fan of raven-haired grrrls.

We just had our first ahem, game of Warmachine: Five Man-O-War shock troops versus five Exemplar Cinerators. She played as the reds, I played as the church. The reds won, but only just, with only two models remaining standing, both down to their last hit boxes. All in all the basic mechanics are easy enough to follow. You roll to hit (2D6 + the ranged or melee attack rating of the model) and see if that score beats your opponents DEF rating. After that you roll for damage (2D6 + power of your weapon, + model strength if performing a melee attack) against your opponents ARM rating and have him mark one damage box for every point it is exceeded.

Once the paint is dry on these Red 'Jacks we'll have a go at pitting a Juggernaut against a Crusader.

After getting the hang of the special rules of both the choir boys and the steam-powered reds we've come to the conclusion that the reds stand no chance against the power of a bunch of religious zealots. Shield Wall is nice, but not as nice as Weapon Master. twisted

You may not see them well,
but I added some light-blue + white effects on weapons to make them
seem like they would be powered by lightning
and added some heat effect on vents with orange + yellow
to sort of have the same effect that can be seen in the rulebook. :3

And iiiiiiif your wondering about the orange beard on Stryker...... ^^"
Suprised???

Good choice,
Khador and Cygnar are counted being generally good beginner armies. 3nodding
Word of advice: Plan carefully, don´t hesitate and play like you got a pair.

*is amazed that the thread from my old account is still going*

I really need to prepare my Cygnar models. I've had them since December and I still haven't gotten around to building them up.

I'm working on a Cygnar starter myself and played a few games against someone with a Khador starter, things have been most.. messy and violent to say the least. sweatdrop

I am tempted to swap out Stryker for either Sloan or Caine for more carnage. ninja

I'm putting both Sloan and Stryker in the army for me. Stryker for the close combat prowess and Sloan for the long range support.
