Dacj had to chuckle. It sounded exactly like something Mena would do, except Mena's cooking endeavors tended to leave behind semi-sentient goo affixed to the pans. "Yes, let's refrain from reanimating dead animals, okay? You're going to be helping me too," she informed Sorcha with a smile.
Dacj led the way through the front door into the dining room and then the kitchen. "I'll give you the full tour later," Dacj promised, as she led Sorcha straight to the back of the house. "There's not a ton to see, but..." There was slightly more to the Cottage than Sorcha had seen on her previous visit after all.

Sorcha chuckled weakly "Well, I'll endeavor to not create culinary abominations, they just don't turn out as well as the scientific ones."

"I'd gather that's true, as one generally does not have to find scientific abominations edible..." Dacj agreed with a chuckle as they entered the kitchen. She bustled around retrieving ingredients from the fridge, readying a small cup of water, and a saucepan she added oil to. "I figured something like wontons would be good?" she said, mixing the already cooked meat and vegetables in a medium-sized bowl. "Since it's easier with two anyway. One to make the the wontons and the other to fry them...which I can do." It wasn't that she didn't trust Sorcha around open fire...okay, well, maybe she didn't. Still, they did keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen just in case, if worst came to worst...

Sorcha watched the preparations with interest and moved to help "Sure I can do that seems easy enough~.... Ya know I bet I could make a machine that could make them faster then I could by hand... Or maybe Wantons that assemble them selves?.. na take to long to get it to work" peeking inside a cupboard a random jar caught Sorcha's attention hefting it Sorcha asked Dacj "Hey do you think this would be good in wantons?"

Dacj peered at the jar, considered, and then nodded briskly, holding out the bowl wherein she mixed the filling. "Go ahead and add a bit--ooor, actually, let me give this to you, and I'll start stuffing the first couple. Then you can take over that while I fry 'em." She placed the bowl into Sorcha's arms, went to wash her hands, and returned to start stuffing the delicate doughy sheets with the filling, using her bare hands.
The real trick was going to be frying them without sending oil popping everywhere, but they'd manage somehow.

Sorcha following Dacj's example washed her hands too and then took over the bowl watching how Dacj stuffed the wantons. "Soo what was the 'get out of this house' business earlier about?" Sorcha asked as she worked keeping her voice nonchalant.

Dacj cringed at the reminder, but there wasn't any way to escape it now. Given her druthers, she'd rather have had the conversation outside the house, as the kraken knew well that Mena had surveillance equipment all around the house. Dacj could hope Mena was busy with something else and not paying attention...or, well, why shouldn't she hear Dacj's honest opinion on the matter?
"Mom and I kind of had a...disagreement," she said, frowning slightly as she continued to prepare dinner. "Noe kind of snapped a bit recently and Eli thought that maybe I was egging her on unconsciously and then he told Mom, and...it all kind of snowballed from there."

Sorcha raised an eyebrow "Okay now I'm really interested, you gave an answer that gave the absolute least amount of information possible and your normally so forthright about things I mean you even taught to me about sex and such. Whats this all about, that your so closed lipped?"

Dacj winced; recalling the seemingly disastrous sex talk...at least, that's how it had felt from her perspective. "And that, m'dear, was not one of my finer moments..." Still, Sorcha was right in that she at least deserved the truth...
"I...am very fond of Seth. Both my brother and my mother feel that I am a little too..." The kraken gestured helplessly, searching for a word. "Hmm...a little too indiscreet? That maybe I should tone it down. I basically told them it was none of their business, and they were okay with that until recently, when I may or may not have pissed off Noelani..." She shrugged. "Seth doesn't seem to care, but I'm not sure he even notices. I'm that far into the friend-zone. And it's not like I do anything with him I wouldn't do with a friend, so..." It was just that she was so very liberal with affection even within her friendships that was the problem, maybe. Or was it the fact she'd rather have more from him?

Sorcha struggled a moment with with whether or not she should be mad that Dacj hadn't told her freely that she liked some one when she had talked with Sorcha about the open relationship. But since Dacj was already upset over it Sorcha decided to let it go breathing in deeply and pushing the feelings out with a loud breath. "So Seth is it? ... The cheetah? he seems nice enough...but he's just so bland. What do you see in him?" Sorcha asked a bit curious.
(when sorcha says bland most people would say normal and well balanced)

Dacj looked thoughtful at the question. "Hmm...maybe it's better to say, part of why I like you is because the two of you are so different? He's...so calm and easygoing and...maybe it's a security thing, I dunno. He's been around since I was a squidlet, and having him around makes me happy, so I guess...I'm just trying to be selfish?" Wouldn't be the first time she'd come to that conclusion...
"Anyway, it's all moot because he's engaged to my sister and completely a monogamous type to boot. And Noe's super possessive." Dacj pulled another face at mentioning her sister--even if not for things with Seth, the kraken did not like the kuppy girl. Granted, they'd hardly said more than a few words to one another in all the time Dacj'd been living, but it still kind of hurt, knowing that Noe didn't like her much at all either.

"hmm okay so you like your sisters fiancee... Why is it so important that you be 'discreet" why is him not knowing how you feel important?" Sorcha asked a bit confused.

"Oh, it's not Seth finding out that everyone's worried about. It's Noelani." Dacj rolled her eyes. "Eli seems to think she'd 'murder me dead' if she thought I was trying to steal Seth away. Which I'm actually not, but I can see how it might look that way to someone...like her." That was the kinder way to phrase it, in Dacj's opinion.
"And I'm a little worried that if Seth knew, he'd stop spending time with me...or at least, stop spending as much time with me," she admitted sheepishly. "He's that kind of traditional guy, after all." And she hadn't forgotten how he had recoiled even at the merest teasing suggestion of her true feelings. How badly would he react if he knew them to be fact?

Sorcha pursed her lips "I don't like this talk about people murdering you, though if it came down to that I bet I could take her out first, I recently figured out a way to alter a satellites reentry path so a lot of the mass is still there when it hits the ground and it should be damn hard to trace too." Sorcha shook her head "Putting that aside it seems like a rather sticky situation, I mean if you cleared with Seth that you have feelings for him but that it won't go any where you might be able to defuse the situation with your sister but you would have to risk Seth's reaction."

"I don't need you to murder her first, Eli'd jump in before either of us managed any real damage on the other," Dacj said, amused at Sorcha's matter-of-fact offhand plotting. "I'm not actually worried about Noe really finding out because it seems like she's never around half the time. I mean, why else does her boyfriend have time to go around gallivanting with me and my brother and the rest of my family? We see him more than she does, I swear!"
She shook her head, and got back to making dinner with a wry little smile. "It's the fact that my mother is getting on my case about it that really bothers me. We don't disagree very often."
