She knew deep down he wasn't? Was she kidding him? Had the cold already affected her mind? Did he need a friend? No. Why did everyone assume that he needed companionship? That he needed, that he even WANTED to talk? Even though she was hurt by his attitude, she'd put it aside? He sneered mentally. Oh how kind she was. He actually snorted. What had she expected, him to fall to his withers with gratitude, crying his eyes out that finally he had some one willing to hear his story? Who did she think she was kidding? EVERYONE tried to get him to open up, to talk. He swore, some days he felt like he was a big red button with a "do not push" sign around his neck. It was unbelievably irritating. Why couldn't anyone just leave him alone? And now what was she doing. Begging. Great. From arrogance to begging in a single breath. Really, what was with this girl? And now tears. He twitched. His ear actually flicked back as the skin around his eye moved. Tears. Why did they all think tears would work on him? Grass and snow he HATED tears. And it wasn't just a female thing. His flank twitched at the sight of those icy drops clinging to her face. He wanted to bat them away, just to get them out of his sight. They looked wrong on her face. He wanted them gone. He wanted to make her stop crying, because he didn't want to see the tears. They needed to leave now. But what? How could he get her to stop crying? Well, the easiest answer was to give her what she wanted, but where would they be then? The same place, only then she would know such tactics worked on him, which meant she would try it again, and again, and again. It was like paying ransom on a kidnapped foal. If you did it once the whole world knew it was a way to get you to pony up. So that was certainly out. And anyway, he had nothing to talk about. There really was nothing to him. He was a simple soq with a simple life, simple thoughts, simple tastes. That was it. Fine, so what was option number two for being quit of those stupid tears? For getting that pain out of her eyes? Well, there was always distraction. But what in the winds was he supposed to distract her with? They were on a mountain covered in snow. The only thing to look at was the marker of her parents' graves. He didn't know much about Soqs, but he knew that would probably only bring more tears. He glanced around, casting for something, anything. Then he spotted the sky. Well, that would do for a distraction. Others did appreciate things like this, didn't they? Well, one way to find out. He nodded to the horizon. Right where he stood, the setting sun was framed by two distant mountains, coloring not only the sky in purples and reds and blues, but also the snow on either side of the sun. He glanced to her, then shifted so she could stand where he had been to see the same effect.

Hydro watched him closely and didn't hear a peep. She knew this was going to happen even before she said anything to him. She knew his behavior too well now. It was like he was mute. She didn't have the energy to pry at him more and it would probably be the last time she would that day. She didn't know what to think right now. She didn't want to be near him, but then she felt some kind of comfort from him. She didn't know why this feeling was there, but it was. Eyeing him long and hard, she smiled some before turning her attention to the beautiful sunset. "Isn't it pretty?" She asked him before looking back to him again with a smile. "I have one question for you and I do want you to say something if possible...Would you ever have children?" She asked him and turned on her side so that that could see his face more. "I want children of my own. I want a family, but...I'm not lucky in the love department. I have suffered 2 broken hearts within a year..I guess I"m stupid, but I just wished for happiness." She told the stallion knowing he probably wouldn't comment on that at all. She felt like she could tell him anything at this point. He already knew about her family that was deceased and that was the most personal thing to her.

He watched her as she watched the sunset, seeing her bathed in the fading daylight, she almost looked like a different Soq. Not that there was any other Soq he more wanted to be with, it was just an odd effect. He caught her studying him and flicked an ear in irritation. When she turned back to the sunset, he closed his eyes and let the cold breeze move over his flanks, comforting.

When she asked him if he thought it was pretty, any thoughts or imaginings that she might have magically metamorphosed into some other Soq vanished. It was most certainly her. He opened his eyes, but before he could reply she was, true to her nature, continuing.

Was she really asking him something that personal? And where had it even come from? He swore, there was no understanding the minds of some fillys. Did he want foals? Was she kidding? He hated little ones. They demanded attention, needed to be taught and protected, they pulled on tails... His ear flicked in general annoyance, just thinking of them. But again, as usual, she kept going on, talking about herself. Again.

What was it with her? She seemed to think that if she asked him a question then answered it for herself he would magically be inclined to spill his deepest darkest secrets. He didn't even HAVE deep dark secrets!

And she just... wished for happiness? Wishing is pointless. It accomplishes nothing! She wanted him to speak, fine. "You're wasting your time," he grumbled at her. Wishing was nothing but excusing oneself from trying. If she wanted to be happy so badly, she should go out and find things that made her happy. By simply wishing for it, all she would find was disappointment.

Hydro watched the male curiously tilting her head since she knew he was thinking of so many things in his head. It seemed to be the way he operated. She heard his comment and immediately let out a snort. This wasn't a waste of time to her. She wanted to get to know him. It was her choice and it was something she stood behind. Her ears flicked back as if to show his words annoyed her. He never seemed upbeat or happy. He was just...ugh...annoying sometimes. Maybe it was better he was that way. If he did indeed talk he might get on her nerves even more.

"Oh really? I'm wasting my time? I don't think I am. Don't assume you know me or act like your life is so boring. I want to get to know you. I can't force you to talk, but it would be nice. I want to know more about you, your family and so on. What you like, what you dislike, and what you hate? Is it too wrong to want to know this from someone? I want to know you. You intrigue me even though you find yourself boring. Don't I do that for you? Don't you want to know me? Or am I just going to be forgotten once we get back home?" She asked him as she huffed looking to the setting sun before feeling a cold strong breeze swept past her giving her body a chill.

He meant the wishing was a waste of time. His ear flicked. What was it with other Soqs always jumping to conclusions or misunderstanding him? Was it any wonder he didn't like to talk? What was the point when no one ever seemed to get what he was saying? They all made up their own minds anyhow, what did it matter? "Wishing," he grunted. He was saying the wishing had been the poor use of time. Maybe she'd get it now.

Hydro snorted at his one word. She was lucky if she got a sentence out of him. She didn't mind it too much if she was asking one thing, but she asked him many things. This bothered her. Looking back to him, she thought on that one word not sure what it could mean in the many things she said to him. Did he mean wishing her away? She didn't fully understand what he meant, but this time she would take it positively. "Hmm so your wishing to get to know me then? We can make it possible, but it won't get anywhere if we don't talk to each other." She mentioned as she rose to her feet. Looking into the distance, she felt a strange chill in the air. "A storm is coming.." She told him and knew this feeling all too well. She was from there so she should know. "We have to find somewhere to stay warm or we will be covered in it." She told him as she trotted off hoping to find that cave she use to hide in when she was younger.

His ears flicked. He was NOT a happy boy. Not at all. "Wasting your time wishing," he said through his teeth. Really, why was his old friend so concerned with the well being of some one so clearly stupid. Had she been dropped on her head as a basket, perhaps? That would make sense, he supposed. Maybe it was pity that had moved his old friend. Heha always had the larger heart. Well, Pachu'a wasn't one to be led by his pity. Not at all, not in the least. He would get her back to Heha safe and sound, then he's wash his hooves of her, wash her right out of his mane, and off his back. He'd be done with the optimistic little twit.

A storm was certainly coming, at least she was right about that. He supposed even a fool could guess right occasionally. He flicked an ear and headed for the path back down the mountain. Storms could be fun, but not when he had to care for another through it. He was fairly certain they could make it back down before it hit, if they kept moving.
