Ares tried to think of if he'd ever tried that, then shrugged. "Aaaactually, I've never done that, but I've drowned more times than I can count." He grinned a bit, as if this was some sort of accomplishment. "It requires less thinking to drown."

Ever looked up at Ares, startled. Then, she couldn't help but laugh softly at what he said. "What?! How can you possibly drown?!"

Ever winced and even wiggled at the thought of what Ares probably did to get water in his lungs. "Oh my gods! Don't tell me you purposefully breathed in water to get it into your lungs!"

He laughed. "HA! No, I'm not that stupid! I just didn't hold my breath. Doing that would've been too much work."

Ever fell back on the ground and gripped her sides as if she could feel the pain in her chest that Ares surely had felt!
"Oh man!! Didn't that hurt?! That had to have been so painful!"

Ares scoffed. "Of course it did! It was easier than holding my breath, though." He shrugged. "Besides, you get used to it after the first couple of times."

Ever groaned and then turned on her back so that she was lying on her back and looking up at the sky.
"Isn't there anyway to go into water, not drown and not feel pain? Do you think Poseidon might help? I'd rather not involve another god, but is there a potion or something that might help?"

Ares shrugged again. "I've never tried it. You could probably talk to him and find out, but you'll have to have some sort of offering in return. It better be something unrelated to the Relic, too." He gave her a meaningful look.

Ever thought about what Ares said and then noticed his meaningful look. She took it the wrong way, though. She thought it meant that he thought she should know what to offer him.
She scowled slightly. "You... you think I should offer myself to that fishy god in exchange for help?! Ares, how can you even think that?! I know we're not dating right now, but my gods! You're the only man I've ever slept with and I'd like to keep it that way! I can't believe you'd suggest that!"

"Ew, no!" Ares made a face, reeling back a little (or as much was possible while lying down). "Where'd you come up with that bullshit thought? You'd smell like fish for days! ...not that he cared what she smelled like.

She was still scowling. "You gave me that look of yours, like I should know what I should offer and that offering should be me!"
She sighed and sat up to get a better look at him. Maybe lying down had skewered her vision. "So what exactly was the look about? What did you have in mind?"

He rolled his eyes. "I gave you a look so that you wouldn't try selling the Relic, stupid. I don't know what you're going to trade him. What do you have that he doesn't?"

She cried out softly in complete frustration. She was really getting upset at Ares now, and more than a little insulted.
"Ares, you must think I'm incredibly stupid! You honestly think I'd sell him the Relic after working so hard to get it?!"

Ares shrugged. "Not really, but better safe than sorry, right? Maybe you should talk about this with your friends--Dog-chick and Sleeping Beauty. They might have some sort of idea what to offer Poseidon." He decided not to mention that Poseidon just might try to get them to agree to enslaving one of them to him if he were to help them, and if Ares was right, it would more likely be either Aurora or Evermore, since both of them could enter water without killing themselves; and of the two, Aurora was more likely (though not by much, since she was still mortal, as far as Ares knew).
