(( Petting Zoo // Oceanfront ))
"Toshi!"
The Italian looked a little surprised, momentarily freezing in the way one might notice a mouse running by underfoot in an intrigued, if not caught off-guard manner. The moment passed and Alex found herself grinning, moving her hand to lightly touch the Kitsune's ear in greeting. "It's been a long time, Tosh," she smiled fondly to the odd-spoken Frei. "I hope you and Wit are well? Ah--" She noticed the way the scaled Fox Chimera was eying Vyn, barely able to retreat from Frei's before the water battle started. She gave a small, surprised bit of laughter as some of the water reached her side, wiping it off without upset and watching Vyn engage in water-play with the Chimera. The Italian couldn't help but note how far Vyn had come - the Rose, once withdrawn and coiled within herself, now dressed for summer and playing openly with others. To say it warmed her heart was a grave understatement.
Leaving the two to duke it out with the feisty Chimera's, her eyes fell upon Xuelian and the perplexed expression the young girl wore while watching the Rose and their antics, though her attention wavered towards Ethan as he began to speak again. She couldn't stop the shock that flit over her features, something like mild disbelief and a stranger sense of stubborn uncertainty just beneath. "Really?" Alex tried to maintain her smile, but the surprise kept it slightly more awe-touched. "That's...that's good. You're in good hands. He's brilliant, best you'll get in the field, but he can be..."
Speak of the devil didn't quite cover how she felt when her vibrant eyes turned outwards over the sand and found the icy blues of the man being spoken of. For those three seconds, Alex stared just as stoically at Kenth as he to her, and just as abruptly looked away, though her expression was decidedly less stand-offish than his. The Italian was, if anything, professional in the face of all else, swallowing down the warring feelings that tried to surface and using a smile to wash it all aside. He didn't want to deal with her. She could deal with him later, on her own terms. "...cold," she finished with a slight quirk of her lips that spoke volumes of what she wasn't actually saying. First-hand experience was a b***h. "We'll see you soon, Xuelian," she called quietly after the delicate Frei, lifting her hand briefly.
Swallowing down any other unbidden emotions that would spell out her story clearly on her face, she caught a familiar voice on the wind, wiping out most of her misgivings with intrigue. Her eyes sought through the arrival of familiar and not-so-much people alike, though it was the red hair that caught her attention the fastest. Fathle. Her eyes didn't have time to rest upon the tall man, quickly seeking out the charge at his side, the transformation therein far more visible and welcome: her dark brows lifted with genuine surprise, a joyous warmth in her eyes and a smile to match forming beneath. "Dayo!" she called with happy surprise, squeezing Ethan's arm in gentle excitement before moving to the edge of her station and motioning for the Eagle to come near. "Come here sweetie, let me get a look at you!" Alex held out her arms to Ekundayo, hoping the reformed Frei would allow her the affection.
---
The demon didn't react right away, his gaze remaining over the rolling blue yonder despite the unfamiliar voice at his side. One pointed ear remained turned towards the human as he was greeted, questioned and introduced all in one go, earning a bemused smile upon his profile. Tucking his bone framed wings against his back, the sun-kissed Frei turned his tri-horned head to look at the woman who introduced herself as 'Trinity' and 'Lette,' resting eyes blue enough to rival the ocean and sky upon her own wide countenance. "That was a mouthful," he replied in his voice of smoke and good-humor, tilting his head. "I am Zul. A pleasure to meet you, Trinity."
Unfortunately, the woman was now tagged with her given name, as Zul rather preferred it over 'Lette.' Unfolding his arms across his bare chest - donning his standard apparel other than his armbands - he looked briefly looking over her attire; red and gold garments against hair as black as his woman's and eyes unlike anything he'd seen before. The demon smiled, pressing one of his hands to his chest and bowing to her in slow greeting. "We are the Raevans." Deciding she was unique enough in appearance to garner his answers, he welcomed the company, letting his previous thoughts slip off his shoulders in preparation for the party. "Beings of magic and intrigue, you might say." He lifted his hands, idly waggling his fingers and lifting his dark brows in a manner that suggested he was to be taken with a grain of salt. His sense of humor was dry at the best of times, let alone when he was trying!
"Questions about us are best posed to the man with horns at the drink booth," he pointed without looking, keeping his eyes on the human, "though if you have questions for us, most of us will answer." Having answered her satisfactory by his own wager, he crossed his arms again and wore a lop-sided smile infused with the charm he carried naturally, at rest and undemanding. Zul was pleased to be able to exercise his expanding vocabulary, though it might have been lost on someone who hadn't known his limits previously. All the better to wow with a first impression, or so he hoped.

(( Arrival --> Popsicle Booth ))
Kinsey never had any intention of taking Varun to the beach for the Lab's annual summer party. Oh, yes, she did feel a little guilty for holing the redhead up, all on his own, but after his recent rash of poor behavior, she didn't really want to spend a day playing damage control while the Leviathan made a fool of them both. He was entirely too big for his britches, that one, and until she learned how to bring the lord of the sea back down to size, she wasn't taking him out in public. That didn't stop the Frei from letting himself out, of course.
He'd overheard his guardian on the phone with his mother one evening, the young cop explaining her tearful situation. Varun had said nothing at the time, though he did offer his guardian the cold shoulder for days, and he bid his time. He even made a small mark on the calendar fridge so he wouldn't forget the day.
His guardian left for work in the usual manner, preaching the sins of making holes in the drywall, leaving electronics on all day, so on, so on. She left, eventually. Varun watched the door unblinking for ten minutes, and when she did not return, a nasty smile tickled the edges of his mouth and the Raevan burst into action, whipping down the hallway and throwing open her room. The dog bank was swatted to the floor, shattering and spilling it's contents under the dresser and across the rug. Varun chortled gleefully, congratulating himself as he plucked quarters from the wreckage.
He was out the door in less than three minutes, long red hair tied up in a ponytail, save for his bangs and quarters in his hands. He'd left the arm bracers at home, choosing only to wear his chest plate and shoulder piece (and only because he found the bus wouldn't let him on when he wore nothing at all). The ride from his city block to the beach was less than pleasant, wedged in a back corner and growling at anyone who looked like they might be considering sitting within five feet of the seasonal Raevan. But one way or another, Varun survived and made it out to summer party relatively unscathed and, more importantly, without his guardian to ruin all his fun.
The scene was slightly overwhelming, a large amount of Raevans and people buzzing around, and a good deal the Leviathan did not recognize. Flattening his fins against his skull, he floated closer hesitantly, glancing back and forth between booths as he tried to spot any of his friends. Well, relatively speaking. Flattening a little further when he didn't spy any of them, Varun realized he'd have to make do with an acquaintance. Snapping his bright yellow wings open, he quickly propelled himself over to the popsicle stand. It was the least crowded, and he recognized the Frei mingling with the humans.
"Lucia!" he greeted her, trying to find the best way to wedge himself closer (and completely unaware she might actually be speaking with someone else. He eyed the man behind the booth warily, and decided he would stick with the familiar Raevan, for now. He shoved past Ronan, snarling when their shoulders rubbed instead of apologizing, and floated closer to Lucia. "I have not seen you in...a while." Time was still a very foreign concept to the beast. "What do you do, here?"

When Lucia spoke to Ronan directly, a look of surprise briefly flicked across his face, but it was quickly smoothed over into a pleasant smile. Hearing the question that she posed to him, he ended up deciding that it would be best to not mention Maili directly. Sure, the raevan probably even didn't remember the encounter, but since it was very likely Maili had been.... less than polite, it was best not to take a chance.
"A pleasure to meet you Lucia. My name is Ronan," he said, giving a courteous nod in greeting. "I actually have heard about Lab 305 and the raevans in the past. So you could say I am here to see what I can learn, for the subject is a great interest to myself and an acquaintance."
His conversation was rudely interrupted as red hued raevan brushed past him, and Ronan bristled instinctively at the shoulder shove and snarl. The look and feel of this new raevan inexplicably dredged up memories of a past life, and his teeth were set on edge when he figured out why. This raevan had been an ocean predator. A big, nasty ocean predator. It's new humanoid body was all that kept Ronan from making a hasty get away, but he was incredibly tense, reminiscent of a cat with its back arched and claws dug all the way into the carpet. A large bite from his popsicle was able to snap him out of it, but his muscles did not relax completely. Prey.... he could not think like prey, but that's what his body had been doing, obeying instincts from the past. Slowly, gradually, Ronan let the tension release, until he was back to where had been before the red one's arrival. He would NOT let himself be paralyzed. Old fears would not ruin this day.
Backing up and giving the two raevans their space, Ronan took the time to properly look at the sign up sheets. Eventually he scribbled his name down for the paint ball - a good way to let out his excess energy, what ever its form. The sandcastle building also looked interesting, but he decided he would wait on that for now.

Kenth immediately noticed something strange with the way Xuelian acted soon as they left the petting zoo. She was beginning to doze off, all her excitement slowly dwindled to nothingness as the girl tried her best to follow Kenth's footsteps. At first the doctor thought maybe she was still being depressed about not able to stay in the petting zoo with the chimera, but this was not the case, for when he studied the Raevan's expression she still had an earnest look on her face, void of any negative emotions. Worried, Kenth picked a shady spot and paused walking.
"Are you feeling okay?"
The girl nodded, rubbing at her eyes. From close inspection Kenth could tell her skin was exceedingly dry. Normally in a hot weather like this, and normally for a human, the skin would be moist from sweat emitted. But Xuelian was not a human. Kenth touched her wrist, finding it warm against his fingers. It was then the thought struck him. Similar scenario happened not too long ago back at his clinic, where the Raevan acted lethargic and weak. Thankfully, Kenth also remembered the solution to treating this problem. The dainty Raevan's soul came from a plant growing up in a cold environment, of course she would not be able to stand the heat on a summer beach. The doctor bit his lips, he should have made better preparation, or, he shouldn't even have come in the first place knowing his subject would be hurt by the sun.
"Come on, let's get you something to drink." Kenth pulled Xuelian's arm gently, helping her to move faster. "Drink" was not something accurate, for Xuelian feed upon water in the most unusual way. She would not only need a sip, a small cup, but a rather large quantity of them. The doctor looked around, eventually spotting the colorful sign that spelt "drink booth" on the other side of the beach.
He hoped they have plenty of water.
Dragging his subject through the crowd in a rather brutal fashion, the two finally made their way to the drink booth. Never-minding the fact that the booth was rather crowded with both humans and Raevans, Kenth disregarded much of his manner and squeezed himself to the counter.
"Pardon me, but is the sever around? I need a few gallons of water please."

((Drinks Booth))
Pink graced Meli's cheeks in response to Kyou's smile, and she moved her hand from her hair to wave. He'd seen her, even in the back! What a great bartender! Once the curls were unrestrained, though, they danced and pulled instantly in the breeze...she regretted not wearing her usual ribbons in her hair to keep them in place. Twisting this way and that to try to get them out of her face, Melisande happened to glance behind her...and almost got a face full of Doucette's hat as she tried to get out of Kenth and Xuelian's way.
"Oh, pardon!" Melisande's voice was clearer than her slight frame should have accounted for as she apologized to Doucette, sweet and surprisingly easy to pick out, despite the general hubbub and buzz. Her blue eyes brightened over a smile, gaze barely visible through her huge owlish sunglasses. "That's a wonderful idea, the hat!"
She reached out and gave the brim a tiny tweak, watching the way the whole brim flexed in response. Laughing lightly, she dropped her hand and offered it to Doucette, hoping for something a bit more delicate than a shake. "I suppose it's impolite to be playing with the hats of strangers, isn't it? You can call me Pasha!"

[[Drinks booth >> Popsicle Stand Signup (aphi)/ Oceanside (Rivener)]]
Aphismet chuckled as he was given the large, pink-umbrella-topped coconut. With raised eyebrows he gave the concoction a test-sip, finding it sweet and packing quite a punch. "Mnh, good stuff, Dr Kyou. Thanks!" The chef moved away to give others space at the booth, sunglasses quickly spotting Isikoro nearby. The chef grinned and walked over to his brother, free hand quickly raising to give the dual-colored head of hair a playful tousle. "Let Kyou get you a drink, Isi, then you can go find a spot of shade to sit in. You won't have to brave the crummy sand-covered ground much longer. I'm really proud of you for coming along though!"
Rivener chuckled at Laz's confident answer that of course, he could make that kind of drink. Ruby eyes watched as the other Sigel went about with expert efficiency, mixing up exactly what Riv had asked for. When the Scorpion gave the drink a test, he had to smack his lips and raise both brows in appreciation, nodding slightly. It DID taste like a creamsicle. Very nice. Though Riv wouldn't just outright say that. "Events, hunh? Yeah, I think I'll participate. It's a party after all, wouldn't be much fun if we didn't take part, right? I'm assuming you're going to go for at least some of it, right?" Rivener smirked. "I'll go sign up, myself. I hope I'm on the other team in paintball, I'm going to shoot you stupid." He grinned, obviously teasing.
The Scorpion turned to seek out the sign-up place, easily spotting the large hand-written signs hung from the nearby popsicle stand. ...Unfortunately, he also easily spotted the Kitten Frei there, as well as Varun. Ugh. Riv groaned, moving over to Aphismet and tapping the chef on the shoulder. He spoke once he had the white-haired man's attention: "Can you please go sign me up for paintball and seashell finding? I don't really wanna do the sand building thing."
Aphismet blinked. "Sign you up? Why don't you just sign yourself up?"
Rivener pointed by way of an explanation, and Aphismet went "Aah" in understanding. "Alright. Seashells and paintballs." With a final ruffle of Isi's hair, hoping the young man would find some measure of fun at the party and not just hobble around all grumpily, Aphismet walked towards the Popsicle booth.
The chef quietly sidled towards the sign-up sheets, mindful of interrupting anyone's conversation. He flashed a small smile to Ty and Yuurei, as well as the purple-and-green haired man manning the booth, but kept quiet as he picked up the pen. Nimbly he scrawled "RIVENER" under the Seashell and Paintball categories, and for the hell of it he added "APHISMET" under the sandcastle building contest. Sounded fun!
Rivener sighed with relief at not having to deal with either of the troublesome Frei (though would Varun even remember them fighting at Lucia's party, Riv wondered?), though he now wondered what to do. Ah, Doucette was nearby, and Rivener considered going over to speak to her... But farther away on the beach, another sight much more interesting caught his eye: Zul! Riv grinned broadly and brightly, zooming past everyone and everything with single-minded intent.
The Demon was already talking to someone, but surely they wouldn't mind another. Riv would just have to curb his urge to tackle-hug his Flower... curb only barely. As he neared, Riv lifted an arm and threaded his fingers lovingly into Zul's hair at the base of his neck, smiling. "Hello, my Zul." He was mindful not to call him that potentially-embarrassing nickname in public. "And hello to you, miss." Riv magnanimously included the stranger in the conversation, feeling rather nice today.

[[Ocean Side]]
Putting aside the slight wait between her greeting and the male's reaction Lette watched, mouth slightly agape, as the being turned around and addressed her. What an amazing creature. And sweet baby Gambino, he could speak English, this Zul.
Remembering her manners and etiquette she quickly shut her mouth, hoping her attempt at catching flies - as her mom put it, had gone unnoticed. So these half-floating-things were Raevans, huh? Well. She herself had never heard of them, but here was a prime example standing right in front of her. Besides this was Gaia, a place where all manner of creatures and half-lings were wondering around, so why should she be surprised?
Drawing her hands through her hair, and jostling it slightly, she removed the last vestiges of helmet-head from her mane, all the while staring at the sun-kissed male in front of her who seemingly looked like he should be one of those rough and tumble male models - even though he had weird tattoos...and horns...and wings...and no torso or legs. Nevertheless, the man was seriously attractive and she did not attempt to hide her roving eyes as they dissected the features of the blue-eyed beauty. "So...Zul. What's this ribbon thing trailing underneath your body," reaching out tentatively, Lette made to touch it, before realizing that it might not be the best idea, instead gazing back up into the Raevan's face. "Sorry to be so inquisitive, but damn, I've never seen anyone like you before. Though I wish I had." Winking at the Raevan, Lette turned on the full force of her infectious smile. She might be playing a dangerous game, flirting with this Raevan fella', but it was too easy with his tanned skin, dual colored hair, and manly features. Exotic didn't even begin to describe what her pleased eyes were seeing.
Suddenly another Raevan, or at least she assumed he was one even though his torso was definitely longer then that of Zul's, floated into the conversation, twining his fingers into Zul's hair and showing an obvious affection for the male. Oh boy. Were they together? Had she just flirted and visually accosted the blue-eyed beauty within earshot of his red-winged counterpart? Maybe he hadn't heard her, as his tone was decisively chivalrous and nice. "Oh. Why hello there." Suddenly overwhelmed by the presence of two Raevans, Lette found herself overwhelmed and speechless yet again, a rare occurrence to be sure.

((Popsicle Booth - Zeke Water's Edge - Anastacia))
Zeke gave a smile to Ronan, and, after listening to the man's words, knew he wasn't a guardian with a wayward charge. He'd be all too happy to help! He just wanted to give a check to the Kitten's well-being first.
"Just give me a few moments and I'll answer as many and all questions you have!" He gave the man a pat on the shoulder for good measure and gestured to the popsicle buckets that were scattered around on the table. He turned his head back to the dark Frei, tilting it slightly as she gave pause to her words. He felt a little falling feeling as she seemed to have to think about it; he was worried for her and it only grew as her smile turned a touch sad. "'Okay' is better than nothing. I'm happy to hear it Lucia." Even if she did have to pause.
When the introductions were made, and proper nods given, the vet reached out and took the Australian's hand; shaking it firmly. He didn't correct Lucia when she called him a Raevan doctor, but not out of his own self-pride. He was happy to help the Lab when needed, and just felt lucky enough that his full time job's skills were able to work outside the clinic's animals-only setting.
"It's nice to meet you both." He looked to where Ty was gesturing. "Ah! Game sign ups. We're having three events this year," though he'd only been with Lab less than one, Alex had told him as such, "paintball, seashell collecting - which is Raevan's only - and sandcastle building." He tapped each chart in turn, lingering on the seashell one and looking over his sunglasses at his own wayward ward. Anastacia was still by that rock that jutted out into the water, but her posture and interests had shifted to something in the sand. Maybe her first shell, he mused, and deftly picked up the form and the pen tucked behind the clipboard's metal clip before neatly printing the virus Frei's name on the line. It'd do her good, even if he was doing it in secret from her. She'd deftly say 'no' otherwise.
It actually wasn't a shell that held the Frei's attention. No, it was something live, mobile, and sort of orange that had her oddly positioned over it and the baking sand. She had never seen such a creature and, watching it, she was perplexed at its motions. It was moving sideways as it walked across the wet-dry line as though oblivious to the fact or just plain defying that motion was supposed to go forward instead. She had just caught the movement randomly just before Zeke had noticed her, and had the man been near her, he'd have considered her posture all the more strange. Anya was not on her hands and she surveyed this creature, but rather delicately balanced on her wing tips. The first touch of skin to sand had left her with an unpleasantly gritty feeling on her palms, so to her this was the best way and the easiest. She could take large 'steps' to follow the little shelled creature's trip and continue to attempt to make it walk the right way.
When he put the paper down and displayed his Raevan's name out for the ones around the table, he smiled at Yuurei.
"I'm happy to help, but even happier she's made a recovery." Very little scarring to tell the truth, even if he couldn't see the Kitten's back at the moment. As Yuurei wrote down on the various sheets, he smiled at what she said. "I agree, though I might just be manning this all day, I've got my own Raevan down for seashells." Though she would have saw that already. A dart of red, green, and yellow caught his eye but before he could welcome Varun to the table, he had already taken up talking to the Kitten. Not a bad thing - let Raevans mingle with Raevans and guardians with guardians after all - and he could get back to Ronan just that much faster. He did give Varun a friendly look but it did waver as he heard that snarl directed toward the first man to arrive at his area. Oh dear, but the arrival of another new face wasn't lost on him.
"Welcome!" And he was happy to see the new man was jotting down names on the forms. Curious, Zeke leaned over enough to see the names. Rivener was one, and the other...Well then! "Ah! So you're the man who's dating my sister, and you thought you could get away without a hello!" He put on his best and brightest smile, extending a hand. "I'm Zeke. Alex has told me so much about you." In truth not everything, but a name and looks were among what they had chatted about on those slower days at the Lab.

[ Petting zoo. ]
As she continued to cup water and toss it over the animal in the pool Vyn caught some movement in her peripheral vision and although she did not totally remove her concentration from the vulpine animal (for it would be sure to soak her) she did cast a glance at what was happening. What she saw was most amusing. The girl from whom her attention had been taken by the foxfish was mimicking her actions in an attempt to presumably play with the critter also. However, whereas Vyn tossed up droplets of the paddling pools water the child raevan of the doctor was trying to flick air.
Vyn went to correct the girl; she must be relatively young to make a mistake like that and from what she remembered of the icy doctor he didn’t seem to be the type to encourage playfulness. The rose still remembered how he had reacted to her inquisitive observation of the fel essence... At the same time a greeting formed on her lips, she hadn’t meant to ignore Xuilian’s greeting. However, before she could speak a familiar cold voice cut her off. Kenth was overshadowing the pretty little flower girl who was repeating the snippet of Japanese Vyn had uttered.
Slipping into an observatory state Vyn watched as the doctor effectively dismantled Xuelian’s partaking in the petting zoo. A pang of annoyance was raised in her shadowy heart as Xuelian bowed her teal head and floated to the white haired man’s side. Obviously the doctor had chosen to be the kind of parent that was willing to ruin their child’s excitement and it didn’t really surprise Vyn what with her experience with him. She half wanted to encourage the girl made of clouds to stay when she heard her father figure was preventing her from fulfilling her desire to pet the creatures, but she restrained herself and gave the girl a wave – perhaps late on in the day they would bump into each other again and they could properly acquaint themselves. For now she turned her attention back to the critter, wiggling her fingers; eager to stroke it's cute furry head.
Ethan meanwhile had been standing observing the chimeras whilst Alex bounced between the people flocking towards the party. Already quite a crowd was gathering both here at the paddling pools and elsewhere. He smiled at the newcomers; one was a raevan (whom Alex greeted as ‘Dayo’) and the other was presumably her guardian (though he was not spoken to by the Italian). Nodding a head in his direction he decided that he should become more involved in discussion rather than hanging around quietly. The more raevan owners he introduced himself with - the more links he would have within the community. That was the aim of today after all he supposed.
“Hello, I’m Ethan Blake. Nice to meet you.” He gave the other man his most charming businessman’s smile before moving to his side, sidestepping Alex and Dayo. “Is that your daughter? She looks wonderful.” He complimented, admiring the girl’s long feathery brown hair and powerful looking eagle wings. With a proud smile curving his lips further he moved a hand towards Vyn who was still by the poolside, now trying to tempt the fox fish closer so that she could pet it. “My ward is Vyn.” He stated, evidently pleased that he could introduce himself as the rose’s guardian.

[[Popsicle Booth (Aphi only)]]
Aphismet straightened just in time for the dual-colored head of hair to tilt forward and read what he'd written. The chef smile already, prepared for a friendly chat after that cheerful "welcome!" that the booth's host had offered, but instead of the casual talk he'd expected, Aphismet found himself facing Alex's... "Brother"? She only had one brother as far as Aphi knew, Brad, and-..
"Oooohhh, Zeke!" Aphismet slowly realized, laughing at his own dense reaction. A very slight blush streak over his cheeks, embarrassed. "I should have realized, Alex spoke of you too! Yeah, I'm Aphismet, Alex's boyfriend. Jeesh, really, I must be sun-struck today. Just the hair should have clued me off! So you're Brad's guy, hunh? ..." Aphismet shook the offered hand of course, but now he had to blink and ponder. THIS guy? Dating BRAD? ...Well, opposites attract, but this was REALLY stretching that saying to the limit. Eventually the chef just chuckled and shook his head. "Wow, maybe Brad isn't all serious if he can be with someone like you, nice and cheerful. He's kinda scary."
Chocolate-colored eyes often glanced towards the BBQ station, keeping track of the people hovering near it... If anyone looked like they wanted anything, Aphismet had volunteered to provide. He just didn't expect many requests. "I don't want to distract you too long, seems busy here! So I'll be right over there by the BBQ. You and Brad should come over for dinner sometime, and we can all meet officially!" It'd be a GREAT excuse to keep Alex at home for more than two or three hours at a time, too. The girl was hard to nail down!

[ Vyn. Petting zoo --> Water's edge. ]
Eventually the foxfish succumbed to Vyn’s tempting and dropped its flighty nature to wiggle up against her pale fingers. A smile spreading across her features as the creature nuzzled her Vyn rubbed it generously. It was much smaller than Thorn, but Vyn utilised the same petting technique that she often used on him – scrubbing behind the ears and apparently creating a sensation of pleasure that neither the pug nor the chimera could refuse. Mewing softly the foxfish allowed her to continue to pet him for a few minutes, however, its active nature could not be kept still for long and perhaps due to a waving limb of the octopussy still being fondled by the coffee raevan it became distracted and fled from her affections, it’s powerful scaled tail propelling it through the water.
Taking this as a chance to leave the petting zoo and mingle elsewhere Vyn rose from her ‘kneeeling’ position. Though she had not really spoken to the frei who had been petting the eight limbed cat-creature she said a goodbye anyway, choosing to speak in Japanese – since he had greeted her in that language. When that was done she bobbed to her father’s side. He seemed to be beginning to set up a discussion with another man so she gently tapping his hand before informing him, “I’m going to look around.” He inclined his head to her in acknowledgement and Vyn took that as her cue to explore.
There were a few other stalls – a drinks one manned by Lazerus and Dr Kyou and a Popsicle one where Zeke was dealing with a small crowd of people. However, neither struck her fancy. After all, she could neither eat nor drink. Therefore, she was consequently drawn more to the scattering of raevans and humans enjoying the clean white beaches. A trio had collected a little distance away: Zul, Rivener and a human. But nearer was a girl raevan who seemed very unusual and interesting indeed.
Balanced on her wings another female raevan was steadily ‘walking’ across the sand. Her lavender hair fell down in a curtain obscuring her face, which seemed to be fixed on something on the beach. Perplexed at what could be taking the other frei’s attention Vyn drifted over to her with a few beats of her wiry leather wings. On closer inspection Vyn found herself mildly impressed by the girl’s appearance. Like Lucia she shared the same gothic looking style as Vyn; though her clothing was much less lacy and dominated by harder features like the morbidly interesting spider legs crowning her head.
Announcing her presence Vyn coughed politely into her hand, inspecting the other all the while. Whoever this unusual frei was, Vyn was definitely getting good first impressions from her style of dress alone.

((popsicle booth (All) Lucia -> oceanside Yuurei -> Beach))
Lucia looked utterly bewildered as Varun pushed aside Ronan in order to get to – her?! ”H-hi Varun.” She smiled shyly at the raevan she hardly knew. He, it seemed, hadn’t heard about everything that had happened with her since they last met. It was something she was glad for, but she just was uncomfortable. Her eyes followed the man she had been speaking to briefly, but returned to the other frei.
”Here? It’s sign ups for events.” She glanced down at where her name was written. ”See. This is a raevans only game. And there’s also that paintball thing from a few years ago. I’m not doing that one. And sandcastle building. My guardian is doing that.”
She was about to continue when a familiar man also hovering in front of the signups began writing down a name – Rivener. ”Hello Aphi.” Lucia smiled amicably and a little sadly at her former friend’s guardian. The last time she had seen him had been when Rivener completely rebuffed her. She was resigned to his hatred. Ty told her she did very well there being composed. But she held no scorn for Rivener or his white-haired guardian.
She glanced over at the drink stand briefly, realizing that another sigel was there, and that Rivener was gone. Turning to Ty she whispered in his ear, ”I’m going to say hello to some friends.” It wasn’t asking permission, but more hoping he would encourage it.
His boyish smile and slight nod was all she needed before turning to Varun. ”I’m going to go get a drink.” She pursed her lips into a small grin before turning towards the drinks.
Yuurei watched her go as Ty looked to Aphi. ”Hello again.” he said briefly to the chef, not wanting to interrupt his conversation.
The blonde woman nodded at Zeke, who had suddenly become very busy, before she turned to Ty. ”I’m going to set up a blanket for us on the beach.” Her navy flip flops flapped against the sand as she walked out a ways, from the groups of people and began laying out the pink and violet blanket, setting up both her own large white umbrella and Lucia’s lavender lacy one, should she choose to come by.
--------
Lucia, meanwhile, floated towards the drinks booth, but again, there was a large crowd forming there. Turning the other way, the Kitten went out towards the beach and the water, on the other side from Rivener with…Zul, Anya and Vyn, and Yuurei further up the beach setting up a spot for them.
The kitten settled down on the ground, just above the area where the salty water lapped gently at the shore and the small waves rolled up. The sun high in the sky didn’t bother her as she stared out at the shine of it against various waves in the water. There was too much going on for her right now. Maybe once everyone settled down a little more, she could return to the crowds. But for now, anyone who wanted to talk to her could come to her.

(( Oceanfront ))
Amusement brightened the demon's expression, noting the way the silvery eyes slid over his form and not minding in the least. Why would he? Zul wasn't arrogant, persay, but he did believe he was worth the look and did so enjoy being admired. It had been a long time since he'd received such attention, and after a long stretch of time being treated as a child, a student, a worker - all beneath something higher and better than he - it felt good to slip back into his self-assured skin, his wings slowly unfurling and stretching in a lazy fashion. Showing off? You bet.
He didn't stop her from reaching out to his ribbon, having no concern for it as long as she didn't reach for his rune. "Our bodies," he replied with a crooked grin and a lift of a dark brow. Having associated more with humans and having been to a club or two, he was rather aware of the insinuation his words could have possibly held. "It's nice to meet someone who is so..." he only briefly had to search for the proper word, "...receptive to us." Most first meetings were garnished with a sort of freakish stare or uncertainty. Lette's reaction was wholly different and entirely welcomed. He was just about to uncross his arms and do a turn around when a better pinnacle of what he would look like in time came to join them.
Zul's blue eyes briefly lost focus, lidding at the fingers that toyed with the back of his hair, tilting his chin down and uttering a low sound of pleasure that borderlined on a smoky purr. The sound faded at the words that followed, however, his eyes opening and flicking towards the Sigel in mute surprise. Did Rivener just claim him openly? He caught sight of Raevans not all that far from him - someone in a white dress he didn't immediately recognize, the unpleasant Anastacia and further down still, Lucia - but he could not yet greet them, or at least, the ones he'd care to. The demon tilted his head to the side to observe his deliciously bare-skinned Scorpion, deciding to keep his arms crossed; it would be safer that way, as he could not guarantee to keep his hands off the sightly Sigel. "This is Rivener," he introduced the Scorpion, his eyes roaming from ribbon-tip to crimson eyes in a fashion he wish his hands could.
"Rivener, this is Trinity." He paused, before adding a bit more hesitantly, "Or Lette." It was hard to introduce someone using a name he didn't particularly approve of. Then again, as one himself who went by a nickname (even if he'd never introduced himself with his full one), it was worth adding her secondary name if she preferred it. Pushing on beyond considering the power of names, he unfolded his arms long enough to curl his fingers towards the Sigel's impressive build, his knuckles just barely missing the skin. "This is what our ribbon becomes," he said with another knowing grin, especially given that the woman had just tried to touch his.

[[Drink Booth]]
Not only was the heat beginning to get to the girl, her forearms reddening at an alarming rate regardless of the amount of sunscreen she slathered upon them, but the pressing of the crowds around all of the booths had her attempting to take deep breaths and simply keep out of everyone's way. Everyone seemed to be talking to someone, or on their way to talking with someone. Doe screwed up her face slightly, rubbing at the back of her hand for a moment as she watched the general "familyness" of the group around her.
Perhaps it wasn't surprising to her, but it was certainly a bit depressing. She certainly wasn't feeling like a family member. You're just new, it takes time, she scolded herself, lowering her eyes and sneaking glances at ribbons as they floated past her gaze. The raevans were certainly the most noticeable in the groups, and often engaged no doubt for their popular draw. Doucette didn't want to interrupt.
As luck would have it though, she didn't have to. At Kenth's approach Doe took a quick side-step to avoid his path, inadvertently putting herself in the path of someone else.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" she breathed at the same time the raevan spoke, and Doucette couldn't help to let out the smallest of laughs at their joint apology. It certainly didn't bother her when her hat was given attention (for tweaked brims are much more preferable to tweaked cheeks) and she gave a nod as the woman's hand made the whole thing wobble. It was part of the reason Doe liked the hat so much, despite it's ability to get in the way of crowds such as this. "It helps a bit, with giving personal shade," she said, holding up her arm which was a deepening shade of pink under the freckles.
As the hand was offered Doucette dropped her own from observation and took the girl's lightly. She wasn't going to win any board member approvals with her small squeeze and no shake to mention, but Doe wasn't in the business world and didn't care for full-body shakes for introductions anyway. "It's quite alright...Pasha!" the Irish woman said amiably with a wide grin and twinkling blue eyes that tried to keep from drifting their gaze further south. She couldn't help it, Doe was still not terribly familiar with hanging out with raevans all the time.
"My name's Doucette, but you can just call me Doe for short if you'd like."

[[Oceanside(Riv) / Popsicle Booth(Aphismet)]]
Rivener had heard. Keen ears couldn't have missed the familiar timbre of voice taken when flirting, brought to light even clearer once this woman spoke in her usual voice to greet Riv. She'd been flirting with Zul, but surprisingly Rivener's reaction wasn't the wing-flaring jealousy he'd normally display. Today, he was in too good a mood. Today, Zul purred at Riv's touch and smiled, staring at the bare Scorpion so openly. All Rivener could feel about the flirting today was amusement. My Flower loves me best, the Sigel reassured himself with a chest-fluttering feeling, smiling as Zul introduced him.
"Pleased to meet you, Trinity-Lette." He had half a mind to "accidentally" move forward to initiate the touch Zul consciously refrained from, but the Sigel wanted to behave, especially if this woman was a newcomer to the Lab. "You've never heard of us before, have you? Raevans. And yes, as Zul says, our ribbons fill out with time. Eventually we're assuming we'll grow legs and look more like you humans, but for now we're this." And this, as far as Riv was concerned, was far superior. Flying and floating beat walking anyday.
He didn't want to seem impolite by speaking to Zul only, so Rivener attempted to include Trinity in what he said next, though the ruby eyes focused on Zul with a barely hidden fiery quality. "There are signup sheets for games by Zeke's popsicle booth: I signed up for Paintball and Seashell finding. There's also sandcastle building, but that sounds kinda meh for me. Are you going to sign up for anything, Zul, Trinity?"
Aphismet turned at the sound of his name, finding Lucia and her two guardians. The chef offered a smile and a nod of greeting: like Lucia, Aphi held no contempt for the group. If only Rivener could stop being stubborn about things... "Hello, Lucia," he replied to the kitten before she left.
Aphi's sunglasses-covered eyes then turned to Ty, returning the man's smile pleasantly. "Hello... Ty, wasn't it? Glad to see Lucia out and about. She seems well!"
