xLady Tsukiyox Lupes_Darkness Renkon Root Lupes_Darkness I couldn't tell you guys apart for awhile This pickled vegetable...Sometimes, when scrolling through the pages quickly, I will mistake one of Cal's posts for one of mine. ... could kick your a** !! I do that all the time... I don't know why because your post style is a red border and his is black. It's the black font. And the border is I think the same amount of characters. I'm the only cool person who uses a different font color ninja I used to use indigo back in BT, but I grew tired of constantly typing color=indigo along with size=9. It was driving me nuts, so I stopped using it. So I'm not cool anymore.

Lupes_Darkness Ziekara I don't think it helps that most of the people I've seen who try to "educate" so called "solitary Wiccans" usually come off as very aggressive and down right bullying. Most immediately start berating them, and putting them on the defensive. I've only seen one or two people who actually try to break it gently that Wicca is not what the new-age culture makes it out to be, and reeducate "solitaries" in a kind and understanding way. I understand that many real Wiccans are defensive about people misappropriating their title, believe me I do, but it does no good to get hostile and aggressive. A calm, understanding demeanor gets you a lot further in the long run. I agree with this. Unless I'm drunk, PMSing, or otherwise in a bad mood, I try to break it to them gently. Normally I let the more experienced regs as well as the real Wiccans explain and info-dump a bit, but if it turns into a pointless debate I'll come out of the shadows and try to explain it as non-offensively as possible. I have seen these people get offended over nothing, however, even when all the other person said was, "I'm sorry, but you've been misinformed. That's not Wicca, it's [ENP]." Then immediately they start talking about freedom of religion or some s**t.
Thus why I am now a SNF lurker reg... I watch a thread until a time I can do some damage control, if I can clean it up.I agree with what everyone is saying, but I'm new to Wicca in general, and I want to make sure I'm correctly informed so can you give me some info to make sure my ideas are correct? I've been reasearching and I've found some rather obvious posers in my search for answers(and I know if a new kid like me can tell then it really is rather obvious they have no clue what they're talking about XD). I just don't want to end up misinformed. Sadly I only have the Internet as a resource seeing as I'm 16 and being such I'm living with my parents, who are Christian(as is everyone else in my family). I don't have any real Wiccans to help me out where I live, and I'm still "in the broom closet". I am ,however, serious in my research. I want to be well informed before I go through with any form of initiation, and I know I need to be living on my own to do any rituals or much of anything(probably). So just to make sure what I was told was true can I get the the required beliefs for Wiccans? Sorry for the long response by the way.^_^'

Renkon Root This pickled vegetable...Why do you think it is that so many people claim to be Wiccan when they have no conception of what the Wiccan faith and practice really is?
Do they think the word "wiccan" is synonymous with "witch"? Is it the status/prestige of being a member of a mystery religion?
I have my own ideas of why and I'll post them after this thread gets a few responses, but I don't want to answer my own question before I get our opinions.
One other question: Why is it that, after it being explained to them what Wicca really is, people still want to pursue it even though its so strikingly different from the path they were already on? ... could kick your a** !! I'd say a combination of mis-information and the multitude of that information encouraging the misguided thought that Wicca = Witchcraft. I suppose, as others have said, it could also be the need to be different, wanting to be apart of some mysterious 'religion', which is also misguided. Then again, I myself know a very limited amount of information of many of these things. The main difference between people like that and me, is I'm nuetral-minded, and I'm not too stubborn to realize the truth. I practice the craft as protection and safety. I don't claim to be Wiccan, or Pagan (even though we aren't talking about paganism so much as we are wicca) although many people consider what I practice as being wicca. (Sorry if I tend to rant, but I like to throw more than just my two cents in more often than not.)

At this point i would like to make two formal apologies if at all possible. 1: I appologize for some of my previous claims as i have recently learned of their falsities.(I have alot to talk to my teacher about... He never told me anything different :S) 2:I also want to appologize If I come off as over-confident or as a know-it-all, I just want to share what I know and learn from the rest of you here. I guess that's all I have to say lol...
