I think that's sexy.

I don't know whether to scream "pervert" or like this comment XD But I could understand that view, just no heavy petting with the baby near. XP

Legally, a woman has that right.
So legally, I have no problem with it.

BUUUUUUUUT.

It's still nudity.
I think a woman should at least get a cover.

(It's not a trap; the IMG tags just don't seem to be working.)

It doesn't affect the baby's feeding in any way, and keeps other people's wishes and needs safe.

What about the people that have strict religious beliefs?
Looking at a breast, other than one's own wife's, is a sin.
What happens if they look over and see you breastfeeding?

I know the law says they have a right to do it, but I think women should at least think about whether or not they would like to cover up.

Or better yet, why not make sure you're at home/ in private when your baby needs to be fed?
(I know baby's are sometimes irregular, but through experience babysitting, I know they do start to create a schedule.)

Edit: Or why not step into the bathroom when your baby becomes hungry?
You could be in a stall, or just generally in there, and that would also give you a good place to clean up, or change diapers.

So, let me make sure that I have this right. You think that women that are just doing what they are biologically programmed to do are doing something wrong and should be ashamed of it just because a few people might have a problem with it? If you don't like it don't look. A woman's ability to feed her child is a blessing and should be seen as such. Every woman that I have ever seen breastfeeding has used a feeding cloth to cover up with. Further more, your suggestion that a woman have to be shunned to a toilet stall to feed her own child is preposterous and offensive to anyone who has had a child. Anyone can tell from your take on this matter that you must not have a child. Woman all over the world use their breasts to feed their children. In some cases that is the only manner in which they can afford...would you have a child starve because there is no bathroom around? Or would you have a child starve because they live in a society that dose not require fully clothed bodies, such as in Africa or South America? Not only do you have a weak argument, but a weak mind as well if this is truly what you believe.

this in particular caught my attention....

Quote:
In the fall of 1993, one of the undergraduate students in my 'Women and Culture' course was totally flabbergasted to discover that the biological function of women's breasts was for feeding children. With obvious shock and disgust evident in her voice she asked, 'You mean women's breasts are like a cow's udder?' That a young woman could reach college without ever having even heard of women using their breasts to feed their children is a sad commentary on American culture.

i was unaware that the actual use of the female Breast was being forgotten in america, and it makes me fear that the patriarchal and gender-role-based society we are living in far more extreme than i thought....

though it also makes me just have to question the credibility of this poster, for fear that it isn't one of those "men are evil" types of women blogging anti-man propaganda... sweatdrop it does have alot of evidence of it in there... >.>

anywho, i for one support the Civil Rights of Breastfeeding Mothers, there is no reason for people to think that it is obscene to Breastfeed. confused it's not like the act of Breastfeeding is sexual by nature.

though at the same time i don't see a problem with Breasts being viewed as a Sexual object either. talk2hand to try to unsexualize the Breast seems extreme and even cruel. neutral Respect for someone's Intelligence and Cunning and Wisdom, and Physical Attraction to them as Objectified Pieces of Meat, are NOT mutually exclusive! -.- i'm more than capable of simultaneously acknowledging and respecting someone's great mind and still thinking that they are a FINE piece of Grade A a** that i'd totally tap if i had the chance!

and why not? what's so wrong with have sexual opinions of people, or certain parts of their body?

i honestly think that whoever this woman is, has a huge stick up her butt that she needs to get rid of. she is generalizing all men and women, and i think it is unfair and misinformed. neutral

Lateralus es Helica
There was only once that I ever had a problem with breast feeding.

So I used to waitress and the restaurant I was at was close to closing. Anyways there were only two sets of customers in a restaurant with 200 tables. So the ones that came in first were a family with adults and three kids. They sat in a booth by the kitchen. Fine and dandy, no problem.

The second set was two parents and a four year old kid. I'm talking the other family had a child younger than this kid. They take the table directly in front of the booth the other family happened to be sitting in front of. Not only that, they faced the family that was seated there.

So family one is enjoying their meal. Whatever. Family two though, the parents are eating...but the kid's not getting s**t. I'm thinking maybe they gave the kid a happy meal before they came in. Hell no. Mom finishes eating, whips both breasts out, and starts breast feeding the four year old. Mind you, she's in direct view of the other family and as close as she can sit to them.

THAT was the one time I had a problem with breast feeding in public.

And I do also acknowledge that this was an absurd rarity that almost never happens but every time the breast-feeding debate comes up I can't help but think of it.

well, i'll be honest here. i'm in league with those known as "Crunchies", who are basically Hippie-Moms who believe in letting their kids grow out of Breastfeeding on their own time, rather than weaning them by force (among other issues). i agree with that, and stand by it. it seems healthy. nothing wrong with Breastfeeding past toddler age, even to pre-k, right?

anywho, while i can understand the seeming rudeness of going right up to another family out of all the litterally hundreds of tables there, knowing that they'd Breastfeed, i still know that they have a Right to do it. if they were aware of what they did and didn't care, then yeh a "******** you" might be deserved.... but other than that the argument can realy swing both ways in my opinion.

I don't mind it if they try and remain somewhat modest and they try not to make a show. Go ahead and feed your kid, I all fine and dandy with that, but try and be respectable about it. Don't just think having a kid means your milk sacks can just hang out all over and you're allowed to parade around about it. That just tells me how you got that kid in the first place.

woooooooooow, that was ******** rude of you! .____. you did nOT just go there?
