Kenton was slightly taken by surprise from the abruptness of the mares plea, on any other mare it would have seemed desperate or pitiful. why would anyone want to follow him around? but for some reason, because it was coming from Cali perhaps, Kenton was excited. a traveling partner would be grand! it was odd to think that only a few moments ago he was meeting this mare for the first time, and now they would be traveling together. he quickly composed himself and gave Cali a gentlemanly smile. "why young miss, i would find great pleasure in having you accompany me on my explorations."
it would indeed be a great pleasure, but not in the normal sense of pleasures. no, Kenton saw Cali as a good friend. he would not try anything with her. he would not even hint at anything pertaining affection, unless Cali asked for it specifically. it just wasent in kenton's nature, and last time he made the first move he found himself watching over three foals that all carried his blood. no, Cali was a friend, unless if she thought differently then to Kenton it would be just that.
"so, im on no specific schedule, so we can leave whenever you feel it right. if you have any business to attend to before we set off then get it resolved. i will be of any assistance if you need me, or i can stay here if it is something that must be done alone."

Breathing a sigh of relief, Cali smiled once again back at him. Feeling a bit childish - again - she pulled a mock curtsey-bow. "Thank you for finding me to be an adequate companion, good sir," she said oh-so-seriously, and tried to refrain from bursting into laughter. Tried and failed - giggles escaped her and flooded into the air like a dam breaking. She felt like a filly again, laughing like that. She hadn't had a good laugh in a long time.
Taking a deep breath, she cleared her throat and shook her head. "There is nothing I need to do. We can set off right now, if you would like." Oh, this was going to be fun! She couldn't help letting a grin slide onto her face.

Kenton beamed at her. this was great, he had found both a travel partner and a friend all in the same day! he shook his head with pleasure. "well then, what are we waiting for! lets set off right now!" he turned and raced up the side of the river happiness filling his heart.

Calixte trotted up next to him, laughing. "This is going to be so much fun! C'mon." Giggling some more, she nudged him on the neck. "Tag!" she yelled, sprinting off along the stream. She could feel the wind rushing through her mane. Stopping at a tiny waterfall, she waited for him to catch up. "We have a long journey ahead of us," she said. "Hurry up!"

kenton playfully raced after her. when he caught up he nuged her back and then took off again. "tag!" he laughed and raced up the stream. life was looking a lot better. he had a mission, a purpose, and a beautiful mare by his side. kenton felt indestructible. the world was his to explore.
