Tympest Awesome sauce, sounds like the characters should be more believable because of using traits to start them. It's why I used traits from real people. 3nodding Their personalities developed on their own from the short paragraphs I wrote to get into character for each of them. Unfortunately for Mina, this is the Middle Ages. Even though Mages in this society are considered to be on par with church officials, she is still female and subjected to discrimination. However, I did not want her to become like those over-the-top "ain't no man gonna tell me what to do" heroines. Sure, a female character who is determined to get past the stereotypes is good, but the "I don't need anyone, I'm better on my own" type has been beaten to death. D: So, she does depend on her male teammates... however, they depend on her as well. She has attack magic and defense magic (which includes healing), so she is vital to the survival of the group.

And I know it's bad to have favorites... but Karon was the most fun to create. ^^ (Not really a favorite, but I had more fun creating him than the other two.) He has a simple solution to things... even though it usually consists of blowing stuff up. ._. But, he does notice things that the other two miss because of his way of thinking. And although he's a thief, he's an "honorable" one. He never kills someone he steals from nor does he take anything with real value (usually just food or other supplies). The most "valuable" thing he's taken were horses when he, Adler, and Mina had to escape the burning village. (Of course, they were the horses Adler's cavalry had brought that he had stolen.) His thieving skills actually come in handy on several occasions.

Since this is my first novel, I'm trying to "take it slow," unlike SMeyer. >.> There was a reason why I didn't make Adler a swordsman. Usually, there's a swordsman in the group with these medieval fantasies, but I wanted this group to be a little different. The only one with anything close to a sword is Karon, although his "sword" is actually a knife he has. Later, it is a poison-tipped knife (since instead of using it for thievery, he has to use it as a weapon as well).

Tympest 19neko95 Alright, what I'm working on is based in my own world and is told like someone is sitting in front of you telling the story in first person. The people in that world gain animal attributes (ie ears, wings tails, abilities ect.) when they hit puberty. Mel (the main charater) grew up and when she hit "puberty" she didn't change and their was a prophacy that someone like her was going to come and change the world. So Mel has to run away from home or be killed. That's all I really have right now... So, are there people with visible traits, but no abilities? no they gain abilities that they have the traits of so like if they get cat traits they'd get really good balance and stuff along with ears and a tail.

Right now I'm doing some research on superstitions during the Middle Ages.

Would mutants with superhuman abilities (mind-reading, thought manipulation, walking on walls, etc etc) that people think are terrible monsters be good? Because that's the idea I have right now.
