Shaking her head gently she inhaled a deep breath and plunged under the surface of the water. It was calming as the deafening of the water allowed her to only hear the motions of the water vibrating in her ears. Swimming over to the fox as his feet came into focus she surfaced right infront of him and shook the droplets from her face and hair.
"For someone who likes swimming, you're not swimming much." She mused, tilting her head as she floated where she surfaced. "You know...for someone i've also seen more than a few times; I really don't know much about you! Were you an officer back when you were human? I don't even think I know when you came here in the first place..."
Indeed, he was as mysterious as Snake...minus the aspect that he could tell her where as Snake would have one hell of a time typing out a story - if he was allowed to disclose it. Treading in the shallow water in a half assed doggy paddle as she didn't really want to sit not stand on the bottom; she figured it would be nice to keep her limbs moving. "Have you met a lot of foxes here since arriving?"

He jumped a bit when she suddenly appeared in front of him, but the fluidity of the water prevented him from looking to stupid. "Being a shark or something?" he chuckled as he was splashed from her shaking.
"Weeeelllll........." he wasn't sure how to put his odd little quirk, so he decided to leave it unmentioned. That is, until she started grilling him.
"Whoa, slow down Chef! Gotta flip me if you want both sides cooked" he smiled nervously, knowing full well she probably wouldn't get it. "Ok...um. Yes..I was a Ranger before. Coincidentally I am here to, and I came here around a year ago...ironically on my own birthday of all things" he cast a look to the side, but shook it off.
"And yes...I've met lots of foxes. I couldn't tell you half their names now, but I did meet them" he finished up, praying she didn't have more questions. It always bothered him to talk about himself

"Mmmm, I don't think I have the size nor agility to be a convincing one; besides the one I like is extinct!" The vixen laughed gently, tilting her head a few moments later as she really had no idea what the heck he was talking about as she sat back on her knees in the water since it was deeper infront of him. Chef? Cooked? Maybe he already needed that sunscreen, although it really didn't seem so hot out that he'd be getting sunstroke now?
"You came on your birthday!?" She blinked, feeling sorry for the fellow. "And you got changed into a fox after that?" What a present that would be, she almost didn't want to even think about holidays now as a fox. Yet that was a long time from now till she had to worry. "Its good you've met some; even if it seemed like a long time ago?" She trailed off, either that or he was just very forgetful.
Leaning her head back to look up at the sky, she did ponder a few things as her tail swayed back and forth under the surface; tapping her chin with her paw. "It does make you wonder how many foxes are actually humans....it can't just be a fluke if its happened to a few already." Talk about one's mysteries! "Well, thanks. Its nice to at least know a bit more since well...it was kinda hard to try and talk to Snake let alone get some details!"

He rubbed the back of his head nervously as it was obvious she didn't get his expression, but there was no need to explain it. If she got to know him better, it would get explained in the future, but she switched gears on him
"Yup..one hell of a 24th birthday..and Halloween trick" he smiled sheepishly. He was glad she was switching gears fast. He didn't like lingering on such touchy subjects like that. "Well I meet lots..I can't remember everyone!" he smirked. He had a great memory for faces, but not names. Then she switched gears again. It didn't bother him
"I would imagine a lot. They just might not remember." he said as he too found his gaze looking up at the sky.

"Oi....i'd imagine." Kay didn't know what she would have done in that scenario, her ipod having been her only savior from losing complete sanity after she had been changed. Flopping back into the water so she floated on her back, the vixen turned her head and glanced over Banes' way.
"So I can assume you'll forget me too?" She said playfully with a wink, flicking her tail to propell her slowly along the surface. "I'd hate to have such a loss to my memory...I don't think I leave that place too much; unless its to lose myself in the clouds..."
She wondered absently if there was anyone in her household which had been a human before; as it hadn't occurred to her to ever ask them. Perhaps thats what she would have to do if she planned on staying, just get to know people better and like he said, start a new life. "Has it been hard, Banes, so start over again? Or is it like a vacation that'll never end?" Well, a fantasy vacation, anyways.

He looked over to her drifting, stunned she would even think such a thing. "There are many foxes I couldn't forget. I usually forget the ones I have fleeting encounters with...so unless this is a fleeting encounter, then I don't think I would forget that prett....I mean..you" He said trying to catch himself before he went into complimenting her in that way.
"Hard?" he had to stop and think about it. "I guess apart from the lack of bills...No..Didn't really have much of a life when I was human either" he chuckled lightly, before he too laid back in the water, more so just hovering a few inches over the sand rather than floating like she was
"How about you? I know you've told me you had problems here, but I never got the impression you had a bad life here"

"Well I would hope not either, you're one of the few friends I....." Did...she hear that right? Blinking for a moment she was sure she must have had water in her ears, and proceeded to use a knuckle to wiggle out any trapped water. "...have..." She finished, a few moments after the fact.
"Mmmm, I am looking forward to not paying for things like a phone, and my car...." She chuckled, it was kind of nice to be rid of those things; kind of like she was at a historical park. "You didn't? I can't say I had an exciting one either, other than being a run down university student!" Oh, how she wasn't going to miss studying in the slightest.
Turning her gaze back to the sky, she thought hard about what she was going to say next. "I wouldn't say bad.....when this was just a temporary job I was having the time of my life after adjusting. Yet I kinda drew back into myself after I changed....its not like I have anyone here who cares about me other than a few lose acquaintances at the time; I guess I just realized how alone I really was and was so desperate to just go back to my plan. I didn't think I was capable to adjust or even want to....but then meeting Shadowblitz, nearly dying from being poisoned by Hoshi; my run in with Snake and you....I'm getting crazy ideas that it might not be so bad here; you know?" The vixen burst out in a joyous laughter. "Either that or i've finally snapped and am insane!"

He decided not to further remark on his little slip up as she did catch it, and thought little of it...at least that's what she was hoping. He couldn't help but blush a bit and be glad they weren't looking at each other
"Insane? Nonsense. Best people are." he couldn't really add much to that without directly taking a quote from a recent sci fi film.
"Ah...well. Without food, this little trip by the lake can't last long?" he said as he floated to his belly and walked on shore, knowing she had a duffle bag of some food, but being nice he didn't want to go barging into it

"Mmmm, I'm sure..." Kay mused and at the ripples in the water she turned to look back at Banes to see he was getting out. She did suppose he was right, feeling thirsty it would be best to probably enjoy the sun a bit more as the water was so nice she'd stay in all day if she could.
"Go right ahead....There's a water in there for you too so help yourself." She called, diving down to make her way to shore and walked up and out onto the sand. It wasn't untill then she realized she felt like she weighted a ton with all the fur especially with the sinking of her paws in the shifting sands. Trudging up she grabbed her towel and stepped off to the side to try and shake off; failing for the most part as she wasn't used to it. Still, she managed to get most of the water out and after removing her hair from her ponytail she rubbed the water from her curly locks.
"Ah.....feels good!" She commented, once more able to appreciate the warm summer breeze while returning to her bag and Banes.

He nodded and walked over to the bag, quickly opening it and reaching in for an something to eat. He heard the splashing of water and looked over his shoulder to see the vixen stepping out. For a moment he swore it was something from a TV show where the hot girl stepped out of the water and shook her hair out of the water, all of course in gorgeous slow motion. Then he caught himself and went back to the bag, blushing slightly for thinking that way
He looked up and swore he saw something in the forest that looked unnatural, but when he blinked, it was gone. Hmm..must be..some kind of animal he tried to dismiss, feeling his heart pound just a bit faster

Having not noticed his lingering gaze by the time she returned, she bent down quickly and picked up one of the water bottles; unsealing the top and taking a swing. It was amazingly delicious from being cold, and let out a loud sigh when she'd taken her fill. "What'cha going to have Br...." She paused when he noticed he was staring off into the distance, and turned around to see what he was looking at.
...and of course saw nothing.
Looking back with a raised brow, her head tilted slightly as she inquired "You alright? Looks like you've seen a ghost." After she finished she laid the towel down on the sand and took a seat, curling her tail around her hips.

He whipped around quickly trying to regain his cool, but failed in so many ways. "N-n-nothing...Just..saw something weird" he stammered a little bit, occasionally looking over his shoulder wondering if what he saw would still be there, obviously to no avail.
"Well..uh...what..what do we have?" he said rubbings his paws together trying to put on a smile and forget what he saw.

It was a bit unnerving to watch the male stammer and seem so shaken; once more glancing back to see if she could spot what exactly he had seen but all she could see was the stillness of the forest. What could have had him so freaked? The vixen almost didn't want to know as her ears folded plank on either side of her head, looking back down at the cooler bag.
"Can you pass me the grapes? They should be near the bottom..." Pulling her legs up to rest her arms on them, she kept an eye out for any further strange signs from Banes....but tried to keep from getting nervous herself. "If....you like, we can go?"

Nodding and reaching for the bag of grapes, he quickly pulled them out and opened it, deciding he wanted some for himself. "How..many do you want?" he asked as he took a small part of a large vine for himself. "Or should I just hand you the bag" he said with a more easy going smile.
He couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was just lurking over his shoulder, but he refused to look back and see if there was actually something there. He was sure his companion would give him a heads up

Chuckling, she tilted her head and grinned. "Just a vine will be great, thanks." Looking back out across the water, she too was beginning to feel that feeling of being watched. However since she was in company she wrote it off as perhaps not remembering what it felt like. Stretching out her arms over her head to earn a few cracks of her spine, on the way to putting her arms down something caught the corner of her eye.
Looking back behind her companion her eyes widened for a moment as she saw a familliar entity race across the beach silently. She had no time to think; rising from her sitting spot to reach out and force Banes's shoulders down....she would have taken on Hoshi but with his ability to lose his shape well - it was a lost cause. "Get down!" She yelped, however a second later she was tacked by the excited beast onto the sand; trashing through the smoke of his body to get him off as he happily licked at her shoulders and back. "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" He breathed out, obviously rather happy in the daylight to have caught up to the vixen at last.
Coughing and trying to roll to a standing position she hissed out a "Damnit Hoshi get the hell off!"
