Actually, Hypnos is pansexual and loved by all the gods; Thanatos is asexual and there is only contempt between him and the Olympians. Nonnus, Dionysiaca: "On the ground that hapless girl heavy with wine, unmoving, was wedded to Dionysos; Hypnos embraced the body of Aura with overshadowing wings, and he was marshal of the wedding for Bakkhos, for he also had experience of love, he is yokefellow of Selene, he is companion of the Erotes in nightly caresses."Aeschylus, Niobe: "For, alone of gods, Thanatos loves not gifts; no, not by sacrifice, nor by libation, canst thou aught avail with him; he hath no altar nor hath he hymn of praise; from him, alone of gods, Peitho (Persuasion) stands aloof."I'd also at this junction like to point out the sheer IRONY of Dionysos accusing Hypnos of crossdressing. It would be more sensible to accuse Hypnos of being a flowerchild for his love of poppies, or a nudist because he grew up in the Golden Age, before clothing became de rigeur - but then, all the gods have sacred flowers and naked statues of themselves. Isn't that right, Hades Asphodelion? As for whether or not the twins could be considered fashionistas...well, they do look rather trendy in neoclassical attire.

What's that I hear?
. . . Oh yes, the absence of denial.
Item Eight.
Akherontis does bring up an interesting point, are all Greek deities nudists at heart?

Dionysus or Bacchus What's that I hear? . . . Oh yes, the absence of denial. Item Eight. Akherontis does bring up an interesting point, are all Greek deities nudists at heart? *stares dully at Dionysus* Do you have any idea how awkward you're making this??? Answering the question...NO. I thought the denial was a given. As a matter of course, Hypnos is not a crossdresser. That would be somewhat difficult in ancient society anyway, considering that men and women wore largely the same things. Dionysos managed it, though, but you can't blame him. He was raised as a girl to hide him from Hera.
Hades, you can't NOT be a nudist, you spent your whole childhood in your father's belly.

Did I choose to? NO. It was uncomfortable then and I still can't get dressed without feeling awkward, okay? So therefore I am NOT a nudist. *sticks tounge out at you*

history goddess Well if your going to blame it on the artists, then none of you are nudists... even aphrodite... which she should be... right?! eek Oh, we have authorial evidence that Aphrodite was a nudist on occasion, but I'm not going there. Anyway, the point is that the gods usually wore apparel as it was sensible to do so, but they were also completely comfortable with nudity because they were physically divine beings and had nothing to be ashamed of. The notion of a GOD being sheepish is odd to say the least.
