A few days after his odd encounter with Jianyu, Bataar had decided that he was going to go out and experiment. That was why there was a half-flattered, half-scared girl in front of him, trying to politely refuse his offers to date her. He had to fix up his reputation and prove to everybody-- Jianyu, especially --that he was straight! His mother had a lot to do with this, too; he was sure he might be killed if she found out about the awkward kisses he'd shared with the Legionnaire. The poor girl in front of him didn't seem to understand this; he'd spotted her in the middle of the street and had decided to fix things up then and there.
"Please! I'm sure it was love at first sight! I mean, you are a girl, right?" The Mongol puckered his lips, watching as the alarmed female moved back a step. She was, she insisted, flattered, but they should probably take things a bit more slowly. Apparently it was hard to completely reject a man with as good a physique as his.
Bat frowned, rubbing his chin and observing his captive. "C'mon! Just one kiss?"

Walking down the crowded Main Street of Lunaria, Jianyu held a bag of food in one hand, the other hand raised to absentmindedly twist the beads in his hair. Though it had been a few days since his...admittedly, somewhat strange, encounter with Bataar, he couldn't seem to keep his mind clear. It was unbelievably frustrating that no matter what he seemed to do, his thoughts kept turning back to those kisses in Bataar's tent.
Jianyu let out a frustrated sigh. He turned the corner, running a hand through his hair.
And then stopped.
"Oh, for heaven's sake - "
Jianyu stalked up towards the figure standing over a few feet away.
"Bataar!" he snapped. "What the hell are you doing?"

The girl bid him farewell almost as soon as Jianyu materialized from around the corner and Bataar frowned, looking faintly troubled as the Legionnaire approached. He didn't understand why he'd been refused by her; it made no sense! Not when he was as perfect as he was! The maroon Lunarian shook his head, finally giving up on seeking out an explanation for the girl's behavior and turned to Jianyu.
"I am getting a girlfriend!" he declared, his green eyes glittering with determination. Yes; a girlfriend would be the answer to all of his troubles. He'd lately figured out that he wasn't too learned in the art of womanizing, which clearly made him much less of a man.
That would not do!
As he mused on this, his eyes traced the contours of Jianyu's face, pausing as they registered the Legionnaire's lips. "You." he decided in a measured tone, sounding abrupt. "You can be my girlfriend!" They did seem to kiss often, didn't they?

Jianyu watched the girl dart frantically away from Bataar and rolled his eyes. Hauling the bag of food in his hand up to rest on his shoulder, he folded his arms across his chest, his expression darkening.
"You are not getting a girlfriend." he snapped. "What girl would possibly want you?"
And why does it bother me so much that you might get one? Jianyu closed his eyes briefly, shaking his head of the absurd thoughts.
The declaration from Bataar stopped him cold. Jianyu raised his head, staring at him.
"What the - are you - you idiot!" he sputtered, feeling his face grow red. "What the hell are you thinking? I can't be your girlfriend!"

"Pfft! More like, what girl wouldn't want me?" Bataar paused to flex his biceps, looking extremely proud of himself. He was clearly convinced that he was a very good pick when it came to the ladies, perhaps because of his complete density of mind. He didn't see why anyone wouldn't want him.
He frowned at Jianyu's seeming rejection, tilting his head. "Why not? Are you still sick from the other day? Your face is red!" Bat crossed his arms, looking rather displeased. He'd thought Jianyu of all people might agree! He was puzzled as to why the Legionnaire seemed so against it.
"Besides, you kiss me all the time." he pointed out, a pout forming on his lips. If Jianyu didn't agree, then how in the world would he make himself more manly?

"I am not sick." Jianyu said, scowling as he leaned back against the wall of a nearby store. "Just trying to stop you from doing something stupid."
His blush deepened as Bataar continued talking. Jianyu wished that something would happen, that something could come and take him away and that he was anywhere but here, in front of Bataar, in front of this...this person.
Why? Jianyu thought, running a hand through his hair. He couldn't look at Bataar. This person...completely messes up my pace! I'm not the same around him. I need to get control of what I do. I need to stop acting so idiotic. It's not me.
"I do not kiss you...all the time." Jianyu mumbled, his face turned away as red creeped into his cheeks. "Stop assuming ridiculous things. Besides, why me? Why do you need a girlfriend, anyway?"

"Well, whatever. My cold was gone yesterday." Bat replied smugly, believing Jianyu to be dealing with the same virus he'd gotten. He absently ran a hand through his hair as he watched the Legionnaire turn completely red, raising his brows. Whatever Jianyu was sick with, the fever seemed to be coming on rather quickly.
Bataar himself didn't realize that he was acting any differently with the other Lunarian. He wasn't very analytical of his own feelings or actions and believed all attraction to be purely natural-- something that just happened, awkward or not. He liked Jianyu well enough, so wasn't it only natural to use him to work on his skills of manliness?
"Yes, you do! Did you forget the other day?" Bat pointed out with a high degree of frankness; he didn't see it as anything to be ashamed about.
Why did he need a girlfriend? "Because I am a man, and because men have girlfriends!" Sometimes, Bataar's logic impressed even Bataar.

"I did not forget what happened the other day." Jianyu said darkly. "But it seems you have."
Jianyu let out an exasperated sigh. He put a hand to his mouth, trying desperately to ignore the heat that seemed to rapidly rise in his cheeks every time he was around Bataar.
This guy... he thought. He's going to kill me, I swear.
"Not all men have girlfriends, you moron!" Jianyu snapped angrily. "Besides, someone with your lack of intellect and obvious disdain for the feelings of others make you a perfectly horrible candidate for any sort of romantic relationship! There is no way that you can be in a relationship, no matter how hard you just 'want' it!"

Bataar was confused. "What? My memory is perfect!" he objected, a frown marring his features. He didn't understand why Jianyu was acting so damn odd; it made absolutely no sense to the Mongol. It was actually beginning to frustrate him beyond belief; the other Lunarian was acting as if he'd done something wrong!
He gazed at Jianyu in a blank sort of silence as he yelled, his eyebrows furrowing. He didn't deserve such a severe barrage from this guy!
"Are you saying you don't like this?" As he spoke, he grabbed Jianyu's wrist and pulled him close, pressing a brief, pressured kiss to his lips. He was perfect boyfriend material! Bat didn't understand how Jianyu could reject him with such feeling; it wasn't as if he was guilty of anything.
It definitely wasn't fair. "And when did you decide that for me?"

"I never said - " Jianyu started to say hotly, but Bataar's fingers closed around his wrist and suddenly he was pressed up against him, Bataar's warm lips against his own. Color rose in Jianyu's cheeks, and he felt a swooping sensation in his stomach as Bataar pulled away.
"I decided it when I met you!" Jianyu snapped. "You never take anything seriously, Bataar. What makes you think you could take a relationship seriously? And why me? Do you like it? Do you like kissing me?"
He's teasing me, Jianyu thought, glaring angrily up at Bataar. He's making fun of me. I know he is. He would never ask me this seriously.

Bataar's green eyes narrowed at Jianyu's continued rejection and he tightened his hands around the other man's wrists. "What doing you even mean, taking something seriously?" he growled, sounding extremely disdainful as he regarded the Legionnaire. His frustration was growing by the minute, although he couldn't pinpoint its source.
He was asking odd questions, too. "Yes, I like it. Why else would I ask, dumbass?" he replied, resisting the temptation to punch Jianyu. He seriously wanted to knock him out at this point; he felt as if he were arguing with someone who had inaccurately tried to read his thoughts.
"And look at you. You're certainly acting like a woman, anyway, screaming your head off." he added, not without some spite.

Jianyu tried to yank his hands free, but Bataar's fingers were like iron gripped around his wrists. The man was impossible to break away from.
"I am not screaming." Jianyu said testily, feeling his face turn bright red. "Don't you know how much I hate this? How much I despise feeling like this? What the hell is the matter with you? Stop making fun of me!"
He'd stopped resisting now, his forehead resting against Bataar's chest. Every part of him felt tired, worn out.
I am tired of feeling this...I'm tired of being made fun of.
"Stop making fun of me." Jianyu said softly. "And stop...making me act like this. You're completely messing up my pace."

Jianyu deserved a slap. A punch. Anything of the sort. And yet Bataar wasn't shifting into battle-mode; he himself was much too confused. The other man's attitude was altogether odd, and it was affecting Bat in some way that he couldn't exactly identify. He brushed it off, turning his attention back to the Legionnaire.
"Jianyu, I am not making fun of you." he replied with some feeling. "And you're yelling at me." He detached a hand from Jianyu's wrist to rest it gently on his cheek. "You're warm; you must be sick." he muttered, glad that there seemed to be an explanation for the awkward situation.
Today was making him frown much more than he usually did."I'm not doing anything to you; it's the fever." he responded hopefully. Jianyu wasn't any sort of lunatic, was he? Bataar had been being sincere! He needed to put off the other man's behavior to something simple.

"You are making fun of me." Jianyu said, but his voice had grown quieter, with less feeling in it. "And I don't have a fever."
He leaned into Bataar's hand, closing his eyes. Everything seemed to be spiraling around in circles, and he couldn't seem to get his thoughts straight, couldn't seem to act normally around this man that he was supposed to hate, that he was supposed to be enemies with, that he was supposed to despise.
It wasn't working. Nothing was working. His thoughts kept repeating themselves.
"Bataar." Jianyu said, without raising his head, his forehead still on the Mongol's chest. "I think...
"I think I like you."

Bataar definitely objected. "I think I would have it figured out if I were making fun of you! As it is, I personally don't believe you know how to read my mind." he scoffed, looking rather irked by Jianyu's dissection of the situation. He really hadn't intended on offending the other man, and wasn't even sure how he'd managed in the first place.
Upon hearing Jianyu's next statement, Bataar was sure that he must be terminally ill. "It's okay Jianyu," he replied, giving the Legionnaire a brief hug. "Everyone likes me!" he grinned, failing to notice just how awkward he must have made the situation for the other man.
Clearly, he hadn't understood it to be that kind of like.
"So does that mean you'll be my girlfriend?"
