"..." for a few seconds, Penn ignored everything around her, focusing instead on the mangled roots of the mother tree. Urges. They were rising, strong urges. She wanted to just not think and instead do... but that's not how she became a captain.
"The cat is a nekomata -a demon cat of sorts- and he, she, or it belongs to the crew and ship of a friend of mine. Indeed, what Raspun told you is true: the ship has better accommodations, food, things of that sort. Just that the captain won't allow anyone but him and me on that ship. Personal reasons. And..."
Penn rubbed her temples. The nearest root began to smoke at the tip and turn black. She took a deep breath, and the smoke stopped.
"And I'm doing this for you as well as for me. We just had unexpected company and I have the info I need. We're heading to the Devil's Run first thing tomorrow. Maybe I'll stop at the library when all this is over..."

“Yes ma’am.” She almost set her tree on fire and that just never is a good thing. “Nekomata huh? I’ve probably heard of them once or twice…or something related. Heheheh kitty demons...”
Sinsario kept his gaze on the ship’s floor trying to put the pieces together, but he really couldn’t. Ah well, that just probably meant that he’d get his tree sooner than if he did all of this alone. Actually, by himself he’d probably never make it to the thief’s ship. Besides, his usual crew are all on their own vacations for about thirty to forty years, and has no idea where they went off to.
“Yes, whatever you say…and hey, that’s why I’m gunna stick around anyway. ‘Cause you’re helping me.”
