Kaiser grabbed onto his fluffy green pelt when the woman mentioned wanting it to decorate her hat. Captains...they were so heartless. Just because they owned a ship they thought they could push little green rabbits around. Not him, no sir. Maybe if he put on an eye patch then he would be a little more frightening...like Polaris.

Polaris nodded her head in agreement with the other captain about how you get use to it. In all reality she could not relate, she had both men and women on her ship but all were military. Everyone was so horribly well behaved that it seemed dull about the place. Her ship could run itself but without a general she was certain it would fall into chaos. The only drama they ever had was her little pet and first mate trying to drink the cellar dry.

As she called over her crew member Polaris stood back a little, her single green eye scanning over her. With a small smile Polaris nodded at her and spoke up in a rather warm and friendly tone, something very rare for the very cold and serious captain. "Hello there." The girl was green she could see that miles away, and she seemed rather out of place among the confident and cocky patrons of the tavern. Looking back to the drunks babbling and making a ruckus Polaris gave her a little tip. "Well with those loud gents there it will be hard to get someone to serve you. Just let her hear you a little and she will walk over."

Kaiser looked over the shy little girl winking his eye only to have a harsh grip grab his scruff. "Oh my dear little rabbit why don't you use those ears of yours for some serious work then." Kaiser looked up at Polaris with a little smile and glancing up at the large rat on her shoulder. Ophelia's ruby red eyes looking down on him. Sometimes he wanted to rip that stupid rat off her shoulder and eat it. Why couldn’t she had a parrot like a normal person?

Brushing off his coat he stiffened up and glanced around sniffing the air when he focused in on a man seeming to watch everyone around him. "Sir...Sir, gunpowder, whisky, a hint of grim and something else. Sound familiar...couldn’t tell you the brand."

Polaris looked up at the dark haired man before diverting her attention back to the other captain and speaking up at her rabbit, "I see him, keep your eyes on him." She spoke up looking back at the shy girl wondering why she was flying about on ships, she just didn't seem like someone who would. "So what made you decide to join a sky ship crew? Adventure it certainly was not fortune." Polaris was speaking from experience but then again everything she made was put into the upkeep of her ship.

Petite occupied herself with looking through the tea options set before her. After tying away her own herbs and storing them away in her pockets, she carefully selected her tea. It smelled vaguely like mint and ginger. She worked with her newly acquired tea and hot water, placing the teabag in the mug and watching it steep. It certainly smelled pleasant enough, but couldn’t power through the stagnant scent of liquor. With a shrug and deep sigh, Petite took a sip of her warm tea.

“I see.” Petite finally responded, “I suppose if those around you prefer you to act a certain way, you should. Or…maybe not, but…that’s not my place to say, is it?” She turned to face the rest of the tavern, holding her warm mug like she would a bowl. Rarely did she pursue to change the opinions of people. Most were convinced that Aging was an incurable disease, and that their lives should be live to its fullest. She herself often wondered if her own existence (or lack thereof) should be treated in such a manner. Gazing thoughtfully into the liquid, she conceded to Denwale’s logic, “I can understand, I think. I often change to suit the personalities around me.”

Petite took another sip of her tea and smiled, “Perhaps you could assist me. As I may have mentioned before, I am looking for a doctor of some sort.” She chuckled, “Or, at least, a quieter place to rest. I’m sure a tavern is not the place for me, though the tea is excellent.” She added the last bit while taking another sip, "Strange that I never visited a proper one until today."

Sil couldn't help but give a small chuckle at the girl's uneasiness. She was really going to have to work on that confidence of hers. She leaned back against the back of the booth's seat. "You don't have to be so nervous around me, Stoki." She waved her hand a bit, closing her eyes. "And don't bother with that captain stuff. You can just call me Sil." She had gone over this with Stoki since day one, in fact, Sil didn't really like anyone calling her by that title. It gave a sense of ranking amongst her crew, and she wanted everyone to feel like equals.

The shifter's ears perked slightly, looking over towards the young man which the other captain was speaking of. Didn't look particularly threatening, at least, not to Sil. Then again, Sil didn't have much of a strong sense of preservation. That probably stemmed from the fact that her ship wasn't about grand adventure or treasure like most of the other captains she met, but scientific advancements, so she didn't run into much trouble.

With Polaris's conversation mover, Sil smiled a bit and looked to Stoki. "The SS StarSeeker is a vessel for scientific purposes. Stoki here is our new casimir tree expert." She motioned towards Stoki with a hand, her ears twitching as a thought crossed her mind. Sil then turned, holding out the same hand to the other captain in a greeting gesture. "By the bye, I'm Sil Alsopp. Captain and Head Astronomer on the SS StarSeeker."

(Aylin's reply to Beatrice)

The gesture made by the woman with the whiskey glass did not go unnoticed by Frank. He walked over to the trio of women, looking Billy's way to see him getting the hot water and tea display. Upon reaching the women, whom he now knew the woman with the whiskey was the youngest, Frank took the empty glass from her hand and set to pouring another whiskey on the rocks.

At the same time, Aylin folded her wings, sat back in her chair, smiled, and gave a little chuckle. Her kind made their homes in the more secluded places on Gaia that it wasn't unheard of for someone to not realize a pixie when they saw one. Aylin took a sip from her stein savoring the nutty flavor of the ale she was nursing before replying to the younger woman.

"I can fly with them, but it's not our exclusive mode of transport. We save that for when it's absolutely necessary and they come in handy when we're jumping down from rather tall trees and the third story window in a tall Durem building. They help build up some great ramming speed during a fight, I'll tell you. Yep, these wings are quite the piece of work," Aylin responded with a hint of pride to her voice before realizing neither one knew who the other was, "Ooop, where are my manners today. I'm Aylin Rhys but you can just call me Aylin. The woman with the pad of paper is Shirley and I can only guess her last name would be Andrews now. It has been forty-eight years you know."

By the time Aylin had finished her little piece on her wings Frank had returned with the refilled glass of Whiskey on the rocks, placed it on the table, pulled out a small pad of paper, and made two small ticks on it under a W. The young woman now had an open tab.

(Denwale's reply to Petite)

Denwale chuckled and took another large sip from his stein. The people around him could tell he was going from obnoxious to the man they loved with each sip. He wasn't quite there but he was close. The young lady had finally understood that it was for the best to just accept the fact that the people weren't going to let Denwale change one bit. Her comment about never stepping foot inside a tavern until today stood out to Denwale. If his meek and sober side had anything to say about it he'd probably never come back to the Red Lion but something inside of him always pulled him into the place.

"Little lady you have one of two choices here. You can go to the clinic near the residential part of the island proper and be guaranteed to see a doctor or you can take your chances down below and hope the medical barge is docked again," Denwale replied, "Personally, I'd go with the clinic because it's, you know, always going to be there."

With his response finished Denwale downed the last of his beer, placed the stein on the bar, and called out to Billy, "You know what the people want Billy boy. Give this bad boy some head."

Stokiaci, cocked her head to the side as a lady she had never met addressed her. She definitely looked like an important person. She could see the military credentials on her uniform. There was a large rat resting on her shoulder. Stoki also noticed she wore an eyepatch. Maybe a pirate instead? Stokiaci had never met a pirate, and was extremely scared about running into one. She imagined that they would take her captive and force her to cater to their every need. She shuddered involuntarily. She looked at the lady again..and thought..no she wouldn't be here without making a fuss if she was a pirate. Plus, she wouldn't be nearly so nice to me if she was. Stokiaci smiled at the lady. "Hi, oh...uh, thanks for the tip." As Stokiaci looked about the room again, she noticed the little green rabbit looking at her. He was quite peculiar and..was he winking at her? Stokiaci scrunched up her face in confusion, and thought does he not know I'm a human?..Weird little guy. She watched as the military/pirate lady grabbed him, and then adverted her gaze away as they seemed to be talking about something private.

She glanced across the booth at Sil. Stokiaci shrugged her shoulders, crossed her arms over her chest and leaned back against the seat. She was about to ask Sil a question when she heard the other lady address her again. Looking up Stokiaci said "It's actually quite a story. It's certainly not by choice. I'd rather stay here in Denia and do my research." She stopped and glanced at Sil "No offense, I'm just not use to the ship yet. I'm sure I'll end up loving it." She looked back to the lady and continued. "My boss figured I could collect different data aboard a ship. So it's what he wants me to do at the moment. I think he believes that the farther away I am..the better off he is"

Stokiaci paused to think for a minute. What she was doing wasn't exactly classified information. It was the first time she ever presented an idea to her boss that gained his approval. Stokiaci leaned forward, placed her elbows on the table, rested her hand against her cheek and continued the story. "You see I'm a botanist. I have a casimir tree that recently started to sparkle. It's a very curious thing because I've seen other trees that don't sparkle. I felt the need to find out why mine does..and others don't. My boss agreed. I was lucky enough that Sil here allowed me to come on board. She has the best equipment and lab available to do what I need to do. If it weren't for her, I'm sure I'd be on some other ship with a bunch of cutthroat pirates. I think we all know how that would end." She smiled shyly realizing how much she was beginning to ramble. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get carried away." Stokiaci looked down at the table. She was slightly embarrassed at revealing so much information to someone she didn't know, who might possibly be a pirate...Oh I hope I didn't offend her.

"Use in moderation, huh? I understand. They sure seem handy, 'specially when you're hanging about on a floating tree, I guess. Not that Durem three-stories are to be underestimated, either."

Now getting thrown into a proper introduction, Beatrice struggled to get her black right-hand glove off in order to shake the others' hands, while at the same time giving bartending Frank a quick thank-you look. As the glove finally came off, she reached out her somewhat scarred hand at the women whom she now knew by name. "Beatrice. Just Beatrice, that'll do. Never ever 'Bea', mind you!" The last part she sounded very serious about. "So, you're a bit from Durem, too, Aylin?" She emphasized on the name, and then quietly pronounced it again to herself, perhaps adding it to some sort of mental name-list.
PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 7:17 pm

"That'll do, I think." Petite replied, "Thank you very much." She added with a small tilt of her head. Denwale had provided sufficient answers, though she didn't entirely understand why shyness was considered so shameful and Denwale was not the one to ask. Aside from that, she had much more important things to do.

Petite abandoned her tea for a brief moment to retrieve the rest of her gear. On her way back, she began sorting through, looking for a notebook and pencil. With a heavy thud, she unceremoniously set it on the counter beside her tea, "How much for the tea?" She asked, glancing at Billy, though she only met his gaze for a moment before shoving her head into the large sack, still searching for a notebook amongst the various papers, baubles, and herb pouches. She may have even found a small, stuffed cow of some sort, but dismissed it.

(General response to Petite)

Billy, in the midst of pouring another round for Denwale, responded to the young woman's question, "For the tea it's three gold coins."

Tea was cheap compared to other beverages served at the Red Lion. Billy worked a good head on the beer and placed it near Denwale who picked it up and started drinking again. It was clear from his actions Denwale was looking at a well dressed man and making kissing motions. Billy chuckled and knew Denwale was at that moment trying to creep out some visitor or local office worker. Looking over to the young woman, who was rummaging through a heavy looking bag, Billy realized Denwale had never found out her name during their conversation. Billy was a bit curious as to who she was if she engaged in that long of a conversation with Denwale.

"You know Denwale here forgot one of the more important part of conversing with someone, the introductions. So yeah, as you may have heard I'm Billy and the older guy over on the other side of the bar is Frank. If you ever want a decent cup of tea and someone to talk to we're always around miss..." Billy said indicating that it was her turn to tell him who she was.

Luciano adjusted his goggles, which were situated on his head, he then overheard talk about a ship, and then someone talking about Durem. A smile crossed Luciano's face, 'Ah finally!' he thought, 'people from Durem!' He thought of getting up to go introduce himself, but he didn't know exactly who he heard talk about it from.
Luciano got up from his chair and went to look around the place a bit more. The more he walked around, the more he began to love it. He loved the vibes he was getting. He wandered on to the other side of the room, politely walking around the conversing females and some guy to go to the window to look out.
Luciano looked out the window, he could see average people walking around. The environment, despite it being foreign to him, wasn't too different from Durem. Average people with average lives just going about their daily business as usual; he assumed. The only thing different was, everyone was living on a floating Island. He smiled once more and made himself comfortable in his new spot, just watching people outside pass by.

Simultaneously searching through her bag and pulling a various coins from her pocket, Petite nearly missed Billy's voice. She pulled her head from the bag, only a pencil in her hands as reward, "Nobody." She replied without a second thought.

So rarely did she give out a proper name. Even 'Petite Symphony' was only a pseudonym. Once she had an elderly lady call her Delilah, so she spent a few months going by that name. Who she was changed so often, Petite doubted she would ever find a consistent identity.

Petite dismissed her confusion and counted out three gold from the coins in her hand. Placing the coins on the counter, she once again began her search for a piece of paper, at the least. She finally felt some paper and pulled it out. It was a tragic little thing, worn and ripped with faded scribbles barely legible on it's surface. Petite spent a brief moment decrypting the text, making out on a few terms involving astronomy and aliens. Deciding it was unimportant, she looked at Billy with a large smile, "Could you give me directions to the medical facilities, please?"
PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 9:44 pm

At that moment Luciano suddenly caught someone mentioning something about a medical facility. Luciano looked over for a moment, and realized a girl holding a pencil had made mention of it. He cocked his brow and he thought, "If they have any of those up here, I doubt they might be able to do anything. . things don't seem to be too advanced up here." he thought. And judging from how the girl looked he didn't see anything wrong with her, then again there is more than meets the eye. Even he knew that. He adjusted his mask and then quietly observed a bit more.

Billy smiled as he leaned against the bar. People came into the Red Lion who really didn't want to leave behind a way to find them all the time. They were people stopping over for the day as their ship let off passengers or took on cargo. Whatever the reason they came in, got their drink, and said as much as necessarily possible. He was used to it by now.

"Well at the very least you've earned yourself a special Billy bestowed nickname. From now on when you come in here you're Miss Lavender for your unique eye color," Billy said with a smile before answering her need for directions, "About those directions. Since I'm assuming you want to be guaranteed a doctor will be around, the clinic is the place to go. Upon exiting the Red Lion you turn left on Casimir Street and take that over Denia Creek at the footbridge. Now you keep on that for a mile when you come to an intersection. Pay attention to the street names because there's two different ones there. You want to turn right on Casimir Road not Casimir Avenue to the left or Casimir Way, which is really a small alleyway before the Casimir and Casimir intersection with Casimir. It's weird I know and confusing to newcomers but hey Eric MacMillian wasn't too creative when laying out the rest of the town after the uprising back in 1921.

You go down Casimir Road about half a mile and you'll see a small grouping of buildings to your left. That's the Denia Unified Schools. On your right you'll see four buildings all lined up in a row. Turn and face them and the second one in from the left is the one you want. You'll see a nice wooden sign in the front that says Denia Medical Clinic on it. Go inside and see Nancy the receptionist. She'll help you out with seeing the doctor."

"Alright" Petite smiled at Billy, accustomed to gained nicknames and aliases as time went on, though she never fully caught on to the reason why she was getting so many nicknames. hurriedly wrote the directions down, muttering the names and lanes as she did so. After looking them over for a moment, she smiled back up to Billy, "Thank you, Sir." and turned to Denwale, "And thank you."

She very quickly finished off her tea and slid the empty mug at Billy. Stuffing what few belongings she carried back into her bag, Petite made for the door, a broad and toothy smile on her face.

The door to The Red Lion Tavern opened and closed. Amber Demidov wasn't one for socializing, although she was willing to try. Carrying around her big a** portfolio didn't really help, either, so she placed it down on the floor near her seat at the bar and sat down.

She looked at the bartender and smiled. "Have anything sweet or bitter?"
