To say rain bothered Snack would be an overstatement. It did however startle him slightly at first, the heavy downpour plopping down on his fur like invisible attackers. He growled, crouched down to retaliate until a drop landed on his nose--letting him know it was just water. He let out a chuff of some indeterminable emotion before trotting forward.

A few moment later he stopped mid-step as his ears twitched. He turned his head, sniffing the air and then with a motion to his friend, trundled into the brush after something.

On the other hand, Toothless loved the rain. It was like swimming on land or in the sky when in flight. He held his head high as if trying to get closer to the source of the droplets. When he looked back at Snack to see how he was having fun his yellow eyes widened. It didn't look like Snack was having much fun at all.

He unfolded a wing and begun to extend it to shield Snack from the rain. However the wing stopped when his friend paused in mid step. For a moment Toothless stood and watched carefully. When he was motioned to follow Toothless quickly tucked his wing back to his side and followed his friend.

"....?"

He slunk through the vivid green bush, paws pressing into the wet dirt, as the scent of a mini otter filled his nose. The glow of his eyes seemed to brighten with a feral lust for play or food and he stopped briefly to grin over his shoulder at Toothless. "I smell minis," he explained.

Briefly, he glanced down to see that his paw print had come down on a great many tiny prints. He let out a odd squeal of excitement deep in his throat that was rather squelched as he headed forward at a slow pace of a hunter--or one playing hide and seek.

Toothless sniffed the air as well. There was definitely something off about the scent, something very new! His tail twitched. Mini? A very strange term.

"hrummm?" He hummed quietly to Snack as he tilted his head to the left just slightly.

When snack took off Toothless took time to briefly investigate the tiny paw print, compare it it his own much larger print, than take off after Snack in somewhat of a similar fashion. He had to move a bit faster to make up for the time he took to investigate the tiny print.

Snack crouched low to the ground, stride measured to be quiet, following his nose more than anything. His ears twitched at the sounds around him--Toothless behind him, a mini or a dozen ahead, insects everywhere--and it was somewhat hard to shut it all out. Add that he really wasn't hungry at all, tracking down the scent was more out of fun, he was making a great many mistakes. Such as the way his tail was unconsciously thwacking the muddied ground around him because tracking was rather boring.

Following the tracks to the bush, he stopped, staring at them and then at the bush. He sat up thinking. Was it in the bush? Or behind the bush? He sniffed the air and then turned to Toothless as if to ask him which way they should go.

It didn't help the situation further that Toothless was mimicking Snack's every movement, especially the tail thwacking. The fins on his tail made an extra clapping noise when it stuck the muddy ground.

Toothless stopped a little behind Snack and sat on his haunches. His head lift to grab a good scent, than lowered. The better option? Over of course! With a toothy smile, Toothless extended his wings and with a few beats rocketed himself over the bush to meet with what might be on the other side.

The approach of the two larger otters hadn't gone unheard by the horde of mini otters. They had all been poised to flee and seeing Toothless soar over the bushes had sent them running in all directions. Well, almost all of them.

One mini, a dark gray and green mini hadn't so much as batted an eye at the arrival of the large demonic. Nor did Snack's subsequent arrival--barreling around the bush only to pause at his friend's side. She, it seemed, didn't notice them at all.

Snack wasn't sure what to make of it. He could scare her or he could threaten to eat her or--he took a step forward, opening his mouth to do something. He wasn't quite sure what yet.

"Oh my!" the mini exclaimed as she finally took notice of the two. "You've grown so big!" she stated, as if she had met them before. She gave a giggle, standing up and slinking over to them. With a wide smile, she began to weave herself around them, before plopping down between Toothless's front paws and tilting her head back to look at him.

Snack blinked. He was sure he hadn't met her before. He thought. He scrunched his face up, reaching a paw up to scratch absently at the top of his head. If he had--well he couldn't eat her then. That would be bad taste.

Toothless watched in an open-mouthed smiled as all the tiny otters scattered. He had never seen such a thing! They were so small, kind of cute. His tail flopped about behind him, that is, until he noticed one had not run away.

Toothless blinked and lowered his head so he could get a better look at the otter.

When Snack barreled around the corner he watched his friend, whom also seemed confused. He tilted his head and gestured toward the Mini. Of course Snack would know what to do! He was the most brilliant, and only, otter Toothless knew.

"Mer?..."

"No know you," Snack finally decided. That would solve all the confusion. She would realize she was wrong and run off or beg them not to eat her. He gave a self-satisfied nod. Except, this was not any mini.

She giggled, twisting around before skittering towards the feral. She sat up on her hind legs, reaching her front paws to lean against his leg. "You've just met me!" she grinned before falling back to sit down. She opened her mouth to give them her name, until she noticed Toothless's wings. She stared in wander, wondering how she could get up so high to touch them.

Well that left him a little bemused. He had met her, sort of. Which meant no eating her. "No eat her," he informed Toothless with a mild pout. Not eating made everything so complicated. If she wasn't dinner, what was she anyway?

Toothless sighed than looked back at the mini. Not something to eat. Why was it so small? A small creature that seemed to be amused bu his wings.

He looked from his wings to the small one. Perhaps because of her small eyes, she could not see them! Slowly he lowered his right wing so that she could get a better look. Perhaps even touch it if she could stand on her hind legs.

"meeerrrrrrrr?" He asked Snack in a low hum. What were they to do with it now?

Willow darted forward as Toothless lowered his right wing and stood up once again on her hind legs. She ran her paws over it in wonder. She wondered if he was a bird, except none of the ones she had seen had four legs. Or small unbeakish mouths.

She dropped back down to the ground perplexed. The thought quickly fluttered away as she turned to sit between the two otters. "I'm--" she paused, blinking as she tilted her head, "Pillow Casey!" she exclaimed finally. She didn't think that sounded quite right but she turned expectantly from one to the other waiting for names.

"Snack," the feral pointed at himself and then to Toothless, "Toofless," as he introduced them. Then he seemed to freeze. Did that make them friends? His glowing eyes went large and he tried to make a menacing face. "We not friends!" Then he turned to Toothless, "Right?"

Toothless watched carefully as the mini examined his wings. It didn't seem like a threat, but there was always a chance. Maybe. Today had been proven full of strange things.

His wing returned to his side as soon as the mini seemed done with it.

"pfff..." He huffed than nodded. Of course he didn't really understand, but his friend seemed determined enough.

With Toothless's agreement, Snack stood up and decided to go in search of something else. The mini had waltzed over to a patch of daisies that she was picking and setting into two piles. He gave a subtle jerking motion of his head to signal to Toothless. Best to get away while they could.

He lifted his paw to move--as Willow handed a bouquet to him. "I give you flowers. Now we can be friends!" she grinned.

Snack looked to Toothless for help. Out of all the minis in the reserve they had to stumble upon the--whatever she was...

Toothless nodded at the suggestion to move on. His wings stretched than lifted in time for the mini to offer the nice bouquet of flowers. He sniffed at them than grinned. They smelled great!

But his excitement faded when he saw the look on Snack's face. It must have been a bad gesture.

"murrr..." He hummed than stretched his neck toward the flowers.

His mouth opened slowly than he quickly chomped off the flower's heads. Not the most tasteful meal, in fact Toothless spit the flowers back out promptly. Not bothering to turn his head away from the mini.

The flowers fell down into the mini's face in a sticky mess. She crossed her eyes to look at them then back to Toothless. "Are you a veggie eater then?" Willow asked, looking at the bundle of stems she now held. She didn't think flowers tasted very good. Then again he had spit them out so maybe he didn't either. She gave a shrug and let the stems fall to the ground.

Snack for his part gave an amused smile at Toothless, before sighing in defeat. Apparently the little mini wasn't going to give up. And Toothless kind of seemed to like her. "Fine, you friend--sort of," he gave in with a long suffering sigh.
