I cosplay L, so I would feel as offended as you would if your character was cast poorly. Justin Beiber is too young to be L, but if they so much as cast a Jonas Brother, I'm starting a riot!

I feel SO STRONGLY about not casting Zac "F you"ron xd as Light Yagami that I signed the petition with "Kathrine", my entire first name, rather than Kate, Katey or Kerry. DEATH TO SH*TTY AMERICAN REMAKES!!! stressed stressed stressed stressed stressed (pardon my french)

I got word from a friend who is an IMDb pro subscriber.
(IMDb Pro Subscribers get information on unreleased movies early)
Supposedly, Light Yagami is no longer going by the last name Yagami... He is now Light Reynolds.
And as for Misa Amane... she is now known as Misa Parker.
I for one am appalled at the fact that they are changing Death Note in an entirety. The Storyline probably won't even be the same;
Knowing Americans, L will end up being the psycho killer, and he covered it up somehow.
And Light "Reynolds" will save the day.

Although, it is their movie, they can do whatever they please to it. Even if that means ruining the "Death Note" name.

No longer just a rumor. Not fact yet, but no longer just a rumor.
There is more solid evidence in this video, that much is certain.

Also, me being a hard-core Death Note fan (seriously... you should see my house...)
I can honestly say that I don't think the American remake will be too horribly bad. Note; I didn't say it would be good in the least bit, however, Zac Effron is an actor, and if your big break is in a musical, you take it. That doesn't mean that is the only type of role you can act.

Also, Zac Effron said in the video above "I love Death Note", so I am pretty sure he will do his best to do the role of Kira justice.
Whatever is changed in the movie is not in any way his fault, nor would Miley Cyrus be at fault, I say we let this topic die and just hope for the best in this movie. That is all we can do anyway.

Main point, let it be, the remake will either be good, or it won't.
It doesn't mean the "Death Note" series we love is changed, it will always be the great series we know and love.

And in case you are wondering, yes, I am wearing my positive pants today.

Rumor has it that Vertigo Entertainment is planning on making an American live-action Death Note movie! starring Zac Effron as Light Yagami... stressed
As Mello, I firmly detest this! Not only do I lose to Light Yagami, but I'd have to lose to Disney's pretty-boy too! This is not an option!
As an actress, I oppose this! Zac Effron may be a perfect little golden boy like Light to Hollywood, but he would not be able to pull off the entire Kira persona!
please state your opinion and say who you believe shoul have the role! Also, for Pete's sake, don't reccomend any actors from Twilight! That would be a crime against the memories of all Death Note characters who died during this case!

Zac Efron is a surprisingly good actor once you take away all the High School Musical and Disney. If he was cast, he might surprise us and actually be quite good.
However, doubt it's something he will realistically do because Death Note people aren't generally in his fan base. Plus there are plenty of people more suited to the role.
