"You like the name 'Acwellan', don't you, honey?" It was all the kit could do to nod, looking up at his mother. "It means to destroy or to kill. I want you to live up to your name, okay?" The tri-colored kit grinned, nodding up at her. Oh yes, he'd live up to his name. Violence was all this clan knew, after all.
In Ash's clan, upon every male's leaving, he is bound by a certain code. One that ensures no female would ever be the target of theirs, or anyone else's, hostility. That, and it ensures they obey any prospective mate's (which means every female's) command or request. Failure to heed this code would result in very, very, very terrible things [mainly the Gods cursing his kits to die].

▌Story::

Especially is you are on of the few hundred gifted with some sort of special talent [I.e. empathy, shape shifting, telepathy, magic wielding, or, even one of the Fallen]. That was where Uwea Starsinger, a Fallen Angel, met Haverett Novasm, a strong empath. The two quickly took to one another, and began courting. Months passed, and Uwea wasn’t really sure she should be gallivanting around with Rett. His continuous infatuation with her [and her with him] ultimately decided their fate. She accepted his final courtship proposal, and they were married.
Uwea, being one of the Fallen, believed she couldn’t be happier. That is, until two years into their marriage, she discovered she was with child. She and Rett went straight to their village’s healer, a pretty young female with a sharp, intent gaze and a powerful set of gifts. She was a very strong empath, stronger than Rett even, along with her powerful healing magic. Uwea pleaded with her husband to let the female check their baby for even the slightest hint of their abilities, for she wanted their child to have some sort of ability to make his life easier. Rett finally agreed, and the unborn child was probed.
They found out the baby was male, and Angelic. But, what made Uwea truly smile was when the female proclaimed he was a powerful empath.
When the baby was born, Rett and Uwea named him Jas’cera. In his mother’s native tongue, it meant “bright beacon”, which was what he symbolized for them. Jas was a very, unique looking child. He had short black hair with bright purple shot through it, bright emerald eyes, and swirling pastel markings that curved over his shoulders, back, neck, cheeks, and the backs of his legs, enhancing his dark complexion. His wings were stark white at the tops, slowly darkening to a light purple, his pastel markings curling over the feathers as well.
Jas grew into his powers, perfecting them with every chance he got with help from his father, learning how to fly with the balance and speed and grace his mother exuded. When he turned four, his father got sick. The strong bond between them made Jas feel every pin p***k of pain, every wave of nausea, and every throe of madness as the sickness deteriorated his father’s mind.
There were many, many times Uwea would come home from getting more medicine for her husband and Jas would be sitting in the middle of the living room, arms wrapped around himself as he shrieked in pain, his father’s own screams amplifying his. For seven months, Rett and Jas shared a pain so excruciating they could hardly move; their empathic senses catching and throwing every single moment back to them both.
After those horrifying seven months, Rett slipped away in his sleep. Uwea’s cries of choked despair awoke their son. He came waddling into their room, tears tracking down his rainbow marked cheeks as his mother sorrow drove him. He slowly trudged over, reaching out to touch his father’s beloved face. The moment his fingers touched his strong jaw, a howl of pain and rage ripped from his already ravaged throat, filling the night with eerie sound of a grief-stricken son trying to call his father back from the dead. He howled and screamed until he couldn’t see straight, and then he crumpled to the floor, weeping his beautiful eyes out.
In the dead of night, Uwea had Rett’s body taken away. Then she, knowing her despair would plunge her son into a madness that he couldn’t be drawn back from thanks to his empathy, plunged a blade into her heart.
Jas’s eyes flew open, pain erupting in his chest before a terrible numbness fell over him. His parents were dead, and he was alone….

Fourteen years later, Jas had grown into a powerful position in the village. He was everyone’s hero for his bravery the night his parents had died, though he bore the weight of it like nothing else. He sculpted himself to be a very happy, hyper, and genuine young man. He lived for other people’s laughter and smiles.
Controversy in the Council of Elders, most of them former friends of his parents, shot up. They believed that because he was the only child to survive such severe heartbreak, he could fall into what was known as the Gray Place. The Gray Place was a form of emotional madness some empathy were thrown into when hit with overwhelming emotions. So, with a fear that he could rip every single on of them apart if the whim struck him, they exiled him.
He wandered another year before settling in a small town for rest. He slept soundly that night, but when he awoke, he was in front of a shop of some kind… and he was a fox.
