Azzo nodded and took his hand a pushed on Merlin's rear. Watching as the pup sat down again and tossing him another treat and he rubbed Merlin.
Azzo's eyes wondered over the food and tilted his head curiously at the layout. "Hmm..... so what's for lunch?" He asked.

"Sandwiches and chips mostly, some juice and sodas too for a drink," he replied as he move back to the blanket, Melody all ready sitting down. "I made several sandwiches, egg salad, tuna salad and PB&J, if that's all right. If not there's a bento box for you here too."
Melody squirmed slightly at the mention of the bentos, cheeks pink. "I made the bento boxes... I hope you like what's in them?"

Azzo settled down looking at the food. He pondered and tilted his head at the bento box. Not noticing the pink tint to Melody's cheeks. He picked up the box curiously looking at it, wondering how to get it to open.
"Hm..." he pondered, "The sandwiches sounds good too," He added suddenly. "Sorry I've just never seen one of these." He admitted.

There was a chuckle, Alex grabbing a sandwich for himself. "It's fine, we weren't sure if you'd like them or not."
Giving a nod, Melody picked up her bento and opened it to eat from it. Inside was one of her favourite Vietnamese dishes, her father having helped teach her to make it. "If nothing else, you can take it home and eat it another day."

Azzo watched Melody open hers and looked at the box again, before trying to open it. He was actually more curious about what was in the box than the sandwiches. He could see what the sandwiches were.
When he got it open, after a few attempts trying to mimic mel the best he could. While not wanting to either spill the food or break the box (he probably worried too much...). He lofted his brow, "Soo.. what do you eat them with?" He asked looking at the food inside. Before hoping there might be a fork involved and not chopsticks like he'd seen at some of the Chinese and Japanese restaurants that had out door areas to eat at.

Melody smiled and held out a fork to him, pulling it out of the basket they had carried. "Chopsticks if you can use them, forks if you can't. My family uses chopsticks but we figured you might not know how, so I made sure to bring a fork instead."

Azzo took the fork, "That's one of those things I still need to learn actually." Azzo said which an embarrassed chuckle. "I'll um... stick with the fork for now." He said eying the dish.
"So... what's in it?" He asked as he carefully picked up a piece of the food.

Inside it was fried rice with egg, and what looked to be grilled salmon. Fresh vegetables added color and there was a small section filled with soy sauce to be used if Azzo felt like it. All in all, it looked pretty good. At least to Melody who happily began eating from her box.
Alex could only chuckle as he watched them, keeping an eye on the puppy for signs of thirst or just overall boredom. "I don't know why your mother is so worried about you cooking. You did fine."
"It's not that mother is worried about me cooking, but rather she feels I shouldn't have to so why bother learning. I will have maids for that." She rolled her eyes at the end of that, eating a piece of broccoli.
"Ah, that's right. Your mother and her quest for you beautiful ignorance." He laughed as she snorted.

Azzo started on the rice and salmon. Swallowing the bite he had and going for another. "Eh, Grams'd probably have a thing or two to say about that."
He paused in between bites. "She tried to teach me, though the only thing I managed to do was to burn most of what she wanted me to cook. Cookies aren't bad that way but charred beans taste a little funny."

"Mother wants me to not have to do much for myself because she had to and she wants to give me a life she wanted." Melody made a face, taking another bite of her food before chasing it down with juice. "It's a nice idea, just not one I really want."
"Ah, but your mother is persistent! One of the many things I love her for. And you can bet that once you start dating she'll be very critical of your boyfriend."
"Yea, especially if he's not from money." A roll of her eyes. "I love mom, but this is my life and if I don't want to marry into money then I don't want to."
"I'd say tell that to her and not me, but we all know she'd just ignore that." A chuckle. "Don't worry, she'll get used to the idea eventually."

Azzo continued to eat the food, curiously trying the fish in soy sauce. The next bit of conversation he was trying to stay out of. It wasn't really for him to butt into, so he started into the veggies along with the rest of the meal.
He glanced over to Merlin who was laying in some of the tree's shade looking like he could take a nap. Which was some what of a good thing, at least he didn't have to worry about Merlin breaking his neck to catch a squirrel or something dumb like that.

"Oh!" Melody called suddenly, interrupting the conversation between her and her father. "Azzo, how are you doing in school? You're due to graduate soon, right?"

He looked a bit startled. "I think... they're going to hold me and the rest of us back." He said with a frown.
He shrugged, "Guess it's something they feel they need to do..."

"Eh? Really?" Her eyes went wide, surprise etched into her face. "There's no way you can play catch-up during school along side normal classes?"
Suddenly she felt a bit glad about not being as old as he was, even if she was a year younger at most. She still had plenty of time to continue on learning what she missed so she could graduate with the rest of her class. Azzo and Ignacio though...
"That totally sucks, I hope that's not true. I think Yvette's supposed to be graduating this year too."

Azzo Nodded softly, "Yeah it's Meadowview Mel. They're only going to do as much as they want to." He shrugged, "They didn't tell us when we went back either..."
He paused, "Yvette's suppose to graduate this year too?" He asked curiously.
