"Yes, your dad does love you very much." A hand shot out to wipe away at a tear, her face soft. "He loves you so much, which is why he's so protective over you. And I know it can be frustrating, especially as a growing young woman, but he does it because he cares."
"I'll talk to my parents about going a head and planning for a Halloween sleepover, my mom will be thrilled I'm sure." A wry smile at that. "And once I've got the go ahead from my parents I'll talk to your dad and even see about having my dad talk to him too, just so he knows."
Ducking her head down, Melody's brown eyes glanced up to her friend with a softer smile. "That sound good, Yvette?"

She nodded her head. No, no words, she just nodded as her friend wiped away the water from her eyes. Why was water able to fall from her eyes and not let her even know about it until after the fact? It was so unfair.
Not really wanting to say anything, since it would most likely make things worse, the girl reached out and grabbed herself one of the egg salad sandwich slices. She then proceeded to nibble for a bit, allowing her friend to talk about the planning process for the potential sleep over. Her friend easily finished sharing the plans for Halloween before Yvette even finished a quarter of the sandwich. With her mouth full of egg salad goo, she simply just offered another nod.

The blonde seemed not to mind at all, smiling and starting on a few pretzels. Yea, that could likely go over very well. She all ready had a list of girls in mind, hoping they could all go.
Surely she could get away with one night of not patrolling. ********* shouldn't be too upset, right? Not that ********* was her guardian, but really the only one she knew of.
Suddenly she gave a really out of no where giggle, imagining her inviting the cat along (despite knowing she wouldn't be able to talk) and managing to dress her up like the rest of them. Another giggle and she waved her hand dismissively at no one, positively beside herself with that idea.
How to ask the cat though?

Yvette's sandwich slice should have been grateful for the girl's slow manner of eating. It prolonged its life by a lot, since she was now only halfway done with her sandwich. The random giggle stirred up a million questions in Yvette's mind.
The main thing to pop out through the questions was Why is she giggling at me? Self doubt was something that just never seemed to go away with this girl. Her nose twitched slightly.
...Melody wouldn't do that... she's my friend...
As if to reassure herself, she simply uttered once she finished her current mouthful "...I am glad you are such a good friend..."

"I try to be." Leaning over, the blonde kissed her friend's cheek as if to reassure her about something. Though as to what Melody had no clue. "I will always try to be the best friend I can be for you." For any of her friends really.
"But, to stray from the topic, I hope my giggling didn't bother you. I just had a funny image come to mind was all." Hopefully she wouldn't have to try and explain it, cause she wasn't sure she would know how to.

Her friend's gentle gesture really shouldn't have flared up such a reaction in Yvette. It really shouldn't have. Yet, the moment lips touched the shy girl's cheeks, they began to burn of an intense red color. Mommy had kissed her cheeks before, and Grammy had too. Yet, no other girls had ever done such a thing.

Maybe she was thinking about it too much? She had heard that some people kissed their friends on the cheeks. Sometimes girls would kiss boys on the cheeks if they were friends. Sometimes boys would kiss girls on the cheeks if they were friends.

Melody must have meant it like a friend. Why could Yvette now hear the sound of her own heart pounding fast in her head? Melody was a friend! She just said she was. She'd be the best friend she could be for Yvette! There was nothing wrong with that...

Since her mind had been debating back and forth with itself, the girl unfortunately missed the prompt about the giggles. Yet, now brown eyes were looking at Yvette expectantly, as if she should be answering a question.

With a last ditch effort, the girl stuffed the remaining portion of her sandwich in her mouth. With her cheeks all puffed out, all she could manage was the guilty look of a puppy dog who knew it had done something wrong.

Melody saw nothing wrong with the action, used to kissing her family's cheek as well as Ignacio's and Raina's. It had been instinctual to do so, honestly, and so the heavy blush that form kind of threw her off guard a bit. Though she didn't have too much time to dwell on it as Yvette stuffed her mouthful.
Once again her shy friend's action had been too cute for her own good and Melody was giggling to herself. She couldn't help just how adorable her friend was, really she couldn't. "Yvette, please don't end up choking on all that food, kay?" Another giggle. "I don't want you to accidentally hurt yourself."
If she was mad or upset in anyway, the Vietnamese girl didn't show it in any way as she grabbed her cup and took a drink. Partially to hide her amusement and partially because she was thirsty. Sitting the cup back down she gave a kind smile.
"I'm sorry if what I did was wrong? I didn't mean to upset you in anyway."

All Melody got was an even guiltier look from the girl with puffy cheeks. It was fortunate that the Vietnamese girl was so good at keeping company without making things overly awkward, since poor Yvette was a dreadfully slow eater. And now that her mouth was completely stuffed, it would take about ten minutes to make the food liquidy enough to swallow.
Feebly, she offered a simple "D-don't worry about it..." Obviously the same trick wouldn't work twice, so the girl simply took up her cup and took a tiny sip of her beverage.
"...I-is there anything else you wanted to do after lunch, Melody?"

She decided to oblige the girl and not worry about it, after all this was Yvette and it would do no good to dwell on matters that may or may not bother her shy friend. Smiling, she gave a small nod, then tilted her head at the question as she reached for a pretzel sticks. So yummy.
"Well, I didn't really have anything planned," she admitted sheepishly. "Mostly just lunch, I didn't know how long you had. Or if there was anything you wanted to do." She really had just been so excited her friend was coming over to visit.

"...w-well..." The girl poked her pointer fingers together. "I do have to get home after this... to work on homework..." Yvette sighed a bit, realizing how silly she sounded. Still feeling a slight tickle of thirst in her throat, she sipped again out of her cup, eyes looking to her friend as she did such.
Carefully, she placed her cup back onto the table before her slim fingers reached for another small sandwich. As if Melody didn't get the point initially, she then clarified before nibbling on her sandwich "I should probably go soon..."

She gave a small nod, not really surprised. It had been part of the reason she didn't plan for much while Yvette was over. The Vietnamese girl, too, reached for another sandwich seconds after her friend did.
"That's fine, I didn't think you'd stay too terribly long because of homework." A bright, cheerful smile. "Besides, I'd rather you do your best to get caught up and on your way to college, then to waste time with me."
She was cheering Yvette on from the sidelines, if the dark haired girl didn't know it. "I'll just take what little time I can with you~"

The girl eventually did manage to finish off her sandwich. And like she had warned before, when she finished, she was ready to go. For a moment, she looked to her friend with big puppy eyes.
"I... uh... I guess I'll see you around..."
She didn't even sound convinced. Yvette had never exactly been all that good at making goodbyes. They always came across as awkward.
"Um... uh... t-tell your Dad it was nice meeting him..."

"Of course you'll see me around," Melody assured, moving to stand so her friend wouldn't have to walk herself to the door. She was sure that was something most people didn't do. "Even if I have to visit you at work."
At the mention of her father, who was still in the dining room working, the blonde nodded and gave another smile. "Of course. I'm sure he enjoyed meeting you as well." She was almost certain of it.

"Um, uh... pl-please don't visit me at work!!" the girl squeaked out. It was perhaps the worst thing someone could surprise her with, just because working at a place that sold undergarments really wasn't an ideal scenario for anyone. At least, that was Yvette's perspective. Maybe a boy who really liked to play with girl underwear would have fun? She didn't know. Boys were sometimes pretty strange.
As she was walked to the door, she offered a small shy "...thank you for having me over..." She offered a small hug that seemed to match her current shyness levels. With that, she trotted out the door, heading back to where she had found the bus stop to begin with.
