Evari was something alright! Heh. But Xai didn't like feeling like she was putting her daughter to shame, she loved Evari dearly just not the way she made some children cry and demanded everything be done her way. Was it selfish of Xai to wish she would grow out of that? Sigh. Both Xai and Tyyne blinked at the mention of a booster seat; one had never heard of a booster seat, the other only knew booster as...not something you sat on. Why would someone make a seat of boosters? That was just dangerous! Especially for children! She looked perplexed to say the least. Tyyne was distracted with Vance hugging her and cooing her name, giggling and patting his hands since she couldn't reach back very well. He was so adorable~!

When they got to the truck Tyyne's eyes widened and her ears drooped a little. That looked scary! They were riding inside that? O-okay...um...alright. She was a little distraught when Vance was suddenly off her back, calming down when she found he was being picked up and not actually falling off her back. Whew! She was so worried he'd fallen off for a second there! She pat Vance's head when he was set down and smiled down at the boy, looking up to see what a 'booster seat' was. Oh...so it was just a strange chair with belts on it. Xai was very relieved by this, happy that the name was just a misleading one. Silly Gaia and its strange names. Tyyne looked at the truck again when she was addressed, looking unsure of how to go about this. "I'm...not sure I can get in..."

"Don't worry, Tyyne. We can help you." Xai told her with a giggle, scooting the timid deer closer to the back door. She helped her balance so she could get her front hooves onto the step into the truck, hoisting the rest of her body up from behind with a mild grunt. She wasn't too heavy, just awkward. Tyyne did her best to be quick about slipping into the truck, needing Xai's help to get onto the seat in such a narrow space and finally folding her legs underneath her body. There! That wasn't so bad. And getting down would be easier, right?

There we go. The girl was safely inside. Donovan picked up Vance and got him settled into his seat, then shut the door. He kept the front passenger door open for Xai and offered a hand to help her up. "After you." He said smoothly with a confident smile. He did love to play the gentlemen, and he did it so often it was natural.

After Xai had been safely let in, he shut the door and made his way around to get into the driver's seat. "Everyone buckled safely? Tynne, if it's too bumpy for you, you can hold onto one of the handles up above the door there. It's a smooth riding truck though, so you should be okay." He said kindly to the girl. Again, being nice to females seemed to come naturally to the man.
"I'm gonna take care of Tynne!" Vance said happily, patting the young girl's back. It was his duty as an experience truck rider!

Donovan took off then, driving carefully and avoiding roads he knew to be rough. The truck was new, though, so very little jolts were felt.
"Okay, Xai. Lemme know where to go."

How nice of Donovan! He was such a gentleman. Perhaps his strange looks were just a quirk, but it was still something worth asking Luis or Switch about. Were all men like this? They weren't so bad if they were! Why, Xai was starting to think maybe she liked Gaian men quite a bit if they were all like Donovan! Once she was sure Tyyne was safe and somewhat comfortable she accepted Donovan's help into the front of the truck, looking around at the dashboard and very, very tempted to press every button and see what each one did. She was reaching out to play with the buttons when Donovan climbed into the truck and asked if everyone was buckled. Huh? Oh...okay. So they had to wear safety belts. Totally reasonable. It was different from what she was used to but Xai did figure her seatbelt out without needing to ask for help. Tyyne smiled at Vance when he proclaimed that he would be the one to take care of her, giggling as she was pat and putting her head against the top of his car seat. She'd just hold onto this instead if it got bumpy...as long as it didn't seem like she'd fall and pull it down with her. Couldn't hurt Vance! "Thank you, Mr. Donovan, Vance." She replied softly, looking out the window as they started to drive. The initial takeoff, though gentle, had startled the girl and made her stiffen for a moment before she managed to calm down and enjoy the ride. It wasn't so bad after all! And the ride was smooth!

Xai helped Donovan with the directions, telling him where to go until they reached her house. Er...that was a house, right? It was bright white, almost startlingly so...it was too clean. It clearly wasn't built there originally, but somehow the other houses around it didn't seem to have been forcibly moved. Curious. Very curious. It was oddly shaped as well. "Oh this is it~!" Xai pat her hand on Donovan's shoulder and pointed at the house, which was really just her ship embedded purposely into the ground, grinning proudly. Hmm...but she didn't have a driveway! He'd just have to park in front of her front yard or something. "Hmm it doesn't look like Evari's home. Oh, I just know you'll love it! I'll give you a tour of the entire place! The kitchen, the living room, my bedroom, Tyyne's room, Evari's room, my lab, the control system..." She didn't realize that one of those rooms would catch his attention better than the others.

Oops.

"I never been here!" Vance proclaimed to Tynne as they passed by scenery that was new to the boy. He pointed at things that caught his interest, and wiggled his feet over the edge of his seat.

Donovan parked outside the house, looking perplexed. That was a house? He wasn't sure what it was, but a house it certainly was not. What, a lab? Control center? Just what was this woman? He gotout of the truck, staring at the 'house. "Woah... some place you got here." He commented, in awe. He knew Xai was a strange woman, but it was becoming more evident that she was otherworldly. Heck, she had a centaur as an adopted daughter. "You know, ever since moving here, I've certainly run into some strange things." He said with a chuckle.
"Daddy!" Vance called, snapping the man out of it. Oh right, the kids needed to be let out.

Donovan came around, figureing Xai had let herself out by now, he opened the passenger side door for Vance and Tynne. He got Vance out first, being the easiest and set him down. "Alright, M'lady. Your turn." He held out a hand to help the girl down, steadying her on her descent.

Strange? Xai blinked and stared at Donovan with a look of genuine surprise, unsure how to feel about being called strange. Was she strange? She certainly knew she wasn't quite like most people around here but...she was learning! And Xai was trying so hard to fit in as best as she could, it was just hard what with all the figures of speech and the different customs and ugh! It was just so hard. When Vance suddenly snapped she jumped and glanced back behind the seat at the small boy, checking both him and Tyyne to make sure they fared alright during the trip. Tyyne was fine, not very shaken, and it seemed having Vance beside her really helped. She had been a bit uncomfortable but the knowledge that it wouldn't take very long to get home and out of this truck had helped, as well as Vance's presence. Xai climbed out of the truck after making sure the children were alright, awkwardly sliding from her seat and onto her feet instead of climbing out easily like Donovan had. It was a lot higher than she was used to.

Tyyne waited for the two adults to get situated, watching Vance get taken out and set on the ground. Hm...how was she going to do this without ruining the seats or hurting anyone including herself? She carefully, very carefully, stood up on the back seat, taking Donovan's hand as it was offered to her. Okay...she had a feeling she knew how to do this. She sighed nervously and bit her lip, taking a deep breath and finally pushing off the edge of the seat to leap gracefully out of the truck. She made sure she wouldn't land too close to Vance, letting go of Donovan's hand once she had decided what she was going to do, landing on her feet and taking a few steps forward due to her momentum. Ahh...there. Okay. Yay! She did it! Xai giggled and clapped. "What a good girl!" She cheered. She bent down to scoop up Vance in her arms, balancing him on her hip before Donovan had a chance to pick him up. She wanted to hold him now! He was so adorable! She never got to hold Evari like this without her fussing over it.

"Alright. Shall we?" Xai held Vance, leading the way with Tyyne to the house. "Dear, could you..?" Tyyne nodded, letting Xai put Vance on her back. Xai then rolled up the sleeve of her dress and fished a key out of...somewhere. Apparently she had a pocket hidden somewhere on her person, unlocking the door and stepping inside. The lights lit up instantly at the detection of a living being inside the house, humming happily. She had guests! This didn't happen often! Or...ever! There didn't seem to be any sign of Evari.

"Want to go to my room, Vance? I have toys and stuff in there." Tyyne offered the boy on her back with a bright smile. Let the adults do whatever they wanted. They were going to do boring adult stuff.

Donovan was pretty impressed with Tynne and her graceful leap out of the truck. Not everyday you saw something like that. Well, maybe Xai did.
Vance smiled wide when Xai picked him up, giggling happily and staring up at the nice lady. Boy, he sure liked these people! They were just so nice! He clung onto her while she balanced him on her hip until he was transferred over to Tynne's back again. "Yay~" He cheered, hugging onto Tynne.

Donovan made an impressed whistle as they entered the 'house'. "This is some fancy place you got here..." He said aloud. He was starting to understand why it might have a control center. "Mind giving me the grand tour?"

"Kay!" Vance agreed happily. "Yay we can play!"

Tyyne giggled and held Vance's hands as he hugged her, already abandoning the adults to take him to her room. Hopefully he'd like her toys, they were mostly dolls and stuffed animals right now...did boys like that kind of thing? Quint didn't seem like he would, and...and that other boy from the beach...eugh. The very thought of him made her shudder as she tried to forget about him, letting go of Vance to open the door and press a button on the wall that made the lights in the room a bit brighter to accommodate to her tastes. She liked bright, she liked mimicking the sunlight outside! "O-or we can watch a movie! I have movies too. But I also have toys...if we need more I think I can borrow from Evari as long as I put them back before she notices. What would you like to do, Vance?"

Xai was beaming proudly as Donovan praised her home, clasping her hands behind her and giving an eager not of her head. Of course! She was more than happy to give him a tour of her home! She giggled and looked around, deciding where to start. Hmmm... "Weeeeeell...this is the living room! The monito--er...television is there," She pointed at a large screen in the wall. "Theee kitchen is this way." Since it was right here Xai figured she would lead him right to it, gesturing for Donovan to follow her. As they walked lights lit up before them and dimmed until they were almost off. They were still on, but not as brightly as the lights in the kitchen itself. It...was an interesting kitchen, filled with strange devices that didn't look like normal kitchen appliances, and everything was written in text that was strange to everyone but Xai. It was all Ursontaean, of course! "I'm the only one who really does any of the housework here. My girls wouldn't know how to use any of this stuff without me, I bet!" Xai couldn't help but laugh, turning her gaze to Donovan and watching for his reaction to the kitchen expectantly.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:13 pm

Vance's eyes lit up at all the fancy gizmos and devices that made the lights turn on. Everything in this house reminded him of those boring space shows his dad watched. It was a lot cooler in real life!
Vance smiled eagerly as he looked around Tynne's bedroom, and at all the toys she had. "Bear!" He called out, wiggling on her back. He liked these stuffed animals. Heck, he'd probably even play with the dolls if coerced. "I like these toys." He said happily, still eying the fluffy toy bear he'd seen first. He didn't have any stuffed animals at home. He wondered why that was? It was all toy trucks and gizmos that made noises and clicks.

Donovan followed Xai around, his jaw practically dragging on the floor. "This is all amazing." He said honestly. All thoughts of 'getting with' this chic had been forgotten in the name of science! His mind was itching to know what everything did, and how it did it and how it was powered.
"No kidding, eh? You certainly are the head of the household." He said in regards to Xai doing all the housework. By the looks of it all, he wondered if little robots came out of the walls to kill dust before it fell.

The young man wandered around the kitchen looking over all the strange tools and texts. "What language is this? What's this for? How does this work?" He seemed to be asking Xai, but so many questions kept popping into his head too quick to have them answered.
He wanted to know everything about this place!

At Vance's sudden crying over a bear Tyyne jumped, but not enough to knock him off her back and possibly hurt himself. She smiled after taking a second to calm her racing heart and wandered over to her bed first, standing beside it. "I'm glad. Hop off then and I'll go get some of them to bring over here." She said with a smile, waiting until Vance was safely on the bed again before she walked away to gather up the stuffed animals in her arms, the bear was obviously included, and then returned to Vance to dump them on the bed beside him. She was smiling even more now, clearly happy to have someone she could play with who would actually play nice! She hadn't met anyone who was really...nice. Aside from Deimos everyone else was just so scary and mean! Her own sister included! She wished that nice girl with the rainbow hair from that nightmare she'd had really existed, it'd be nice to have a nice girl to play with and be friends with. Sigh. Wishful thinking, perhaps. She looked at the bear, then at Vance, and then at the bear again...and then gently grabbed the bear. Tyyne then bent her knees and sat on the floor, awkwardly lowering herself as best as she could but not doing a very good job of hiding herself beside the bed as she held up the bear like a puppet, flailing his arms with her thumb and index finger.

"Hi, Vance~! I'm Mr. Bear! Do you want to play with me?" Tyyne asked in her best imitation of a cute bear voice, which really was just her forcing her voice to be a little gruff and a lower pitch. Not quite bear-like but...she was trying?

Xai couldn't help but feel more and more proud of her home the more impressed Donovan seemed to get about it, standing aside with her hands behind her back and a warm smile on her face to let the man wander around the kitchen and the living room to look at everything. There were no little robots that came out and killed dust, though Xai was very serious about dust and dirt in the house. Too much delicate equipment. Can't let anything hurt her livelihood. It would take ages to get replacements of anything she couldn't make herself. Ahhh, there they were. The barrage of questions. "Ursontaean. That particular device is for washing dishes...annnd that one is just a simple knife." Sure it was, Xai. Sure it was. Xai walked over to the counter and picked up what looked like a simple little stick with a hole in the end, pressing a button on the side and holding it up as what appeared to just be a simple blue beam of light appeared. "See? Just a knife. Is there anything else you would like to see in here?"

Vance crawled off of Tynne and onto the bed. He bounced in place and giggled. What a soft bed! The boy watched eagerly as Tynne collected toys from the room. The bear. Get the bear. Don't forget the bear! He giggled when she picked up the favored plush toy and watched as she laid them out.

Vance cocked his head when Tynne paused and looked from him to the bear and back.
Once Tynne took the bear, disappeared and spoke for it, Vance gazed in awe. His hand balled into fists by his chest, wiggling his legs. "Uh huh!" The boy spoke with excitement, his red eyes practically sparkling. The bear talked!! Tynne only touched it and it talked...

Tynne.. was MAGIC!

Donovan wasn't sure how to respond or take in some of this information. What was Ursontaean? How did that wash dishes?

...and how was that a simple knife?

"Amazing! How does this work? How was it made? What's it made of?" He asked in awe. "I'd love to try and recreate something like this. If you don't mind, could I borrow one if you have a spare? I'd like to research it." Just think of the possibilities! Donovan's mind was already coming up with ways to work this kind of technology into his everyday life, into better cars and repairs, as well as thinking of possible inventions he could create.

Tyyne was very happy Vance was so impressed by her little puppet act, giggling softly and pressing her fingers to her lips. He was so adorable! Mr. Donovan was very lucky to have a son like Vance! She wished he was her brother! Having Vance as her brother would be so much more fun than Evari as her sister...oh...but that wasn't fair, was it. Evari just wasn't used to the idea of a sister. She needed time to adjust, and it'd happened so suddenly...she really felt bad now for thinking thoughts like that. But now was not the time to be thinking like that! She was playing with Vance! And he was thoroughly entertained with her impression of Mr. Bear, apparently. Maybe she would let him keep Mr. Bear since he seemed to like him so much! That would make Vance happy, right? Not that he wasn't already! "Can I have a hug first before we decide what to play, Vance?" She asked in her Mr. Bear voice, grinning from her hiding spot beside the bed.

Xai didn't seem to catch on that Donovan was amazed by her 'simple knife'. When asked how it worked she smiled, more than happy to explain to him the basics. She was worried if she got too in-depth about it he wouldn't understand her, both showing him how it worked by just...cutting a slice of bread in half and explaining the mechanics of it. See? Just a simple knife. It cut stuff, and it had a power core that charged the blade and kept it sharp. What more was there to it? "Sure, you can have one. You can keep it if you like." Xai turned the knife off and opened a drawer to get another one, hanging it to him with a warm smile. "Next room? ...Oh! You're...oh! I'm sorry! You're my guest! Would you like something to drink? I'm sorry, I've never had guests before!" She gasped, putting a hand to her lips. She felt so bad now! She'd messed up! Crap!

Vance nodded and smiled widely at the request, lunging forward and wrapping the teddy bear in a big hug. He giggled happily into the plush's 'fur', nuzzling the bear. He didn't have any soft fuzzy teddy bears at home. "I love Mr. Bear!" He squealed happily. Mr. Bear was definitely the best plushie in the whole wide world, according to Vance. Out of all the toys there, Mr. Bear was somehow special. And he talked.
"I love Tyne and Mr. Bear~" He sang happily, wiggling his feet.

Donovan listened intently to Xai's explanation. Most of what she had said seemed rather alien to him, but his mechanic's mind was able to comprehend the gist of it. Donovan was ecstatic to be able to keep the knife, and received it with a grin. "Thanks."
He smirked a bit at her sudden panic, shaking his head. "No, it's fine. I'd like to see the rest of the house. Then maybe drinks." He said smoothly, trying to calm the woman down a bit. If the kitchen was this impressive, he could only imagine what the so called 'control room' was. He slid the knife into his tool belt and awaited more of the tour.

She let Vance take Mr. Bear and hug him, giggling and lifting her head to watch him hug and nuzzle and snuggle the bear. Wow, he really loved Mr. Bear! Tyyne giggled, very pleased to hear and see how much this boy adored her toy. Hmm...she had a lot of toys...she wouldn't mind being rid of just one. Not that she wanted to get rid of it but--wh-what? Tyyne blinked, turning wide blue eyes from her toys to Vance who was singing about loving Mr. Bear...and her? R-really? She blushed, unsure of how to respond other than with a huge smile and climbing awkwardly onto the bed to sit beside Vance. He loved her and Mr. Bear! Yay! "Would you like to keep Mr. Bear, Vance? He seems to really like you too! And you said you loved him~!" And she'd hate to separate him from the bear he loved so much! Would he like to keep Mr. Bear? It was up to him!

"He'll keep you safe! And you can bring him with you everywhere you go! Just promise you'll take very good care of him~." She trusted Vance wouldn't be reckless with Mr. Bear, he was a good boy and very sweet! And one wouldn't hurt something they loved!

Well, if Donovan didn't want a drink yet...that...was his choice, right? She couldn't very well force him. Xai nodded and smiled, her hand dropping back down as she looked around and hummed thoughtfully. Where next? Oh! If he thought her kitchen was incredible he'd definitely enjoy the control center! "This way!" Xai chirped excitedly and grabbed Donovan's hand to drag him along out of the kitchen with her, she stopped just short of the hallway that led down to the bedrooms and leaned over to press her other hand against the wall. A part of the wall beside her hand slid open and she let go of Donovan for just a moment so she could press a few strange...er...those were numbers, right? After a bit of chatting in an alien language, most likely Ursontaean, Xai finally turned back to Donovan and put her hands gently on his shoulders to pull him back a bit. It was a precautionary measure because the floor suddenly shifted and opened to reveal a set of stairs, she turned to Donovan with a proud smile. "It's just down here!" She went down the stairs first, the lights in the living room dimming and the ones along the stairs brightening as she walked. The bottom couldn't be seen just yet..it was too dark!
PostPosted: Mon Jun 28, 2010 5:08 pm

Vance watched Tynne as she made her way onto the bed. He wondered for a long while how it must be to be a deer person. It looked hard. She couldn't sit like usual anywhere. Was it hard? Was it fun?

He snapped out of it momentarily when he heard her offer. His mouth gaped open and his eyes grew wide in awe, squeezing the bear tighter. "I..I can keep him?!" No way! Vance smiled happily, kicking his feet in an excited manner. "I take REALLY good care of Mr. Bear! I give him my other bed!" He had two, after all. Donovan had gotten the set on sale, and just decided to keep it as is. Never know when Vance might have a friend over. Little did he know that a teddy bear might have taken residence there.
Hm, then again, Mr. Bear might get lonely in a bed all alone. "He can sleep with me so he won't be lonely until he's ready for a big bed." He deiced out loud, swaying side to side.

"Tynne? How'd you get those?" Vance asked the deer girl, pointing at her legs. "Is it fun?"

Donovan smirked as the woman got excited, allowing her to take his hand. He let himself be taken to wherever they were headed through the house. He watched the dimming lights curiously, and watched as other ones got brighter. Such a high tech house for a woman living with her kids.

He pulled back a bit at her gentle urge. This woman was nothing like he'd ever met, and a bit of a pleasant chill ran down his back at her touch. He'd never cared much to get to know a woman past what would get him into their pants. This woman, he just wanted to know how her head worked. She had a strange halo, strange markings. What was she? An alien?
He watched the strange door open, his mouth opening slightly in awe. What could possibly be down there.

He followed her down the steps, peering down at the stairs that seemed endless to him, as he anticipated what he might see. His heart pounded, an anxious smile on his lips. What would he see here?

Tyyne was very pleased by how happy Vance was to be keeping Mr. Bear, giggling and nodding. "Of course you can keep him!" And then he mentioned giving Mr. Bear his other bed...wow, he had two beds? Tyyne blinked and looked very impressed by this, looking at Mr. Bear and then at Vance again with a smile. Awww, he was so sweet to let Mr. Bear share his bed until he was ready for his own! Haha! So cuuuute. "I'm very happy to hear Mr. Bear is going to a good home~." She chirped, smiling brightly. Very happy indeed. It just wouldn't do to be giving someone a gift who wouldn't be mistreating a beloved toy. Someone who seemed to truly appreciate this bear.

Get those? Get what? Tyyne blinked and looked down at her legs when he pointed at them, patting them and shrugging when asked if they were fun. "I was born with them...um...sometimes? I can run fast, and I'm very quiet when I walk because of them, and I can jump a lot...but it makes sitting on furniture very hard. My momma is going to take out this bed soon and set up something easier and more comfortable for me to sleep on." It was very hard to climb on things like this bed, the couch, Mr. Donovan's car...and quite uncomfortable for her to sit on them. But she'd manage! It just took a bit of getting used to.

"What about your sliming? Is that fun?" Tyyne asked with a gentle smile, tilting her head and looking down at Vance's hands. Would he be okay to play with toys with slimy hands? Oh dear. She didn't regret giving him Mr. Bear, never would she regret it, but she worried for his toys if he got them all slimy.

"Down here is the control center. It is where the main power of the home comes from, and where I can make adjustments and system checks. Things like that. It is...the heart of the ship--er...house." Xai blushed and glanced up at Donovan as she made her mistake, standing at the bottom of the steps and turning back to a large door that was in front of her. This time a panel opened up in the wall, a larger one. She pressed her hand against a clear pad and hummed for a moment. There were strange characters on the wall that she was reading, and as she read them the ring around her head began to spin quickly like a disc in a computer, and if Donovan listened closely enough there was the softest little 'wrrrrrrrrrh' sound. Eventually she grinned and pressed another number, giving a tiny cheer when the door beside her slid open. Yaaay she got the question right! The spinning slowed to a stop and she seemed to pay it no mind, looking up at Donovan again to hold his hand and gently lead him into the room.

It was like something from a movie. Bright white floors, walls and the ceiling was white. Computers everywhere with bright blue lights and Ursontaean characters, giving the typical beeps and sounds of functioning systems. At first the blue lights and lights from various screens were all that could be seen but once Xai and Donovan stepped into the large round room they suddenly turned on all at once. Good thing the rest of the house had been lit in a similar yet less drastic way or it'd hurt their eyes! There was an entire wall of monitors that seemed to show every room of the house at several angles; Tyyne and Vance could be seen in Tyyne's room, and a quick glance at the rest of the monitor told Xai that Evari really wasn't home. Huh...oh well! The lights were too dark in the unoccupied rooms, which was really what told Xai that no one else was home. There were no lights on in those rooms because no one was in them! Xai turned to Donovan and let go of his hand, smiling proudly. "Well! This is the control center~! What do you think?"
