((Yeah, sorry if my posts aren't long enough... If they should be longer just tell me and I'll try to add more detail.))
Zandorn finished his bread and stood up, "Alright, I'm ready shall we be off?" He asked, moving his arm in a sweeping motion towards the door.

Telma jerked her thumb at the door. "You better lead. I don't know where it is. Actually," she mused, "I don't know anything about rifts at all. Care to fill me in on the way?"

Zandorn nodded and started off out the door, "I have had extensive academic schooling in the area and have discovered that the world of rifts is a world full of contridiction and speculation from the scientific point of view." He stated as he walked out into the street, "I think it's this way, but anyways scientists have been confused and bewildered by magic since the rifts opened, but from what tests they have managed to do on these rifts they have discovered that they are literally tears in our space and time, literally portals into other dimensions and times. It is almost like the rifts are giant doorways that forever change where they lead to. Many scientific teams have been sent through to see if they can learn anything about what happens on the other side but every team ever sent has been lost because as they go in the door changes and the way back is lost forever." He said as they neared an intersection, "Left I believe, anyway, the rift in this city is too small for any large creatures to come out of from what I hear, which is the biggest thing these rifts produce is creatures from other dimensions and points in time that happen to wonder through them, obviously the bigger the rift the more creatures can come out. No one creature that comes out of a rift is quite like another one simply because each creature, unless two or three can happen through at the same time, comes from a completely different world. It could be as simple as the world we are living in now but with some small alterations in history, or it could be a completely foreign world with its own rules and peoples." Zandorn stopped as the light to cross a street turned red, "One of the most interesting things is that you can't acually see through this 'doorway' they appear as either cracks in the air or ground and if you look inside it all you see is a deep purple glow emmiting from the crack and a black purple aura around it, most people have never seen a rift because they are usually covered up in some building to protect our world, at least a little bit, from the creatures coming out of them. Any other questions?" Zandorn asked as the light turned green.

[[Like a toad following a fly.]] Telma was absorbing everything he said. "Fascinating," she muttered. "But what use are they to us? When were they discovered? What other tests or theories are they using on these things?" She bit her lip to keep herself from asking more questions. She didn't want to look too eager.

"Well, there are some theories about how one can travel through these rifts, possibly discerning a path that remains constant through shifts. There are also some theories about how someone could possibly slow the shifts, making a window stay open for hours, or even days to allow for exploration. As for how they are useful for all of their dangers as to what these rifts can produce peaceful, possibly even domesticated, creatures often wonder through. Some the size of elephants, thoes are more seen around the bigger rifts, some smaller like carrier pigeons. Many people have domesticated these creatures for farmwork or for stuff that a guard dog would usually do." Zandorn said as they crossed the street, "I think that large dome over there is where the rift is. Anyway, no one really knows when they opened, sometime during the war for the equator, but they were discovered in around 5032 ((the current date is July 15 5045, where the civil war was in 2025)) when a team was sent to find an anomily on the planitary radar and they stumbled upon it." Zandorn started heading toward the large dome, "anything else you want to know?"

Telma was desperate to know more. She must have been assigned this mission for a reason - they would have sent a diplomatic request to the neighboring nation if her superiors hadn't suspected some kind of danger in Typhia. "Any idea how many are in Typhia?"

"In the city itself?" Zandorn asked, but continued without waiting for a response, "In the city itself I don't think there are any, but if there were one or two the government would probably keep that information sealed up tight as not to worry or panic the population. Within the typhian borders I think there is just one small one, but that is quarentiened and is acually owned by some corporation called... I can't think of the name right now..." Zandorn said but then stopped, "Oh, I think I just remembered..." He said as he looked at a large sign outside of the large dome he had figured contained the rift that read PROPERTY OF GLOBAL SOCIETIES "That is the same company that has access to the rift outside Clefton, that's the name of the town..." Zandorn peered around the sign and discovered that the entire perimiter of the dome was surrounded by a chainlink fence with barbed wire across the top.

Telma stared at the barbed wire for a minute, trying to remember how to deal with the stupid stuff. Finally she remembered, and turned to Zandorn. "Is there a hardware store around? I just need something to clip these with."

Zandorn laughed, "Now before we start breaking any laws lets just ask to see if we can get a tour!"

[[Hey, I've done one-liners before.]] Telma looked at him warily. "All right, then." Personally, she didn't trust that a place bordered with barbed wire would give tours. "Lead the way."

Zandorn looked around, "I think the enterance is this way..." He said and started down a street. "And tell me if you see anyone executive looking" He added as he started walking

Telma furrowed her brows but didn't say anything. If he didn't want an executive looking, it probably meant he wasn't actually asking for a tour. And she was pretty certain that her original plan would be easier than whatever he was going to try. But at the same time she wanted to evaluate him, so this seemed as good a chance as any. "Right," she finally muttered, following.

"Well, we have to ask someone for the tour, and I mean who better to ask then someone who may want to employ us, right?" Zandorn said

"Not for real, we just say we are interested, that's all" Zandorn smiled back at her, "And that way the authorities won't be mad if we get caught."
