As little Kiburi slept her pleasant dreams of the pridelands quickly shifted. She stood alone in darkness that caved in all around her, it's cold fingers lapping at her pale hued form as she quivered in the binky blackness. Nothing could be seen no matter how hard she looked and her voice carried off in the distant, echoing around her, but no reply was ever sent.
Emerald eyes studied the form as the young male cub stood beside the little lioness, a smirk upon his maw. His ebony pelt shone when struck by the sun's rays that managed to trickle through the canopy above. One may think he was merely watching over the slumbering cub but what made him stand out from any other creature seen within the Jungle were the large bat-like wings that were folded against his sides. Golden chains that were attached to the two most outer pinions on each wing created soft metallic noise when jostled about. Upon his breast a golden collar rest with three rubies embedded within it and one larger diamon shaped ruby hung from his left ear. This lion cub was far from normal, in fact he wasn't even mortal. The form smiling mischievously over the slumbering cub was more commanly known as a God, even if he was young in appearance.
Gittering eyes watched the female before the God rose to his paws and rounded her once. What fun he could have with a lion so small! Not only could he burden her slumber with nightmares but he could enjoy some fun in her waking world. One so young would certainly be naive, especially to have fallen asleep in such a land in the open.

She snapped from her nightmares with a small cry of fear, rolling onto her stomach and panting heavily. She had never EVER had a nightmare before and it made her feel terribly trembly.
Then suddenly an extremely strange scent caught at her nose and she turned her head to let her blue gaze fall upon the one who was watching her. He was a strange thing to be sure, a lion but at the same tiem not a lion.
Her heart lurched with an unfamiliar sensation...fear?
Then slowly she got to her feet - still keeping low to the ground - and gazed up at him with a curious face. "Who you Mister?" She questioned with a wrinkle of her nose. Her eyes followed the lines of his strange wings and her ears twitched at the sound of the rings that jingled with his movements.
His fur was dappled in light that trickled down from the canopy above and there was something in her eyes that made her nervous. Her first thoughts moved to calling for her mother but...but if she wanted to prove herself worthy of being a rogue she could not do such a thing.
Little Kib was a lionness of pride!
"You smell funny." She added as an afterthought. Yes...she wasn't the most respectful of juveniles.

The cub sneered as the little lioness woke from her nightmare. He was enjoying tormenting her, it was a shame that she had awakened so quickly. Oh well, no reason complain. She would certainly be just as much fun awake.
Head held high and chest out he moved closwer to her. "I am known as Baku. That is all that you need to know about my title." He muttered as he lowered his head to her own as she cowered before him. Ah, yes. The fear in her eyes was a wonderful thing to see. He fed from the emotion as he fanned out his wings for a few moments before retracting them back against his sides. It was more for a show of dominance and superiority than anything else. Baku WAS surperior to such a pathetic mortal.
"My scent is perfectly normal. It's you who doesn't smell right." He wrinkled his nose up to emphasize his statement. "So what is such a little cub like you doing in the jungle by herself?"

She smelt weird? She gazd down at her small forepaws and gave a small sniff. She didn't think so at any rate but no matter what this 'Baku' said he sure did smell strange. Maybe it was those furless wings?
"Baku." She repeated slowly, standing up a little straighter, trying her best not to be intimidated by such a lion. He was relatively small but what he lacked in stature he gained with the powerful aura that surrounded him.
"Why do you have wings Mr. Lion Baku Sir?" She questioned, moving forwards and raising a forepaw to try and tap at one of them questioningly. "I don't think lions are supposed to have wings." Once again it seemed she had forgotten her manners but she quickly regained herself.
"Oh....I'm Kiburi and I'm not here alone, my mama is with me." She said proudly.

Baku eyes the female cub as she sniffed her paw. "Believe me, you reek." He said nonchalantly before plopping his rear end on the ground as emerald orbs stared at her.
He watched amusedly as she attempted to make herself look stronger and put together but Baku could see the intimidation in her eyes. Ah yes, it was wonderful indeed. "I have wings because I am special." He muttered childishly. "I let few people see them so you should be honored." He jostled the appendages on his back causing the golden chains to rattle and chime.
"So you're here with your mother? How sweet." He nearly gagged at such a thought as spending time with one's mother in such a way. Why would anyone want to spend quality time with their annoying dam? Grinning devilishly the young God quickly changed tactics. "I can't quite understand why such a big girl like yourself would still be with mommy." He said as sweet and kindly as he could. "When I was your age I was already out on my own and as you can tell I am perfectly fine and in good health."

"They're weird." She muttered as her eyes traced the lines of his wings, they were weird but she found herself intrigued by them. The way they moved against his sides, the way the rings jingled with each jolt. She wondered what it would be like to have wings so that she could fly from land to land. It would be simply wonderful!
"You were by yourself at this age?" She asked in wonder, eyes widening a little. It was clear to see the respect and awe that swirled within them. She knew nothing of the mind of this lion and yet that one aspect was enough to make her a little more comfortable in his presence. "I want to be by myself in the world too. I want to be a strong rogue who walks where she wants and does what she wants." She was starting to sound like a spoiled brat that was for sure.
"Everyone says I'm too weak and that I'd be killed. I don't think I am. I think I'm strong enough." There was a vehement expression on her face now.

Baku grinned. This little naive lioness was certainly too easy to bait. He had gone out on a limb with her being by herself but apparently he had hit home. Then agian, what little cub didn't want freedom to roam the world as they pleased?
Rising to his paws he strutted closer to her. "Yes I was alone at your age. Grown-up are always trying to make their little babies afraid of being out in the world because they're just too afraid to let them go." He moved his face to her own, their noses almost touching as Baku peered into Kib's eyes. "If you think you're strong enough to live alone then leave your pride." He pulled away from her and turned his back on Kib and walked a few paces away before glancing over his shoulder and lowering his offending wing. "Unless you're scared that is. I mean, I can understand a little girl like yourself being scared of the unknown world."

She listened intently and gazed into those eyes of his as he drew closer. She found herself entranced by them and almost leaned forwards further so she could touch him. He was like a dream, like a figure of her imagination. He knew how she felt and that pleased her greatly. She had never met a lion who had thought the same as she. They were all happy with pride life but it seemed in this lion she had found a kindred spirit - oh how easily led she is.
"I want to leave, I want to be free. It's my dream Mr. Baku!" She squeaked, almost bouncing with excitement. "You think I can do it? Oh how I want to!" Thoughts of leaving the pride now filled her mind, swirling within it's chambers so that she thought of nothing else.
"I'm only scared of saying goodbye. I'm not scared of the world, not me!" She dreaded seeing the sadness on her brother's face and those of her parents.

Baku turned back to face her and shrugged. "Then don't say goodbye, just leave." He studied her for a moment. It was obvious that saying goodbye to her loved ones was something she would probably not skip on doing. With a soft sigh he tilted his head. "Goodbyes aren't forever, just remember that. Should you ever wish to see your family again you could just simply return home."

Kiburi nodded thoughfully. The lion was right and it was something she had to do. She had promised Mchele that she'd say goodbye to him and she intended not to break it. Saying goodbye was just something that she had to do even though it would be difficult.
"You're right Mr. Baku. I can always go back, then I'll show them that they were wrong about me and that I can cope by myself."
She gave him an almost fond look - one that was still mixed with fear - and spoke again. "Will I ever see you again?" She had decided that it would be quite nice to talk with him more, especially as he seemed to understand her better than anyone.

Baku couldn't help the smirk that appeared nor the glittering in his eyes. Yes, this naive child was simply too easy to tempt. "When you are on your own I will come to see you again." With that he turned and walked into the shadows of the brush. The sound of his chains the last thing heard before complete silence engulfed the little lioness.

Her heart soared with renewed hope. The once dwindling ideas of leaving the pride had returned to their full strength once more and now she more more excited than ever to begin her journey.
What Baku had done this day had truly made her feel stronger and her confidence soared.
She was Kiburi, daughter of Bakhti and there was no way that she was going to let anyone destroy her.
She watched him as he left, ears listening to the sounds of the jingling chains and when she was left alone once more she found herself flying with her hopes.
"Goodbye..." She whispered, looking forward to their next meeting.

Bakhti had fallen asleep but she had awoken to see the last of the conversation adn a rubling snarl was in her throat, it died off as he left though. She walked out and looked at Kiburi sternly, "We are going home, follow me." She then turned tot leave the jungle, this lesson trip was over. They would go home though she knew her daughter wouldn't stay so with it there was no point in keeping her here. "Kib. There is only one thing you need to know, keep away from all pridelands, especially the Fireins, I have never once met them but they keep slaves and kill other lions carelessly so stay away!" She then turned her sad blue eyes towards home.

Kiburi turned with a start as she heard another approaching, a smile breaking out over her face as she saw it was only her mother. She loped forwards, glad that she was back, but soon lost the smile. Was mama upset?
She nodded slowly and let her head droop below her shoulders, padding softly after her mother. What had she done wrong?
She turned her head back ocne to glance around the shadows, wondering where Mr. Baku had gone. He was a nice winged lion that was for sure. He sounded like he was going to help and in her book that made him a good friend.
With a small mew she quickened her pace so as not to be left behind, lisening to her mother's words of caution. "Yes mama, I'll remember!" She wasn't quite sure what a slave was, but she was beginning to understand what killing was and she knew that it wasn't a good thing.
She knew the journey home would be tiring but she knew it would be good to get back on familiar land again.

Bakhti looked forward, she had to mention the plans that would probably happen if Kib was around or not. "Kib, before I talk to you about what I want to, I need you to know something and never forget it. Don't talk to strangers unless you can be sure they are nice. I have never met any of the God or Goddesses that I can remember but I know not all are nice so be weary. For now though I need to talk to you of something that is of importance that I need to tell you aout before you do go." She paused and looked ahead for a while.
They continued walking before she said anything more, she wasn't planning on resting or eating or anything untill they reached home. "Both your father and myself are planning on having more children and as neither of us know what will be of yourself when you leave, we won't know when you will return so by the time you do the cubs could be adults. We hope you don't mind Kib.." Her voice now grew alot softer, " Just, with you leaving, Mchele doesn't really have anyone and we can't have that. He may have friends but he wont have his sister. We also hope it will prepare him if he ever decides to have his own cubs." SHe stopped talking now, it was Kibs turn.
