He looked back at the ceiling. "You were the one telling me I was a fool because I had foolish ties with a loved one. And I lost those ties. You said yourself that I am weak because of that. Besides..." he said as a single tear slipped down his cheek. "I have to go in for inspection tomorrow. They plan on wiping my memories of the past month again, meaning I won't remember her again anyway." He reached up to touch the bruise that was forming on his neck. "Or you. When I come back, I'm going to look at you and ask who the hell you are...because I won't know."

"Do you not remember the beginning of this month...? I met you at the end of last month and a week later I'd suddenly forgotten all about you. It wasn't just that I'd forgotten...We don't just forget things...They'd taken the memory chip and kept it in the lab. True...they don't erase you from my memory, they just give me a whole new one." he said, sitting back up. "They don't want me getting too close to you in case they have to move one of us because I am more prone to create ties with people...Which really doesn't make much sense, because you don't like me anyway..." He absent mindedly reached up to touch the bruise around his neck. "Someone really needs to have a talk with the morons who look after me now..." He paused. "I have an idea...Where did my laptop go...?" he mumbled, reaching under his bed. "I'll make you a deal. If I come back asking who you are, you plug this back in for me and load some of my memories. If I come back and remember everything about you, I owe you lunch."

Jane glared at him. "They're not going to let you leave. Like I said, they have those tracking devices. They put me with you because I am a walking computer. Filled with knowledge that I have no use for. Without you, I am useless. I know this and have accepted it." He reached behind him and pulled a cord out of the metal between his shoulder blades, plugging it into his computer. He began copying some files and flinched a couple times as they copied. "Besides, if I don't remember you, I'm only going to piss you off again because I wouldn't remember anything you've said. For being as advanced as you are, you can be really dense. I'm sure you'd rather me remember everything you've said than to repeat it all and get angry with me all over again..."

Jane looked up at him and growled to himself. "Why do you wave like that if you're so rude...?" He flinched again as the last of the files were copied to a folder on his laptop and unplugged the cord, letting it wind back into the metal case. "One day...you're going to regret everything you did to me." He tucked his computer back under his bed and found a piece of paper and a pen, scribbling a note to Keita to tell him about the files when he returned from inspection the next day. With that done, he laid down on his bed and tried to get some sleep.

Jane looked in the mirror. The bruise was huge. He touched it and it stung a little. He pouted. "I really have to learn to just let them do what they feel like. Just worry about myself...ignore everyone else...no one else matters...no one else..." he said, slipping into a small trance. He heard someone out in the hallway and snapped back to reality. They were coming to get him soon. He made sure the note was somewhere where it would be found when he got back, more for himself than anything.

Jane jumped slightly at the sound of the doorknob. He walked over and pushed on it a little to find a weight on it. He jumped back, surprised. He pursed his lips. "Keita was supposed to be back by now..." he mumbled. "I have to get going..." he said, trying to open the door.

Jane squeaked and stared at him blankly, he was not expecting the door to fly open at him. He then sighed. "Oh, it's only you...thank god."
