Thanks kitten! Also - I added you on MSN/AIM ^^b

I also like the Blossoming Stone idea
Dang - you have really good ideas for essences! I'm good with more of the other ideas that come with the essences and the such. Orz xD I've been working on ideas for the F.S. while I was home for the weekend. Some hobbies and things for the Raevan 8D
PostPosted: Sun Apr 18, 2010 7:18 pm

Cool. Hope I can catch you on there some times xDD

Haha, I just spent way too much time thinking about different options for my girl. It has nothing to do with yours, but an idea I was thinking about going for was essence of Talkative Skull and soul of a Grim Reaper - would have been wicked ;O

It's good you think ahead to that stuff too - I have an easier time making parings than thinking of the personality afterwards ;O

You may actually catch me on there from time to time. I usually stay up late so you never know. ^^

8D;; Those ideas would have been epiccccc! I was brainstorming for other ideas on fel's this weekend and Grim Reapers came into mind but I didn't know how to utilize them. xD I came up with Psionic Spoon (making fun at the whole telekinesis-spoon thing) and something else...but I forget, orz. =[

Ohh owo
I -really- like your salt idea!
I don't think anyone has thought of a salty essence before.
So definetly bonus points to you on that.
The only thing that bothers me about it, and maybe that's just me being retarded or something lol is.
"eradicate crops or to destroy a patch of farmable land"
To me it sounds like the same thing, since technically crops are on farmland >.>'
But like I said, that could be just me being weird xD

Your soul choice is good too!
Props to insect souls!
And you can work with a bunch of color choices for your Raevan.
And that is all XD

To be technical, those are two separate things

Crops are currently growing and 'farmable land' doesn't mean it's on a farm - it just means land that can at some point be used to grow stuff. Your front lawn is farmable, but that doesn't mean you want to grow crops on it lol

Say you grow crops in back. Well if someone sewed salt in there it would be unusable, but if you HAVE to grow that food you'd move the crops to the front yard. So anyone with sense would destroy the crops AND the excess land

Orion;; I thought of another possibility to tie in with salt. You know how people say like "salt on wounds" and such. What if your Raevan had a sort of healing touch, obviously the opposite of sprinkling salt in there.

@kitten: Doesn't salt already have healing properties in people? Like whenever I bit the inside of my cheek and started to bleed or if I somehow managed to get a cut in my mouth, mom always had me swish warm water mixed with salt to clean it out and help it heal. o3o

Sorry about the late-ish reply. Been studying for my exams. Finished today though, save for a take-home exam I have to finish by next Tuesday. 8D

@Tnau
Thanks! I do have to admit help with the salt idea by way of kitten /loves on her/ She helped me come to it. ^^
Seems like shes already addressed the crops/farmable land thing
And yes! I love my butterfly species soul choice! 8'D And whoo for us having insect souls together! =D

@kitten
That would probably require a different fel choice wouldn't it though? :3 Cuz the Fertilizing Salt is more dealing with plants? Though I see where you're coming from. There is the whole rubbing salt into open wounds is usually painful but Ravi also brings up the point that in some cases salt is healing. Hmm. I appreciate helping with the cultivation of ideas!

@Ravina
o 3o I has a Ravi in my quest. O: How are you? What do you think of the ideas in here so far? 8D /would love to hear what you think about it

Off handed, but while I like the prospect of a fennec fox soul (they're so cute ; n ;; nice choice), there's already a fox soul in use; a Kitsune. It's very true that they're different, as the kitsune is more of a spirit or mythological fox, but it's still a fox on a broad scale, so it might be uninspiring to Kyou.

Sorry I can't offer more crit at the moment > A < My head's all a mash from the rainy weather.

I is in ur quest. :B

I'm well, how are you? And I do have opinions on your stuff, yes.

I really like your Fel Essence idea; it really encompasses just what a Fel Essence is. :3 Plus I really like it's not your standard 'elemental' Essence (ie - fire, water, earth, air) and it's more science-y like mine is! nwn The fact it's branched away from those elements makes it really unique and if you ever bribe or enter for it, I bet you'll have points for uniqueness.

Your butterfly souls are beautiful and unique because we don't have any insects (scorpions and spiders are arachnids), but like Snoof just said I'm kinda 'eh' on the fennec fox. True it's not a mythical one but we have a fox Raevan already and that likely won't win points with Kyou no matter what you do. Plus it is sort of plain and the soul decides the appearance of the Raevan. I...Have no idea what a jerboa is. o__O; But my advice to you is to think about what sorts of powers can come from a certain soul. Powers don't just come from the Essence and it's always fun to think 'what can I do with this that would make it stand out from the rest?' and also that you keep in mind that soul = appearance, essence = color in most cases with Raevans. :3 But don't be afraid to stick with "plain" souls because they could be the best pick with something. nwn

O.O;; Today just seems to be a day of epic! I has a Ravi AND a Snoof in mah quest. <3333

@Snoof
D'aww. It's okay. A lot of people have voiced that about it. I'll take it down so that it eliminates confusion. It is such a cute choice though, eh? /wants to pull on the theoretical Raevan's gigantic ears 8D/ And it's fine Snoofzy! I'm happy to just hear your opinion. ^^ <3

@Ravina
I iz happy you're in mah quest. Makes me pleased for some reason. 8D

I'm doing pretty good. Happy to practically be done with college until summer classes. :D

Thanks Ravi! It makes me happy that you like my essence, forrealz. I'm hoping to seriously obtain this Raevan if I can. The idea of an Anthokinetic Raevan is consuming me so much. :B

Thanks! Kyou draws so epically that I bet a Butterfly Raevan would come out extremely beautiful. <333 And the Jerboa was added just because I thought they were incredibly cute. xD I haven't had the chance to plan it out as much as I want but hopefully I'll be able to see what I can come up with now that all my attention isn't on finals. ^^b And thanks for the advice, Ravi! I really, really appreciate it. I'll keep it in mind as I work on different possible souls and/or fels. :DDD
PostPosted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 5:59 pm

*had to Google 'anthokinesis'* lulz your quest thread was the second hit on it. XDDD

But now that I know what it is...If you want a Raevan who control plants with a salt Essence, I suggest a flower soul. o3o Even though the salt fertilizes land rather than destroys it, I don't see how flower manipulation and powers tie into that without it being a real stretch. Sure the salt helps plants grow, but actually controlling the plants themselves seems a bit...thin in the connection area to me. Rose and Snow Lotus are already taken plant souls, but there's quite a large amount of species out there already, so you've got a lot of room to find a good one! Plus Lab needs more plant souls I think. :3

And you're welcome, but yes, concentrate on your exams - those are more important than Gaia. If you ever want me to review something or have an idea you're thinking about but want a second opinion on, feel free to PM me. nwn

/had to google this as well just to see/ OMG. Haha. You're correct! xD That's kinda creepy but cool at the same time. And there was a link to it in the Raevan descrips. ^^b

I actually had a Cherry Blossom tree back up when I had the essence defined as an Ever Seed. xD I can see where you're coming from. In it's defense, and you can disagree or not - just wanting to clarify to see if it connects when pointed out directly or if I need to strengthen it's standing or anything like that. The salt, when sprinkled on bare ground, or just ground in general, creates life in it as opposed to destroying the life there or causing it to where life couldn't be created. Think of it like...instant fertilizer. Even if the land had been completely tilled and treated so there was no seed life, sprinkling the salt there would create instant life. And some of that growth would be flowers that had never before been seen (so that the Raevan has an easier time justifying the creation of hybrids). Does that make sense? Or am I stretching? The essence descript has it listed out in one sentence but I could alway say instead: "Fertilizing whatever patch of land it is sprinkled on, new life is brought into existence almost as if the salt itself was creating life in the soil; flowers never even seen before have been spotted blooming in it's stead." The italicized part being the added part. o 3o

And really? ^_^ I appreciate that a whole lot Ravi. I'll be sure to take you up on that sometime. ^-^
PostPosted: Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:33 pm

OH! Okay I was under the impression it was just very nutritional or healthy to the soil and helped spur growth. My mistake. XD;

On the topic of stretching, I'd be careful about the whole 'creating life' aspect of it. Like how death related powers and souls are a 'no' in the shop, creating life would be walking on a very, very thin line I believe, if you get what I'm saying? Now, the idea the salt grows flowers that have never been seen before makes me go "ehh..." and makes me leery. This is because there's a lot of science behind flowers in that they have various classifications - family, genus, specie, sub-specie, etc etc - as well as various defenses (poison and thorns most commonly) and ways they act and feed (ie - parasitic plants like mistletoe and carnivorous plants like a venus flytrap). This makes it very complicated, complex, and sort of hard to imagine because breeding hybrids is difficult. There's a bit of a warning in relation to godmodding coming up, because (should this be in someone else's hands, I'm not saying you) there'd be nothing stopping the Raevan from producing this super tall, parasitic flower that's covered in thorns that is so poisonous it can kill ten grown men in under fifteen minutes - which it then devours.

*breathe*

See how complex and complicated that ends up being? XDDD Fel Essences are supposed to be simple things (shadows that have no castor, fire that never dies out, a virus that breeds by itself), so while your base idea is awesome (salt that nurtures the soil/brings life to barren fields in the forms of flowers (though why just flowers? o3o What about grasses, weeds, and trees maybe? And how would the salt itself cause a plot of land devoid of seeds to fill?)), the creating hybrids and never-before-seen plants would be rather dangerous to mess with in my opinion. Not only because of the flowers themselves, but because of how strict the science behind it all is. I'm not even gonna get into invasive species and ecosystems/habitats! DX

All in all (before I get even more long winded, oi), if you go the flower growing route, I'd recommend you stick with known flowers and known hybrids rather than making up your own. DX Be wary of the 'creating life' area of your Essence. Creating fire is one thing, creating a breathing, existing thing is another. Remember simple is good. Even the most complex of plots can come from something simple. :3

You're fine! ^^b

Is Ravi a plant enthusiast or something like that? You seem very, very knowledgeable and interested in it. :D I was interested mostly in hybrids, not so much in creating new species of flora in the sense of hybrid destructor's but as in creating a flora specie of incredible beauty. Like a fuller Rose with an unseen color scheme. Or a beautiful flower that would rival that of the most awe-inspiring flowers. Mostly for her to give to those she loves and cherishs or for competitions. Like say, she becomes best friends with Vyn. She would grow a Rose so full and red with black, shadowy accents to show her appreciation for her friendship. Something like that. I don't take any offense at the pointing out of god-modding - it's a credible point out to make. =D I want to avoid that at all costs. o3o

I do understand the complexities you bring up - it's very daunting. I most likely wouldn't delve too much into the scientific aspects of it, as that would probably create far too boring RPs. The things she would do would be very simplistic and understandable - and would mostly be subconscious. She'd set out with a specific flower in her head and it would come to life. :3

To answer the grass/weeds/trees thing - I was mostly locked into it at the creation of the Ever Seed because I figured that Kyou trying to capture a Seed that translated through different flowers instead of all different kinds of plant families would be easier. And also to make it to where she wasn't so...powerful? So that she wouldn't have such a control over everything - just a specific category. And I'm starting to agree with your suggestions of limitations. Instead of creating new flora species I'll give her the ability to create different colorations within the flowers and allow for the ability to supplement said flowers. (Such as the creation of the fuller, different colored Rose) Does that work better in your opinion?
