Love to Paint
I love the altar cloth! I have to know, how long did it take?

Thanks! If I had worked on it everyday, it would have taken a week or two total. As it was, I kept putting it away and coming back to it, so about a month-month and a half. Still, not bad for using crochet thread (probably about a size ten thread) and size three needles.

Got a pic of a work in progress. It's a chakra shawl, done in a drop stitch pattern. I'm starting with the root chakra and working up, as you can see. ^_^

I've been thinking to get a smaller pair of needles and thinner thread and lots of it and making baby blankets. I figure if I make at least three, one for a boy, one for a girl, and a green one for neutrality.. that maybe I'll finish by the time I have kids. I mean, I don't plan on having kids for another 10 years or so.. xd Maybe I'll finally finish a project.

I just like how the littler stitches look, which is why I'm wanting smaller needles and thread. That.. is how to get smaller stitches, isn't it?
I also need to get some of those needles you use to make socks.. Wanna learn to make little booties too!

Yup, that's how you get smaller stitches. DK weight makes for good baby blankets (DK or double knitting weight is just under worsted). And making socks is great fun, it's one of my favorite things to finish.

Is DK softer or something?

And I've only ever used acrylic yarn. Would that still be okay, or do you have some other type to suggest?

And aren't the needles needed for making socks double ended? And how many would I need? *needs to go googling*

DK weight just refers to the wraps per inch, which is just how thin or thick the yarn is. The more wraps per inch (abbreviated wpi) the thinner the yarn. Acrylic is perfect for baby blankets as it can be quite soft and is super easy care. And yes, the classic method of sock making involves needles with points at both ends. Those are sold in packs of four or five typically, I suggest a pack of five as while you use three to hold the stitches and a fourth to knit to, you never know when a fifth needle will come in handy. Hope that helps you out some.

That's definitely helpful, thanks!
Now.. just gotta wait until we can afford to go buy some artsy stuff, lol.

I crank out a baby blanket about every three months. My Mom sells them at her annual "fun-raiser", all the monies made go to her pet charity.Sometimes I even have the time to make little booties, hats and jackets to match.
I loke to keep yarn with me, have evn used chop sticks to knit, nothing like airport security and metal knitting needles 4laugh .
My favorite thing to make is a neko hat with the cute ears. These ar huge gifts for my daughter and her friends. Super simple in the round, and it does take a little practice to master those rounds, and dbl pionter needles.

My current pair of needles are plastic (and when I get pissed I throw them, surprised they're not broken yet). They're this brownish clear with darker spots here and there. It's rather neat, and they were cheaper which is why I bought them. I was just after something quick and cheap, 'cause I didn't know if I'd like to knit or not and didn't wanna waste money on something I don't even enjoy.

I've been digging bamboo needles lately, they feel nice to knit with. Especially when you add some wood beams (a wood conditioner), they get hella satiny to the touch with that stuff. heart But I'll use anything that resembles knitting needles, I'm not picky.

Ta-da. Since today is my birthday, I've suddenly got money again... so yesterday I went and bought two things of "light" weight yarn and these fancy circular needles. I got green, 'cause I figure I might as well start working on my future kid's blanket. I started crocheting my nephew's when I found out my sister was pregnant.. he's going to be 5 this year and it's still not done. xd Maybe if I have a headstart on it...

Started the project last night, finished it just now. I'm actually setting the twist now by letting it soak in the sink as I type this.

My physics teacher is teaching me to knit with wooden chopsticks with sharpened ends. I'll see if I can make a square...
