Erdre smiled brightly at him, taking another look at the waterfall before walking back the way they came from. She came to a fork in the path and looked at each path before choosing the darker, forest path, pausing ever so often to make sure she wasn't moving too fast for him to keep up. "Do you prefer the forests or open places?"

Maelios gave it some thought, pausing for a moment until he realized she was waiting for him, "Honestly, it depends on my moods. Sometimes a nice sunny day... shining through the trees... or a breezy lightly cloud filled day sky in an open field where you could have a picnic..." Smiling to himself, his eyes veered upward to look at him, "Frankly, I guess I just like cool sunny days, unless its a clear cool night." Giving a soft laugh, he trotted up toward her, "I guess I'm a sunshine kinda guy."

She laughed "Well, sunshine is great, it always makes me feel better when I'm down" She continued down the path, spotting a break in the trees and walked into the center of a sunbathed clearing filled with soft grass. "Well how about that, forest and open grassy sunlit all in one place"

Maelios tilted his head to catch sight of where she spoke. He gave a swift nod of approval, "Looks wonderful to me. Maybe we could search for different bugs or wildlife?"

Erdre grinned, "Of course!! I love insects, the stick and leaf bugs are my favorites, I love how they can just look like a plant!" She sat down in the grass, her tail wagging happily.

Maelios gave a quick nod, "There are a lot of interesting wildlife. We could look for leaf and stick bugs, if you like? Maybe we'll also find something else along the way?"

"Yes please!!" she jumped up, wagging her tail happily, heading for the nearest tree, jumping for the lowest branch and scrabbling up on it, looking down at him. "You coming up or should I find one and bring it down to you?"

Maelios gave a brisk laugh as his eyes peered up at the tall branches looming above him. "I can climb." His eyes resumed their position to her and he gave a smile. Finding the lowest hanging branch, "Shall we make a contest of it? First one up can ask any favor of the loser? Game?"

She grinned "You're on!" jumping for the next branch, she flicked the tip of her tail in his direction, settling on the branch to watch him climb

Maelios smirked, and in a fluid motion he jumped on the branch above him. Looking above, he started a quick ascent upward, occasionally looking back at her to see how far she was from winning. "Better be quick if you want to beat me!"

"Oh! You're fast!" She scrabbled up the next few branches before slipping off one, catching herself on the lower branch, sitting there for a moment.

As she slipped, Maelios' eyes widened and he immediately skittered down a few branches to try and catch her. "Are you alright?" Concern wore heavy in his voice as he surveyed her to try and make sure there was no major damage. "...."

Erdre laughed "I'm alright, just slipped a little, but now you've lost your lead" She poked at him and proceeded to climb up again

It took him a long moment to realize that she had already started her climb. He blinked for a moment, "Hey! No fair!" Laughing, he began to follow her but had already drifted a few passes behind.

"It's not like I cheated" she laughed, continuing to climb, looking back at him every couple branches to make sure he was still climbing
