He was silent and he shook his head quickly in denial. "No, no, no... Aerie, I said we fight to keep from becoming the Vampire. You saved me from that fate. Because I found you, I will not become this thing you fear... Look at me Aerie, join with my mind and see for yourself what I say is truth and do not fear me..." his voice was soft, pleading, the blue eyes gentle and sad, as he thought of what would happen if she rejected him.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Aerie felt her hands tremble slightly as the image of haunting blood red eyes flashed in her mind and she looked to Azriel across the room. The sadness in his voice, the way he pleaded with her to understand him, to look in his mind and understand. Aerie stared at him for a long moment. She had already trusted him this far and if what he told her was true then she could do so and not worry.
'Okay....' she whispered and then slowly reached out and touched his mind with her and then slowly allowed herself to fully enter his mind. And when she did she was overwhelmed by what she found. All his memories, anything he wanted her to know she saw, and she even noticed quick glimpses of the dark memories he didn't want her to see. A few minutes later She pulled back slightly dazed by what he had shown her, she had no doubt he was telling the truth but she still had many questions..

For the first time in his life, the man felt fear, and not for himself. His fear was brought on by this little woman and it was a fear for her and what she could to him. He showed her everything there was, but sheltered her from the horror of his darkest days, merely glimpsing over these. He spent a little more time on the day he lost everything, and the on that very night, when he saw her, everything she had given back to him.
He was aware of his heart thundering in his chest, also, he was aware she had questions to ask. He gazed up at her and waited. "Ask away, I can hide nothing from you." he murmured gently, leaning back against the wall, hand folded in his lap easily.

How in his vision he had seen only her. How suddenly color returned to him. "You called me your lifemate. What is that?" she asked softly the word appeared in his mind when he had first saw her and again from when he spoke to her in my mind.

The smile that came to his lips was truly a happy one and he stood slowly and went to stand beside where she sat on the bed. He knelt beside her and gazed up, then he spoke;
"Lifemate is the term used to describe the other halves of our souls, the light to our darkness... In essence, our lifemates are our spouses. However, the bond between lifemates is much stronger and different than that of humans. A male loses his ability to feel emotions and see in color after reaching the age of 200 years. Those emotions can only be returned to him when he finds his lifemate, the other half of his heart and soul... the bond between lifemates is so strong that a man may wander in darkness for hundreds, if not thousands of years, just for the chance to see Her... the one born to complete him, the woman whose compassion and purity can drive away the dark beast within him. I have waited for so long, and Aerie, csistri, you are the one that I have waited for over a millenia for. You are my other half, you are my light. You gave me back everything I lost, and I cannot tell you what it means to me. There are words that a carpathian male may share, with his lifemate... vows, promises that cannot be broken or unsaid... and these words are ingrained in my heart, and my mind, my tongue aches with my need to say them to you, but I fear, perhaps this is all happening too quickly for you..."
He inhaled deeply and rocked back on his heels to gaze up at her somberly. All of his words had been truth and he had been pure in his feelings, he could do no more than wait and hope, even while his inner demon raged and demanded he take her and make her his, just as his soul cried out for him to say the binding, ritual words and take her blood... but consciously he refused these things, even while pain of his need ate away at him, he refused. He had waited, he still could. He would not harm or frighten her. The words raced and echoed through his mind and he smiled warmly at the thought of sharing them with her...

Here he was laying down promises of care, and devotion that ran deeper than anything than anything she could conceive. And as she gently probed his mind and knew that he was telling her the truth. She could see the images of his friends, loved ones with their lifemates, knowing what they had and what he wanted to offer her.
Breathing in after a moment of holding her breath Aerie looked to his blue eyes though he was kneeling next to the bed at her side he was still incrediably tall. "I... How can you want me? Knowing..." she stumbled softly as she looked up at him and then looked away embarasssed. "How can you want me knowing what I do?" she said tears welling in her eyes. She felt so ashamed, she worked as a stripper, how could he wanted her as his lifemate knowing he had taken her clothes off before hundreds of men before.

He reached out and pulled her to him tenderly embracing her, cradling her to his chest. "It's okay." he said soothingly. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead. "You did what you had to do to get money to survive. And that was then, what I am offering you is a new present, and a better future. You'll never have to do it again. I am a Carpathian, Aerie... I have lived for thousands of years... I have accumulated much wealth in that time, more than enough to supply for you... And what you have done in the past... it doesn't matter, this is the present. I see you trying to survive, that's what matters to me, your survival, and your safety." he murmured.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXĄeяıe Wıℓℓıaмş ☸ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ As he took her into his arms she gasped and leaned her cheek against his firm chest and breathed in deeply and sighed contently as he hand stroked through her hair. His unyeilding patience with her, his complete understanding of her. Aerie knew she didn't deserve such a gift as what he offered her. It was like a dream come true, she was the Cinderella of this fairytale. Tears welled in her eyes and they fell from her eyes onto his shirt.
"Thank you... I don't deserve it but thank you..." she said softly into her chest. "I don't know what you expect of me... but I will try. I promise I will try." she swore to him. He was giving her something great, gave her promises she knew she could trust. She could trust he would never lie to her or falter, and that idea only was all too comforting to her.

He held her and stroked the tears away as they fell. "I expect nothing, only that you be yourself and trust me to provide for you... this is all I expect, csistri." he smiled down at her and spoke slowly. "I claim you as my lifemate. I belong to you. I offer my life for you. I give you my protection, my allegiance, my heart, my soul, and my body. I take into my keeping the same that is yours. Your life, happiness and welfare will be cherished and placed above my own for all time. You are my lifemate, bound to me for eternity and always in my care." Then, gently, he kissed her cheek.

Now it felt like her soul had been sewn to his and her mind now mold with his and his with hers. As he drew away the tears from her face she sighed softly. "What is that, that you are calling me?" she asked her voice soft as she opened her grey eyes and looked up at him and gave a small smile. Small amount of blush crossed her cheeks as he kissed her cheek and leaned more into his arms.

He sat there, leaning against the bed, holding her to him, stroking her hair. "Csistri? It is "little one" in the language of my people." he explained. "It's a term of endearment." he sat holding her, his body...well, he had very strong mating urges at that particular point, but there were things that needed to be addressed. "Aerie, you have to tell me this, who is the man who causes you so much fear? Is it a vampire?" he asked softly.

As she stood at a modest 5'6 and he well over 6'5, he towered over her. even now as they sat his body dwarfed hers, but it was in a protective way that she was quickly starting to like. As he asked her about the man pursueing her she bit her lip.
"I don't know... I mean I think so. When I first... met him, he could talk to me in my mind like you. But there were other things... he killed my parents, I watched him rip my Dad's... throat out and lick the blood. I didn't stay to watch the rest..." she said her voice wavering as she spoke of her parents. She blinked her eyes rapidly as once again tears appeared as memories flooded her mind of that fateful night.
"Then he came after me, but stopped and said my soul belongs to him, I would be his light. He had such red eyes... Then my Mom came home and he went after her, I screamed for her and she told me to run. And I did... I haven't stopped since." Aerie said and tilted her head down. Every day since then she always wondered if she had stayed, if she could have saved them. If he was a vampire she could have made a deal with him to spare her parents.

"It was braver to do what you did. To run, when there was no where to go, to continue fighting to survive... and he was a vampire... a dark creature with no morals. He would have tricked you into a false security, taken what he wanted of you, then he would have killed you and your family. You could not have spared them." he whispered softly, kissing away her tears tenderly. "This man...he will not harm you Aerie, and he will not take away any other that you love. You are my lifemate, and he will be punished for the pain he caused you and the loved ones he took from you. I will avenge your parents, and you. I promise." He stood then, holding her close to him and he moved to the bed, laying her down. "You should rest now. Do you have any pajamas?" he asked softly.

Slowly shaking her head against his chest she sighed softly. Truth was after she ran she had little money, and had only been able to grab a few things before she left. Her survival left no room to have the luxury of buying clothes for herself. Not that she wanted to tell Azriel that, she did not want to appear completely hopeless before him. "No... I would sleep during the day while I traveled, I quickly learned he only came after me at night." she told him.

He laid a warm, gentle hand on her shoulder and comfortable, and still modest pajamas formed around her, her old clothes on the chair beside the bed. "There, that alright?" he murmured inquisitively. "You should rest now. I am here, no one will harm you. Okay?" he covered her and laid beside her, ontop of the blankets. He didn't want to risk doing something she might not like or he might regret, so he left space between the two of them. His body ached for hers still, and on top of that, his beast wanted her and he had not fed in too long a time.
